Christina did a phenomenal job with my wedding dress alterations. I was really worried about getting my dress altered as it needed some work and wedding dresses are expensive! Several of my colleagues go here and have raved about Christina and her work, so I entrusted them and her. I needed the back taken in as it pushed out too much, the bottom taken up as I'm short (even with heels), cups added into the chest area, and the bright white cups the designer put under the lace taken out. Christina did an excellent job with all the alterations she made. She was friendly, personable, efficient, and talented. At my final fitting, I wasn't loving how my chest sat in the dress with the cups and Christina made sure I was happy before leaving that day. We altered the cups quite a few times until it worked with my body. I would never recommend. I'm just shocked to see people thought the pricing was fair, $150 (in cash!) for a hem on a simple chiffon dress is unbelievable, and when I asked to please tighten it so it was more fitted, she didn't, I asked for a few other alternations and she responded with no. I know these could of been done as my wedding dress was the same material and my usual tailor did it all no problem for me. Also, it was still way too long and I was tripping over it, even with 4 inch stilettos I had to switch to instead of my 3 inch I wore at the fitting. I'm only giving 2 stars bc she did have it done quickly, even though it was not up to par. Hate to leave a negative review for any small business after how hard the last two years have been with the pandemic, but I can't let people waste (A LOT) of their money here. read more

I reached out to Pins and Needles asking to me an appointment. I got a message back from their FB page stating their hours for walks ins. I got for a walk in during those hours and there is a GIANT sign that says "NO WALK INS", as you can imagine I am surprised. I ask if that is the current policy as I was told they had walk ins. The Seamstress (I never got her name) said in an exasperated tone that they don't do walk ins. Again I am surprised but ask if there are any upcoming appointments, she says there are none for the next month. There seems to be some communication errors here, it's strange to tell customers you allow walk ins when they ask for an appointment that act shocked when one shows up. All I needed was a quick hem on a bridesmaid dress, I went to another seamstress and it took less than ten minutes so it's not like I had a huge bridal gown or something. read more

I have gone to Christina in the past for a bridesmaid dress alteration, and it came out PERFECT. So when I went to get married with no hesitation I called Pins & Needles for my bridal gown. Firstly, they were able to beat (by more than half) the alteration price that the bridal boutique offered me. She had no limits on the amount of alterations or try ons which was great because most of us brides are dieting and hoping to continue getting smaller. As I lost weight, Christina continued to alter the dress to ensure it was perfect for my day and at no extra charge. Days before my rehearsal dinner I got a dress in the mail. I loved it but it was too big up top and needed to be altered. I called Christina in a panic and she was able to see my that day and had my dress ready in time. Christina did an amazing job and I will continue to go to her for every alteration I need, I would highly recommend. My experience with this business is that they are EXTREMELY unprofessional. I brought in a $75 bridesmaids dress that I needed hemmed and straps tightened slightly. It took all of 10 minutes to put on the dress and for it to be pinned up. When leaving I was told that it would be $130. My initial thought was shock- but said okay and left. I thought about it and called them a few minutes later to let them know I would be coming back to pick up my dress - I have paid significantly less at other places for much more intricate dress alterations than just hem & straps. I was then told there was a $35 cancellation fee. When I expressed what a horrible business practice is they told me that they charge the fee because my appointment (10 mins keep in mind) could have gone to a bridal appointment instead. So I was essentially told that my appointment was not as important as a bridal appointment would have been. They do not give you any notice about the cancellation costs or alteration costs prior to your appointment. (So if I didn't pay the $35 I'm not sure what she was going to do.. steal my dress?? I never signed a contract agreeing to that). I will get my dress altered for much less somewhere else even with the cancellation fee and would prefer to feel valued as a customer. I asked a few friends for their opinion and they were also in shock- one friend told she paid $130 to get FIVE addresses hemmed elsewhere. Do yourself a favor and do not go here. UPDATE: After reading my review (which was simply just the truth of the matter) pins & needles called me and told me that they would not alter my boyfriends pants because of my review and to come pick them up. They chose the route of denying someone else's business instead of attempting to right a wrong with a customer. Extremely poor customer service and unprofessional. I am writing this review because my wife is too sweet to complain but this place was the worst. If you don't want to continue reading, then her is the shorten version. The place came recommended to her by the bridal shop where she bought her wedding dress, the tailor kept telling her after each fitting that she'd fix it by the next time she came in, and when she went into her last fitting nothing had gotten done. This forced her to go to a different seamstress 48 hours before our wedding as it was that bad. She had told me the first time she had gone in that the customer service wasn't great but they took her appointment quickly and the prices were reasonable. The real problem began when she went back a month later for her second fitting as the seamstress had only shorten the front of the dress and had done nothing else. She still needed the cups size fixed, and the zipper taken in closer to the body, all things that the seamstress assured her would be done the next time she had come in. Another month goes by, and my wife goes to try the dress on for the third and final time. Again, nothing had gotten done and the fit looked awful. It was at this point that she was getting a bad feeling about this place but felt like it was too late to switch shoppes. Two weeks after the appointment, she went to go pick up the dress but insisted on trying it on because of how bad it looked the last time. The shop was kind enough to accommodate her request, but the dress still wasn't right. When she asked if they could fix it, the seamstress said there was nothing she could do. My wife left and was obviously upset as we were only 4 days from our wedding. A seamstress that she has used before was kind enough to give my wife a second opinion and was astonished about how badly the first place had messed up including putting two different cup sizes in the breast area. The new seamstress had to redo everything that Pins and Needles had done but what took them 4 months to do, the new one took only 48 hours. Weddings are stressful enough, but this place added extra anxiety to the whole situation. If you get the feeling that things aren't getting done here, then I would suggest pulling your dress from Pins and Needles so you can avoid the added costs/stress my wife was subject too. read more

I found this business online and referred to my sister in law to take her dress for few small alterations. I was shocked when i heard what they did to her as i've never heard and seen such thing in my life in going to many many tailors!! They got her sizes in order to make the changes on the dress and at the end they told her how much it's going to be and the price was shocking!!! $120 ... i myself did a similar changed on my own dress at a different location with only $25!!! obvisouly my sister in law didn't want to spend that much and she thanked them and asked to just not do anything and she could go somewhere else... THEY MADE HER TO PAY $35 CANCELATION FEE! Just someone tell me where in planet this is normal to have someone pay $35 when they were standing in the store and they changed their mind due to being very very overprice!! didn't take her even 10 mins!! Highly recommend going here for alterations. The staff that work the front desk are super friendly and kind. Christina, who does the alterations is one of the most talented, hardworking, and kind hearted people I have ever met. She is super friendly and easy to talk to. She takes her job very seriously and pours her heart and soul into making sure your bridal gown is going to be perfect on your wedding day. My dress was a ballgown with a very long train, I am only 5 feet tall so there was alot to hem off the dress, you would never have known that by looking at the dress when it was completely finished. Not only did she do an amazing job on my bridal gown but she also made sure to steam my veil as well and placed both dress & the veil in new garment bags so that they would fit perfectly and not get ruined. I also had her do alterations on my maid of honors dress as well as my mother's. Not only did Christina do an amazing job which included( taking in both dresses because they were too big, but also hemmed both dresses). My made of honor's dress we had to ask to take in the material very close to the wedding and Christina made sure to squeeze us in for the appointment during the holiday season just so that my sister's dress would fit for the wedding. She also was super flexible with scheduling and even fit all three of us for our final appointments together. Christina does an amazing job and her main focus is always her clients happiness and she has so much experience and talent she does what's in the best interest for her clients. I first went here a year ago for a bridesmaid dress to be altered, this year I went for my bridal gown, and I also went with another dress for a wedding I was going to, plus my mother & bridesmaid dresses, and I plan on going here for future alterations ! I had never been to Pins and Needles before; this was my first time. Since I had not done business previously, I did not know if an appointment was needed. When I called to inquire about appointments, I was informed that I did not need one. At that point, I said I'd be buy at 10 am (the time that they open). I was informed to come a bit after 10, like 10:15, as the seamstress likes to settle in before taking customers. That should have been my first red flag. If you aren't ready to business at the time that you say you are open, then you either show up earlier in the day so that you can be settled by business hours, or change your business hours. When I arrived, I did not see any prices posted anywhere. I looked, trust me. I did see, however, many signs posted (and framed) that stated CASH ONLY. Ok, I made a mental note of that. I was shown to a fitting room so I could put the dress on. I stood on the podium in my dress when the seamstress came out. She did not say hello or even ask me my name. Fine, I thought; not everyone is super friendly. She went away pinning the hem on the dress. She did not ask me what length I wanted, but I'm not picky, so that didn't bother me (although it is worth noting if you are considering this business). Once the dress was pinned, I went to the front desk to be given an amount for the alterations - $150 to hem the dress, take in the top and add boning (which was neither recommended by the owner, nor requested by me). None of those alterations were itemized either - the cost was simply $150. I was like wow, that's 3 times the cost of the dress (it was a $50 bridesmaid dress that was made in China and ordered on Amazon). The young man at the front desk said "Alterations are expensive." The more I thought of it, the more I got irked that I was being charged to hem 3 layers when 2 of those were stitched together. I called back to ask about this and was given an elaborate explanation of what needed to be done and why I was being charged for 3 layers. I am a skilled enough at sewing to know that those 2 layers could be done in a way that is faster and easier than what they alleged. I decided not to have them do the alterations and told them I'd be buy to pick it up later. 5 minutes later I got a phone call from the shop, "Just a reminder there's a $35 consultation fee, cash only." If there is a consultation fee, that is something you charge the customer up front and something that you also tell them when they call for more information. I am not going to pay you for a fee that you have now made up in an effort to hold my dress hostage. I was so disgusted by this whole situation that I told them they could keep the dress. There was no way in hell I was going to give them a penny. I ordered another one for less than what they wanted for their consultation fee. If you do choose to do business with them, be vigilant. Ask the right questions ahead of time and ask for a ball park on the estimate. They have been in business for years and can easily tell you how much it will cost to take to hem one layer of a dress, etc. read more

Do not go here for wedding dress alterations. I had the worst experience imaginable. I loved the dress I chose. Unfortunately i brought it here and it was changed completely. The first photo is the shape when I purchased the dress. First Christina pulled the whole thing up and made it an empire waist. I asked her to fix it and she acted like I didn't know what I was talking about. The top of the dress remained my biggest concern as I went back more than five times. Then I noticed the dress seemed to look deflated. I was told that once it was steamed, it would bounce back to the original shape. That didn't happen. At my final fitting, there was an outline of a circle on the waist band. Christina laughed and said a cup had fallen from the bust. Her solution was to reach up and yank it out. The top of my dress was left looking deflated and lumpy. Finally, the dress was too long. A simple hem to the correct length on your wedding gown should not be too much to ask for when you're paying someone hundreds for alterations. I had to lift the dress to walk down the aisle. Minutes before this, when putting on the dress, I noticed dirt high up on the skirt. Luckily my makeup artist could remove it. I don't believe the dress was ever steamed or cleaned. Maybe this is why the shape was so wrong. Either way, my experience was a nightmare. I'm writing this in hopes that I might help another bride avoid the same issue. read more

Go somewhere else for your alterations!!! Every time I was in there I felt rushed. Christina wouldn't listen to the changes I wanted made to my wedding gown. All she cared about was the money I was giving her. Really regret giving this place my business. In reply to Christina's response: At each visit, I asked for changes to be made to my dress and the response was always "that's the way the dress is" despite me being unhappy with how the dress fit. It was this same poor customer service that was shown to me today when I couldn't return an item that was never worn before. My wedding was less than a week ago. read more

I had my dress, a brides maid dress and a wedding dress altered......a ton of money....and she wanted CASH! Honestly, I don´t ever write bad reviews since I´d rather highlight amazing service and quality, but this one I just couldn´t let go.... I brought a bridesmaid dress to be altered about a year ago. I was breastfeeding so I requested that the straps be taken off and then put back on with snaps inside the dress for ease of access. It was an EASY job. Because it was so easy I kept putting off picking the dress up as I´m a was knee deep in infant twins at home. A couple days before the wedding I picked it up, and again, not thinking twice about it, didn´t try it on. For sure, my bad. The morning of the wedding I go to put it on and realize the straps were put back on completely wrong. One was where it was supposed to be, but the other was way off to the side. It was comical how bad it was. I had to tuck the straps inside the dress the whole night, but again, as a breastfeeding mom of twins, I had to constantly tug at it the entire night since I had lost my support. I went back in the next week to show her the goof, since I was picking up other items I had dropped off. She immediately apologized and told me that one of her assistants had done it and she should have checked their work. She gave me a discount on the jacket I was having altered. So all was well. Everyone makes mistakes and she dealt with it the right way. Months later I show up with another bridesmaids dress to have altered. This one needed a lot of work. I trusted her to fix it how she saw fit. The bill was insane. Almost triple the price of the dress. Fine whatever, too late at that point. I went in for multiple fittings, bringing along my then twin one years olds, aka not easy. Each fitting something else happened. She was supposed to take the netting off the top, and kept forgetting, soo another fitting. She forgot to add boning, another fitting. And somehow each time she forgot something she seemed more and more annoyed at me, despite the crazy price I was paying and the fact it wasn´t my mistake. Finally they said the dress was done, and it had been such an ordeal and had gotten awkward enough that I didn´t try it on there. Once I got home I put it on and realized the whole bottom hem was uneven. So uneven the whole right side was much lower then the entire left side. Completely unwearable. I called immediately to tell them that I would need to come back in and the girl on the phone was basically telling me I was wrong and that there was no way there was anything wrong with it. I had to be firm in saying that I wouldn´t be making it up and asked when I could come back. I went in the next day, again, with my twins, and the second Christina saw me she shook her head and was incredibly rude to me. I was immediately teary eyed with her treatment. She again stated there was NO way there was a mistake. I pleaded with her saying that I would not be bringing my twins back again if there was nothing wrong. Finally I ¨convinced¨ her to let me try the dress on again, and of course I was right. She starting pinning up the side that was longer, but never even uttered an I´m sorry,¨ or ¨my mistake.¨ Instead we stood awkwardly in silence while she continued to mumble things under her breath and make me feel as if the whole thing was my fault. Or that I was being high maintenance. Truly, I am not this way, but at the end of the day, when I´m paying that much money to get something worked on, I´d like to look somewhat good in it, especially being that it was a family wedding. I got out of her store and was shaking it was such a terrible experience. I will NEVER go back. And I´ve told quite a few people who have asked where to go for tailoring not to go to her. Horrific customer service. Got rushed into a fitting without a quote, the fee was outrageously expensive- with no explanation. Changed my mind literally 15 minutes later and they wanted $35 to get my dress back. They said the policy was posted but no one mentioned it, no one brought it to my attention and I want asked to sign anything. This is an owner run operation and when I called to speak to her she was too busy. Christina did a great job on my dress. It was all lace with an illusion back and I was terrified it would cost me an arm and a leg to get altered. Luckily the dress fit me pretty well and need only a few tweaks. The price was reasonable and it was exactly what she quoted me when all was said and done. After having had some horrific experiences at local bridal shops, their good attitude and nice environment were a breath of fresh air that inspires confidence. I bought a mother-of-the-groom dress on the west coast (first mistake) and had it tailored at my dry cleaner (second mistake). It really wasn't quite right, and I started to panic yesterday when I realized that no matter what I did, the top of the dress was just too big. I called Pins & Needles, almost in tears (wedding is in two weeks in CA). They were wonderful. I got in for an appointment today, the seamstress created a miracle, and my dress will be ready in 4-5 days. The cost for the alterations was very reasonable, the staff incredibly friendly, and I just love the seamstress. She is amazing! read more

I brought the bridesmaid dress from hell into this place when another tailor quoted me $600 to make it fit me (it was way too small on the bottom and oddly made). It took three fittings, but Christina made a miracle happen. I wore it to the wedding, danced in it all night, and tested it to the limits. Nothing ripped!!! I then went back to get some pants that I had recently bought to be taken in, and after the alterations they also fit perfectly. Christina worked on both my bridesmaid dress and I brought the mother of the groom in with me to get her dress done. Let me just say how much work needed to be done to the mother of the grooms dress. We purchased a size 16, it was atleast 2-3 sizes to small (lesson learned never order dresses online, ALWAYS ALWAYS try it on) So needless to say Christina had to work miracles on this dress. It was a beautiful Adriana Papell gown that was hand beaded all over the entire dress. Christina added fabric to the sides of the dress. it needed 7 inches total. I took the mother of the Groom back 2 weeks later for another fitting....I don't know what she did but she lost weight and went down a dress size so Christina had to go back and take it in. We set up another fitting and FINALLY the dress fit. Christina kept it with her again and added beadwork to the sides where she had added the fabric and did the hem. You would have never known the dress had been touched. She did an amazing job and was so patient with us! My dress she hemmed, adjusted the shoulder strap and added boning in the breast area to help hold it up. my dress didn't move all night--and I was DANCING. lol. I highly recommend Pins and Needles to everyone whether going to get pants hemmed or your wedding gown done, this is truly a great alteration shop. read more

I needed a Mother of the Groom dress altered and they did a fantastic job! The dress was a sample dress that I bought from a local bridal shop and like most samples it needed some additional work to make it fit just right and Christina made sure that it did from hemming the layers of chiffon to adjusting the straps within the off the shoulder top and all at a very reasonable price. We found that someone has previously ripped the back of the dress and tried to repair it and Christina and her staff were able to repair it perfectly and quickly. I highly recommend them! read more

I want to share an experience with other consumers. It was prom season and my daughter found the most perfect dress. We took it to pins and needles for alterations. They were all very nice at the fitting. When we came to pick up the dress it was far from perfect. All the beading was hanging from threads at the bottom of the dress. There was no finish stitch and now too short and you could see her shoes. When it was brought to there attention we were told it was fine and they would fix the loose beads. We took the dress home and upon a closer look saw how all of the beading was never tied off . I went to the place for compensation and was told to leave the place of business. Never trust a CASH ONLY establishment !!! read more
