This place is amazing in all the right ways. Great cocktails very well balanced in a way to ignite your senses but to go down smoothly. The environment was also nice, they were busy but service didn't suffer at all. The music was on point to promote the right vibe and everyone was beginning to move. This place is perfect if you want a cocktail and more. Tips to make your visit a success: 1) Flavour Map(pictured). Don't know what to get or want to try something new? Flavour map is the way to go. It tells you which cocktails to lean towards depending on your taste. You can't go wrong with this map a great cocktail is picked everytime. 2) Come to have a good time. This location is down some stairs but definitely in a great spot to have some fun. You won't find a laid back crowd here but rather one ready to enjoy the night so come prepared. This place was so packed we couldn't even breathe! Four of us went for just one drink, but ended up with appetizers and another couple rounds. We really lucked out and had a standing table so I think that's what kept us so long and because it was freezing outside. There are tables you can reserve in advance and I highly recommend doing that. Prices are a bit steep, but it's London, what do ya expect? Staff wasn't overly welcoming, but tried to not let them dampen the vibe. Music was good, apps were good. The only way you can get inside is by taking stairs so note that if you have limited mobility. Place is also dim lit if you have low vision. This was my first time going to a Dirty Martini and I was pretty impressed. I don't know if they have food, I'm sure they do, but I was basically there to drink I went during happy hour and all the martinis were half priced...so by my logic they were two for one. The seating is limited but most people seem to hang a few and roll out. So eventually you can commandeer a table or just get conversational and pony up to a table and be friendly. Me personally, I'm secure in my manhood so I don't mind drinking "fruity drinks". I had the Dragonfruit and Pomegranate as well the Peach Hibiscus. My buddy however had some Dirty Martinis. Looking on the internet we came across this bar to visit on out trip to Covent Garden. Opening at 3.00 pm we thought it would be a perfect choice for a martini after our visit to The London Film Museum. Finding it can be difficult as the entrance is quite small. From Covent Garden, facing the London Transport Museum it is on the left just before the museum. Down the stairs to the basement leads into this fantastic bar. As we were early there were only two others inside but this filled out as the hour went on and, I would imagine, fills to capacity later in the day especially as their Happy Hour lasts from 3.00 to 10.00 pm. Immediately we sat down a waiter popped over to say 'Hi' and explained which pages of the extensive cocktail menu was covered by the Happy Hour. He then left us for a few minutes while we perused. Shortly after he returned and we ordered a Passion Fruit martini and a Dirty martini. I was asked whether I preferred vodka or gin. Those martinis were the almost the best I have tasted and another, naturally, went down. Unusually, my Dirty martini had a hint of thyme along with the olives. Then comes the bill. Surprisingly, four cocktails during the Happy Hour came to £18. Now, in this part of town this comes as a 'no brainer'. Where would you get such a great deal. Dirty Martini is fabulous for their Happy Hours more than anything else. I have been to the jam packed outlet on Liverpool Street. This was the first visit to the one in Covent Garden. It's cozier (read: smaller :D) but less crowded. I caught up with a friend, who is relatively new to London and she loved it. Feels like a little cellar. What I also love about Dirty Martini is their mango and chilli martini - it packs a pungent and sweet flavor...there are days I have longed for it. Also like their lavender martini. After fun times at the mulled wine festival, I deceived to get a quick cocktail with a yelp friend near Covent Garden. As a big fan of dirty martini, for their enormous cocktail list, it was a no brainer to go here and we were particularly happy to learn the happy hour went on till 10. The cocktail list is full of great choices, from classic to more incentive concoctions like strawberry and basil martini, and pear and ginger martini. I love anything different so the menu really impressed me. What let it down is it's quite a small venue and after work, it's full, so can make it hard to find anywhere to stand.. Seating is out of the question without a reservation.. Would stop by for a cocktail, but definitely prefer some of the other dirty martinis in London, where there is more space to dance and a chance to sit down. read more

They are well made, yummy and there are lots of options to choose from. The DJs play a great set of music too! A martini by any other name is not the same... I'm going to give this place kudos for the delicious Dirty Martini's & fairly tasty food. I think I scarfed 4 or 5 of these heady drinks on my visit. However, it takes a bit of a nose dive from there... I don't like places that call themselves clubs when they are not. A club is a place you can dance in or it's a venue that has private membership, among other criteria. This place is a bar - no dance floor in sight & it's SMALL. Nothing wrong with bars but don't try to punch above your weight with me. I've stomped in some serious clubs so I know the difference. I also know on a hot summer day in London air conditioning is a must...this place had a dodgy blower on the night I went in. My group was sat at the booth next to the DJ booth - mistake, if you want to have a conversation, which you won't because as I said, this place is a great pretender so blasts its music to full capacity. Fortunately, for me the drinks were strong enough that I became oblivious to the music (or perhaps my eardrums were shot)...anyway, we soldiered on through our party platters. When I find myself in the predicament* of being chucked out of one Covent Garden pub at 11.30 pm** and then bar hopping to find them all closed, the neon pink Dirty Martini beckons. After several hours of chatting with friends and even more glasses of wine you find yourself stranded in Covent Garden with a hole in you that must be filled with dancing and even more wine. Using a friends trusty iPhone app we stumble upon this little club, nicely tucked away in what's normally the bustling market place. After being toughly frisks we head to the heaving bar to wait for a small age to be served ridiculously expensive cocktails. There isn't anything wrong with Dirty Martini, and if it's late, you're in the area and you don't want your night to end this place will do. I can't think for the life of me why anyone would pick this as a destination venue. It's rammed with tourists, and foreign student (it's too expensive for the English ones!) trying to get "a taste" of London and missing it by a mile. read more

You get a little card with choices of alcohol, juices, fresh fruits, etc. You just tic the boxes you want and the bartender will create your concoction. Loads of fun! So when a friend asked me to arrange her birthday drinks and specified she wanted cocktails, I thought why not Dirty Martini. I must say, that the Dirty Martini staff really look after you on your birthday. They provided my friend with a complimentary glass of prosecco and she even had the opportunity to make a cocktail behind the bar. I do love the cocktails there, but I'm a little sad they have taken away the lychee martini. But the passion fruit martini and chocolate martini are a close second favourite. I think this place is better if you book a table as it tends to get busy very quickly (especially on the weekends). Cocktails for beginners. Martinis didn't really taste of what they were supposed to (Honey and Lavender tasted of Apple juice). Cocktail waitress was rude and would elbow you in the ribs rather then ask you to move or simply say "excuse me". Then while stood at the bar a bartender knocked an entire drink down my chest. 3 bartenders stood and stared without apologising. When I asked for tissues or a cloth of anything to try and dry myself off they didn't have anything. I would hate to see how disgustingly dirty their bar must be if they don't have anything to mop up spills. I have *so* many fond memories of this place, I can't even count. I first discovered this place a few years ago with a group of friends, back when I didn't live in London. In fact, this place is responsible for us all having to sleep in Paddington station.... but don't hold that against it. The location is great, right in the heart of Covent Garden next to the London Transport Museum. Watch your heels on the steps down though ladies... Once inside, it's not huge, but it's dark and intimate and more than touch funky. Prices aren't cheap, but the drinks are worth it. The bartenders know their stuff, and do all the flaring and showing-off that you'd expect from a bar with this name. I don't like that kind of service all the time, but every now and again, it's nice to get carried away with someone serving jagerbombs by balancing shots on the rims of the glasses and knocking them in like dominoes. The food here is surprisingly nice (I'm always pleased when a cocktail bar can pull off good bite), and they really do serve the best dirty martini in town. Dirty Martini has the potential of being a really good bar. First I must make clear that this bar is tiny. If you want a good seat you must get there early. They try to entice you with the Happy Hour that runs till 8pm Mon-Sun. The cocktails on paper are fantastic, and they have a huge selection. If you are lucky enough to get a booth seat you can relax in comfort in the darkened surroundings and enjoy table service from the cocktail waitress. With the bar being so small it fills up really quickly. It is quite usual to have to wait up to 20mins to get served, whether you are at the bar or waiting to receive your drinks from the waitress. For most this is a big problem especially as the drinks are not cheap. Dirty Martini is hit and miss. If you get a good seat, and the staff are on form and you don't mind spending a fair amount of cash, you can have a great time. If things start to go wrong, it can go terribly wrong. It is best to come with a group of people and reserve a table to ensure a good night. read more

A Canadian-American in London, over 7 visits to the Dirty Martini and NEVER disappointed. Nicole C. described the Dirty Martini (http://www.dirtymartini.uk.com) as "a dark lounge somewhat concealed downstairs underneath Covent Garden square". I would say it's more dimly lit than dark but she is right when she says concealed, I have been here 7 times and 1 time to the Hanover Square location which is a larger and less dim version of this location (but still has the same charm). Depending on your cell phone and provider, you may or may not get a signal (I could not with the Samsung Galaxy Note GT-N7000 but got a great signal with the Galaxy S4 i9505 and Galaxy Note 8.0 n5100). To my knowledge, they do not have wi-fi but the restaurant upstairs does. Also, there are no power outlets for patron use so if you need a phone charge, get a juice pack. That being said, if you are with friends or want to meet new people, you won't miss your phone. Happy Hour daily between 5pm and 10pm (5pm to 8pm on Friday and Saturday) and all day Sunday includes a list of half-price martinis including my favourites, the Breakfast Martini which includes Plymouth Gin shaken with Cointreau, fresh lemon juice and homemade orange marmalade and Chocolate Martini which includes Absolut Vanilia Vodka, Frangelico Hazelnut Liqueur, creme de cacao shaken with cream and cocoa. half-price bottles of select wines (of which the merlot was excellent) and half-price prosecco drinks. The crowd encompasses all types of people but they seem to leave their attitude at the door. Inside, it's like a mini siesta. Everyone is usually well dressed, well mannered, and having a good time. My last trip to the Dirty Martini (so far) ended on a Thursday, 27 May and featured a DJ whom played excellent choice of dance music. Oddly, I was listening to a song and told my friend it'd be great if he played some Ce Ce Peniston. Eight minutes later, Finally came on. What a way to end my European holiday!! Visited this wonderful place for the first time on Wednesday afternoon - was very excited and was not disappointed! We turned up 5 minutes after opening and the atmosphere was already great. Tried the Chocolate Martini and the Blood Orange Martini which were both totally fabulous - and it was happy hour too! Meaning it worked out £4.50 per cocktail. At some point I was waiting at the bar for about 15 minutes to be served, though, which is the only reason I'm giving a four, rather than five stars. I'd recommend not standing too far towards either end of the bar! However staff were generally very attentive and were often nipping about to take people's orders from their tables which was nice (: definitely hope to visit again soon. read more

Booked a seating area here for my birthday. I wanted a chilled out bar and heard good things about this place. I paid a £50 deposit that I would get returned in food and drink on the night, and also they said that there would be a £20 per person spend. And I still give it 4*'s?! Yes! Here's my thoughts..... 1. I couldn't find the place. Google maps tells you Russell Street, when really it's more like Covent Garden Sq. 2. First thing that struck me when I went downstairs was 'Wow, it's hella busy!' and 'Is this how small it is??' The website makes the place look so much bigger! I'd come about 30 minutes before my table reservation and we were told they would not be able to clear our tables for us. The staff were very accomodating and mixed us drinks that we wanted. 3. Once we were seated, we got the drink rounds in. My favourite drink: Tropicial Pear Martini mmmmmmmm...too good! And £4 when it's happy hour, 10 of these and I was very happy! 4. As the evening went on, it got quite hot as it was tiny in there. But the decor was lovely and it was well lit. 5. Music was a good mix, more rnb/dancey stuff though. But you could still talk comfortably to friends. 6. No table service charge...I need say no more! 7. Our waitress was the most lovely girl. Very accomodating, brought drinks promptly, kept all of my friends bar tabs seperate at request. And she also waived the £20 per person charge. She made my night! 8. Went here a few months ago (just got round to writing the review!). Would never go back. Cocktails were ok. However they were overshadowed by the awful service. Massive wait for drinks, for orders to be taken etc. Waitresses constantly asking for us to pay the bill - yet no drinks showing up. All this as 4.30pm on a Monday night! Not impressed. I was out with friends in London and after a couple of drinks elsewhere we opted to head over the Dirty Martinis, with one friend assuring me that it was good and we'd have fun. Maybe, if a tiny, dark, crowded room with awful music is your sort of thing. When we arrived there was a bit of a queue, all men... and yep, within a few minutes the doorman invited my (female) friends and I inside. Great, it's that sort of place. Entry is £5, which I appreciate is cheap for a club in London, but this place barely qualifies and is tiny - you don't pay to go to bars normally. Most of Dirty Martini is taken up with a dance floor, with a raised seating area at one end, and a bar along the wall. Service was fairly quick, and I don't know what the prices were like as I didn't pay, but the Raspberry Mojito I had was pretty tasty. We made our way through the swarm up to the seats, where the only booth free was the one next to the DJ. So we had the delight of loud, pounding music as we tried to chat. Which would have been fine if the music wasn't awful dance remixes of pop songs. Oh, and we ordered Long Island Ice Teas later on and they were disgusting. Very gingery, and really unpleasant. They went unfinished. Dirty Martini is located underneath Tutton's on the corner of Covent Garden piazza. I went here as part of a crowd to celebrate a friend's birthday. Unfortunately, we didn't have a table booked and ended up being pushed about in this crowded bar. Most of us agreed that we wouldn't normally have come here, but that it was actually a lot more bearable than many other West End places on a Friday night. OK, just don't bother if you are not into cocktails. The bar staff are fairly efficient, but it takes an absolute age to be served. The choice of beers is limited to three or four bottled varieties. Wine list seemed OK, and the Sauvignon Blanc was rather nice. Overall the place had quite a friendly vibe, even though it was far too loud for a decent conversation. The one star off is for the venue itself. It's small and cramped, and you would be in the minority if you manage to find a seat on your visit. Came here on a Thursday after taking an inadvertent academic nosedive, so I was in desperate need of a drink or two (or 4, sigh). The Happy Hour deal is £4.50 for a martini, and they have, honest to God, like 20 different flavor options. I recommend the Winter Pear. There was a brief snafu with my friend's "Bar Tab" card; the waitress charged several extra drinks to it. While that was a bit disconcerting, I'd advise just paying cash rather than skipping this spot entirely. Also, look into the table reservation option. It gets super crowded. read more

Half price on just their martinis, which is great when it's quiet as it is a pretty small basement type place. It's decent though I would take a date there as our table ended up being reserved but we weren't told and the sign has become hidden behind menus. Dirty Martini is a New York styled underground cocktail bar on Covent Garden Piazza. It's not scruffy but it's not so up itself that you can't wear trainers or jeans to get in. The decor is dark and the music seems to dart between house and funk. I really enjoyed the Berry Cosmo and the Lychee Martini but my friend reports bad things about the Dirty Martini itself - it's too alcoholic apparently!! haha. Prices are between £5.95 - £7.95 and they also serve bar food, although I haven't tried that myself. read more

In summary this is a good place, you get what you expect. Which based on the menu should be an excellent choice of drinks (seriously, best cocktail menu at this price so far in London) So, basically as the other reviewers have mentioned it's in Covent Garden, quite well hidden down some stairs near the market. The bar itself is really nicely decorated (and the lighting helps) with the whole place having an intimate atmosphere. It does get cramped, but that's hardly the fault of the bar, the customer chooses whether to use the place afterall. My friends and I did get a table (reservation didn't show) and we went through quite a bit of their menu between us. It's all very good, all were as expected although service was a bit slow (to the table). We did however get used to this and order topups before we finished! As noted, the liquer selection is wide and very good. Chocoltini (or whatever it is called) is fun However there are some wicked Sake based drinks as well. Absolutely disappointed and disgusted in the service that I received on my visit here. There was definitely ageism going on in the way they treated people and they all looked and acted like they couldn't give a *** and didnt want to be there. I made a complaint twice about the cold, dry, tasteless bottomless brunch and was ignored twice. Have emailed them and the service from management has been just as awful as the managers who work on the floor. Absolutely terrible when you've been ill after eating their food and they don't care or take any responsibility for it. With good options at happy hour, the prices soar afterwards, with a beer and vodka tonic setting me back the best part of a tenner. A little overpriced. Also slightly annoying bar staff.
