I felt uncomfortable shipping it away to NY, so I made an appointment at IRepair and was told by J ( forgive me if I am spelling this wrong!I never asked how it was spelled) that it would be difficult but it was doable and would cost me about 560 dollars. In deed it took a few weeks- J explained every step of the way and indeed when it was finally done it cost what they had told me, not a penny more. Despite quite a bit of difficulty in getting my disk to respond to their software. Highly recommend. Seems they love a challenge at IRepair - and recoveries are often just that.

He said it would be $1000 to recover pictures, and $600 if I had the pictures recovered and I traded in my computer to him. I was so upset, I decided to wait and get a second opinion. I was sure he was being honest so I waited months to have the extra $600 to spend on my computer when I finally brought it into someone else. I ended up going to Experimac, THEY CHARGED ME $54. $54 to do what this guy said would be $600 if I traded in my computer, so please don't bother with this guy, go somewhere else he's a scam artist. I waited over 6 months before getting a second opinion, not even considering he might be lying to me. When they told me $54 at the other place I cried.
