Boyfriends show up when they shouldn't ('cause I fell asleep on a sofa and never made it to the club) or don't when they should (and it had nothing to do with falling asleep... I think being stood-up by your boyfriend is grounds for dismissal, btw) or worse - the party venue got changed to another club and I never got the text.... Oh, the stories I could tell of the many life-altering evenings when Kitts happened to be on the agenda. Yet I don't think Kitts itself is cursed. This private downstairs venue just off of Sloane Square has a chic vibe and an intimate set-up that make it work. It's *small*... reviewers who were talking/complaining about the diminutiveness of Bungalow 8 haven't seen this place. It's basically just a short bar and a periphery of tables surrounding a dance floor. I'd highly recommend getting a table if you decide to head here... otherwise, I don't know quite where you would put yourself. What's nice about Kitts is that there's usually a party going on. I've yet to come here on a weeknight when it wasn't happening; Kitts feels like the local haunt where the whole neighbourhood eventually ends up at 2am. Along with this vibe, the door staff could also possibly be nominated for being the most charming on the planet. Music is typical, danceable pop stuff... and the crowd is undeniably of the high maintenance variety. But if you book a table and go with a group it's a relaxed place to have a fun night... and hopefully I haven't passed on my curse by mentioning it to you!

I just love the atmosphere, the enthusiasm, the music, you feel transported to another place and I just don't understand how very few people, even those living in Camden, don't know about this bar! I was introduced by a lovely Yelp friend and try and get back whenever I'm in Camden as I really love this place. To me this is one of Camden's real hidden gems. So why do I love it? Let me count the ways: Live music: I'm not sure if there is someone on every night, but I'm always shocked by them hosting some fantastic, extremely talented musicians. Intimate setting: As a tiny little venue you huddle around small tables, it feels cozy, personable and warm. Art work: Walls, ceilings and tables are plastered with art, pictures, paintings collages drape all surfaces. It's like some hipster arty underground cavern... like so many bars in Shoreditch are trying to achieve, but this place isn't trying, it has charm and personality without having to try. Caipirinhas and mojitos: Using traditional Brazilian ingredients the cocktails here are just superb... and after a few you can't help but sink back into your seat and enjoy the ambiance. I'd also recommend the Cuba Libra, I'm usually not a fan, but would make an exception here. As a cocktail bar you need to expect to pay cocktail prices, but the live music, amazing atmosphere and art are free.

ain't nothing but a late night out in soho…read more... ain't nothing but a side street that also houses dishoom, clearly a distraction for anyone hungry. ain't nothing but an overflowing crowd being told outdoors drinking ceases after 10pm? ain't nothing but a one in, one out queuing system, so just stand patiently in line for entry. ain't nothing but relief from the outdoors elements in exchange for a sardines packed indoors on a monday night because there's no cover charge? ain't nothing but jostling for precious real estate as you inch yourself towards the bar to quench your thirst. ain't nothing but cashless transactions, even a cashless tipping machine, just tap and go! ain't nothing but a beer in one hand and a cup of nuts in the other, still inching ever so slowly towards the stage. ain't nothing but non stop live music and a boisterous appreciative crowd making room to groove along. ain't nothing but a long wait to poach one of a handful of tables to sit and soak in the ambience, freeing up your hands to clap! ain't nothing but enthusiastic jamming sets right up till 12.45am. ain't nothing but a good late night out in soho!

As we walked down the first set of stairs we are greated with a David Hasselhoff picture on a door, with 80's music playing, broad smiles crossed our faces. Itcouldn't believe we hadn't been here before! A friend had told us of such a place but to actually be there it was kind of a dream come true. It had just opened so it wasn't busy, we walked around checking out the A-Team, Flash Gordon the screen, and the many, many weird electric plastic things you can buy for cheap. (including a cone bra, glittered hats and glowsticks) The drinks are named after classic 80's things, (blue lagoon, the knightrider) and for £15 you can purchase a plastic margarita glass full of your favourite cocktail the likes of only Vegas can provide. Since it was so early we didn't have to pay cover or wait outside, just walked right in and had a drink each. In the process we bumped into a stag night group who were quite entertaining. The place losses a star because the volume of the music (which border lined on 70's disco sometimes) was deafening for 9pm, and on Friday and Saturday nights it must be avoided as it's THE place for Stag and Hen nights. Meaning a lot of drunken messes. It's only open three days a week so keep that in mind. There's no cover on Thursdays, my friend and myself cannot wait to go back to see how it is during the week with a group of our friends and the proper 80's dance wear.

When we went in at 530 there were maybe 5 or 6 tables with people sitting. It took us 25 minutes to get our drink order only after I got up and tracked down the waiter. Took another 40 minutes just to get our drinks delivered. Now these were a margarita and paloma, not anything crazy complicated and we weren't asking for any top shelf tequila just their basic house drink. It was crazy how slow this team moved, especially too as the drinks were really good. Wish we had stuck with the drinks because the tacos and nachos we ordered were gross. It's a shame the service was so terrible because the vibe was nice, and they had two for one drink specials for happy hour from 2-6.

The Nachos arrived soon after our order was placed, probably microwaved as the nachos where soggy and the size was not at all "super", perhaps I was expecting American Size. Talk about small plates, this nacho order was so small! Disappointing, after tax they cost €12, overpriced, we decided to pass on dinner there. The bar had a patio out back, standard picnic table, placed close together. It was a weeknight, no one out on the Patio, the murals painted on the patio walls, looked like I painted them, and believe me I am not an artist! The bathrooms for the bar are downstairs and quite a distance from the bar. One interesting thing about the water closet was there were two toilets in one stall, not sure what that was about...? It's right on the bus line, so easy to get to, no taxi needed. The tube station was quite a distance, not knowing the neighborhood, we decided to take the bus since the bus stop was right outside the bar. I'm guessing this place could be fun b/c it's brightly colored. Granted it was not a weekend. But I was put off by little service & little portions & big prices.

At Scala the staff look through your bag, do a quick pat down search and if you look young ask for ID. Unlike other venues, where if you have food or drink you have to put it in the bin, Scala use a cloakroom system for items you can't take in. At the door they give you a ticket so you can collect your food on the way out - for free. Last time I went I didn't have my ID so they gave me a green wristband, but they were very lax and said it didn't matter because I had my friend to buy me drinks anyway. The venue itself is simple - walk up some stairs and there's the bar, cloakroom and merch area. Go through some doors and you're in the main stage area. Toilets are right at the top of the building and are impressively clean for a gig venue. What I love is that the stage area has a platform running round the edges and a lowered pit in the centre. This means that whether you're into moshing, dancing or just appreciating the sweet sound you can find an area to stand. Usually I go in the lowered floor and dance about but most recently I stood on one of the raised areas. Where I was stood just happened to be next to the stage door so I had the band standing right behind me watching the support acts. Such a friendly and intimate vibe. I haven't yet been to a club night here but for live music this venue is brilliant.

It's something that I will always admire about that night. The music was obviously my taste and they played so many great songs. The karaoke was an incredible addition to a party like this. People were incredibly friendly and welcoming. The drinks were great too! However despite that, I give it 4 stars because I went alone, and that's my problem in itself. I'm personally dealing with loneliness and depression, and going to these places is my escape in a way. I've met a few new people which is great! Gives me a bit of a step closer out of my comfort zone. People ask me if I'm okay, I tell them I am, had a few drinks, but I need to stop going to these by myself. It's not the kind of party to go alone in. I just have a hard time meeting new people, especially from personal trauma
