This tiny tapas bar opened recently in Covent Garden, taking the place of one of Neal Street's old cake shops. Initially it doesn't look like much - the few tapas samples sitting out in the window didn't particularly tempt me - but having been persuaded in by a friend I was very glad I gave it a try. The wine here is served in authentic Spanish style stemless glasses, and is probably the best thing about Pix. There's a good selection of top quality stuff, at reasonable prices. The pintxos themselves are also pretty good, tasty and fresh, and made a great accompaniment to the wine. The best time to visit this branch of Pix is in the summer, when you can sit out on the pavement in the bustle of Neal Street's shoe shopping crowd. We felt like we could easily have been in Madrid or Barcelona as we say there enjoying Pintxos on a sunny spring day. Great for an antidote to shopping! Pix gets pretty busy and lively on Friday and Saturday nights, so be there early to avoid disappointment (table space is quite limited). But the staff are really accommodating and offered us two whole plates of free tapas after a bottle of wine (which they also replaced) was corked. Definitely above the call of duty! read more

Pix - Tapas Bars Near Me - London, XGL

I loved it! I came here with some friends on a whim and was pleasantly surprised. Both the food and the mixed drinks were delicious, as well as the wine list and recommendations. I ordered a passion fruit martini, and it was absolutely delicious! The bartender who made it was a hansom, bearded Moldavian man by the name of Troy, who put more effort and care into mixing my drinks than anyone I have ever seen. Having been on a couple of occasions, and had quite different experiences on each, my opinion of Pix is fairly mixed. The first time was excellent, hot food flowed out from the kitchen at a steady pace and the choice of dishes was ideal. The jamon croquetas were probably the standout dish but it was all very well made. The second visit was nowhere near as good, mainly because there was very little in the way of hot food coming out of the kitchen. I did eventually ask if a couple of dishes could be made, which they were happy to accommodate, but it seemed odd that there wasn't more coming out anyway, particularly in light of the first visit. Overall, I'd definitely go back to Pix because the food is very good quality, it just seems like the service and overall experience can vary a little depending on when you go. read more

LOVED pix. headed there last week to catch up with a friend for drinks- was very happy with the fact that we didn't have to wait around for food, and instead could grab whatever looked appealing to us. Both of us had already had dinner but still made room for several of their pintxos, which are switched out for different ones every ten to fifteen minutes. Love this pinxto stuff even if I can't pronounce it. You know the deal here, there are sticks with stuff on the end, like roles with Iberian ham, chorizo and cheese, croquetas. You eat what you want, graze, pick up something here, something there and at the end of lunch the waiter counts up your cocktail sticks. In Spain this is a very cheap way of having a leasurely meal. In Spain, these thingies cost €1 - €1.50, this is London so they cost £2 - £3. Figure on Spending £15-20 not including drinks. The tapas/pinxtos are actually rather good. read more

This made my trip last time I was in London. I already love tapas restaurants, but I think this place really takes the cake! The decor is cozy and perfect, and the tapas are just laid out in front of you when you come in so you can just drool over all the yummy choices. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable, and the prices are not outrageous. Great place to stop by if you can't decide what to eat, but want to try everything! I haven't come across many pintxos places here in London, but Pix is definitely a good find. Situated in the middle of a bunch of shoe shops in Covent Garden, it's quite unassuming. Would recommend checking it out at lunch or early evening so you can snatch a seat. The pintxos were about £2.50-3, complemented by a stellar wine list. The staff are very nice as well. Walked in off the street without any previous knowledge and was pleasantly surprised. The food is displayed at the front of the restaurant and you go up and pick and mix what you want. I was a bit iffy of the idea at the beginning, but once i got eating... It was great ( I even went back up for more). The staff are great and one girl (the manager, I think) even took the time to chat amicably with me during a quiet afternoon. Hope to go back again. read more

Terrible service. Took ages to get a drink. Then the waitress "hovvered" around my table as soon as I finished eating before announcing she'd made a mistake and my.table was reserved. They don't have reservations in the bar area and I saw that it was two of.her friends who wanted my.seat. She grabbed my glass and started to clean the table before I was finished. VERY excited about this place! Went on Saturday night-- just reserved 30 minutes ahead of time and had no problem once we got there (2 of us). The tapas are DELICIOUS. They really do have something for everyone. It's very reasonably priced and the wine was light and perfectly crisp. We didn't feel rushed at all and the service was satisfactory. Will definitely go back here if I get the chance, I was so pleasantly surprised at how much I loved it! Great atmosphere and great food! I ate here with my cousin when I tagged along on her recent business trip to London and apparently she eats here whenever she is in London. We sat in the window, enjoyed wine and nibbled at the different tapas dishes came out. They keep bringing out new dishes so eat slowly and and wait to see what else is coming out. Always a favourite, with a wide variety of good food. All cheesy tapas are a must, but be careful not to be carried away otherwise out will end up to be an expensive night. Reservation might be necessary as it's mostly busy. read more

Popped in last Saturday afternoon for our first visit to Pix. A warm welcome and quick explanation of how the stick counting works from the young lad on duty. We had window seats at the very front of the restaurant, which was just perfect for people watching. Had some lovely cocktails and the tapas was great. More fresh food was delivered up to the bar every few minutes and I had to really stop myself from over-indulging. Would have given 5 stars but the barman completely forgot to bring us a round of drinks. He was very apologetic when I eventually managed to get his attention and remind him and they were all rushed off their feet. But overall, very good. read more

I am so close to rating Pix a 5 had it not been for the service charge they added to the bill. This is a lovely little tapas bar close to Neals Yard in Covent Garden area. You pick your food from the layout on the bar - if it has a big stick it costs £3.25 and if it has a little stick it costs £2.25. The food was delicious, fantastic value for money. I had a potato omlette with Parma ham, a four cheese fritter thing, a pesto and Serrano ham bread nibble and a chicken skewer with a chilli and yoghurt dressing... YUM! We were served our drinks fairly promptly too, a delicious bottle of the house rose wine, and despite it being a Saturday and busy, it didn't feel crowded in the restaurant which i really liked. I would highly recommend for a visit if you fancy stress-free afternoon nibbles and drinks but I was really disappointed about the extra £8 charge on top of our £40-odd bill for the 3 of us, especially as we had served ourselves. read more

Pix has a lively and intimate atmosphere. The staff navigate a small space with great skill. The drinks menu is extensive with an imaginative range of cocktails.You do need to purchase food with drinks. You fill your personal plate with individual tapas portions. It is fun to have many tasty bites in one meal. Hot and cold dishes are served and replenished throughout the evening. It can be worth waiting little for something fresh or new. Portions may appear small but they are satisfying. Vegetarian options are good. It's a good idea to book in advance. I look forward to my next visit. read more

Great post theater option in the West End! I'm never sure how hungry I will be, nor how hungry my guests might be, after a show, and this is a delicious way to bridge that. Everyone can help themselves, and the options for the pinchos are varied by size and type, so there are choices to suit the entire party. My partner came across this place.There two Pix Bars in London. We went to the Pix Bar at Soho, the other one is at Covent Garden. There used to be another one in Westbourne Grove as well, but it is now closed down. Another bar/cafe has taken its place. Every time I pass by, it is packed. It must be good. I am sure to pay a visit there sometime too. We got there around 3pm, so lunch time was over and it was pretty empty. I heard it does get really busy during lunch and dinner times. For the price and the food served, Pix-Bar will be on low-mid end food bar. Food was well made and tasted good, however nothing to shout about. Very affordable. Within £30 we able to have 8 pintxos and half a bottle of Manzanilla. Excellent place to get together with some friends for some drinks and nibbles. Definitely recommend it. I will definitely come here again. However, I will also like to try its sister bar at Covent Garden. This is one of those places you almost don't want to review in case a barrage of new business ruins the experience, but on the other hand, it deserves the credit. What an awesome place there are others, one in soho, but the atmosphere, the gorgeous and friendly staff, the food and the mojitos make this place unbeatable. Based around Catalan tapas, the food is to die for, and the idea of each dish having a tooth"pick" which is how they charge for the food, genius. Highly recommend the meatball dish and fried balls! I now come here about once a fortnight and it's great for dates/ informal business meetings/ or catching up with friends. Try and get a table near the front though,the back can be quite loud if there's a party on. read more

Utterly terrible- 4 of us went on a Friday night for drinks and snacks: - mis-labelled or unlabelled food (not great if you have anything beyond regular dietary requirements) that ran out quickly and was very slow to be replenished - exceptionally poor service, slow waiters who took over an hour and three separate requests just to bring a bit of bread to the table - waiter brusquely tried to bump us from our table to seat another party of 4, despite the fact that we'd only just received new drinks (and the long-awaited bread); had never been warned about the 90 min dining window (it's apparently printed in tiny writing at the bottom of the menu); and the fact that there were 4 of us, but we were sat next to 2 people on a table for 4, who could much more easily have been moved onto one of the many empty tables for 2 (think another waiter was too busy flirting with them to engage his brain). - same brusque waiter returned to tell us there was no longer a rush because the other party had left, as if (by messing up someone else's booking!) he had done us a huge favour - same waiter kicked up an unnecessary fuss about us asking to split the bill (really how hard can that be? We'd all drunk the same, and the food is all only one of two prices) - drew up a bill that still included the 'optional' 12.5% tip after some of the worst service I've ever received anywhere- nope, that's really not how tipping works, buddy. Basic maths and basic social skills training would not go amiss here, sad to say. I would never eat or drink here again, and would absolutely advise avoiding on any night likely to be busy (er...so...most of them then, given it's in London...). If you want considerably better Spanish food, with good service and a far superior atmosphere than this sweaty, dingy disappointment, try Meson don Felipe at Waterloo or Donostia, Marble Arch. read more
