I ordered the Hong Kong Style Egg Waffle on Thursday evening. At this hour, it is past the usual dinner rush and these snacks/ dessert orders become more popular. Taste: the egg waffle was not bad, but I've had better elsewhere. It is pass-able, and would give it a 3/5 Service: when we ordered, the cashier said it would take 10 minutes. There was a lady before us who ordered the egg waffle. As she reached to grab the waffle from the counter, it slipped out of her hand and it fell to the floor. Part of the egg waffle fell out unfortunately. The customer spoke to the server, and it seemed the server was giving OUR egg waffle to this unfortunate customer for free. I'm sorry she dropped her egg waffle, but why do we have to now wait another 10 minutes because the customer dropped her egg waffle?!?!?! Very POOR customer service. Great value. 3.5 stars... I was pleasantly surprised how much steak I got... 2pcs of what looks like thin sliced fast fry steaks about 5-6" long. At this price it's not Prime rib mind you... but still good... likely had something to help tenderize this cut. Plus some vegetables... some corn and carrots for a balanced meal. The egg was a tiny bit underdone... some small parts were still translucent. Loved the black pepper sauce. It's a food court so the service was fast. You also get a free drink and a dessert soup... red bean this time. Totally worth it. Would have liked and little more rice but since I got a good amount of stay that's a excellent trade. read more

If you're ever lost and wind up in Markham, head to the food court located in First Markham Place. Besides the numerous Asian food kiosks, there is one bold enough to claim "the best spaghetti bolognese in town". I am one never to refuse a challenge and immediately ordered one with an extreme look of doubt on my face. I upgraded to a lemon ice tea for only $1.50 extra which was flavorful and not watered down with plenty of lemon slices. The bolognese spaghetti came in a large rectangular tin, baked with alot of cheese and a very meaty sauce, wowza! When I was a child I loved eating Chef Boyardee spaghetti and meatballs. On the very first taste, these wonderful memories gushed into my brain. Soft/overcooked spaghetti (could have been a little more al dente but then again I wasn't expecting Italian restaurant quality in an Asian food court) smothered in meaty sweet tomato sauce covered in cheese. I swear the ratio of sauce to pasta is 50/50 ( for all the sauce lovers out there ), after all, who likes eating dry spaghetti. I know to the so called Italian cuisine connoisseurs this spaghetti would be considered blasphemy but to each their own. While everyone else in the food court was eating their dumplings, noodles and BBQ meats, I gorged myself on my spaghetti and needed at least 2 large napkins to wipe off the large orange/red stain around my mouth. One of my go-to food court spots. I've been coming here for MANY years. The food and menu is consistent and the owner is amazing. This spot serves Hong Kong staples. Prices are good and portions are good! I love that most of these combos come with a drink and soup. At my most recent visit, I ordered the Satay Chicken Skewer on Rice with a cold lemon tea ($11.50). The flavours were really good, super filling, and it comes in a reusable take out container to bring home too. Their menu is extensive and they serve rice/spaghetti dishes, wings, sandwiches, noodle soup, HK snacks, desserts, etc. Also, during big holidays, I know they take turkey orders which is usually stuffed with sticky rice. The sign is pretty obvious - very colourful and a lot of menu items available all over. Staff are pretty nice and orders are done relatively quickly. Cash payment only - typical standard food court layout. Food They standardized in HK cafe style setup - so you have your breakfast items like egg/ham/toast or macaroni noodles. There are also snacks like fried chicken wings or fried toasts. Then there's also your standard meal sets like the one I ordered, Spaghetti Bolognese (~$10.99). All their meal sets come with a drink of choice. The bolognese is pretty good - huge in quantity and with plenty of sauce. The meat itself can be a bit more - but it is very filling and comforting. Their milk tea is pretty standard, not super smooth - but not bad quality or watery. This place as far I remember has been here since the food court opened - so I'm glad it's still running business during this tough time and have established a good clientele. Was in the mood for egg waffles, and noticed this place while in the food court of First Markam place. I usually go to Tung Tung Dan in Pacific Mall, but decided to give this a try. It wasn't as good as Tung Tung. For starters, it took much longer for them to prepare them because they don't specialize in these. I waited around 10min I think (as opposed to seconds). Not sure how the price compares since I haven't been to Tung Tung since the recent inflation. I did pay 2 for 6.5 after tax (initially just wanted to order one but its only $2 extra for 2). The waffles themselves also weren't as good. They were too crunchy (I prefer the soft texture), and also borderline flavorless (weren't sweet enough). read more

Since I moved to Markham a few years ago, I have been going regularly to First Markham Place mostly for shopping, haircuts and of course the Food Court!! I have tried many of the food booths and this one, Magic Fusion Cuisine is a very well known Hong Kong Cafe Style Food booth in the Markham Central Area. Many times when visiting this mall or looking for something to bring home for a quick meal, I've stopped here to get food. I've eaten quite a few items from the menu, but one of our favourites is the Spaghetti Bolognese, which their version is not bad at all. Keep in mind this is not Folco's of Unionvile's Bolognese or classic Italian Bolognese which I have had at countless Italian Restaurants all over North America, but a very good, Mega Cheesy version which is a hit at our house any day. This version of Bolognese is served in a tray and it's only ten dollars ( last time I got it ). It's enough to feed 2 adults and two kids and have leftovers, so that's a plus for parents and out of town visitors looking for a quick meal. On one of my last visits during the pandemic, many of the food booths had tables outside the mall where you could order food and they would go and bring it to you. Their food is also available from the typical food delivery services like Uber Eats or Fantuan. Since I always like to try new things, on the last visit I picked up three times, yes, I got the Bolognese, but also a dish with a large Deep Fried Chicken Wing with a fried egg, rice and veggies and curried braised beef. This was a recommendation from one of the guys manning the table outside. As usual, everything was delicious and cheap. Although I do eat from some of the other food booths at First Markham Place, Magic Fusion Cuisine is a hallmark of consistency, quality and affordability. Cockroach image alert!!! The food is quite good, not amazing for the price, but quite good. However I wasn't too happy about paying full price for an iced milk tea when the meal comes with a free hot drink. Normally restaurants only charge an extra $1-1.50 for an "upgrade". We didn't get straws either, but maybe it was a blessing in disguise...because halfway through the drink as the ice melted we saw a little COCKROACH floating on top. Considering there's other food options in the food court to get HK style food, this could've been better. Ordered a classic baked pork chop on spagetti with tomato sauce and lemon tea. The meal came with some sort of soup but my friends and I were trying our hardest to figure out what it was supposed to be. It was thick and a pale pink, so I assumed there was some type of tomato in it, but it was oddly thick as if someone had thrown a lot of cornstarch or other type of thickener in it. We all tasted a little bit of it but to our surprise -- there was no taste to it?? We've never seen such an odd liquid. Moving on to the actual food: the spaghetti and tomato sauce was pretty average, nothing special about it. The baked pork chop was half fat and not much meat to it. Initially when I opened the meal the portion looked huge and I thought I wouldn't be able to finish it. But after mixing the food around, and cutting into the pork chop, I quickly saw that half the protein I would not be eating as it was pure fat. The lemon tea was good and a had both strong flavors for the tea and the lemon. I've also had their egg waffles in the past and they're no on par with Tung Tung in Pacific Mall. This is the only place in the FMP foodcourt that I will make the trip JUST for takeout. They serve HK cafe style food, but all day long. They boast that their bolognese spaghetti is the best, and I agree. Aside from this place, my other go-to spaghetti bolognese place is Woodstone Eatery, but for takeout, this place is cheaper. It's about $11.50 for the set meal when you pick up at FMP. It comes with a soup (or dessert sometimes), and coffee/tea. You can add $1-2 to swap the drink for an iced HK milk tea. We also recently tried their wings. It was $8 for wings and fries. The flavour was really good but it didn't stay too crisp in the takeout box. The price is honestly very similar to HK cafes for dine-in prices, which is surprising because it's always takeout only. But at least the food is yummy enough to justify it. read more

I've been here many times, and my favourite meal to order here is the Egg & Corned Beef Sandwich with a side of Fries. Simple, filling, and delicious. Their other dishes are great too! Like their Smoked Salmon pasta, and their Black Pepper Sauce Chicken with rice/spaghetti. I would highly recommend people to try this place out. Only downside to this the PARKING at First Markham Place. It is very tough to find a good parking spot closer to the mall entrance. FYI: Enter the mall from Door B. This is in the food court of First Markham Place so there's lots of parking and seats. This tasted pretty generic and plain but was filling. The fried pork chop had a very light breading which I appreciated and it wasn't too oily. Kind of hard to screw up the rice, egg, and veggies, so those were ok. My biggest issue with this was the tomato sauce which had a really weird taste to it. It almost tasted like canned tomato sauce with a touch of cream to make it less tangy. Came with cold soya milk. No review for this place even after 15+ years of existence? Wow. Though this place did change its name to Magic Fusion Cuisine several years back after undergoing an expansion. For the prices offered in this place, I can't argue much. It's your typical fast food place serving typical fast food with typical fast food quality at typical fast food prices. They do have daily specials everyday which are worth it sometimes. Drinks are hit or miss, depending on the quality of the tea (in the case of milk tea or iced lemon tea). I tend to have better luck with the drinks at night than during the day though. For the FMP food court, this is overall one of the places I regularly visit simply because it's usually open the latest and the low prices they offer. Pho Lings, Yan's Cook, and Tasty House are some of the others I also recommend. read more

They forgot to mix my MSG powder so first couple bites didn't have much flavour. Just took a bite with all the powder inside which was extremely salty. Bit disappointing that they didn't just mix it for me ahead of time. Steak and eggs was average as well. I received the wrong order...asked for the pork chop with tomato sauce baked rice but was given some sweet and sour chicken with rice. Not sure if there was a price difference. The food isn't bad but really not what I was expecting to get or what I wanted to eat. The 5 pieces of chicken is tender but the sauce is way too sweet, mixed with a lot of fried potato, some onion and green pepper. I also added a taro bubble tea for $1.25. The sign stated "add" so I thought I would still get the drink that's supposed to come with the combo (coffee or hk milk tea) but I think it's just a grammatical error because I only got the bland taro bbt. This is my go-to place to eat whenever I am in First Markham Place, as all the other food places offer big meals, and I believe this is one of the few ones wherein I could get a simple small snack. I always try to get different small snacks (sandwiches) everytime, and I must say the portion sizes are much smaller than other HK style places, and the taste is bland most of the time, therefore 2 stars for the food. Service is friendly, so I am giving them an additional star for that. Over-all pretty average HK style place for a small food court, I just really wish their portion sizes are more consistent with other HK style places in the area. read more

Ok this is a food court eatery, so I'm not expecting the world in terms of quality and service. We drop by one in a while for a quick bite after visits to the shops nearby. My kids like this place for the snacks, so I'm not going to say much about their food. However what I'm furious with is the staffs ripe my kids off with their order. I want my kids to be a bit more independent, so I give them money to buy their own food. My kids, doesn't speak the language, so they read the english menu, and order by the item number. Not just one occasion, but at least 3 times now I notice that they charge him with a higher priced combo order, but give him another lower priced item on the menu. Classic bait and switch. If it's just once, I'll chalk it up as miscommunication... But on multiple visits?!? Too bad on each occasion I noticed it after he finished most of his food, and they don't provide receipts so it's hard to argue. Really, how can you accidentally switch out combo items when you put in an order by its combo number? I've told my kids to stay away from this restaurant!!! Just like Calvin I am also surprised that there are so few reviews for this place. I use to come here on a regular basis when I worked close to the area. I would almost always get the meat sauce spaghetti and a cold milk tea which comes to about $8-9 after tax. You can also add chicken steak to it for about $2-3 more. I really like the sauce. Its really thick and full of flavor and has some cheese to top it off. I'm always super full after finishing this meal and when the chicken is added its just over. No need to go back to work if you finish the chicken as well. I'm just ready to pass out after a meal like that. The milk tea is just like you would get at any other Hong Kong Style eatery's. The menu features all your HK classics - baked rice and pastas, sandwiches, instant noodles, chicken wings, deep fried toast, and a personal favourite - bubble waffles! On my most recent visit we ordered the chicken with coconut sauce baked rice (椰香汁焗雞球飯), combo B8 satay beef bun and ham omelette (沙爹牛肉豬仔包加火腿, and K11 super thick HK style French toast (港式西多士) with peanut butter added. The baked rice came with soup and drink (not advertised) and the other two came with a drink. You can upgrade your drink from hot to cold, and from coffee or tea to other options - you'll find everything from classic HK cafe options like Horlicks and Ovaltine to bubble teas. The baked rice was a good portion - great bang for buck. The coconut sauce was flavourful and not too heavy, and the chicken fit well and was in decent quantity. The satay beef bun was smaller than expected - there was a thin single lettuce slice in the bun that didn't add much, and the bun had a beef dip kind of sensation. Fortunately, the bun was well toasted and not overly crunchy or chewy. The omelette is as the name suggests - simple sliced ham in a rolled up omelette. The portion was smaller but you get some variety, making for a decent lunch meal if you're looking for a lower-carb alternative. Finally the French toast - remember, HK style French toast is deep fried - so it's definitely not one of healthier options! A good portion size, accompanied by just the right amount of syrup, Magic Fusion makes a great HK style French toast! If you're looking for a quick snack and changing it up from the go-to bubble waffle, I recommend their French toast - a classic at an affordable price, with a drink to go with it! Just purchased a HK egg waffle from here. I remember purchasing one in the past that was crispy on the outside and soft and fluffy in the inside. This time I feel like they rushed my egg waffle because it's not that crispy on the outside and the inside was "just cooked". I have to say I don't recommend this place, not at all. The store is nice and well decorated, but does it matter since you are gonna seat in food court anyway? I ordered Thai style grill chicken with rice, and I was disappointed, strongly. I was expecting dry chicken since it says grill, maybe a bit of sauce on the side or on the chicken, but the whole dish was extremely overpowered with spicy sweet sauce that you cannot feel or taste anything else. A bowl, seems like soup at first glance, came with the dish and when I tried, it tasted like gravy. I don't understand the purpose of serving such a dish. Price is important, since this food court is packed with many stores, reasonable prices. Magic fusion cuisine is expensive, definitely not worth it. The only good thing that earned two stars from me was the HK milk tea, pretty standard, nothing special, but hey, I don't want to give one star, too harsh, but two stars is quite generous, should have been one and a half. read more

First time trying this place. The quality and quantity are both very good. I ordered Ox Tongue in Cream Sauce with Spaghetti and Baked Pork Chop in tomato sauce on rice (HK Style). I usually don't write review on restaurant but i have to do it this time as the place is real good and see that the chef really put their heart in their cooking. One improvement they can make is that the spaghetti is a little bit over cooked and it turns out to be too soft. I will buy from this place more often now. Although there are many options at the food court, I've been getting my lunch at this place for many years but recently they are making me uncomfortable by asking why I'm asking for take out. So I told her I wanted a lid because I cannot finish the entire meal. I'm not getting a soup that comes with the meal since I've asked for take out which is totally fine with me, I don't want the soup anyways. I really dislike her attitude.
