I came for a students' night and had a pretty good time. I loved the DJ, and the space was decently big though completely packed. The crowd was, obviously, all students except for one bachelorette party, so everyone was have great time. Aside from good music, nothing stood out too much. Coat check was poorly handled; the line took an hour and the girl often gave back the wrong coats only to have to dig through and try her luck until she found the right one. Also, I'm pretty sure the drinks were heavily watered down, such an annoyance. It's not bad for a night out, but if the cover is expensive, don't bother. read more

Honestly, pretty disappointing experience. First off, you have to pay a cover just to get in, which would be fine if the experience matched--but it didn't. Once inside, it was packed and really hot (especially compared to how cold it was outside), so naturally we had jackets with us. There were stools around the club and we put our jackets on them like many other people were doing. A female security staff member came over multiple times telling us we couldn't put our jackets there, even though others were doing the exact same thing and we were right next to it. The way she handled it came off unnecessarily rude and aggressive, which really killed the vibe for us. On top of that, the bathroom attendant was basically pressuring people to tip just for handing out paper towels, which felt uncomfortable and awkward. Overall, between the inconsistent rules, the attitude from staff, and the pressure for tips, it just wasn't an enjoyable experience. Definitely expected better. read more

I read many of the reviews but the security was super nice to me. Never did I feel unsafe or awkward. The place is a little small and you don't get much service in there as it's like a small basement downstairs. They have a coat check and also a happy hour if you go early. Do not take cash as the bartenders can be very rude and say they don't accept cash when they really do. We literally had to leave the club and walk across the street to get change for a $50 bill. The bar manager seemed nice and sweet but her other two rude bar back ladies were very unprofessional and seemed to not want to be there. Dj was awesome and music was on point. wish i could leave lower than one star. they physically grabbed me and pushed me at their club in the heavy rain and this is the worst experience ive ever had. i'm a 22nd year girl and they were aggressive, made me feel super unsafe, im from the united states coming here excited on my vacation and i took the train and walked through the rain just to enjoy a night out in london just to get yelled at and shoved into the rain. this place is low class and has a disgusting attitude towards young women. do not come here because you're wasting your time. they need better security because the one there at january 4th 2025 needs to get fired. The bouncers continuously questioned my friend, telling them they were too drunk to be let in. My friend had to explain that they have a disability and naturally walk with a limp, they only had two drinks beforehand and weren't drunk. They kept insisting my friend was too drunk, and another one of my friends had to come out of the bar to explain that they have a disability and walk with a limp. It was humiliating for my friend-- if someone has to explain their disability, it should be taken seriously and clearly isn't a lie. Later on in the night, another friend came to meet us at the bar. She was practically sober and again, the bouncers insisted she was too drunk to be let in. Out of the entire group she came with, she was the only minority and was the only one not let into the bar. She had to wait outside alone for the rest of us to come outside and leave with her. Based on the previous reviews, the staff is grossly unprofessional. I have to post an update on this original review. I went to London again and this time signed up for the London Party Pub Crawl hosted of of Rumba twice. I was met with more professional door staff, and had a better experience on two nights. The first night, I ordered a drink and accidentally spilled it while sliding it over the bar to where the napkins are in the corner. The bartender gave me another drink for free and told me not to worry about cleaning it up, even after I offered to and apologized for it. He made me feel at ease, rather than scolding me for my mistake. The second night, I ordered a drink from a lady bartender, but she had more of a glossed over didn't-want-to-be-there look. We came back to Rumba to conclude the night, and the music was good. The establishment did have slightly more men than women though, and one of those men who was with his girlfriend approached my friend because the girl was looking at us. I thought there would be the possibility of a physical altercation, but IMMEDIATELY a bouncer came right up to the guy before anything could escalate and removed him/his party since they had caused other trouble. They really made sure nobody got hurt, and kept the place safe for us. I have to commend the place for their service and professional bouncer staff, but will take a star for the lady bartender who didn't care to be there, and other small things. read more

Ooooh well done Bar Rumba. Happy hour here is pretty wonderful. I don't know what we were drinking, but it was £15 for two pitchers of yummy cocktail. And we were quite merry afterwards. The bar is great, dark and intimate, but a lot of fun as well. The music they have here is fantastic and it's fun and friendly. It's not expensive, which for this part of town is a surprise. It's well kitted out enough to charge a lot more, so it might be best to get down there before they realise this. read more

Went for a birthday party on a Friday and have to admit I did enjoy myself (don't judge!), HIGHLY recommend you go for HAPPY HOUR as the drinks are seriously cheaper (and still kick back strong) than anywhere else. Bar Staff: kind and attractive woman in corsets (because who doesn't want good tips?) who know how to make a good drink. Music: very fun, upbeat, pop, with a little mix of old school 80's classic awesome. Clientele: Like a true city there was a mixture of Gay, Straight, 20's-40's, business suits, and girls in short... things. Honestly I have no idea where a lot of these women bought clothes but I am sure in their eyes they were absolutely stunning. If only I were that brave. read more

Came here on a Friday night. Wait was 30 min, cover was 5 quid. Basically we paid to enter a large frat party where it was super sweaty/sticky. The ground was literally slippery on the dancefloor... #bye. Bar wasn't exactly cheap, and the bathrooms queues were ridiculously long. They might offer you a free shot so that you're lured to pay the cover and enter Rumba, but even the free shot is only half the size of a regular shot. IMO, only redeeming quality is the hip-hop music. Tl;dr - There are so many cooler pubs and clubs to check out in London. Pass this one. read more

I wanted to like Rumba a lot more. Yet, it falls short in many areas. I booked a guest list for my birthday party. We had to be in before 11pm or pay 10 pounds. Beyond reasonable. We arrived at 10:30pm and not let in. After speaking to the bouncers (after the event staff person), we were finally let in without the cost of paying. It's sketchy. Down in a basement you go complete with tourists, bar crawls, etc. A friend of mine had her phone stolen during the evening. Bathrooms could use a good clean as well. read more

Went here while on vacation in London. Got free entry both times which was nice, however, the drinks were more expensive than most. Thank goodness I obly paid half price for my drink due to it being happy hour. If you're gonna go, DEFINITELY go during happy hour. There are two dance sections, one close to the bar, where there are also a few booths, but it's a very tight area. The second area is more spacious, and the lighting was actually quite nice. I wish i could give this one star. I am so angry and disappointed about how the staff acted tonight. As one of 3 sober young girls going on one of our first nights out we were met with a complete lack of respect and duty of care. We were blocked from entering the club despite being sober and having tickets and were refused entry with no reason. When trying to ask respectfully why we could not enter there was no response. When asking the names of the staff we were dealing with we were mocked and given false names eg "Bob" or completely ignored. We then didn't know what to do and was bombared at the entrance by sexist and misogynistic men who tried to take advantage. No staff member was atall helpful, straight up or honest. Even a decent reason as to why we were not allowed in would have made a huge difference. Please do better. Bar rumba was the reason our night was marred. read more

Bar Rumba is a small underground club with a dance floor and good sized bar. Mostly hip hop/commercial rap played, always packed out over the weekends with the cool crowd. Drinks priced well for a west end club but the menu is not that diverse. An all round good night out, friday's being the better night to jam there. read more

I am surprised by some of the reviews of staff being unfriendly as i had a total opposite experience. We booked a table there last Saturday for my friend's birthday. When we got there we are given a queue jump and taken straight down to our table by one of the host/manager and he was very polite. We were then served a giant martini... Wow that was amazing. My friends and I, good hard working people, who deserve a good night out, booked our entry fee ahead of time. By doing this, we thought we would avoid lines and get cheap drinks, as advertised. THINK AGAIN. We had to wait in lines and when we tried to explain to the bouncers our situation they YELLED AT US. Everyone I spoke to at this place was unbelievably RUDE. When trying to get the 2 for 1 drinks, with the wrist bands (that were put on WAY TOO TIGHT), I was given 4 drinks when I asked for two and I was forced to pay for all of them. Bad service. This is my 1st review ever. Went here as a last resort on a Monday night for my last night in London. Was pleasantly surprised to see it was fairly active and had above average music. Only £5 entry. I give it 5 stars not because it was perfect, but because it exceeded my expectations for a dance club on a Monday night. Central London club free fri/sat/sun day nights before 10pm for ladies £10 pounds there after and £10 pounds for guys. Not a bad size dance floor the music ranges from RnB, hip hop and mainstream RnB gets full but there's still space to move around there are a good few seats but that shouldn't matter because you shouldn't be sitting down any way any how. Up on that dance floor is where you should be. There's a DJ and sometimes if you're persistent enough he'll do requests esp. if it's someone's birthday drinks are quite expensive so come with a little something tucked away. I love salsa and if you do too, it's a great place to find a good dance partner. However, here's my warning, if you're not single, be careful, some dancers get a little too close for comfort. Hands down worst experience I have come across in any night club, in any city, I have been to. Had a chance to experience "We love student Monday's" which seemed to lack one main component, the students, as well as anyone else in sight. We payed for highly priced low selection of beer, and listened to the dated 2009 chart toppers of The Black eyed peas, so much for "the best of commercial hits, R&B and Hip Hop," as advertised. After suffering through 10 minutes of the empty scene my bud then was required to turn his hat around by security in the bar, for some very unknown reason, as if wearing a ball cap forward on your head is suspicious behavior. After the protective security measures of twisting around a hat in order to save the lives of the 2 other individuals of the bar, me and my friends decided it was best to leave, hands down being the best decision regarding "Rumba" we made all night. Maybe find a night where they can manage to draw a crowd of any kind, other than that, don't waste your money and find a nice pub to get hammered with your friends at, guaranteed will be better than wasting your time and money at this establishment. Strong D&B scene on Thursdays Movement, a weekly Drum and Bass event, draws a mixed crowd of tourists and regulars. The music policy is great, and the vibe is quite strong due to the confined space and insatiable beats. the worst place in London... i went there 2 months ago with my friends , place was horrible, drinks very overpriced staff very arrogant ....terrible music and atmosphere ... on top of that in the end of a night when I was requesting my coat back from cloak room, member of staff staff informed me that my coat is not there, when I asked what do I do now? ,they replayed "unlucky". It was cold night and I was coming back home with no coat... The description of Bar Rumba on their site, left me with the impression that there was the potential for dancing there. Instead we found the need for coffee. The music is chill and eclectic, but better suited for dining or lounging. Unfortunately, they turn the music up louder and louder in hopes to get the party started, which leaves no ability to talk and no desire to dance, so the crowd is left with just staring at the DJ or their drink. When I asked if they would be playing dance music anytime soon, because I could not bare another hour of waiting for something interesting to happen, the DJ said angrily, this is dance music. I displayed the backdrop of people standing and staring off into space, with not one even bobbing their head and said, I don't think so. It was extremely boring, empty at 1am still and trying to cause a buzz outside by making a line - hoping for the illusion of desirability. They'll need a lot more magic for that to happen. read more
