I have been to pins many times now. I've gone in the day with family to celebrate birthdays, on week nights after dinner to bowl with friends and on weekend nights with friends for drinks. I would say I prefer the day time at pins over night. This is a great spot for celebrating because you can bring your own food. Service is hit or miss but over all a good time! read more

I'm struggling. What am I reviewing? I honestly don't know where to begin. Ok I do like starting with the good. The place is fun. Especially for groups and for kids. The place has a wide open and welcoming environment. Sure it gets busy, but you never feel without space to stretch out. The bowing, the games, and the slides are all great. Lots of fun. And tons of "free" stuff to do in there. I enjoy that you can bring in outside food. I wish that they had napkins or something for you, but not a big deal! The beer variety is great and the cocktails are pretty good. Can you tell I'm eager to get to the bad? It's the service. Mainly the bar service. This is a sample size of probably 10+ times being here and without a doubt, most of the bartenders are miserable, not polite, always act as if you are inconveniencing them. It's wild. It's not always the same person. I see new bartenders all the time there and without fail, they are really bad. The woman who was working the first floor main bar on Saturday 1/17 around 1:30pm was by far the worst. She was so bad that I'm at a breaking point and I need to avoid this place for awhile. I've been here before with friends on a busier time which was fun but also a bit deterring with the crowded younger scene that caused an hour wait for just a game of duck pins along with drunk behavior. I came with my son (12yo) last Sunday and had a much better experience. It was pretty empty, family friendly and spacious. The main negative is parking barriers but we typically can also find free parking Sundays. Kids bowl free along with free soda with a paying adult ($8/game), many other games are free - in fact I think we only paid for pin ball games, duck pins and drinks. There are an impressive number of beers on tap, many of them local. I found parking on the street. The size of the building is quite large. There are pinball and arcade games, many of them retro. Love the atmosphere, but we were here on a Saturday and were told the wait is 2 hours. It's been three and a half and we're still waiting. Meanwhile, most tables and areas are "under reservation". Visited the desk 3hrs in - 30 min left. 3 hrs 40 min in - still another 30-45 min...got a handful of free game passes handed to me, "yeah the wait time you never know because you don't know how long people will stay on"... UPDATE: my husband took kids back the next day and was outside the door ten minutes before open (11 am) only to be told ALL the lanes are reserved at 11:30, so they'll have to get off. read more

Pins has a full bar but no food service of their own. We went down the slides twice. The first time I clung to the sides (because I am fifty-seven). The second time I just let it rip. Very cool place! I love how spacious it is and the amount of fun things to do. The fun slides are a plus to this place. They have some really cool drinks you can try...many of them are so sugary so beware and always ask questions if you're not big into sweet tasting alcoholic beverages. Been to 3 Pins locations, and this one is hands down the worst. Not because of the activities offered at the location, on par with the others in that regard. It's warm inside, sticky surfaces everywhere, and infested with bugs. I wish I would have had my bug spray. I killed at least 50 bugs on just one table. Things to note when you go: They don't do reservations for lanes but since there are some on both levels, it shouldn't be an issue. This was one of the larger pin locations I have been to, combined with 16 bit. I always give the cocktails a shot but prefer their large beer selection. I was very impressed they have a whiskey and rootbeer drink, so unique haven't had root beer in a cocktail before . We were looking for something to do before heading back to our hotel, and hub's discovered this place. We had a ball. The guy at the front desk was chill and gave us the run down of what to expect and how everything works. We paid for a round of duck pins to start. It's bright with a handful of free games to play, ranging from skeeball to classic arcade games. There are 2 slides that we didn't give into sliding down despite the temptation. There are some pretty good photo ops scattered throughout the building, and we took advantage of a few. Theyel had $3 Tito's rail drinks on Tuesdays, so we took advantage of that. We went on a Friday night expecting it to be packed but surprisingly it wasn't. After being there for 15/20 mins we got onto a duck pin lane. Absolutely loved how this place was laid out and designed almost felt like an adult playground lol. Staff were really nice and helpful. Just roaming around was fun. We have been to Pins multiple times. We love it here!!! There is so much to do that is free. All the arcade games, a large light bright and slides are all free! On the 2nd floor there are pinball games that you have to pay for. There is duck pin bowling on the 1st and 2nd floor. If you want to bowl, I recommend putting your name on the list as soon as you arrive. I've been here where we get called right away and also when it takes 1.5 hrs. It is $6/bowler and you are only allowed to play 1 game. Its still a great time. Pins doesn't have food, but you can bring food in. There are plenty of tables throughout the building. They have a full bar on both floors and it is average price. Kids bowl free on Sundays (which I have yet to experience). We will be back soon! read more

What a great way to beat the heat! We were visiting family in Pittsburgh and needed something to do for a few hours on a hot and humid Saturday afternoon with my teens and twenty-somethings. What a great time and plenty of AC. This place is two stories, huge, and offers hours of fun. So many fun (free!) games full of laughs and novelty to play all just for the price of a drink for each of us (mocktails and nonalcoholic brew available too). They have a wide variety of beers on tap, and the bartenders make really good cocktails (especially if you ask them what their favorite ones to make are!). We came down to Pins Mechanical with my kids, brother, and his girlfriend. Since it was cold and rainy, this was a really good choice. I do not believe you can get food here, but they have a couple of bars for drinks. We did duck pin bowling, which was a lot of fun. We also played Patio Pong, which is like beer pong with huge red cans and gator balls. Bowling was only $6 per person, per game and patio pong was free for an hour. This might be my new favorite spot in Pittsburgh for games and fun drinks. I came here with a large group of people for a birthday party and there was plenty of space for us, our dogs, and pizza that we brought from a nearby restaurant.
