    Mexican fiesta
    Mary T.

Tips: - There's plenty of parking in this plaza. Most spots are on a slant. - Ainsdale Road is a two-way street that will get you in and out of this plaza. A recent Yelp experience introduced me to this Potato Bar location in Scarborough. I loved it so much that I have been back for more. I have also flagged dropping by its Mississauga location, which is relatively close to my workplace. It's convenient for me to visit this Potato Bar from home. I drive down Birchmount Avenue to Lawrence Avenue East, head west, and then hang a right onto Ainsdale Road, followed by a left into the plaza. This eatery is located in a plaza with slanted parking. I have never had an issue finding a spot and heading inside. My first visit, I had the Mexican fiesta. I am a baked potato person. This place smokes their potatoes. Awesome! You can also do fries or tater tots as your base. I love options. You basically walk all the way down to the back of the store and place your order. Staff make your order right in front of you. I can only speak for the potato items. This place also sells wings and I haven't had any yet. You then pay for your goods at the checkout. I watched the entire baked potato process happen. A staffer takes a huge smoked potato and splits it in half. Cheese, salt, and butter are added to each half, and the contents are smooshed and mixed to the point in which everything ends up being a mashed potato hybrid. You then got it loaded with whatever ingredients comprise your baked potato. I saw a dollop of sour cream on my baked potato. I am borderline lactose-intolerant and sour cream isn't my thing. I ended up scooping it out. Had I known, I would have asked that it be omitted. During my second visit, I had the big Philly. I liked it even better than the Mexican Fiesta, so much so that I inhaled the snack-sized version and forgot to take a photo of it. Oops! Both times, I chose to do takeout. Staff carefully packed my items, including barbeque sauce. Nothing leaked. My potato was safe both times. I didn't bother putting my potato in an insulated bag. It was still hot when I got home to dig in. I loved my Mexican fiesta loaded potato. It came with roasted pulled beef, guacamole, salsa, sour cream, green onions, and chipotle. Everything was fresh and delicious. The barbeque sauce was tangy and was the perfect sauce on top of this massive potato. The big Philly consisted of roasted pulled beef, melted cheese, ssauteed veggies, mushroom truffle, mixed herbs, and house and barbeque sauces. It's so comforting. It was like getting a Philly cheesesteak, but on a smoked potato, without the Whiz. The mushroom truffle makes this meal so special. I was stuffed after each meal. Both were delicious. I'm glad Potato Bar exists. Potatoes get a bad rap for being carby and starchy. They are filling. They are yummy. Go get a potato item here! This place has potato character stickers. They are free. The characters are cute. I'm glad that this place exists. It's open late, so you can always get your potato groove on. This place is on Skip the Dishes and Uber Eats. The latter currently has a few BOGO deals that are worth checking out. (204)

What a little gem! I came here just before the dinner rush on a weekday night. They were super friendly explaining their menu and giving suggestions. You can choose their signature bowls, tater tots, poutine, wings, or DIY your own. I got the Mexican Fiesta, Big Philly, and Chilli Potato but my favorite is the Big Philly. I got the Cheetos Fiesta corn too and while it was yummy, it was a bit too spicy for me. The lemon that came with it helped levitate the spice. I love watching them whip up the potato and then they filled it up with a very generous amount of toppings. They really took baked potatoes to a whole new level! The bowls also come in a snack and regular size. The regular would be good for sharing. The shop is small but they have lots of cute decors and pictures that are potato themed. They also have cute stickers by the cash register that are free. My only suggestion is to change the flow of the ordering process because the ordering area is a bit tight so I feel like they should pay first and then move down the line to watch them make your bowl. Currently when you walk in, you walk to the back to order and then they make it and then you pay. Would come back to try out their poutines if I'm in the area!

The I Heart Butter Tart Concrete ($6.49) that I ordered was a little too much for myself. I did decide to go through and finish the ice cream / sundae just so I don't have anything to go. The interior of the place was properly though out and well designed. Self order stations are available to order from and the ordering interface is one of the better systems I have seen. When I dined in early afternoon on a weekday it was a rather slow day. There were a couple of Shake Shack employees constantly roaming about the premises ready to attend to any customer request. 1 such employee was thoughtful enough to serve me and a group of other customers some water. I have mixed feelings about the bathroom setup. Yes, it is clean and there were a few toilet rooms available, but it requires a code to be entered prior to using. The door screen shows as vacant but an employee still needs to give out the 4 digit code needed to access the toilets. I also found some issues with the water faucet sensors. It is inconsistently picking up my gestures resulting in an unreliable and unsteady flow of running water when I was washing my hands.

We chose beef and extra shrimp. P7 Coconut Sorbet - Coconut milk ice cream, not bad, a little too sweet, and had a little bit of coconut meat. Mango Sticky Rice - The mango sticky rice was average, nothing particularly delicious. P8 Thai Iced Tea - A little sweet and a little too sweet. This is their second location, in a build with 3 other food vendors. It is mostly a takeout restaurant. There is a small counter where you could stand and eat. There are six set combinations. Or you can build your own pasta (BYOP) combo. On the soft-opening day (2025-01-20), they were offering an opening special of Mac N Cheese with BBQ Chicken sample and a drink for only $6.99. I ordered the following: 1. BYOP: Garlic Shrimp, penne, rose sauce, broccoli, black olives, mushrooms. It automatically comes with sliced green peppers and chopped parsley. 2. Opening Special ($6.99) x 2. For the BYOP, they didn't warn me it was medium spicy. I can handle it with a cold drink! The shrimp and penne were perfectly cooked. I loved the rose sauce. My choices of broccoli,  black olives, and mushrooms worked well together and with the base. The Opening Special was delicious; the Mac n Cheese part and BBQ Chicken were really good! Unfortunately, the BBQ was mildly spicy, and my son didn't like it; more for me! The customer service was good. It took them a long time to prepare the food (there were many orders prior to mine). But it was opening day, so hopefully, they will speed up their cooking. There is no free WiFi. The food stall is wheelchair accessible, but there is no door-open button. There are no customer washrooms. There is paid neighbourhood street parking. Review 2025-014

The seafood and tonkotsu broth was rich, savory, and full of flavor. It was a little too salty to drink on its own, but perfect for dipping the noodles. The only thing to note is that the cold noodles stayed quite firm even after sitting in the broth for a while, so if you prefer a softer texture, I would recommend asking for hot noodles instead. The soft-boiled egg was also really good, slightly sweet, chilled, and very flavorful. We also tried the Spicy Red Miso ramen, which was not actually very spicy and leaned a little sweet. The broth was pleasant, though my teammate felt there were so many onions and green onions that they covered some of the miso flavor. The chashu, however, was excellent, with a really nice balance of lean meat and fat without feeling greasy. The takoyaki was classic and well done, crisp on the outside, soft in the middle, with generous pieces of octopus inside. The karaage was also very solid, crispy outside and juicy inside, with a seasoning that had a clear ginger and cooking wine aroma. Overall, a very enjoyable meal, especially if you like rich broths and comforting Japanese side dishes.

Inside, it's large, high ceilings, colourful area, the bathroom is located upstairs & one downstairs (accessibility) the upstairs one is all dark with lights We tried the jungle brunch fixed menu and the vegetarian several course menu. They do advise food will come as it's made so don't except to eat all at once. For the fixed menu, it came with miso soup, we got the shishito peppers, tako yaki (this was really good, wasn't expecting the inside filling to be so flavourful), chicken and waffles, steak and eggs. Everything was tasty! The dessert however was the highlight, taro ice cream was really good, the yuzu sorbet was very refreshing. Onto the vegetarian menu, the lychee ceviche was something we have never tasted before, this was sparingly really delicious. The Nasu miso (eggplant with apricot) was also a pairing we didn't expect to be as tasty as it was. Experience: During the duration of the brunch, hands on exotic was present with birds. He did an incredible job walking around introducing the birds, allowing everyone to take photos. There were also dancers coming along as well as girls dressed in animal costumes. The service was alright, some food was forgotten and brought when we are asking for dessert. Several staff were walking by cleaning up the tables. The manager also came by to tell us about their other dinning options for another time. Overall, this was definitely a different take to brunch which we did enjoy.
