Most days I would endure the rudeness of the manger (i think he's the manager), however when my mom came and he was unbelievably rude and crass with her - this is where I draw the line. The owner is always sweet and kind- it's sad that because of him she will lose more customers. I hope things change. All customers - but especially those that are loyal and drive 25 mins out of their way to bring business (especially in these trying times) should be treated with respect. read more

I came here for the first time a few weeks ago and it was the best açaí bowl I've ever had.

I have been passing this place for months every morning and never thought to step in until I wanted a good smoothie and I think the smoothies here are really good. I love how they have so many juice and smoothie combinations to choose from unlike the maximum 6 choices you have at chain joints. I finally had an acai bowl from here and it was so good. Crunchy granola and bee pollen, bananas and crunchy, fresh almond butter. And it's was cold so I can see this being a summer staple for me. Can't wait to try more items from their menu! read more

I wanted to love this place. The ambiance is so beautiful and relaxing, with lots of counter space to work. They serve a variety of juices, smoothies, acai bowls, coffee, and light vegetarian fare. I came in at around 4pm, and they were sold out of coffee and acai, the two things I was most interested in trying. The barista was surly and did not offer any suggestions for alternatives. The food menu seemed boring and overpriced-$12 veggie wraps, $8 avocado toast. I decided on a Viva Verde smoothie, which came to $9.50 with tax. It was okay, and included plenty of OJ, kale, mango, and banana. However, I feel it was overpriced for a non-organic smoothie. I think Pitanga has a lot of potential for greatness, considering the ever-gentrifying nature of Bushwick, but they need to step up their game. We went here on a Friday morning to get a quick breakfast. What a surprise to see a place offering gluten free Brazilian cheesy bread snacks (pão de queijo)! My boyfriend ordered a breakfast sandwich with avocado, egg, cheese and tomato along with an iced coffee. The prices are comparable to what I would expect in the neighborhood-which is a little high. I ordered the pitanga acaí bowl. The place has a really nice airy vibe, seems like there were some regulars who come to do their work there. Our order took a little longer than I would have liked, probably about 20 minutes, but we weren't in a huge rush and it was a nice place to relax. Overall, both of us really enjoyed our food, the ingredients were high quality and the flavors were great. This is my favorite coffee shop in this neighborhood! I've tried their iced coffee, matcha and almond milk lattes, all of which are good. They use a cold brew for their iced coffee, though I believe 9/10 places do that these days to avoid watered down brew. They also have an extensive menu of juices and smoothies that I have yet to try. For food, there are acai bowls and baked goods with vegan/GF options (banana bread and carrot cake). There's nothing really special about their juice, I've had just as good juice at Tony's Pizza down on Knockerbocker. I asked a friend who's been in Brooklyn longer, bushwick area, and she said that most ppl have tried this place but then go to Owl Juice Pub. I went there it was a whole different vibe. Love this place and glad it's so close to home! An incredible fresh and healthy menu with lots of smoothie and juice options which I'm really excited about! They serve Kitten coffee and the barista was definitely skilled. I got my cortado with homemade coconut milk and it was well executed. We came here because of the high star rating on Yelp to have a chill breakfast and coffee and left unsure of why this place has a 4.5 star average rating. Atmosphere is decent and quiet, but the prices are Manhattan-level for mediocre food with tiny portions. Pao de Queijo, one of my faves, is not made fresh. It should be made fresh to order to maintain its chewy cheesy center - mine was pulled from a pastry window where it had been sitting who knows how long and then toasted. Not the same. AND it's $2.75 for a single (small) piece. My Brazilian breakfast was tiny and mostly black beans, and although it's not listed anywhere as vegetarian there's not a shard of bacon or beef on the menu. Coffee was nothing to write home about and also more expensive than higher quality coffee spots that roast their own. And even the juice I got, which I thought was their wheelhouse, was just ok. read more
