I found a painting quite literally yesterday, brought it in immediately after, and within 24 hours I've got a fully framed beauty ready to hang on the wall. First off, the selection of frames is amazing - and there was absolutely no upselling involved. Dory helped find the perfect frame for my (pretty gigantic) painting, and it was about 1/3rd of the cost that I was anticipating for a work of this size. Dory asked me if I had any deadline and I told her I didn't, but that I also am not the most patient person so sooner is always appreciated. I did NOT expect that sooner meant the very next day. Today I picked it up, it was wrapped carefully and in perfect condition. I gotta find more stuff to frame at this rate, these folks are just that good. Couple of minor quirks: They don't have a local shop to purchase from so I had to order online which was not an issue. The account set up and ordering were easy as the online portal is fairly intuitive. I only needed the frame for a photo I had purchased but they require a photo to be uploaded which again, not an issue (it allowed me to check their print quality aside from frame quality for future projects).

I wanted to…read moresupport a local business, since I usually get my prints serviced elsewhere, and then I saw an artist have a good experience with Lumaprints and wanted to give them a try. Their quality didn't meet my expectations with prints that had creases running across the pieces, and while it may sound quite unforgiving, it was because I needed the prints as a gift for a friend who had gone through a loss. I put an order in on May 6th for an 8x8 and 5x5 print and was told they were available to be picked up on the 11th. I let them company know I'd pick it up on the 15th and took time off work to do so. But upon inspecting the prints later, the creases across the prints ruined this gift idea. I've attached a picture since I was surprised there wasn't a quality check on these. It happened to be that I got 2 prints ordered through their site and did a will-call to pick up the prints. Their turn around time is quite decent, but the hours of operation does make it challenging to pick up, since they open M-F from 9am-3pm, which makes it hard if someone is working those hours and doesn't have a long break I emailed Lumaprints about my disappointment in the quality of the prints I received, and an associate, Jessy, was quite responsive. I give credit for the fast customer service response. But since it was on Friday that I picked up the initial prints, that would mean having to wait until the following week, and it was too late by then for me to give the gift that weekend. Jessy did let me know that they would reprint my order and expedite my prints so I could pick it up. That was definitely the standard thing to do what is right. However, I was going to be unable to take time off work to go pick up the prints again, so I asked Jessy to bill me an invoice for USPS ground shipping to have the prints shipped to me. Once I completed the shipping charge invoice, they sent out the prints to me. I received the prints on May 21st since I was somewhat local. In addition, it's strange that Lumaprints seem to be off on their measurements. I ordered a print in 8x8 and had to trim the print to fit this into an 8x8 frame I purchased from Michael's Arts and Crafts. This too added to my frustration. The overall experience I had with Lumaprints definitely left me disappointed.

I brought Jack an old, irreplaceable family portrait painted on delicate rice paper. It had…read morepreviously been improperly mounted at Michaels, which left the rice paper with noticeable creases. Jack handled the portrait very carefully and did a beautiful job reframing it. The existing creases cannot be completely removed, but they are now much less noticeable, and the finished presentation is beautiful. If you have an old Chinese painting or other delicate artwork on rice paper, I strongly recommend finding a framer who has experience handling this type of material. Not every framing shop or individual framer has that experience. I wish I had taken my portrait to Jack in the first place.
