My initial experience left me frustrated, and I had given a negative review. However, after…read morereceiving a personal call from Dr. Lim, I've changed my perspective. His treatment itself was excellent, and I truly appreciate the care I received. Unfortunately, the billing process was disappointing. During my root canal removal, I was told by the staff that the consultation fee would be covered by my insurance. I paid the remaining amount--over a thousand dollars--and thought everything was settled. A few weeks later, I received a call from the office stating that I now owed the consultation fee, which was frustrating since I was previously told it would be covered. I was later informed that the issue stemmed from an incorrect billing code being submitted. Understandably, this left me feeling uneasy. What changed everything was a call I received today from Dr. Lim himself. He apologized sincerely for the confusion and explained that he is working to improve the system to avoid these kinds of issues in the future. His call showed me that he genuinely cares about his patients and their experience--not just medically, but holistically. Because of that conversation, I now feel confident recommending Dr. Lim. He is a skilled provider who takes responsibility and makes the effort to improve. That level of care matters.

He referred me to the "girls" at RB Endodontics just up the street who were able to see me the very same day. I decided I wanted to save the tooth, and in two visits the root canal was complete. I want to thank everyone involved...from Aishah at the front desk, to Camille, the most kind, friendly, and personable dental assistant...and Dr. Dyana Eidelstein for providing a really excellent pain-free experience and, what I expect will be, a durable repair of the tooth.

Negative Crown Replacement Experience and Billing Issue…read more As a first-time patient, I came to this office to proactively replace a partially damaged crown. The affected tooth was asymptomatic (no pain/sensitivity) beforehand. Following the temporary crown fitting during the first visit, and then after the final new crown fitting later, I experienced persistent pain and discomfort that did not subside. Given my past positive experience with multiple successful crowns by other dentists, this outcome was unexpected and I lost confidence in this dentist quickly, especially after this issue necessitated a subsequent unexpected root canal and implant for the same tooth by other dental professionals. Furthermore, as I believed I was overcharged for the crown replacement, I filed a formal complaint with my dental insurance, and after their review of the bill, I was able to secure a $673 refund.

I've been going to this dentist for more than a year, since my old dentist's office went maskless…read moreand it seemed safer here (everyone wears masks except patients while they're getting cleanings or work). Michelle at the reception desk is extremely nice, and I *love* Irina the hygienist. I went to a different hygienist here at first who was less gentle and who told me that she thought I needed sedation dentistry to get through the deep cleaning Dr. Maggie Abadan recommended. But when it was time to get it, Irina was my hygienist, and assured me that she didn't think I needed to be sedated at all. She is extremely kind and gentle, and she has also inspired me to be more religious about flossing as well as using an interdental brush. I wish she worked more days! She helps me take much better care of my gums. My spouse is coming here now too. At first we were not sure whether we needed all the treatments being suggested - sometimes that's something a new dentist does to rake in $$. But it seems that we both needed what Dr. Maggie was suggesting, because of the state of our gums and because my husband had put off some treatments for a while. Dr. Maggie works carefully and so does her daughter (only my husband has gone to her - I've only seen Dr. Maggie). They also take Delta Dental here. I see that some people complained about billing, but they've explained it pretty well to me. Yes, if you do deep cleaning, Delta doesn't cover the laser on all the quadrants, but if you have periodontal disease it seems to be a good idea. And the cost of getting a ceramic crown over metal was also explained to me and I was able to choose. I'm just doing regular maintenance now during my every-3-month cleanings. Today was just $19 on top of what Delta covers for a regular cleaning with some deep-cleaning irrigation. I was bummed today that there were 3 people in the waiting room without masks. At the grocery store or anywhere else, if other folks are not masked, I can keep my mask on and still have some protection! But the dentist is the place I'm most vulnerable, since I have no choice but to take mine off. They said today there were special circumstances for one of the people without masks, but I'd like to see them enforce masking consistently, even if gently. I don't want to have to switch dentists and I've felt safe here before today. If this matters to you and you're considering coming here, please ask!

I would give this office zero stars if Yelp allowed it…read more I am writing this review to strongly encourage people to think twice before going to this office. They advertise that they accept dental insurance, but based on our experience, it appears that this may simply to bring patients into the office, after which they present them with extremely high treatment costs. My wife and I went there for our first visit. They examined my wife and gave her a treatment plan totaling more than $12,000. They also examined me and gave me a treatment plan totaling more than $5,500. We immediately noticed that the charges seemed unusually high compared with other dental offices. For example, our estimated out-of-pocket cost for a crown was more than $1,400, even after the insurance contribution. They claimed my wife needed 8 crowns. Because some of the recommended services seemed questionable to us, I asked Amy, the staff member handling the treatment plan, to submit it to our insurance company for pre-authorization. Her reaction was extremely upsetting and uncomfortable. She became upset and accused us of not trusting her. She asked, "What do you want the insurance to tell you? I have all the numbers." I explained that I simply wanted the insurance company to confirm how much we would actually be responsible for paying and whether the recommended services were covered or considered necessary. That is when we were surprised by her response. She told us that whatever the insurance company said would not matter because "our charges are our charges." She also said that even if the insurance company determined that a service was not necessary, we could not simply pick and choose which services we wanted. She added that we were the first people who had ever asked her for pre-authorization. The entire conversation felt very uncomfortable and intimidating. About two weeks later, I returned to the office for a cleaning that was included in my treatment plan. Once again, Amy became upset and intimidating when I told her that I did not want the antibiotic and irrigation service, which would have cost me an additional $95. She told me that it was already included in the treatment plan I had signed. I explained that signing a treatment plan does not mean that I agreed to receive every service listed on it. I told her that I only wanted to be charged for the services that were actually performed. I also asked whether they had received a response from the insurance company regarding the pre-authorization for my wife. I was told that they had not and that it could take four to six weeks. My wife was understandably very concerned about what she had been told about her teeth. We therefore requested copies of the X-rays taken at this office and took them to another dentist for a second opinion. This dentist does not even accept our insurance, and we paid $95 out of pocket for the consultation because we wanted an independent opinion. The second dentist's assessment was completely different. We were told that the services listed in the $12,000+ treatment plan were not needed, according to that dentist's evaluation. I specifically pointed out some of the teeth where the first office had told us that my wife had cavities, and the second dentist told us that he did not see cavities in those teeth. The only significant treatment he recommended was that a root canal performed previously by a different dentist should be redone because there appeared to be an infection. So, after seeking a completely independent second opinion, we were left with the impression that more than $12,000 worth of proposed dental treatment was unnecessary. I cannot speak for anyone else's experience, but I can tell you what happened to us. The combination of the extremely high treatment costs, the pressure we experienced when questioning the charges, and the completely different opinion from another dentist left us extremely concerned. Please do yourself a favor and get a second opinion before agreeing to a large treatment plan here. Do not feel pressured to accept every service simply because it appears on a treatment plan. Ask questions, ask for your X-rays, and verify the recommended treatment independently. It is extremely disappointing when patients feel that they cannot question the treatment or the charges without being made to feel uncomfortable or intimidated.
