My dentist found an abscess and said that he could not repair it. He recommended Dr John at Pinnacle Endodontics. He told me that Dr John was the real deal, the best. I made an appointment on the following Wednesday. The competency was evident on my first visit. Receptionist Michelle was very helpful with the history and medical form. Then Dr John examined the x-rays and then the tooth. He was very thorough in explaining the problem and what he was going to do. He answered all my questions. I made an appointment for Friday for him to start the work. His chair side manner was marvelous. He explained the hand gestures to alert him of problems while he was working. He must have known that my memory was suspect and had a hand signal graphic taped to the exam equipment. He kept asking if I was comfortable. He finished the preliminary preparation of the tooth in a couple of hours, always making sure I was comfortable. Michelle set up the follow up appointment for the following Monday. Dr John finished the job in about an hour. If an Endodontics procedure can be described as a pleasure, it was not. But it was not a pain either. Dr John made sure I was comfortable during the entire process, even asking if I needed a restroom break, which was welcome. I have to agree with my dentist, Dr John is the real deal. First of all I need to say I hate going to the dentist... that being said... you wanna keep your teeth forever I had an infection due to four silver points. I had put in after a root canal back in the 70s. Dr John and his staff made me feel so comfortable. Dr John was not sure if he was going to be able to get them out. He spent several hours. Getting a root canal is serious business so you want to go to someone you trust who uses the latest technology and super caring with attention to detail so all goes well and it also lasts a long time. I couldn't recommend Dr John and his staff more. He did a root canal for me and 10 years later dentists at my check ups still say whoever did my root canal did a fantastic job. I needed another one (not sure why since otherwise super healthy & do all recommended; maybe due to brushed too hard with hard toothbrushes growing up they now know that's not good.) I definitely went back to Dr John again and received the same super high quality care I highly recommend. Not sure if this would be true for everyone, but I never felt any pain after any treatments from Dr John even though mine was a tougher case with long curvy roots. Exceptional service all around! My son (10 yr old) has mod/severe autism and requires a great deal of patience and special care. Dr. John and his staff were amazing, as was the dental anesthesiologist, Marco Savittieri (who has provided amazing service to my son twice -- from Dental Anesthesia Associates). Dr. John's team allowed us to come and have a tour so my son would know what to expect at his first appointment. They work very hard to put their patients (and parents!) at ease. At the x-ray appointment, Dr. John went above and beyond by having an x-ray taken himself so my son could watch the process and know exactly what to expect (relieving anxiety and demonstrating what my son would need to do). It helped A TON. I cannot say enough good things about this endodontist and his wonderful team. They were so very kind and respectful toward both my son and me. After care is also phenomenal! I received a very detailed report of what happened during my son's treatment within a few hours of the root canal procedure. I also received a call from the anesthesiologist a couple hours after we got home, checking in to make sure my son was doing ok. His front office staff is very helpful when it comes to the dreadful financial and insurance conversation. We get wrapped up in the dental coverage scheme and why doesn't my insurance pay more!? Dr. John genuinely wants to help you get out of pain. After I wrote my review, I went back several years to read other reviews. I find it funny when people are offended at the fact that Dr. John or the staff are being UPFRONT about the cost when they know if something is or isn't covered. I would much rather leave there knowing I will be paying 100% for something if they already know insurance will deny it. Unlike when we go to the hospital, wait and expect a bill for $100,000, or something ridiculous and outrageous. The insurance is not our advocate, they are the ones who are in it for the money. If you find yourself at Dr.Johns office, it's likely that you have swelling, in pain, cracked tooth, cant sleep or going out of town etc. And if you are having any of those symptoms, I would assume they will try to start treatment while you are there. which is why they would be giving you an estimate and asking you to sign and consent for treatment. ‍ read more

Dr John was an absolute lifesaver for me. I was experiencing infections in 4 previous route canals that were performed in 2018. I was in the most intense and excruciating pain I have ever experienced. Now granted this was over a weekend, but I contact my original endodontist who performed the procedure and never received a callback. I was so desperate, I contacted 3 other endodontist's in the area. Same result. I was so desperate that I contacted Dr. John on a Sunday morning and left a message on his personal mobile. It's very important for me to mention this...I was not a patient of his, nor did I have any history with him. He contacted me within 5 minutes, understood and acknowledged the amount of pain I was in, and agreed to see me on short notice on his day off. A short note about seeing Dr. John @ Pinnacle Endodonics. I was sent here by my general dentist for a root canal consultation. My dentist and another consulting doctor said I was going to need a root canal. So when I went to my appointment with Dr. John, I was expecting to have a root canal. After imaging, I was told the root canal wasn't my best option and told he would not do a root canal as it would only be a waste in the long term. Dr. John gave me good medical advice that cost him some business, but his thoughtfulness made me a patient for life. I saw Dr. John initially for a second opinion when my general dentist told m I needed a root canal. Dr. John and his office staff made themselves available right away, and it was ultimately determined that I did need a root canal. He ran a bunch of tests first because he wanted to make sure that I really did need the procedure, and that he "didn't want to drill into a healthy tooth". I appreciated his being careful about this, and explaining things thoroughly to me. Dr John and Grace did the procedure over two visits. I was really nervous since this was my first root canal, but they did everything possible to make me comfortable. I didn't feel any pain, and things went fine! They were very thorough and careful, and followed up with me after the treatments too. I also appreciated their giving me advice on finding a new dentist in my area. Bravo! read more

Dr. John performed a root canal on a tooth that should have been extracted due to the tooth's structural integrity not being stable. Two weeks after his procedure, the tooth broke off from the gum line while I was waiting to be refitted for a new crown. When I went to the dentist, you could see the tooth was hollowed out with decay. This should have been diagnosed correctly by removing the old crown rather than drilling through it. An old root canal became infected due to the crown not fitting flush with my gum line, causing a cavity. Dr. John told me that there might be a cavity but blamed the inflammation and pain on a supposed root missed during the first root canal five years ago. Instead of removing the crown to see the tooth's condition, he decided to drill through it and perform a second root canal. Two weeks later, the tooth became infected again, and I had to see him two more times until the inflammation was gone. Two weeks after the final visit, my tooth broke off. 03/28: In response to Dr. John: Your full of sh*t. You know you can't perform an extraction and chose to do the root canal. Show me the x-ray of the missed canal. I'm calling your office for it. Furthermore, the 2 months treatment I received at your office, hurt my grade during finals. read more

I was on holiday in San Diego and on day 2 I had terrible tooth ache and I really needed to see someone. It didn't help it was Saturday night and I thought the chance of being seen on a Sunday was unlikely. I was referred to Dr John by the fantastic Dr Robert Kim. I never thought I'd find myself writing a review for an Endodontics office, but here we are. Having a problem tooth during a pandemic, when nearly every business is closed or limited - you can imagine the panic I went through when my chipped molar decided to act up. I was referred to Dr. John by Dr. Bold, and Dr. John was available to take me in the same day. Did I mention we are in the middle of a pandemic? This was awesome news ...for my tooth (me, not so thrilled to be spending my day dentist hopping). The staff at Pinnacle was very professional and were taking every precaution to protect their patients during these sensitive times. The office was spotless, and all staff was respectfully wearing protective masks. The familiar smell of Lysol wipes was evident which meant this place was well sanitized! They made sure that I had only entered the office only after the previous patient had left. After taking 3D x-rays of my problem tooth, Dr. John gave me the low down and even offered to start the procedure that day. I opted to come back on another day, and they made sure to send me home with special instructions on how to not kill/damage my problem tooth over the weekend. When I returned for the procedure two days later, the staff helped me feel secure and I was well taken care of. Dr. John even showed off his cool Cub Scout techniques when offering to help me find a better way to help keep my wireless headphones in my ears. Dr. John and Jessica were a dream team and helped save my problem tooth (crazy anatomy of it, and all)! I would rather get a root canal then come to this office but oh wait I need a root canal so here I am! Whaaaaa!!!! I was referred here by my regular dentist when he couldn't figure out what was causing my tooth pain. I went here blind without reading any reviews so I am so grateful that things turned out so well. I had originally had an appointment here on a Thursday but contacted the office on Monday telling them that my face was starting to swell. They immediately called me back and told me they can see me right away because they were worried. I was not expecting that but was relieved as the pain was getting worse. I quickly cleared my schedule and headed into the office. The staff could not be more welcoming and his assistant I wish I remembered her name was a student and she was so nice and helped me calm my nerves. Dr John upon our first meeting was really witty and kind even though I did want to punch him in the face while he was shooting up my mouth with numbing meds. Fckkkkk that part was so painful I wish he could have just knocked me out. I did ask though and it wasn't an option lol! The procedure itself was definitely not a walk in the park. It was about the length of a movie. He used these binocular things to look inside my mouth instead of his naked eyes which was kind of cool. He kept apologizing when I was in pain and did his very best to make me comfortable. I spent a good 4 hours there but the good news is as soon as he was done the pain in my tooth completely subsided. I took some Tylenol for swelling the next few days but never needed anything stronger. He called and texted me to check up on me which was very appreciated. He was always available and responsive when I had a question after. His bedside manners alone warrant 5 stars. A few weeks after I received a nice check in the mail from his office. I guess there was a balance left after my insurance paid. I have never in my life received a refund check of any kind from a dental office!! It makes me believe he is honest as he could have easily pocketed the money. Thank you so much for taking such good care of me and squeezing me in before my appointment date. I must begin by saying that Dr. John and his staff are truly compassionate and genuine professionals who take their time to learn about each patients personal situation. I have seen multiple dentists, root canal specialists and even a neurologist for extreme sensitivity in my back molars (coming up on two years dealing with this pain when eating anything relatively hot or cold). Not a single person has been able to help me and some have even considered performing root canals on my perfectly healthy and living teeth. From the second I walked in, Autumn made me feel so comfortable and assured me that Dr. John will do everything to help me. Anyway, I have had really traumatic dental experiences and it's so insane that my first root canal was also my best dental experience ever. These people are not only experts in the field with cutting edge technology, they are also incredibly compassionate. Dr John took time to talk my through my fears, his staff made sure I was fed, warm, comfortable. I mean, they wrapped me in a snuggie and put a movie on for me upside down so that I could watch it while in the position I needed to be in for the procedure. But, to all those reading this, and thinking of going to Pinnacle endodontics and getting treated by Dr John..I assure you you are in the best and most honest hands.. His use of the microendoscope for root canals, has made it almost impossible to realise that a tooth was ever opened! This also, removed the necessity of putting a crown on teeth after root canal treatment, on few teeth. His craftsmanship yields esthetics that an average person can just dream of...
