I fell in Love with Fabric Sep 7th 2019.
Somehow each time I have the Unique Fabric Experience it gets better.
During my 'coming out' period from Oct 2004 until around 2010 my entire clubbing focus was on 'Gay' clubs, so this iconic club was more often avoided. It was not until the sudden but thankfully temporary closure on 7th Sep 2016 that the venue grabbed my attention, so despite me not having been to the club for years, I did financially support the campaign on my belief that there should be diversity of choice, so I joined the #SaveNightLife march on 8th October and was delighted when the club re-opened on 7th Jan 2017.
On 20th Jan 2017 a broken right ankle covered in vivid pink ( had to be pink darling! ) I was not going to let this slight impediment stop me.
Since then the frequency I attended slowly increased, apart from Little Gay Brother on Dec 16 last year, I hardly ventured out of my front door until June 1st, this was the end of a very dark period of my recent life.
To celebrate my 61st Birthday from the previous day, I attended on Sep 7th and literally fell in love with the venue, I can only make the comparison to a fine wine that you need to leave to mature, for the first time in my life to have sustained periods of real 'inner peace' has made all the difference.
Everything connected with me that night. I go to other clubs for example Ministry of Sound, The Prince of Wales Brixton, The Egg, Horse Meat Disco and The Bussey Building for a very different vibe.
OK I may have been born with two balls that glitter and are rainbow coloured, I love my DISCO but I also love my deep electronic house, and for me there is no other club that can compare.
For me Fabric ticks every possible box, from the time you enter, passing through the re-assuring and friendly security team, oh do I love the body search! I feel safe and relaxed. To get me through the night from 11pm until 6am ( why does it pass so damn quick?! ) it is now de rigueur to pop a couple of pills ( hah hah had you thinking I know! ) caffeine tablets in advance, more often throughout the night I will rarely touch alcohol.
Voted by DJ's Magazine Top 100 Clubs, in the top ten eleven times since 2006, let this speak volumes!
'Don't Change For the Sake of Change' The ambience of this venue is beyond compare, in contrast to so many clubs that have had 'refits' over the years, the actual 'fabric' has virtually remained the same, only the music has evolved.
My ignorance is so often bliss! Often when coming to Fabric, I have with the odd exception no 'familiarity' with the DJ line-up, yet this more often enhances my experience, always mindful that the venue invariably selects only the best, this always gives me the confidence to come.
The chill out areas where you can sit but still be in effect be right 'in the sound' is perfect, the final touch when leaving to receive a lovely greeting by a member of the team, is an all too rare experience at other venues.
'Last Night a DJ at Fabric Saved My Life.'
If I believe in a God whoever that may be or in whatever form it takes, Fabric for me is 'spiritual' and so connected to my experience of The Salvation Army, who in June 2019 were in major part responsible for literally saving and changing my life.
Laurent Garnier you will make my night if you play what has always been my all time fave clubbing track on Friday 4th October 'The Man With The Red Face.' Nine Minutes of pure rapture. read more
