When we decided to cancel membership, they used scare tactics and fake facts to scare us into staying. Cheryl was very rude and honestly didn't know what she was talking about. She said a lot of things that just weren't true to scare us into staying. She also said we ranked #1 in a lot of keywords but didn't rank #1 on anything... They didn't use relevant keywords to help our business. A lot of the changes they wanted to make were full of incorrect information. We also asked them to focus on getting more traffic to one product category for us, and the webpage was never even made... just stayed in construction. If you can take a day or two to learn SEO for yourself, do it. Or hire an in house SEO person. It will be more beneficial for your company. These agencies can't put the time and effort in your website to learn the correct information or make the changes that need to be done. And usually focus too much on local SEO. read more

This company promises the world and delivers nothing. Last year we didn't want to renew due to tons of issues with no communication. Cheryl assured us she was the best and would make sure this year was different. After we renewed I never heard a word from her and Jim, our account manager, was of 0 assistance the one time I called him in June. Tried to contact Cheryl June 2025 too with no response. March 2026 they finally sent me one report. We were supposed to have calls quarterly. Of course that never happened. Suddenly when you're up for renewal though, the sales team will harass you. Cheryl was creating fake phone numbers and blocking her number to call me. What in the world? I almost reporter her to the police because as soon as I'd block her number she would call from another. Finding area codes that matched mine to try to trick me. I told them multiple times I would reach out when ready to renew and she continued to harass me. Even when I told her we were not interested, she STILL continued emailing. The SEO work may be decent, I don't even know because i never got reports and with all the uncalled for stuff they do to try to sell you stuff, I don't even know that I trust their reports. read more

They cold called me. I took the call and listened and became interested because I've been considering hiring an SEO company. Got passed to the salesman. He started out at $3300, before you know it he was down to $1800. I told him I needed to do some research on his company and also think about it. I was also candid that I was uncomfortable how quickly the price changed and that it reflected a predatory sales structure or desperation at least from the point of view of me - a person who had only heard about them 10 minutes earlier. The next day salesman called back. When I expressed further skepticism he made me feel dumb for asking them exactly what they were going to do. After speaking to him for 5 minutes, he lowered the price to $838. I chuckled at the "38" part. I asked him to send the contract over for me to read, and that I would probably sign it. He questioned "probably" and wanted to talk about it more. I politely asked him to just email the contract and I would go over it as soon as possible. We hung up the phone. 5 minutes later I got an email from him saying that he "didn't want to go forward with me". At the end of the day, the sales tactics at least suggest that the business is not entirely aboveboard. I know the SEO biz is subjective and also hard to prove to people how you can help until you've helped. Everything about my interaction with the sales person, Stephen Schenevert, suggests that you should stay away from this company. My review is 100% accurate with no exaggeration and slant and only meant to help others. Absolutely the worst service I've experienced all around - content writing, web design, SEO, etc. We paid $8700 for all of these services, seven months later we got what I and anyone in my industry would call "a joke." For that amount of money, you would probably expect the content writer to research the topics, have a general understanding of the services, and do their homework. In our case we got a homepage that had historical and scientific errors made that you would expect of a 3rd grader. in fact, our entire website was full of writing errors and errors of fact. Within one year my visibility has gone from a dead stop to being listed on not only the first page but very high on the rankings.. first in some cases. Signed up in early December last year, gave them all the access, and got a few pages of content and 20 product descriptions. That's it! For around $3000, they did not even bother to give me a report in more than 4 months. After I complained, they sent me an analytics report + a ranking change sheet. Real organic traffic from their keywords is virtually non-existent. When I called to cancel, I was told that they would just stop doing "SEO" and no refunds. NOTHING! The package was a 12-month package, and I canceled in the 5th month. Do yourself and your business a favor and stay away from these people. UPDATE: They reached out and offered a partial refund. one star: I gave this firm a lot of money to do seo and website content. Signed a one year contract December 2019. They put some effort in the first month but after that, it was one quick phone call each month by the account coordinator followed by an email with a ranking and traffic report, The account manager who sold me the 12 month plan spoke to me twice. In December 2020 and December 2021. Set up my google ad spending, but did not even monitor it for me. They will blame covid for the poor performance of my web site endeavor, but that was not the case. The company did not put in the effort or the time on my site. read more

If I could give negative stars I would. It's rare to find a company that is so unethical and greedy that they are willing to unabashedly take advantage of their client. I hired this company specifically to market on FB for me. After a month, they were not able to fix the very issue I hired them to in order to run FB manager for me. As a result I discontinued my contract. I also requested my $1,000 first pmt back. They refused and said that money was spent researching how to fix my FB manager problem. That was not what that pmt was for. It was to market my company not research that they couldn't help me. When I hired them, they said they could help, and never said there was a question as to whether or not they could. In the end, they would not return my first pmt and itemized false services, none of which were actually marketing, but all research , in order to keep my first $1,000 payment. Do not work with unethical people like this. It's shameful and the reason people are afraid of dealing with marketing companies. What ever you do, do NOT waste your time or money with Mainstreethost. My sales person over-promised and under delivered. My account rep dropped the ball over and over. Even after I asked to be re-assigned, she contacted me... to renew my hosting contract, nonetheless! While the Wordpress site that I had them build for me was adequate, a site that I built myself with Wix got more traffic and inquiries in a FRACTION of the time. I switched over to Mainstreet host from Town Square because the told me about ALL the things town square wasn't doing, and how'd they'd make me a new site that would be way better than what I had before, unfortunately they fell way short. Not only did I not get monthly reports like I did with Town square, they took almost 9 months to build my site (which they had swore would be done in about 6 weeks. There are many other thing they promised and didn't deliver, but i dont know if there is enough space to write it all. At best they were mediocre, I gave them 2 stars (mainly because the cancelation was super easy. They didn't even try to ask what they were doing wrong. Not sure if that is a good thing or bad, but for me it was good.) Don't waste your money, unless you have money to burn. P.S. A few years ago I spent big bucks for Main Street Host to increase my SEO, aimed to help schools contact me for business. With their guidance, I created a "landing page" that was supposed to make it easier for my business to be found. On my home page there was a prominent heading: Learn More. That took visitors to the landing page, where, besides information, was a contact form to fill out. Some customers used that form to reach me. Then there was a long stretch with no tries from that contact form. So, over a span of a few days, I filled out the form and sent in contact information. Nothing. So I asked Main Street Host about that. Oops, they had deactivated that contact form, for no reason and without notifying me. So people tried to reach me, innocently expecting a quick response, but I never knew they had tried. Potential customers lost. Main Street Host has reactivated the contact form. No apologies. Avoid this outfit! read more
