This review is long overdue! I visited Carmel Valley Endodontics in March 2025, and honestly, I didn't know what to expect. I've always been pretty anxious about root canals (they sound intimidating, right?). But my experience here was completely painless, both literally and figuratively. Dr. Justin Naylor is exceptional at what he does and made the entire process feel easy and stress-free. I also had a wonderful experience with Stacy at the front desk! She was an absolute delight and made me feel so welcome. Believe it or not, I'm actually gearing up for my next root canal (I know, crazy!) and I'm genuinely looking forward to coming back! See you soon Dr. Naylor and Stacy! read more

Dr Naylor and his staff are amazing . I have had 2 root canals here and both times were great experiences. They make you feel relaxed and comfortable during the entire experience. I highly recommend this office. read more

Dr. Naylor is really the best. My dentist told me I probably needed a root canal (or, eek, an extraction). Dr. Naylor is my go-to for a root canal. They squeezed me in here the next day, and Dr. Naylor did the fancy imaging... which showed that it was a complicated issue. He told me that a root canal might not resolve things permanently and I might end up needing an extraction. I appreciated his honesty and his willingness to explain to me what an extraction, which is something his office doesn't perform, would involve, and his wanting me to have the best information possible even if it was less for him to bill! My husband has come here now too because Dr. Naylor is so professional and makes root canals so easy if you need one. I also appreciate Heather, Stacey and Kristie. Now I need an oral surgeon so I hope I find one as skilled and ethical as Dr. Naylor! read more

I am writing to express my profound gratitude for the exceptional care my father received at Carmel Valley Endodontics after his referral from Dr. Klein's office. From my initial contact, your team demonstrated an unparalleled level of professionalism and compassion. Stacy, in particular, was a beacon of support. Her comprehensive knowledge and incredibly gracious demeanor not only facilitated a seamless scheduling process but also offered immense reassurance, especially given my father's ongoing health challenges. Her ability to anticipate our needs and provide clear, empathetic guidance truly set a positive tone for our experience. The entire staff handled my father with extraordinary sensitivity and grace, ensuring his comfort and well-being were always paramount. This empathetic approach was deeply appreciated and truly reflects the high standards of your practice. Dr. Naylor is, without exaggeration, an outstanding endodontist. His remarkable clinical expertise is matched only by his exceptional bedside manner. He approached my father's treatment with a unique blend of profound knowledge and reassuring empathy, clearly explaining each step and alleviating any anxieties. His precision and skill were evident throughout the procedure, leading to an outcome where my father experienced absolutely no post-operative pain after his root canal - a testament to Dr. Naylor's mastery. Having spent numerous years immersed in the dental community, with experience across a wide range of practices throughout San Diego County, I can confidently attest to Carmel Valley Endodontics' stellar, well-deserved reputation. Your commitment to patient care, clinical excellence, and compassionate service is truly exemplary. Thank you once again for delivering such an exceptional standard of care. We are incredibly grateful and will enthusiastically recommend your practice to others. A special shout-out to Heather for her continual support and care! read more

The services were good. The Billing is RUDE and a SCAM. I was told that the Services were included. A Month later I got an additional Bill in the mail demanding another $107 for "Too Many Services in Time Period." There are 2 Doctors who are cool - this Billing Practice is FRAUD. STAY AWAY !! This is a very unprofessional group that only chases after your money. All they keep talking about is payments and money. The Dr. is very young and very unprofessional. They mis-diagnosed my case and I also went into a major operation with them. People don't realize that a bad dentist or an endodontic can have major implications. read more

Kind, efficient, and understanding staff. Very welcoming. All communicated very well and left me feeling assured in the work and treatment. Pain free & professional. Best (and only, hopefully) root canal of my life! read more

I was referred here by my dentist and after calling for an appointment, they were able to fit me in before the end of the year! Yay! We were sent forms to fill out at home so when I arrived, all I had to do was let them know I had arrived. In the beginning I had to take a regular x-ray and then a 3D Xray then Dr Naylor came to do a quick consultation to see if I needed a root canal, and of course, I did. Dr Naylor asked if it was my first time and reassured me that it would feel just like a regular filling and it's really not as scary as it's made out to be... and he was absolutely correct! I was given 3 shots to numb the area and then I waited for it to kick in. The whole process from X-ray to me walking out the door was literally 1 hour. The time of the actual root canal was 25 mins just as Dr Naylor had predicted! The process did not hurt at all apart from the shots but that's expected. After finishing, I was given an envelope that contained post treatment medication and things to look out for! The next day, one of their staff members even texted to check up on how I was doing! Dr Naylor really knows what he's doing and I would highly recommend him and his office for your root canals! Carmel Valley Endodontics is located on the second floor of the building. There are elevators so it's very accessible. read more

Find a different endodontist even if your general dentist refers you here. I went here for a root canal and Naylor did such poor work that now I cannot have a crown put in. I have daily pain and will likely need an implant. Naylor does terrible work and has the chair side manner of a sack of potatoes. Front office staff are rude. I will never go back here. read more

Had a root canal done here and honestly, I was impressed. The whole procedure took less than 25 minutes and the team was super professional the entire time. They explained everything clearly, made sure I was comfortable, and got me in and out way faster than I expected. If you're nervous about getting a root canal, this is the place to go -- efficient, clean, and on point. Highly recommend! Thanks Heather read more

I came here because my dentist refered to them for root canal. The person I spoke with told me that they accepted my dental insurance. I get there and they told me they needed to a 3d x-ray. After doing the procedure, they told me that didn't take my insuranche. They charged me $400 for it. Needless to say, I was upset. I don't recommend this place. read more

When do CBCT I told the operator I have done another CBCT in a year, the operator said she checked the insurance and all fee will be covered. Yet the insurance only cover a CBCT every 12 months. Dr. Korbar just did my first root canal. I was really nervous about this. He was as perfect as a dentist could be--and I am very particular. He and his staff made me feel taken care of. This is my 2 nd root canal from Dr Naylor, and I will not let anyone else do my root canals. He seriously is so gentle and concerned for your comfort, doesn't jam anything in your mouth, and talks you through anything he is doing and what you may be feeling. To say a root canal is enjoyable is far from the truth but with Dr Naylor, it actually is and this is the 2 nd time. My first one took a little over 30 mins and was more complex and the last one I just had was 15 mins start to finish and was simpler. Both times he and the staff was fantastic. Thank you! read more

I had TWO ROOT CANALS ON THE SAME TOOTH HERE. I DO NOT GIVE NEGATIVE REVIEWS, BUT WHEN YOU DON'T CALL ME BACK THEN I WILL GIVE SOME ACTION. TWO. 2. I have a bad tooth. I had TWO ROOT CANALS that didn't work. When i call and ask for advice, you should call me back. That's not good Karma and not good business. Folks the facility is nice. The folks that work here are nice, caring, but I wouldn't advise going here due to the fact I got ghosted after getting TWO ROOT CANALS ON THE SAME TOOTH. I can't eat on the right side of my mouth without thinking about getting ghosted. The lastime I felt like this my chick bailed me for a dude who looked like Jude Law. read more

I wasn't going to write a review, especially since getting a root canal is not something I was excited to have done, but I felt compelled to set the record straight after seeing a few bad reviews. Dr. Korbar did absolutely the best job any dentist could have done. The level 9 pain I had this morning is now practically a zero. We really should be more thankful to people like him who don't take the easy route in life and spend far more years than us in school to provide an absolutely crucial service to us that most of us don't even bother to fully appreciate, and a select few actually come back to complain about. read more

I had a root canal with Dr. Naylor, after several months it turned out the tooth had gotten re-infected due to a crack on the tooth and bacteria reinfection. Now I must have the tooth removed and install an implant. The work done here was very unprofessional and I CANNOT recommend this practice. A root canal is a very important procedure, please go elsewhere to be in better hands. read more

I am a dentist who can chose any of several endo offices. These doctors have treated myself as well as a hundred of my patients over the years. All my patients have given them great reviews. You can imagine how important it is for me to refer to someone I can trust. I had a root canal treatment yesterday by Dr Kobachar which was painless and well done. Take this recommendation from a Dentist who knows. read more

I have only written 1 bad review in my life, because I know how hard business is, but I am compelled to write another now: On June 22, 2021 my 19 year old daughter went into Carmel Valley Endodontics with tooth pain, because her normal dentist was out of town. Carmel Valley Endodontics ran an Oral Evaluation and took a CBCT 3 D Xray, then told her she needed a Root Canal, which they could conveniently do right then. Fortunately, she was skeptical of their diagnosis and recommendation for the expensive, invasive, and painful root canal procedure, so she declined and sought out other opinions. She went to 2 other doctors who evaluated her issue and told her she did not need a root canal and that her pain would subside after using some mouthwash for a week or two - which she did - and the pain went away. No surgery, No Root Canal, and today she still has her healthy 19 year old tooth. When I told Carmel Valley Endodontics about this, and presented the other Doctor's written evaluations to them, Carmel Valley Endo's response was "Dr. Naylor is extremely confident with the diagnosis and feels the root canal was and is still necessary". And this was after I told them that she was healed up and pain free, with no root canal work done. Long story short - Trust is a big issue when you are vulnerable / in pain, and based on how they treated my daughter I wouldn't trust this group. read more

I had two root canals here about 4 and 5 years ago after my dentist at the time referred me, and they are both still very pain free and stable. I recently needed another root canal, but have since moved to LA, and while my LA experience has been good so far, I still would have loved to have been able to return to Carmel Valley Endo. Time to write a well deserved review. I believe I had Naylor for one and Korbar for the other, and both were equally well done. I had some lingering pain for a couple of weeks after both root canals and came in a few times just to get a follow up look on the teeth, and the doctor and office staff were always very patient and found conservative solutions to helping with my pain as the teeth settled. I remember the diagnosis process was also very conservative and everyone explained everything well. Would absolutely recommend. read more

Going in for a root canal re -treatment today I was very nervous as I don't like root canals I've had some bad experiences in the past with a couple of not so nice Endodontists past couple of years. But not Today , I got a old root canal re -treated today by Dr. Korbar he is very nice, funny and calm, that made me feel more at ease . Dr. Korbar Explains everything he will be doing to you in a calm manner so you won't freak out. His assistant was very friendly too she took my x rays and got me ready. They made sure I was comfortable so I got a blanket placed on me and I listened to my fav. music on some headphones as he worked on me so that was pretty neat. Nothing really hurt it went by fast and pain free. He knows what he's doing! :) For any further dental work like this I will come only here. friendly staff and professional! Thank you! read more

I was referred here by my regular dentist and had been in pretty bad pain by the time my appointment rolled around. They scheduled me ASAP and Stacy was super helpful with my insurance details. Super helpful as in I gave her the wrong type of insurance initially and she didn't make a big deal of it. They're so good about explaining what is about to happen and what may happen. Dr. Korbar did my actual root canal and he was quick and professional. In my book, quick and professional is what you want in this scenario. I honestly can't think of one bad thing to say about this office. Nobody enjoys a root canal, but if you gotta get it done, do it here. I don't review often and they did not ask me to write this in any way. read more

My root canal done by my dentist went bad after 10 years. Infection. My dentist said it may not be savable. He recommended Torrey Pines Micro Endodontics (TPME). TPME said that there is no possible way to save the tooth. Extraction is the only option. I then went to Carmel Valley Endodontics (CVE) for a second opinion. Dr. K at CVE said there is an 80% chance they could fix it. I wanted to save the tooth, and with an 80% chance, I went ahead with a second root canal treatment from CVE. After a month, the infection came back. I then went to a highly regarded oral surgeon. He said I need an extraction and he would not have recommended the second root canal retreatment. My wife also had a root canal done here. They said to call if there were any problems. She called back with pain. The only advice she received was from the receptionist. After all of the receptionist's advice did not work, she asked to see the endodontist. The receptionist kept declining and ultimately said that since the root canal had already been done, there's nothing else the endodontist (Dr. K) could do, so there would be no reason to see him. My wife ended up going to her dentist to check on the pain from Dr. K's root canal. read more

I wish I could give more stars! Our 25 year old son was assaulted and needed a root canal. We knew this would be a daunting task but the ENTIRE staff was fantastic, from the office to Dr. Korbar. They made our son feel so comfortable! They recommended a anesthesiologist (Dr. Keith Reid) who was fantastic also. The entire process was seamless and they spent plenty of time addressing our chatterbox son's (and our) questions and concerns. We would recommend this office to anyone! read more

If I could give more than 5 stars I would! If your in need of a good Dentist/ Endodontics - Dr. Kobar at Carmel Valley Endodontics is the place to go!! We've all had those horror stories about awful dentists. My last two dental experiences at other places were the reason I have put my "problem tooth" on the back burner. Needless to say, I couldn't take the pain any longer! I had an appointment for later on in the week for my dentist, then after a night with little to no sleep because of the pain, my dentist got me in same day. I get there and after several X-rays, she explains my tooth cracked in 3-4 areas, part of my filling has come out and my nerves are exposed!! She refers me to Carmel Valley Endodontics for same day appointment. I just had a full root canal and have zero complaints! His staff is so pleasant and Dr. Kobar numbed me so well I didn't feel a thing! Thoroughly impressed! Knowledgeable, steady hands, explained everything beforehand. I was in and out in less than an hour and half!! Thought I'd share my experience just in case any of you were in need! He's your guy read more

This is where you need to go if you need a root canal. If you suffer from anxiety, this is the perfect office for you. If you need nitrous they have it available. My anxiety is so bad that I actually started to cry in the parking lot before my appointment. I was so scared. The second I walked in the office doors I felt relief, almost like I was hypnotized into tranquility. Dr. Naylor and his staff are amazing. They were so caring. They made me feel comfortable and I felt very relaxed even before the nitrous was administered. I put my headphones in, blasted my music and felt relief knowing I was being taken care of so well. In retrospect, the nitrous might have been unnecessary because the way Dr. Naylor and his staff treated me just put me at ease. I had my root canal yesterday and I had zero pain after. I took one dose of OTC Motrin immediately following my appointment just in case there was pain when the novocaine wore off. It is 24 hours later and I am still pain free. If you are looking for an endodontist, look no further. This is were you need to go. I can't thank Dr. Naylor and his staff enough. read more

I've had 2 root canals preformed by Dr Naylor. Each time the Dr was professional and fully explained everything to me. I ask a lot of questions and I wasn't rushed at all. The front office staff was great, and the Dr assistant worked well with him. There was plenty of parking, and the office was very nice and clean. Root canals suck, but I was able to get in quickly, and was taken care of. The first root canal was a re-treatment of a root canal that my general dentist attempted. Very grateful to have found this office with thanks to fellow Yelpers. Having had two root canals and a crown on my front teeth by previous practitioners over the years, I am always apprehensive when I go to the dentist. During a recent routine visit I was made aware of the fact that one of my precious front teeth might need retreatment of the root canal or perhaps even an extraction. Needless to say, neither option sounded good and I was panicked at the thought of more work done to my pearl whites that I have already invested so much time and money into. Anyway, I called this office and was able to get a same day appt, thanks Autumn! They made sure to check into my insurance and were very up front about the out of pocket costs. I showed up to my appt and was given a handy tablet to use to fill out my new patient paperwork. Their office is located in a very nice professional building on the second floor with ample parking in the lot behind it. Their lobby was super clean and had a pretty fish tank, they also had water, coffee, and mini chapsticks available (endodontist party favors, woo hoo)!!! I was promptly taken back to the exam chair and my history and concerns were reviewed by the technician Nicole. She proceeded to let me know that the best way for them to see the proper course of action would be to perform a CT scan. She mentioned that this isn't usually covered by insurance, which Autumn had told me on our initial call, I really appreciated this mention again to avoid any potential surprises. Very nice of them to be extra super transparent! Anyway, the best part of the visit was when Dr. Naylor came over, listened to my concerns very patiently, reviewed the CT scan and confidently told me that I actually don't need any treatment at all despite what I had been told elsewhere. Turns out the area of concern was not concerning at all and rather a leftover artifact from a previous root canal. I scurried out of there with a huge smile and carried on to enjoy the day. Now, I realize they probably don't get to make people's days like they did for me all that often. However, based on the interaction I had with them, I would have no hesitation to return should I need future work and I will absolutely recommend them to my family and friends. Thanks for being such an awesome office! read more

I was referred to this dentist by my primary dentist for one of my children's procedures. When initially discussing an appointment with their staff my primary concern was my out of pocket expense, she agreed to research and get back to me. When she got back to me she said there would be no charge to me, but provided no specifics as to the total costs since I would not have to pay anything out of pocket; so I agreed to the appointment and scheduled it. When my son was in the chair starting the procedure the office staff called me to collect a payment. I explained to them that I was told no payment would be due based on what their staff had told me. They refused to budge and demanded payment and became belligerent. They even threatened to send me to collections the following day if I didnt pay now. This is classic bait and switch, car sales BS; and then they bully and intimidate while your child is supposed to be receiving a treatment they agreed to provide. read more

Extremely unethical--brought my elderly Mom with an infected root canal, and after a big payment and a redone canal, ended up with a bigger infection and a broken tooth. According to the dentist, it was not his fault the tooth broke, he just "followed" the canal sideways almost to the edge of the tooth. I am not an expert, but drilling that close to the edge of the tooth probably had to do something with it. The worst part was hearing him say: "We can try to do something about it, but it will cost more money". People like this should not be caring about patients. read more
