Once again I had another fantastic Dentist appointment today with Dr. Joe. He is a very honest and passionate Dentist and does fantastic work. Today I went in for a broken crown that was covering an implant I had done 10 years ago. Unfortunately the crown broke and he was able to offer me a great consultation and referral to the best Implant Dentist in the county to have the post removed so he can make a new crown with his great in house technology. By doing this it saves extra cost and time having an outside service do the crown that can often take many weeks. I would recommend Dr Joe Nguyen to anyone looking for professional honest Dentist!! Based on all the other reviews, I found Dr. Joe. His office is clean, with ample parking in front and behind. Masha and Jennifer were both really friendly and patient. All the dental hygienists I've had were great. Dr. Joe is able to make many kinds of night guards through his office, and he was really excited to show me one that is so durable that a car can drive over it haha. Hoping he does not retire for awhile :D The only thing that is confusing is that there is another dentist with almost the exact same name in Poway. Make sure to read the address very carefully when plugging into GPS! read more

Simply put, this incredible team has fixed my lifelong fear of the dentist with ease. Up until now, past experiences have caused me to dread dental visits of any kind -- whether it was a simple cleaning or a more involved procedure, I hated it all the same. This team operates like none I've ever seen however. With clear communication and care, you're never left wondering what's coming next, and the feeling of "what the heck are they doing in there?" never occurs. His office keeps up with the latest treatments, he and his staff are all extremely personal. Dr. Nguyen never tries to upsell you with procedures you don't need. Dr. Joe Nguyen and his friendly and professional staff took excellent care of my daughter and me! We had our routine check-up and I also had to get 2 fillings replaced (from a previous bad dentist!). The staff scheduled our visits so that there was minimal waiting time. Upon arrival, Dr. Joe and his staff greeted us and quickly took us to our respective rooms. I had my filings done while my daughter had her teeth cleaned, then I had my teeth cleaned. Dr. Joe explained every step as he was working on my fillings. He did a great job and was finished in no time. While I laid back in my seat, I noticed a TV in the ceiling, which was pretty cool. WARNING: There is another dentist named Joe Nguyen in the area. If you walk into the office and it doesn't look like this one, leave! Look up in the ceiling in the waiting room, there are lighted tiles with "fish swimming." If you don't see this, you went to the other Joe Nguyen and you need to leave! Finding a good dentist and dental hygienist is hard, and finding a great one even harder. Dr. Joe and his staff are exceptional! Dr. Joe cares about his patients and it shows in his interactions and conversations with us. Also, his attention to detail does not go unnoticed. I went in for a routine 6-month teeth cleaning. After the cleaning, the dentist checked my teeth and told me everything was good.The next day, my crown cracked and half of it fell off. When I returned to the office, the first thing they tried to do was take x-rays (which they did before the cleaning). When I mentioned that my insurance will not pay for another set of x-rays, then took me to another room and took photos. After the cleaning, the dentist told me it's a fluke and that I need a new crown. How is it that a perfectly fine crown cracks and falls off? read more

I have been going to Dr. Joe for several Years now after having horrible experiences with dentists prior to him. The main issue I would have is the dentist never being able to get me numb and I would always have to stop them while filling cavities. This caused extreme anxiety for me to visit a dentist and especially if I found out I needed any work done. To this day, I still can't help myself react when I hear the sound of any drill . However, Dr. Joe has been SO incredibly patient and kind each time I have needed a filling at making sure I am comfortable and most importantly not in pain. I also don't even feel it when he applies the numbing medicine either . That was something that actually didn't bother me in the past as I just begged to please give me "extra" To ensure I wouldn't feel any pain during the procedure. So not only do I not feel any pain during fillings but I don't during the numbing process either . I have had 4 or 5 fillings now by Dr. Joe and I've been SO grateful I found someone like him. I also have always had pleasant cleanings by all the hygienists and no issues whatsoever with scheduling or the office staff. He only tells you what you need done ( he is successful enough and unlike other dentists I've been too, other dentists always push me to root canals or fillings) 2. I left a message on their service and I got a call back before I left work asking if I could make it in today. I was scheduled last minute yet I don't think I waited more then 10 minutes to be seen. Oh, my gosh! Exactly the dental office I was looking for. I moved here from Point Loma four years ago and continued with my dentist in Point Loma until he retired. I tried one other dentist in Poway who told me I needed ten crowns. This is after just seeing her six months ago, when I only needed two cavities re-filled. I thought it was strange that my teeth had deteriorated so much in just six months. So, I called Dr. Joe's office and luckily, they were accepting new patients. They told me that I didn't need any of my crowns replaced. They took on the process of crowning my two front teeth that Dr. Gorin had started. When I first visited Dr. Joe, I arrived with a horrible temporary crown on my two front teeth, and I brought along the permanent crowns that Dr. Gorin had ordered. The conclusion was that the permanent crowns were good, but not perfect. I was more than willing to pay out of pocket for Dr.Joe to order new permanent crowns. He created a new temporary crown for me which took a lot of time and patience. It was so much better than the temporary crown that Dr. Gorin made. Dr.Joe took the time to polish the crown so that it fell normal. Dr. Joe runs a perfect practice. If you are looking for a dentist for the rest of your life, this is the place to go! read more

This is the dentist you should see. I found Dr. Joe years ago and he has been the best dentist of my life. I wanted to do a full mouth restoration with veneers on all teeth. He talked me out of this, even though he would have made a ton more money. Joe felt it would be unethical to do all my teeth because they are strong and healthy. He had me do 6 months of ortho first so that I would only need to do 12 veneers. The results are in, and I look FANTASTIC. Even though I have a completely different smile, I don't look like a politician or sportscaster. Completely natural. You would have no idea my smile is reconstructed. He is meticulous, thoughtful, and highly skilled. A true artist. This is the dentist I would recommend to my mom. read more

I just had another with this outstanding dental office. I had previously been diagnosed with having a small cavity. Not a big deal? It was at the bottom of where an existing crown was. I made my appointment to have those issues resolved which meant removing the old crown, fixing the cavity and then have a new crown installed. These steps were all done on site in one visit and with a new dentist that has joined their team. Dr. Troy has just as good of a chair side manner as Dr Joe only different, you know, in a good way. So besides the usual professional and personal service I always get from the others in the office like Jennifer, Marsha and I swear a new dental assistant today, Elanor. She assisted Dr Troy in todays procedures from start to finish with no issues or oh oh's. You can't go wrong if you need long term, full spectrum dental care and service , or one time service I suppose. read more

Very impressed with the quality and efficiency of service! I am a new patient of Dr. Nguyen and recently had a crown and 2 fillings taken care of in one appointment. Dr. Nguyen used state of the art tools to create the crown after which he skillfully shaped and adjusted it for the perfect fit. He also expertly completed 2 fillings, clearing the decay as part of the process. Arrived this morning to the appointment and apparently as of today they are no longer in-network with our insurance. They have been open for the past 2 hours so not sure why we couldn't have received a call prior to me driving down there. I just got home after my appointment, and I need to write this review before I forget! I had the best experience today, and am very happy I found Dr. Nguyen on Yelp. At first, I was hesitant to visit the dentist due to COVID, but when I called the staff to schedule, they patiently explained all the protocol they're going through to ensure staff and patients are safe. I waited in the car, my temperature was taken before my appointment and everyone was wearing adequate PPE. They also have these special vacuum/vent things during cleaning to gather any particles. Dr. Nguyen was very thorough, and my hygienist Marian was legitimately the best hygienist I've ever had! She was so thorough, and gentle. When I left, my teeth felt cleaner than they've ever felt leaving an appointment. I highly recommend this office, and I'm so glad I found them. If you have any hesitations to visit during COVID, call them and I'm sure they'll put you at ease! read more

All staff at this office are so warm and welcoming. They don't rush you through your visit and are genuinely trying to keep you looped in on findings throughout your visit. A big fear I have when going to dental offices is when they try to sell you unnecessary dental care and/or when they over charge you and your insurance. Not here! Everyone from the lovely front desk personnel, Dental Hygienist, to Dr. Joe were so happy to see me and never tried to get me to over pay or get services I did not need. I went back the next day to take care of some fillings that were incorrectly filled at a different dental office, and I was treated with the same kindness and thorough care. I really like how they take photos of the areas that need care and the dental hygienist and Dr. Joe will show you and take time to teach you what a cavity looks like or what inconsistencies they find.
