The food here is FANTASTIC. The quality is amazing and the prices are surprisingly low for such phenomenal food. The staff is great, too!!!

If you like a ghetto dive bar with ghetto patrons then this is the place for you. First off, their drinks are overpriced. Second, the people that come to this bar are looking to fight half the time and you feel like you have to watch your back. The music is rarely any good but they do get one star for playing a few good jams every now and then. It's a small dance floor and messed up furniture. My friend and I were bar hopping in downtown riverside last night and we decide to try this bar. Bad mistake. We got in about 1:40ish and they did last call. As soon as we got our drinks, literally a few minutes later, they flipped on the lights and yelled at everyone to leave. My friend and I were standing there with our full beers trying to drink what we could. The bouncers were yelling at us to get out and that we were able to sit on the patio and finish our drinks. But as soon as we got out on the patio, more bouncers were yelling at us to put our drinks down and leave. Even though we told the bouncers that we just bought these drinks, they couldn't have cared less and keep yelling for us to leave. It wasn't even 2 yet!! This was the worst bar I have ever been to in my life. First off, don't call last call for drinks then have people buy drinks only to force them to leave them and don't have your bouncers yell at their paying customers. NEVER coming back and I don't think anyone should waste their money here. read more

I'm not exactly sure why this bar doesn't have better reviews. I've been here a few times and my experiences so far have been great. It's more of a dive bar, so don't expect the bartenders to be super warm and welcoming or table service to be all that spectacular. They serve the drinks and talk to the regulars. The drinks are reasonably priced. My guy and I mainly go there for the jukebox, which is the best thing about this place. I've always been a fan of dives cause you're never pressured to fit a certain scene, or follow a certain dress code. Pixels definitely welcomes that. Read another review that said it's like drinking at your homies garage and I agree. You walk in, order your drink and chill. The atmosphere is laid back, but picks up at the same time. There's also opportunity for meeting new people and beautiful girls. Overall, dope music and the place itself is spacey. The themes like Mustache Monday's and Arcade Wednesday's are innovative. It keeps the bar exciting and suits the college kid persona. Only had their food menu once, but it did not disappoint. Definitely look forward to trying more grub. The only downfall are the draft beers. Wish they had more variety and options but at the same time it benefits your budget. I found myself drinking PBR for 4 bucks. Haha. My wallet definitely appreciated that. Great bar. Giving it four stars, only cause I'm stingy, but I would definitely recommend this bar to anyone. read more

My daughter, her friends and I were downtown at the Festival of Lights last night and decided to stop in for a beer since this bar had bands playing and it looked like a great spot to stop in and enjoy some beers, food and rest our feet and enjoy some music. 1st off we were greeted by an extremely rude, arrogant and foul mouthed security/door guy that asked for our I.D.'s. He was short with all of us and was yelling at one of the girls because she couldn't get her I.D. out of her wallet. He then continued to cuss out a woman and a man that were next to us trying to come in. While using the "F" word at the couple and telling them to "F" off. He ignored us and let us wait while he threw a tantrum and yelled at the couple and from what I could tell the woman was only asking him why he was so upset. Which in turn put him even more over the edge. Now I don't know about you but if I owned a business I would not want security/bouncer/staff/waiter or bartender or any employee of mine using that language and getting angry with customers to this extent. I was disgusted by his behavior and we all decided to not spend our hard earned money at this place. I am writing this review because I hope it lets the establishment know who they have working for them. I also hope it also helps others know what to expect when they get to the door. Our favorite Monday lunch spot! Half price food on Mondays = a happy, full construction office. Love having a great downtown lunch place that has a great relaxed atmosphere and reasonable prices. He didn't leave the bar tender a tip because of how rude he was. The next thing that happened a bar tender named Jessie came up to my friend and clapped at him. I said I would only create a Yelp account if I visited an establishment that deserved it. ALAS! The time has come! After my first time at Pixels, I noticed an extra $10 charge on my credit card statement. After calling a couple times, I got through to the owner who was quite rude and wouldn't let me get a word in the conversation. She summed it up to "you write messy, so we thought that's what you wrote." I understand I'm not a calligrapher, but I didn't want to make a big deal about it so I dismissed it. She told me she could either refund the $10 or give me 3 free drinks. I sided with the drinks. She told me to let her know the next time I was coming in so I could claim my drinks, which is exactly what I did. When I was closing out, I noticed the tab didn't add up. I told the bartender there were drinks on my tab I didn't order, he immediately got really agitated and was extremely defensive. It got to a point where another bartender had to calm him down and tried to help me out. She told me that the manager would call me in the morning to straighten it out. Welp, she called all right. AT 7 IN THE MORNING. To be honest, it felt like she had called me that early out of pure spite. And to no surprise, she was reprehensibly rude again, even more than the first time we spoke. She was extremely condescending and once again made it seem like it was my fault that her staff did something wrong. I tried to explain to her she had no right to a customer so disrespectfully, as she simultaneously replied with "uh-huh, uh-huh", extremely mature for the owner of a bar if you ask me. After I told her the simple solution would be for me to call my credit card company and have investigate, she seemed a little more eager to help. She said she would call the bartender in a couple hours because she "didn't want to wake her." EXCUSE ME, but didn't you JUST call me at 7am? Were you suddenly overcome with sense of compassion to allow others to experience sleep?? Whatever. She eventually called back and said she reviewed the camera tapes and realized I was overcharged... again. SURPRISE!!!!! Nothing I love more than a business that habitually overcharges. It all started a few months ago when I put my card up to open a tab and told the bartender (John) that I would pay cash. We run up a tab and he comes to me lets me know he is cashing out to go home, I say bring me the reciept I'll pay and open another tab, he brings me a cash receipt with nothing to sign. I open a new tab and get my card pay cash for that as well. The next day I find on my account John ran my card and took my cash, typical bar scam. I call in, cordially, let someone know of the mistake they take my info and let me know a refund will be issued. The following day (2 days later) John calls me, harassing me, calling me names saying I'm making a big deal out of nothing, apparently he found my number in the managers office. I call back later to talk to a manager, who apologizes and says she will credit me drinks and take care of me on a future visit (Monette). Months pass as I had no appeal to be there, I finally go on Tuesday night and let Monette know I will be there, she calls the bartender lets him know, I identify myself when I'm there and order 3 beers. He comes back saying I owe him $20 some odd dollars, I remind him he and i just talked, Monette was going to take care of this. He says, "No, she's covering 2 well drinks." Well why did you let me order the beers if you knew I was going for the comped drinks?!? Bottom line, there are way better places within walking distance, better bartenders, betters management, better environment. WATCH WHAT YOU PAY FOR!! THEY WILL STEAL!! read more

So where do I begin, I went to this place on Saturday 9, 2013, I didn't go inside because I recently had to change my last name because I got married ,so when i showed the guy in the front my ID he said i couldn't go in because my ID had a punched hole in it but i did have a paper stating who i was and all that from the DMV (I am sure you know what I am talking about) so I show him that, and he says really rudely that he can't except that and I ask him are you sure because before we came here we went to Dave and Busters and another bar before this and they both took it with out hesitating, then he said well there not supposed to do that blah blah, still being rude, I don't get what that guys problem is, why he had to be so rude, he could have just said sorry i can't do anything politely, but to be honest that place looked like it was filled with a bunch of hipster a**holes like they deserve the world handed to them on a platter, so I don't see the point of giving these people a second chance and from all the other reviews I see, its not worth ruining my night with there rude personality's. read more

This bar is a rip for sure. They hound you for tips ( asked me "no tip?!" I tip out at the end of the night), cheap out their performers, and they literally tore a drink out of our hand. Stopped for lunch on a workday. Place was completely empty except for one lone guy at the bar. The menu looked good, and when we (eventually) got our food it was okay... but the service was so terrible. Surly, slow... there was no one else in there! Not a single other lunch eating person. Maybe they had to run out and buy ingredients because they were so thrown off by four patrons stopping by during the lunch hour. Okay the bartending staff was great got our drinks fast and it was mustache Monday's and my friends and I did not have mustaches on but the bartender was nice enough to go ahead and draw one on for us. So that was pretty awesome and nice of him to do so, so we could get our half of drinks. Great job bartenders. Now the guys working out side is what really ruined our night there considering this was our second stop and we had heard good things about this place. We were out front drinking and my friend was having her smokes. We were having a good time and we ran into our friend from the first bar who was walking by. He asked what my other friend was drinking and she goes oh I'm drinking a vodka tonic and lets him have a sip from the other side of the railing. We had no idea that you couldn't do this theirs not signs and especially no warnings. The guy out front came over very rudely and told us that we all had to leave right now. We were kinda dumbfounded because we didn't even know we were doing anything wrong. My friend goes back inside to close her tab so we can leave he follows her in and screams that we had to go. We were highly aware of that and were already on our way he did not need to make a bigger scene like that. It just made no sense. Totally unprofessional. This used to be my favorite place to go and I frequented it weekly, sometimes multiple times a week. It was the only place other than MTL where I felt decently safe. I stopped going out as much and hadn't been here in a few months, and after Saturday 2/27, I doubt me or my friends will return. I was next in line waiting to get my ID checked when an employee named Shane kicked a homeless women in her abdomen so hard she flew off the sidewalk into the street, landing on her back. He was so proud of himself it made me sick. I called the next day to make a complaint, but I doubt they will do anything about it, so I want to let other people know what kind of behavior this establishment allows. Most of the other staff are good, but this was just not ok on any level. This employee should not be working there if he can't handle the job. Besides this, there were 2 other fights in the span of the 2 hours I was there. I'm very sad how it has gone down because it used to be a fun place to go to. read more

I fucking hate pixels, the people who work there take their jobs way too serious. Like lighten up a bit, you work at a bar, not American Airlines security. The last time I was there I was just asking if I could take my drink out, and it got poured out before I could finish my sentence by the bouncer. I may have just gotten use to how it is in Vegas, but it's never good manners to grab someone's drink out of their hand and pour it out in front of them. Super whack. My friend came from out of state and we were just looking for a place to have some drinks and dance a little. When a friend of mine danced a little while waiting in line to be searched, the "body guard" decided he didn't like that much and wouldn't let him in. So we left since our buddy couldn't get in. THEN he went to their sister club across the street and told their bouncers not to let any of us in. For no reason!! It was the oddest and lamest thing I've ever experienced. This is probably my favorite bar in Downtown Riverside. They don't charge a cover even on weekends. The bar staff and security are super courteous and friendly. I last went on a Sunday night, I guess it's called Static Sundays, and there was live music going on. The atmosphere was very welcoming, there's no shortage of places to sit inside or outside. There's plenty of stools at the bar, tables and chairs, a super comfortable booth seating area, and some handmade benches and tables on the front patio. There was great drink specials going on that night and the bartenders didn't water down my drinks unlike the other places do in Downtown Riverside. I've never actually going out here in a Friday or Saturday night, but it seems like it's the spot to be, because when I drive by is always packed and there is a line down the street. When I was there I tried one of the Bleu Cheese Burgers and it was cooked to perfection. If I could give this place more stars, I definitely would. I would recommend this spot to anyone looking for a good time without any drama like you'd find elsewhere. read more

The worst experience I had at the bar. I went with my wife to get some food and drinks. There was not any waitresses , so this Rude bartender attended us. He was a little guy with little man syndrome that thinks he's cool. He called himself D Brad .I ordered a sandwich and a beer and my wife ordered wings. The sandwich bread was stale, the bar tender took a bite and blamed it on me . I had my wife try it and she also said it was stale. The only reason I went there was because I found a Groupon online which he did not tell me it was not valid until the food was brought out. I asked I he can contact his manager about the Groupon and he refused . The only good think about the place was my beer. If you want bad service I would recommend it! read more

Had the worst experience at this place. Me and a few of my friends showed up around 1:10am. The moment we walk in, a couple of us are already getting weird vibes. Me and one of my friends stood at the bar waiting for the bartender to take our order. He finally came over to us and I ordered a beer. He hands it to me, I pay for it, he gives me my change, then walks away to take somebody else's order. He completely skips over my friend and goes to take other people's orders. Three people later, we are still trying to get his attention so my friend can order her drink. He finally comes back to us and my friend orders her drink(10 mins later!). Also, the whole time we were trying to get our drinks, there's an employee off to the side of the bar just staring at us THE WHOLE TIME. That was uncomfortable. We finally go and join the rest of our friends who are already sitting at a booth in a corner table. We are all just hanging out not being loud or annoying whatsoever since half of us were only halfway done with our first drink and the other half wasn't even drinking. At 1:40am, the lights go on. 2 mins later, the same employee who was standing off to the side of the bar came over to our table and with an attitude said "We're closing soon. You guys gotta drink your drinks and get out." We were all very shocked with the way he was acting. A couple of my friends even thought he was just kidding and were waiting for him to say "just kidding" or something but he was dead serious so naturally, we all gave him very puzzled looks. 5 seconds later he says "you think I'm playing?" He begins taking our drinks from us, then proceeds to saying "you guys should have listened to me when I told you to grab your drinks and get out." We were all very shocked and felt extremely disrespected. He was very rude and hostile towards us. He had no reason to disrespect us the way he did nor take the drinks that WE payed for! He had no right to tell us to get the F**** out 20 mins before closing time nor to make us chug our drinks then drive home! It all happened so quickly too. Oh did I mention that we were the only table he did this to? After he took our drinks from us, he basically ran and hid behind the bar area because he probably realized that what he did was wrong and way out of proportion. Shame. I used to like this place but after this awful experience, I am never in my life stepping foot in this pace again. read more

I just moved to Riverside, so I figured I would check out the downtown nightlife. I got a few recommendations to try out pixels from my coworkers, so I went there on my night off. I got there and they had the rudest guy working at the door, it was some guy with glasses sitting on a stool who I thought was just hanging out because he was just texting his friends or reading his email on his phone. I walked passed him and he yelled at me and said I need your (insert bad word here)ing ID. When I handed it to him, he didn't even look up at me. He just quickly looked at it and said next time don't just walk in, as he was handing it back to me. It was moderately busy when I walked in around 9:30. I walked up to the bar and both bartenders saw me from the other side of the bar and the short blonde gal walked right over to me and took my order. They had good selection of drinks to chose from and was impressed with how strong my drink was poured. It was a little dark inside, but it fit the mood for a friday night. It looked as if they were about to have a club night, because I saw the DJ setting up his equipment. I finished my drink and headed out to see what else downtown had to offer. If you could get past Mr. Horrible Bouncer at the door then I would say go to this spot, because they have nice friendly bartenders and a cool atmosphere.
