Came here for a date night and really enjoyed myself. I felt like We were sitting back in our grandparents home waiting for a home cooked meal. The staff are always extremely friendly and attentive. This place has a great happy hour bit we had our grandson and you have to sit at the bar to reap the benefits. Oh well. We sat at a table promptly after walking in. I really wanted to like this place, but the food was just... strange. It's positioned as an Italian-American restaurant, but the dishes didn't really land. My pasta sauce was almost brown and tasted more like a vegetable gravy than a classic Italian red sauce. I only got two meatballs, and the portion was surprisingly small for $22 before tax. My wife's pizza was also off -- not bad, just weird. It kind of felt like something you'd get at a random house party where someone tried their best, but it wasn't restaurant-level quality. For the price, it just didn't feel worth it. On the positive side, the service was friendly and the bread they brought out at the start was actually pretty good. But overall, the food just didn't justify the cost. We probably won't be coming back. read more

Needed food on a rainy, cold Christmas Eve shopping day so we went to Pinocchio's in Sparks off of Vista. Luckily the restaurant was still open at 2:00, closing at 4:00 for the holiday. The place was pretty busy even though the bar was empty. There were at least a half a dozen tables when we walked in with customers and five or six tables were seated after we were. We were greeted immediately, The food arrived quickly and everything was hot, fresh and delicious. The steak tacos came with three good size tacos and a pile of fries. The hamburger was monstrous and very good You could make your own toppings. The grilled cheese and tomato soup hit the spot in the noki disappeared quickly. We didn't have room for dessert but would have liked to try the mud pie, next time. on our way out every single employee wishes Merry Christmas which I found just amazing. Great restaurant hadn't been there in a couple of years but I will definitely keep it on my list in the future provided with menus and waters and placed our order within 5 minutes. Our waitress was very friendly and helpful and answered our questions. We decided on the hamburger with onion rings, the street steak tacos with sweet potato fries, grilled cheese with soup of the day which was tomato bisque and pesto pasta. The food arrived quickly and was hot, fresh and delicious. The hamburger was monstrous and served with big, delicious onion rings. We received three steak street tacos of good size served with a pile of sweet potato fries. The grilled cheese with tomato bisque soup hit the spot. And the pesto pasta was flavorful. Every single employee wished us Merry Christmas as we left which was very heartwarming. I haven't been to this location in a couple of years but it's definitely on my list to return to. In the area and first time here. Excellent service by a very friendly bartender Jamie ! She was fast efficient courteous and remembered everyone's names ! They also had a great happy hour special - tried their chicken tenders with peppered blue cheese and drunken mushrooms. Both were very tasty ! I definitely recommend and will be back. Pinocchio's has been in the area since 1997. Opening in Sparks in 2006. My friends had dined here before but it was my first time. I was amazed by the eclectic decor, anything and everything hanging from the walls and ceiling, antiquities and art and funky objects. Super Fun atmosphere. It was Valentine's Day and our regular Friday group of friends came here as a change from our regular weekly hangout spot. I was excited to try the clam chowder because I had heard much praise and it did not disappoint. A Very hearty broth with plenty of flavor. A friend ordered lasagna, another the Frisco burger another ordered a French dip and one ordered healthy, The Big Ass Salad and boy did it live up to its name. I had also ordered onion rings which were battered and fried perfectly but slightly overpriced for the portion size. And as a cocktail appropriate for the holiday because of red color, A Cosmopolitan. I asked around the table and everyone was very pleased with their meals. One strike against it and comments from some others in the group was that it was a bit pricey, but I explained that has become the norm whenever dining out anymore. Hadn't been here in years and decided to give this place another try. Glad I did! Sat in the bar area which had a nice atmosphere with football games on tv to watch. I ordered the garlic steak sandwich. The steak was cooked perfect. It was tender and full of flavor. It came with fries but they are your typical beer battered fries but they are still pretty good. The service was quick and great. We even got to chat with the owner JP for a bit. He is a great guy and made sure our table was well taken care of and plates came out properly to us. When we go to Pinocchio's we usually go to the one on Kietzke but tonight we decided to try this location for the first time. The service was parallel. The host immediately greeted and welcomed us in with a smile, and our server tended to us, kept our drinks topped off and was very nice. The food offers huge portions, and it tasted delicious. Neither one of us had an complaints, and when they bring out the bread they put the butter underneath it so that the heat can help soften and get it ready for use. It's been a long while since I've been to pinocchios and we live close in sparks now, so knew we had to try it out again. The decor is lovely we got seated right away. My son's fries were crispy and yummy. My mom got the pasta with cream sauce and said it was kinda blah. The garlic bread with pesto could have the pesto seasoned a lot more. We stopped in here a couple of weeks ago for dinner. The decor is very eclectic - lots of random things hanging from the ceiling and walls. I had the chicken scallopine - which came with a starter salad (decent sized with lots of blue cheese but too much dressing). The chicken was not very flavorful, the sauce on the pasta was very sweet, the veggies were ok (green beans and carrots). Bob had the seafood fettuccini which had an extremely bland, watery 'sauce' and the shrimp, salmon and scallops were over cooked/rubbery. On the upside - our server was extremely nice, and checked in on us during the meal. Not likely that we will be back anytime soon. read more

Great option for food, especially on a FRIDAY! We went to the Sparks location, greeted by Pinocchio himself. We had a 15min wait, which we were easily accommodated at the bar while waiting for our table. The ladies working there are very friendly and efficient, even when working under pressure of a busy night. As for the food, I give it a 5 stars. Even though we had a spicy experience with the wings, our server Jamie (I hope I got her name right), she was on it right away and got us another set of wings, not spicy this time. The polenta was also very delicious. A combination of feta cheese, marinara sauce, spinach and mushrooms. The chicken lasagna was very delicious. I wish I had a bigger piece though. The start of the night was their FRIDAY/SATURDAY special ITALIAN CLAM and CHOWDER. Make sure to try this special. It is only available on Friday and Saturdays and you won't find it on their menu. For dessert, I had their home made bread pudding. Nice and warm, served with some whipped cream. I definitely recommend this place. They have plenty options, including their ribs. read more

Very okay experience. This was our first time, and maybe our last. Wasn't terrible but wasn't great. To start, service was great! Immediately welcomed by hostess who was extremely friendly with a smile on her face. Got sat right away. Our waitress was Tori and she was also great. Checked on us throughout our dinner, was super nice, easy to talk to, all in all a great server! Atmosphere is fun, very random and crazy but that's the theme. Now for the food.... First of all, we love to support a local restaurant and will pay more to eat somewhere local than a chain but this place is pretty expensive, especially for the quality of the food. I forget the names of our dishes but I got the veggie dish over pasta. Usually comes with red sauce but I asked for the Cajun cream white sauce which they were able to replace without a problem. This was the most bland dish I've ever eaten. Wasn't bad, but just had literally no flavor. The sauce was very watered down and oily, and there just was no flavor in any part of the meal. The vegetables were also different cooked levels. The carrots were very cooked. Super soft and tender. The cauliflower tasted raw. It was hard and crunchy. Same with the broccoli. Just a lot of weird textures together in one meal. For my appetizer I had the house salad. The dressing was also weird to me, although a vinaigrette (which I'm usually a fan of) it was too tangy for me. My husband got the raviolis which for the day were cheese raviolis topped with sausage, and some vegetables. This was in red sauce. Same thing on the tenderness of the vegetables. He seemed to like his meal better than mine. He started with the soup which for the day was a beef soup almost like a chili and he liked that as well. We also got an order of garlic bread which was also nothing really special. At the end of the night we had one order of ravioli, one order of a pasta with vegetables, one beer, a soda and a garlic bread and it somehow was almost $70 before tip. Again, the price point for a local restaurant is doable but the food just didn't meet the price tag. Overall I'll give 3 stars for friendly service and quick delivery of the food but for food alone it's definitely 1-2 stars for me unfortunately. read more

April 18, 2023 Party of 2 Atmosphere - 3 stars: An odd and cool collection of ski, hats and different weird themed items hanging from the ceiling, definitely a dust magnet. The seating area seemed clean, but the floor was sticky in areas. Service - 4 stars: Very good service, our server Brittney was on top of our service. She had to double check on all of our requests, due to a gluten and soy allergy.   Food - 3 stars: Party of 2 and we both ordered the Tri Tip Special, but one plate was asked to be gluten-free and soy-free. When the food came both were the exact same. Tri Tip, vegetables, mashed potatoes with gravy, and garlic bread. That's right...they served a gluten allergy with gravy that contained flour! Apparently, the kitchen either did not get the message from the server, or they do not understand that gravy with flour is not gluten-free and can be dangerous to someone with a gluten allergy. In their defense the garlic bread was only on one plate as requested and new dish of cold potatoes without gravy were brought to the table. Overall the Tri Tip was well seasoned and tasted good, but the potatoes were served cold and the gravy was bland. The price point versus what you get is pretty high, even for the increased cost lately in food. At these prices probably will not try again. read more

Came in the other day as a treat from a friend. It's been years since I had been in, so I was looking forward to giving it a try again. We were a large party of 10, but they were able to accommodate us. However, we were informed that any more people would require us to be separated. Large party gratuity was automatically added to the check (which is understandable), and we could only do one check (that was a bit odd, but thankfully wasn't an issue for our party in particular). Our waiter was attentive, helpful, and friendly. Food came out quickly and hot and our drinks never got too low before refills were offered. I ordered the Turkey Ciabatta and it was fantastic! Actually, the outstanding food quality and the impeccable service at both the Reno and the Sparks locations consistantly provide a superb dining experience each and every time. Once again, Pinocchio's Prime Rib is proven to be about the tastiest prime rib in all of Reno and Sparks. You will be hard pressed to find a more tender and delicious and generous size dinner. The chicken strips were served very hot and so tasty. Our waitress for dinner on May 8 2024 was Cristina, who coincidentally was our server at the Reno location at our lunch there last month. Cristina is an obviously valuable and talented employee to work at both locations. She was SO personable, helpful, and welcoming, and we were tended to impeccably throughout our time there, as was every table around us. What a pleasant, friendly and hard working team member! My husband got the Valentines special, the seafood pasta, and he loved it. It said the Alfredo sauce was creamy without being too heavy. I had their French Dip sandwich, which is always good. My only complaint was the bread was a little hard and chewy. But it still tasted great. I also had the Pink Chocolate Martini, which was sweet with a kick. My husband and I love Pinocchio's. Not only is the eclectic decor fun, the food is always good. As a local restaurant, the owners go out of their way to support the local community. Our first time eating at this location, (and the review will be on the catered tri tip buffet). We were impressed with the fun decor, and the two big rooms for parties (our company had the back room. Our party had been set up nicely and there were around 40ish attending employees. The buffet menu was impressive, with a green salad, tri tip, meatballs in a red sauce, penne pasta with pesto, mashed potatoes with a brown gravy, marinated chicken, a creamy white sauce with pasta, and bread. Lots of socializing, and a fun, relaxing party. Great raffle prizes, and just a great time. We will definitely be trying the other location, closer to our house. read more
