This was the first time we tried Pint Size Productions, ordering a Custom Board Book for a toddler. There were both positives and negatives with this experience, a concise review is below: Positives: * The interface is fairly easy to use. You can bleed images across pages, manipulate font size, color, etc., depending on which style ordered. * They processed the order quickly. * It shipped and arrived on-time. * I asked a support question by email and got a prompt response. Negatives * The book won't lie flat, like the children's cardboard books you buy in a bookstore. * You can't weight them (put a weight on them) to make them lie flat. * The photo image quality is fair, not great. And the photos don't have a glossy image like the rest of the page. * Value: At $25, we were looking for a higher quality product. Words and phrases I'd use to describe the product include: Not bad, fair, adequate, good enough to not warrant a return. Would I order this again? I created a custom board book for our first grandson 4 years ago and was very pleased with how it turned out. I recently created another one for his little brother's 1st birthday. When I received the board book, some of my illustrations were cut off, even though they were within the margins when I created the book. I reached out to Pint Size and the very next business day, they responded with an apology and a promise to re-print the book and send via FedEx overnight shipping. I received the new book in 2 days! Very happy with the new printing and with the exceptional customer service I received. Grandson #3 will be one year old next December and you can bet I will once again use Pint Size Productions for his book, too. read more

I'm really surprised at how well my custom board book turned out--it looks really professional (much better printing quality than I've gotten from printing other types of photo books at Shutterfly, etc.) This is also the only company I could find that lets you make your board book totally custom--you don't have to use their templates. Since I wanted to make a storybook board book using my sister's illustrations and my father's story, I didn't want to use a template where you just plug in photos. (But if you want that, they have that option as well.) It was really easy--I just uploaded all the illustrations and put them on each page. It turned out like a book I would buy in a store--on the white pages, the ink is raised, so it has an embossed look I really like as well. They also had really great customer service. I was worried about this getting here in time for my daughter's first birthday, so I emailed them. They responded immediately that they would rush the order (even though I only paid for regular shipping) and I got it in a little over a week. This was two weeks earlier than I was anticipating. I'll definitely use them again whenever I need to make another board book. My only qualm is that the shipping costs are so high. The board book itself is very reasonable ($36) especially for the quality, but paying over $20 in shipping seems like a lot. I know they can't really control that, and I know they're a small company and not Amazon. Personally, I would rather pay $50 for the board book and $6 for the shipping--even though it's the same total cost, then the money is going towards the company to make these high quality books and not the shipping. This book is so meaningful to me and my 1-year-old daughter because my father told her this story and he died only a few months after she was born. When I read her this book every day, I feel like he can still be part of her life. (She has also destroyed a couple other store-bought board books, but this one still is holding strong!) read more

I had a mix of good and bad experiences with them, but overall I've been happy. I found their website relatively easy to use which was good, but then my saved project disappeared without any explanation (it had not been 90 days) which was extremely frustrating. I contacted customer service and they were prompt in replying and very sympathetic but they needed my password in order to investigate and I couldn't remember what it was as my computer just automatically remembered it. Luckily I remembered that I had made screenshots of my rough draft so I simply rebuilt it. Then when I finally ordered the book something strange happened and I received the old unfinished draft that had disappeared! Complete with stock photos :S I once again contacted customer service, and once again I was very happy with their response: they were very sympathetic and prompt and fixed the problem right away, even agreeing to send me an extra copy of the book for free. So overall I would say that it was a good experience. The company is a little disorganized and the site is a bit buggy but their heart is in the right place and they fix their errors promptly. I am so disappointed with the custom board book I ordered for the baby I nanny. 1-I found the do-it-yourself layout hard to understand and the book has a lot of mis-aligned photos ( my fault, but it could have been made simpler or labeled better to understand where the bleed and where the edges of the pages were. ) 2-The quality is low - spending $35 on a book i expect the ink to stay on the page - but after day 1 the images are just coming off - you can scratch the photo off the page of the book. 3- the price its $35 plus $15 shipping, i read 'we don't set the shipping price' but come on you can have different shipping options- i would have waited 2 weeks to pay less - i spent $50 on a book that is falling apart - really really disappointed read more

I used pint sized products for the first time to make a custom board book for my granddaughter's first birthday. I the found process frustrating at first but emailed and called customer service for help. They got back to me quickly, provided guidance and support and I was able to finish the book without any other problems. The interface was not user- friendly / intuitive for me but the customer service was excellent. They also provided a generous discount. I don't have the book yet but I loved the final proof and I can't wait to read it with my granddaughter! Give it a try and if you have any trouble give them a call ! read more

I made a board book for my grandson using old family photos and newer iPhone pictures. It turned out amazing, much better than I expected due to the age of some of the photos! The website wasn't the easiest to use, but the end result made it all worth it. read more

We ordered our book 3 and a half weeks ago, they sent us someone else's personalized book. When we told them of the error I was informed they would print our book and overnight it. That was two weeks ago and we still do not have our book. If you're ordering a custom book for a special occasion /date I would go elsewhere. Not reliable or responsive. read more

These books are BEAUTIFUL!!!!! I am so absolutely thrilled with how they turned out!!! I am so happy I found y'alls wonderful company that allows me to make beautiful, sturdy books that my baby can learn from and then (hopefully, haha) cherish forever. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. I purchased my first book a year ago for my daughter's first birthday and it is still in really good shape, especially for how much wear and tear it's been through (#toddlerlife). I just purchased my second two books for her 2nd birthday and they are absolutely beautiful!!! I can't get over how great all 3 of these books are!!! Also, a huge thank you to everyone there who answered my panicked emails when my technology-challenged self couldn't figure something out. And an even bigger thank you for tweaking my picture placement to make sure the book would look amazing!!! Try this company at your own risk! I spent hours creating a board book yesterday and constantly saved it. I went into my account this morning, only to find it had disappeared. I called customer service before 8 this morning, they close in 30 minutes, and all I'm told is that the tech people "are working on it." At this point, I assume if I try again the same thing will happen. This is very disappointing. I'm going to go with another company that does board books. Total waste of time! I went through days of trying to create a book on this non user friendly site.... I have created at least 8 books from other sites, so I am not new at this. This site however is the worst I ever used! To make it ever more dreadful, they have ZERO customer support, never answer calls, no chats. Take long to respond to emails if at all. Terrible way to do business. Unfortunately the time I wasted cost me the ability to make something elsewhere in time for Christmas. I really wanted to make a photo board book for my grandson so I persisted and emailed questions. I'm glad I did, I love the finished product and will be making one for each of my gandbabies for their first birthdays! There are surprisingly few places that even do this kind of work. I found Pint Size Productions and trusted them with the printing of these 11 keepsake items. Their customer service and production staffs went the extra mile (and then some!) to make sure the finished products came out looking just like my original files. I'm particular about the quality of products I give to my clients. I'm even fussier about the items I create for the people I love. I'm very grateful to PSP for caring enough to do the job right. UPDATE: I finally received personal communication from customer service and received my books on Tuesday. Although the provided design tools are extremely limited and Customer Service can be less than helpful at times, I am very pleased with the end result, so I am changing my review from 2 to 4 stars. The colors were bright and the pictures/text clear. The edges were trimmed well. It's a unique product that to my knowledge is only available with this company and if you either want a very simple book or to plug in your pictures/names to a couple of customizable templates they offer, then it is an easy way to make a unique gift. Just keep track of your orders. ;) I love the idea of this company! Although there are lots of places to get custom photo books, I don't know anywhere else you can order the sturdier custom board books. I agree with another review that the process for creating the books is very limited and not super user-friendly if you want anything other than a simple picture on one page and some words on another page (which may be all that many people want). However, I decided to try some other software to design my own and worked really hard at it. Ordered 3 books on December 20 and charged for all 3 books that day - 1 of their templates and the 2 I designed myself. I was shocked at how quickly I received the "your order is complete" email and actually received the order on the 24th! The problem is that it only had 1 book... It wasn't quite as sturdy as most mass-produced board books, but I was pleased with it and figured the trade-off for the high price was the personalized aspect. On the 30th I still hadn't heard anything about my other books so wrote to customer service to enquire. I received a response on Jan 2 asking which books were missing (which felt like they couldn't be bothered to look it up themselves, or else don't keep track of what they actually produce and send out!) and when I explained the problem yet again, got a response saying the were sorry and would produce and send my books ASAP. I know the holiday period is a busy time of year. I have no complaint about the time it takes to receive the order, or the quality of the one book I did receive. I have a huge problem with the fact that they ignored most of my order and I had to track it down myself. I am also very worried about how my other books will turn out as I have never used this kind of design software before. I have no confidence that customer service will contact me if there is a problem or something is not quite right... (I will update my review when I actually receive the books.) If you are willing to work with a company that closes out an order as complete without noticing that 2/3 of it was never produced, then Pint Size productions is a good option for a unique product. However, I don't think I will be using their services again. read more

Terrible experience. Their online book creation feature is cumbersome and difficult to use. I had to readjust and resave multiple times. After a lot of work, I finally got all of the spreads loaded and purchased my board book. One full week later they said they couldn't print the book because the picture quality was low. That was total BS because I was using a high-resolution 1280X1024 size image. I ended up having to send them each image individually through email. I never got a response that they received them even when I followed up multiple times. Then another week later they emailed and said the colors were off but they thought they could fix it. I told them I didn't want them to print the book if it wasn't going to turn out properly. They told me it would be fine and they would be shipping out the next day. I waited for 5 days and never got a confirmation or tracking number. I followed up again to ask how the book turned out and they just responded with a tracking number saying sorry for the delay and that the book had been shipped that day. I received the books and they are terrible quality! Everything is pixelated and the pages weren't cut cleanly so there are pieces of cardboard hanging off them. I am so disappointed! This was supposed to be a Christmas present but now it's too late to fix it! read more

I am not a professional designer. I wanted to make a board book for a child and needed some guidance. When I emailed questions there was a long lag time until the responses came and then they were one liners that did not fully explain. One of the answers turned out to be completely wrong as I found out when it was time to upload. The customer service phone number IS NEVER ANSWERED. I left messages asking for a call back. No answer but another one line email saying they were sorry they missed my call. Do not expect any help with this product. read more
