I don't frequent Pickering as much as I used to. It was new to me. I flagged checking it out in my head. Last Saturday, I dropped by for a late lunch after completing my errands. My first visit at a Perkins restaurant was in Winnipeg. I loved going there after a midnight shift to get pancakes and more. Sadly, Winnipeg doesn't have any Perkins eateries left. When I lived in the States, there was one Perkins in Rochester, MN. It's still there. I'm so glad. As a resident, I went there for a team lunch and when I was peckish for some breakfast. This eatery is in a plaza. It's next to Shawarma Royale and across from Dairy Queen, which are also new to me. I parked steps away from the entrance. It's wasn't all that busy at 2:30 pm on a Saturday. I walked in. I saw the sign to wait to be seated. I did while taking photos. It didn't take long for a nice woman to come over. She brought me to a booth. I thanked her. This woman wasn't my server, but did get me a Diet Coke. It was a bit off in flavour. I'm not sure if it was the ratio of syrup to carbonated water, or maybe the water. My refill was much better and the carbonation was great. Patricia would end up being my server. She came over and asked if I was ready to order. I was! I got these items: - French toast with scrambled eggs and sausage links - Diet Coke She came over to bring a warm bottle of maple syrup. It was a nice touch. My food didn't take long to arrive. It looked yummy. I thanked her and went to town. The French toast slices were excellent. They had a bit of powdered sugar on top. Not a lot. Just the right amount. I slathered on some butter on each slice and then poured the warm maple syrup on top. Delicious! They were crispy and chewy where they should be. The sausage links were nicely browned and had some nice crispness. Yummy! I liked my scrambled eggs. Perfect! No complaints here. The only downside was that my server didn't really check on me, except for the Diet Coke refill when I was practically done with my meal. She checked on everyone else, which was a bit odd. When I got my drink refill, she gave me my bill. What if I wanted a slice of chocolate french silk pie? You didn't ask. You simply presumed that I was done. I signed up for Perkins rewards. I have some perks that are waiting or me to use. Although Perkins is American, I've noticed that this eatery wants to tell you that it's Canadian-owned. The ketchup in French's, which is Canadian. There's also a huge Canadian flag when you enter this restaurant. I paid at the table. My server gave me the payment machine. I paid with a credit card by tipping and tapping. Done! I used the washroom before I headed home. The washrooms are by the entrance. The women's washroom was clean. The stall that I used was also clean and decent. It's a good Perkins. This Bingz opened in late 2025. When I was last by Bingz, it was exceptionally busy. There weren't any places to sit down. The lineup to order food was long. I said that I'd return when the hype died down. I came here after work on a Wednesday afternoon. I parked between entrances 2 and 3, and walked over to the former. Bingz is steps away from it. Bingz is next door to Tim Hortons when you are in the mall. Bingz takes over from where Crepe Delicious used to be. The crepe place is still at CF Markville, but I have no idea where. There was a woman standing in front of the stall. I couldn't tell if she was about to order or was waiting for her food. I went with the latter and approached the order area to take a better look at the menu. I hadn't been to a Bingz for a while. I got the most helpful woman behind the counter. A larger bowl of wonton soup was going for $8.99. You can get either shrimp or pork. As much as I love soup, I needed a more substantial meal. I asked the woman what she would recommend. She said the beef burger combo, which comes with a side of wonton soup and a drink. Ah, yes. I used to order it. I said yes to the reminder that it was my go-to meal. My order consisted of these items: - Beef burger - Shrimp wonton soup - Peachy lychee fizz I paid with a credit card. I tapped. Done! I got a receipt with my order number. There's a screen mounted over everyone's heads that displays orders being made. I stood next to the woman, waiting for our orders. I noticed a couple of order kiosks to my right, on the wall. I still like ordering with the help of a human. The nice woman announced my order number. I approached the counter and got my combo on a tray. I thanked her and went around the corner to find a spot to chow down. At roughly 4 pm, there were plenty of tables and cubed seats to dine in. I liked the sink area to wash your hands after you're done eating, throw away your garbage, and put your tray away. So cool! I loved my combo. It was great getting reacquainted with the beef burger. The bun was flaky and crispy. The beef was tender and so juicy. Yummy! The shrimp wonton soup was excellent. The plastic spoon was too small to scoop up each wonton properly. I had a few splash moments with the wontons. They were yummy, packed with flavourful shrimp filling. I loved the soup, which had a hint of salt and was perfect with the green onions and delicate egg noodles. The peachy lychee fizzy drink was so good. I found out through one of my social media feeds that Harvey's had a burger deal. You had a choice between getting the original or veggie burger through the Harvey's app for $1.65. I love a good deal. I used the app for the first time to order my original burger and customize it. I like that Harvey's has garlic mayo and a ton of veggies. I wanted to use my Scene points. I needed to order a minimum of $5 to be able to use them. I got a regular orange cream shake, which got me to this minimum. It was nice using my points and paying just over $1 for my order. I drove southbound on Markham Road and turned right to get to Harvey's. I was greeted by a seagull and two Canadian geese. All were looking for food. I was, too! At the order area, I spoke with a helpful woman. I indicated that I had a order. She found my name on the order and said that I could pull up to the window. The woman was great. She handed my shake and small paper bag with my burger. I thanked her and drove home. I had the shake on my way home. I do appreciate that the top was sealed with a couple of sticky labels. However, taking it off was a challenge. You do need to make sure that you're not sucking down remnants of these labels. I loved the shake. It was like a mild orange version of a creamsicle. We came on 2026-06-17 because they have a special of two "The Rudy" ($8.99) for $10, because they were celebrating their 10th anniversary. It was quite busy. We ordered the following: 1. Thin Cut Fries ($4.99). 2. The Rudy (4 for $20). We lived then so much, we ordered another: 3. The Rudy (2 for $10). Even though they were busy, it only took 15 mins to get our first order. Our first order was #188 at 19:00. At 19:25, our second order was #209, so they had 21 orders in 26 mins! This order took 18 mins. This Quesada is where Quiznos used to be. It's next to the former Lick's Hamburgers. It changed names and offered the same menu, but it looked like it was closed for good when I saw it. Sad. I got the following items: - Mexican street corn (limited time) - Burrito bowl with grilled chicken and guacamole I like that I was able to customize my burrito bowl. I got these ingredients: - Grilled chicken - Black beans - Refried beans - Chipotle tomato salsa - Monterey jack cheese - Smoked paprika mayo and vegan sauces - Shredded lettuce (base) - Guacamole (extra charge) - Diced tomatoes - Corn - Red onion - Mexican street slaw The app said that my order would be ready in fifteen minutes. It was more than enough time to find an item at Best Buy and pay for it before I fetched my food. There is plenty of parking in this corner. Quesada is steps away from Best Buy, so it was convenient to walk over after shopping there. I stood where the pickup area was. A woman said hi. I indicated that I was picking up an order and showed the order number from my app. The woman nodded and said that she was nearly done putting it together. I thanked the man who handed it to me and left the store to drive home. I got home and chowed down. I started with the Mexican street corn. It comes in small and large sizes. I got the small, which ended up being in two little containers. I love corn. This Mexican street corn is a westernized rendition. I liked it. The corn was perfect. There was cheese and cilantro, lime, a bit of chile, and dressing. The dressing was supposed to be creamy, but I didn't see anything creamy about it. I went with the smoked paprika mayo. It was to my liking. I've had over-cheesy, creamy Mexican street corn and I didn't enjoy it. I'd get the large next time. My burrito bowl was made as instructed. You get the option of a rice or lettuce base. I got the latter, which is my usual. The grilled chicken was yummy and perfectly grilled. All ingredients were fresh. The two sauces united everything, creating one happy bowl of goodness. It was delicious. I'm so glad that I finally got some food here. There wasn't a BOGO deal when I placed my order. There was a person ahead of me, which was perfect. I could look at the menu to figure out what I wanted. I spotted shawarma ramen. You can get either chicken or halloumi. Cool! A nice man came over after he was done preparing food. I let him know that I had fries as part of my birthday perk to redeem. He nodded. It was my first time redeeming, so I needed his help to guide me through it. I got an e-mail. He said that my perk would have been loaded to my account and he simply needed to scan my rewards barcode. I pulled out my Tahini's app. He scanned my barcode. Done! I also ordered chicken shawarma ramen. I got it mild and for takeout. You can only order it at Tahini's and not ahead of time. I got my barcode scanned again to earn points. I then paid with a credit card. The transaction was smooth. I used the washroom. The single stall that I used was clean and nicely maintained. I sat down while I waited for my order. I can see myself dining in here. It had a relaxed feel. It didn't take too long for my order to be ready. I picked up my paper bag with my food and thanked the man. I then headed to my car, put my food in an insulated bag, and drove home. My food was still hot when I unpacked everything. It's nice that Pickering is next door to Markham, so the drive back decent. I got fries in a bag. It was my first time ever having fries from Tahini's. I liked that there was a light coating of batter. The fries were amazing. I didn't need to put ketchup or find dipping sauce. I loved them. This Tahini's gets full marks for customer service and fries. It's a bit of a gamble trying a fusion of shawarma and ramen. I will give top marks for creativity. I learned from this experience that it needs to be eaten immediately or I need to specify that the broth be in a separate container. The store did not separate the ramen from the broth. When I opened the container, there wasn't any broth. My guess is that the ramen got thirsty and drank the broth all up as I drove home. I essentially had cheesy ramen with no broth. Not horrible. Just weird for someone who was looking forward to a bowl of ramen with broth. The flavours were good. The chicken shawarma had a lot of flavour. The chicken morsels were tender. The ramen was cooked perfectly. I loved the green onions. It had moisture thanks to the ramen absorbing all the broth. I just wanted to have the broth in its natural soupy format. I don't normally have ramen with cheese. I know that it's a thing. I remember a former intern saying that I should have it with some cheese. I'm not a person who craves cheese on everything. It worked with this ramen, but I'd be fine without it. I got my ramen mild. It was indeed mild spice-wise. I may be daring next time and go with the spicy version. I feel the need to return and have the ramen again.
