I signed up for Tahini's rewards program a while back. I was pleasantly surprised to get a message in my inbox saying that I got fries to celebrate my birthday. I could come during the month of July to redeem them. A couple of Saturdays ago, I was in Pickering and wondered if it had a Tahini's. It sure did! I decided to redeem my birthday perk here and order dinner. There was plenty of parking in front of this eatery. I backed into a spot and walked in. There was a family in the corner chowing down. There was a person ahead of me, which was perfect. I could look at the menu to figure out what I wanted. I spotted shawarma ramen. You can get either chicken or halloumi. Cool! A nice man came over after he was done preparing food. I let him know that I had fries as part of my birthday perk to redeem. He nodded. It was my first time redeeming, so I needed his help to guide me through it. I got an e-mail. He said that my perk would have been loaded to my account and he simply needed to scan my rewards barcode. I pulled out my Tahini's app. He scanned my barcode. Done! I also ordered chicken shawarma ramen. I got it mild and for takeout. You can only order it at Tahini's and not ahead of time. I got my barcode scanned again to earn points. I then paid with a credit card. The transaction was smooth. I used the washroom. The single stall that I used was clean and nicely maintained. I sat down while I waited for my order. I can see myself dining in here. It had a relaxed feel. It didn't take too long for my order to be ready. I picked up my paper bag with my food and thanked the man. I then headed to my car, put my food in an insulated bag, and drove home. My food was still hot when I unpacked everything. It's nice that Pickering is next door to Markham, so the drive back decent. I got fries in a bag. It was my first time ever having fries from Tahini's. I liked that there was a light coating of batter. The fries were amazing. I didn't need to put ketchup or find dipping sauce. I loved them. This Tahini's gets full marks for customer service and fries. It's a bit of a gamble trying a fusion of shawarma and ramen. I will give top marks for creativity. I learned from this experience that it needs to be eaten immediately or I need to specify that the broth be in a separate container. The store did not separate the ramen from the broth. When I opened the container, there wasn't any broth. My guess is that the ramen got thirsty and drank the broth all up as I drove home. I essentially had cheesy ramen with no broth. Not horrible. Just weird for someone who was looking forward to a bowl of ramen with broth. The flavours were good. The chicken shawarma had a lot of flavour. The chicken morsels were tender. The ramen was cooked perfectly. I loved the green onions. It had moisture thanks to the ramen absorbing all the broth. I just wanted to have the broth in its natural soupy format. I don't normally have ramen with cheese. I know that it's a thing. I remember a former intern saying that I should have it with some cheese. I'm not a person who craves cheese on everything. It worked with this ramen, but I'd be fine without it. I got my ramen mild. It was indeed mild spice-wise. I may be daring next time and go with the spicy version. I feel the need to return and have the ramen again. I'd eat it at the restaurant or ask that I get the broth in a small container. I had a decent experience. I'll be back! (314)

They made big mistake with my order but they were great at owning up to it and showed exemplary service in doing so. They got the grape vine wraps which goes great with fries. I will go back just for this. Keep in mind shawarma on weekdays may not be freshly grilled but kept in containers they scoop out of, or regrilled. But the beef shawarma good either way. Sauces for sharwarma in addition to regular sauces they have there is also a yogurt like sauce addition that give great taste. But all the side toppings does lean toward the saltier side. I'd recommend asking to replace all with rice. Lettuce on weekday seems a bit old, brown and yellow spots... try to go on weekends Eggplant dip bought separately tasted sadly underwelming but might be a thing for some people. I had much tastier eggplant dips especially the canned ones. Theirs seems home made. Their food is decent 3/5 and service 4/5. You will feel people working there cares, unlike Made in Mexico on main st new location in my recent trip. For competing sharwarma there is always Sharwarma Land on Yonge st to try around ten min drive south. The lack of fresh veggies and meat on weekdays sadly lowers rating.

I know Almaza is known for their rotisserie chicken, but I chose to try their other dishes on this trip. Some may feel the prices are on the higher side, but honestly the prices are quite fair. Reason being is, there was enough food to feed two people. You can dine in or just order takeout, either choice you're going to have some good food. Kibbie- I liked these handheld Lebanese beef croquettes. The seasoning was good and it does come with some sauces, but I didn't need them. I was fine with how well the croquettes tasted alone Pastelillos- I loved these meat pies..I could eat these all day Mediterranean lamb plate- The bed of rice that comes with the dish, is totally different tasting that I have ever had. Manly because of the shaved almonds, and cinnamon. But by no means, do I have any complaints. The lamb pieces with this entree was a good compliment.

The dips were all delicious and rich, and the pita was fresh and warm. The garlic aioli was also strong and creamy. The atmosphere was very family friendly with an almost cafeteria-like feel. I remember trying it (takeout) years ago but this is the first time I came in for dine-in. I love the cozy interiors and aesthetics. Decor is nice especially the booth seatings. Menu has a wide variety of options to choose from, but we opted for the family platter since it seemed like the best option for sharing. Portion was quite generous and a decent amount to share. We got the BBQ chicken ($74.99) which came with either rice or fries (or you could do half/half), salad of your choice (we opted for fattoush), 2 dips of your choice (we chose baba ghanoush & muhammara), 4 fresh pitas & a whole chicken. Restaurant has a lot of parking and seating. Staff were nice but it was a bit of a slow service (had to constantly ask for things, such as cutlery, plates, etc). The washroom had the A/C on blast and it was freezing cold but at least it was clean. Now for the food - everything we had was pretty good. I usually don't like garlic sauce but the one that came with the food was pretty creamy and delicious. As for the baba ghanoush, it didn't taste like it but it still had a nice flavour. The Muhammara was amazing, not overly spicy. As for the fattoush, I found it just OK. I've had better ones elsewhere and I find that it lacked the crispy pita bites, as there was only a few. However, it's worth noting that the chicken took around 30-40 minutes to be ready, which I didn't mind because it came well seasoned and well done. It was not too dry, but not juicy either but seasoned well. The rice was also ok and I like that the food wasn't too greasy, but the plate came with way too many onions... I'd recommend this spot and would come back if I'm ever in the area. Would love to try other dishes on the menu.

Updated review May 18 Victoria day…read more I decided to grab some shawarmas after our walk at Frenchman's Bay. When I entered the restaurant there some people dining in and others waiting for their orders. The chicken duo deal $16.99 is an online only deal. The cashier was trying to ring in my order but didn't realize it's an online offer. The food prep staff told me to order online. The online order process is pretty easy to use and you can customize your wrap and bowl. The Queen wrap comes with pickles, garlic sauce and pomegranate molasses. You have the option to choose your own toppings up to 3 choices. The Queen regular bowl has similar toppings and it's served on top of rice. The food was pretty good but I would say the chicken portions left more to be desired. The only downside here is that restaurant was understaffed and I waited about 30 minutes for my order. If the wait wasnt too long I would give them 4 stars.

I've made a mental note to drop by Shawarma Royale. I've been to its Scarborough location years ago. I needed a refresher. I drove around the building and parked fairly close to the entrance. I then walked in. This eatery is spacious. There are lots of places to sit down and enjoy your meal. The tables are generously spaced out. I headed over to the order area. There was a couple in front of me. I looked at the menu to see what I wanted. I saw chicken shawarma salad. Perfect! The woman taking my order was so sweet and nice. She asked me if I wanted any sauces. I went with tahini and garlic sauce. I paid with a credit card. I tapped and was done. I got my receipt and joined others waiting for their food. I saw a man slice the chicken shawarma that would comprise my salad. I saw another man putting my salad together. Watching my food being prepared was wonderful. It also made me hungry. My order was ready. The woman asked me whether I was dining in or doing takeout. It was the latter. She put my container of happiness in a clear plastic bag, with a fork and napkins. I thanked her. What's special about this place is that all three staffers said thanks and hoped that I'd enjoy my food. i liked that nice touch. I put my food in an insulated bag and drove home. I then had dinner. The chicken shawarma on my salad was still warm. I loved my meal. The veggies were crisp. This place was generous with the pickles and pickled radishes. I loved how yummy the chicken shawarma was. Each slice was tender. The tahini and garlic sauce brought every ingredient together. I'd get this salad again. I should try a bowl, too. I had a great experience. I'd return for more when I'm in the area. (465)
