I try to support small businesses and I'm not one to leave 1 star reviews, unless truly the food experience was horrible... And let me tell you, it was! We ordered the Pita Bowl with Shawerma to go. Once arriving home and excited to eat it, we discovered it was literally a bed of rice with a few pieces of meat on top and some medicocre tasting sauce. No salad, no pita bread, nothing else included, and definitely not enough meat. Not sure in what world they thought that was presentable to give to a customer, I wish we had seen it before they packaged it to go. I cannot believe that was $16. The place was empty and we were the only customers. Still, we looked at the pictures of the food posted on the walls and thought the items look good. But the reality looks nothing like the photo. I think pita land is a local chain of falafale/shwarama places? They are fine, I wouldn't recommend them over anything else, and I wouldn't say that you should make a special trip to come here. But they are perfectly fine for what they are. I come to various pita lands often enough, because they are decent and convenient. read more

After reading the reviews, we wanted to give this place a try. It was our last full day in Ajax and a storm was brewing. So, we decided to try this place before hunkering down in our room for the rest of our stay. The place was empty when we went in. It looks like a small cafe with very minimal decoration. One wall has an elaborate mural that depicts a bustling town while the other wall is covered in an intricately-patterned wallpaper. The space around the mural is painted in a warm red tone and next to the wallpapered wall is a refrigerator stocked with drinks. A TV hangs above the refrigerator. There are also five tables in total. Daughter ordered the gyro wrap and jazzed it up with tabbouleh, hot peppers, onion, tzatziki and tahini. She didn't order the mushrooms because she didn't recognize it. She said that it was absolutely DIVINE and don't get her started on the poutine. She'll be here all day raving about it. We also ordered the beef shawarma poutine. LOL. Daughter loved it because it was double fried with meat and sauce on top of it. We all loved it and believe that this was the best poutine we've had so far. Daughter said that she would finish it, if she could. But, she couldn't because of diabetes and she had to watch her carbs. Hubs and I shared the falafel wrap as well. He thought it was pretty good and liked the fact that he could add anything to it. More onions and less lettuce and he had mushrooms. This place is kind of like Chipotle, where you can add any toppings you want to the entree. It's kind of cool. They also have different sodas that we haven't see in any of the Canadian supermarkets. That was neat and hubs enjoyed that part. He saw Canada Dry's Tahitian Treat soda, which he hasn't seen since the 70s. Service was quick and friendly. Place was bright and clean and felt warm despite it being cold and snowing outside. so happy that i was recommended to try this mediterranean spot, in my area customer service: nice staff, clean place food: i loved their salad options- for my veggies i got lettuce, pickles, banana peppers, tomatoes, turnips, tabouli, onions and mushrooms, then some hot sauce and tzatziki. the chicken was crispy and had it's own flavor which was great- i usually find that other restaurants have bland chicken and fill the bowl with sauces. it was a little pricey- i got charged extra cause i added more veggies and they weren't very generous but overall, the bowl was very delicious read more

Ordered take out for late lunch/ early dinner. Pros: the most delicious garlic potatoes EVER. Everything else we ordered was fantastic but the garlic potatoes are the star of the show. Friendly service, food is prepared promptly. Cons: our family wants to order from here every day, which is cost-prohibitive as well as not the best when it comes to reaching our weight-loss goals. This used to be my favourite gyro spot. The flavour was great, the servings were generous and the prices were reasonable. However, now that all pita lands have been standardized, this place went from a 4.5/5 to a 2/5. The prices increased while the servings got much smaller. In addition, a bunch of the free toppings became premium toppings which you have to pay extra for. I noticed a difference in the taste too. I think the taste has gotten much more bland compared to before. Standardization is not always a good thing! read more

They don't have beef shawarma! How can you be a shawarma place if you only have chicken and gyro? Taste-wise, it's so-so. Nothing great. I think they try to rip you off by asking what toppings you want without disclosing that most are extras. You'll only find out when they hand you the bill. I don't mind paying for what I ask for but I also want full disclosure. Never coming back. There are better shawarma places in Durham. read more

The wraps here are solid but be careful because feta, jalapeños, tabouli, olives, etc. will cost you extra. I got the 12' falafel wrap with all the extras for around $14 with no drink or sides. The falafel wrap was great with all the additions. The falafel was great because of all the add ons which added tons of flavor and keep the falafel moist but overall I thought it was expensive. I know, I know, eating out is expensive but this is only worth the money if you are craving a solid wrap. If you get a wrap without the extras and aren't that hungry you can get a 8.5' wrap for around $8-$11 with no drink or sides. Check it out for yourself... read more

Everyone raves about this place so I thought I'd try it. I ordered the chicken shawarma plate which was 11$ ish on the menu. I found they were stingy on basically everything... I got two potatoes with my meal and the whole thing was rice and salad with a few pickles, onions, peppers etc. when I got to the cash to pay it was $15 because some toppings aren't included in the plate? Extremely disappointing. I've had cheaper shawarma plates in the past and gotten way more food. Don't get me wrong the food was tasty... Just not 15$ for lunch tasty. This is by far the best Pita Place in the Durham Region and GTA. Chicken and Gyros is always cooked perfectly, the workers treat you like you've been there a million times before (I definitely have), and the potatoes are perfect. Can't go wrong at Pita Land Ajax. The chicken taste good but everything else was kind of just... blah.... I enjoy when my chicken shawarma comes with good flavourful rice, I would love saffron (but can't have everything), but this rice was just plain white bland rice. Even the potatoes didn't have seasoning. read more

I was a frequent customer of this place and find the prices fairly high for what I order and the food quality is very hit or miss. But I was not pleased with my most recent visit today, the younger guy who works here is a complete idiot and made zero sense with what he said to me after I asked him for more of a FREE topping on my salad. He placed literally 3 turnips on my salad and I asked for more, as I was checking out he proceeded to tell me how it's not about the extra items but how they have a calorie counter now they try to stay under because they could be sued. First of all turnips are LOW IN CALORIES, second of all they are CHEAP TO BUY, and lastly who's suing anyone over something so petty that I ASKED FOR. Please don't ever mention calories to a paying customer, a female at that - it's just disrespectful and offensive. Not to mention he either charged me for the additional 2-3 turnips he placed or their prices have increased. I won't be returning to this location again, I should have just walked out without paying after hearing that rude remark. read more
