Let me preface this review by saying that I have a totally rational fear of dentists. My previous dentists have been nothing short of awful and it took me a long time to find a reputable business. I will admit, I try to take relatively good care of my teeth, but obviously, annual visits are a must for everyone, not matter how meticulous you try to be in caring for your teeth. So needless to say, it took me years to get over my fear and just find a solid professional. Dr. Anita Verma is the absolute BEST! When I tell you how gentle Dr. Verma is, that is a massive understatement. I didn't even know dentists were capable of being gentle if I'm being honest. I actually look forward to going to the dentist now that I am under her care. She constantly asks if you are okay throughout your cleanings and explains all her findings in detail. My husband also raves about Dr. Verma as he has a difficult time with cleanings, so she positioned him in a way that made it easier for him to manage in the chair. They also recommended an oral surgeon to him who also had equally stellar service. I also love that they do not upsell their services but simply make recommendations. I'm due to go back soon for a crown (my very first one) and I am not in the least bit terrified like I would normally be going to another dentist. 5 incredible, shiny stars! read more

Dr. Verma is the true dentist that every dentist is supposed to be, but is almost impossible to find nowadays. My dentist, whom I had trusted for years, retired, and my whole family became nomads. I finally gave up and went to a dentist recommended by one of my friends, only to be told that a tooth in the back was severely decayed and needed to be extracted. I panicked. "What about a root canal? I don't even have any pain!" He told me I didn't need that far-back tooth, with no explanation for why there was no pain. I left and looked for another dentist for a second opinion. I found Dr. Verma on Yelp. Her rating was great, and the reviews themselves felt genuine. Through my search, I learned how to read Yelp reviews about dentists: ignore reviews about how nice the office is or how friendly the staff is. I don't want a rude dentist, but a nice office? I'm not staying at a hotel. I also don't care about top-of-the-line machines -- dentists take out huge loans for those, and they tend to upsell unnecessary treatments. I'm also cautious about young dentists: they have loans to pay back, which often means higher quotes, and they don't yet have the long-term experience to see how their treatments hold up over time. I tried to find Dr. Verma's website, but she doesn't have one -- which suggested to me that she doesn't need one to attract patients. I was convinced she must be the one. She examined the tooth and told me it didn't need to be extracted yet. She even said she might be able to save it without a root canal. She was upfront that she couldn't guarantee anything until she opened the tooth, but she gave me hope. In the end, she saved my tooth! She also cleans teeth herself . I have never met another dentist who does that. Now my entire family sees her. She is a doctor who genuinely wants you to have good health and keep your teeth for a long time. There are far too many dentists who act like car salespeople. If you're looking for a real dentist, she is the one. Her dental office is called Stowe Plaza Dental, and she shares the space with another dentist. I think he is great too. read more

We have used Dr. Anita Verma for many years now and have recommended her to several friends that also switched to her and are very happy there. Big difference to all the other Dentists we have been before that want to charge you for something else every time you go and tell you, you need this or that done. etc.... Dr. Verma is all about patient care and educating you about dental care etc.. so your teeth and gums stay healthy or become healthy again. She also does the teeth cleaning herself so it is done properly. We can highly recommend Dr. Anita Verma and her staff. Thank you, Dr. Verma for providing such excellent care. read more

Dr. Anita Verma is extremely professional, kind and efficient in her care. She does the cleaning herself. She does not recommend unnecessary procedures. Disclosure: My friend who referred me to this office is related to Dr. Verma. My only regret is that I didn't come to Dr. Verma sooner. I can't say enough good things about her. Although I have to drive 30 minutes to get to her, it is totally worth it to have a dentist who you can trust. I work in the medical field and I really appreciate that Dr. Verma takes a lot of time to thoroughly explain anything and everything I have questions about. I have never had a dentist take out a pad of paper and start drawing a tooth and the mechanism of the disease processes that she thinks is going on. I also know she is not just doing this for me because I am in the medical field because I saw her throw away some of the previous diagrams she had sketched out for a previous patient. I absolutely LOVE that she wants her patients to be educated so that they can make good decisions about their health. I hope that more people in health care would do this for their patients. She is also great about really trying to come to an appropriate diagnosis for her patients. I had unexplained tooth pain that she didn't have a perfect explanation for. After having a lengthy discussion for me, we had a few theories, but nothing for sure. While it would have been perfectly appropriate to leave things at that, she took the time to call in the other dentist in the office to also take a look at me. They spent several minutes together discussing their theories on what could be going on. I was impressed by the dynamics in the office that the other dentist who had no obligation to me would take the time to try to help me out with no additional financial incentive. Another example of her devotion to taking excellent care of her patients is when she gave me a call back about a concern that I had. I called the office concerned about my permanent retainer coming loose, which admittedly is more of an orthodontic issue but I haven't seen my orthodontist in years. I spoke with Annie at the front desk, who by the way is also very friendly and helpful. She let me know Dr. Verma was busy but would do her best to get back to me. I expected to hear back in the next few hours, but I actually got a call back within 10 minutes. Dr. Verma was very patient on the phone with me and addressed all my concerns. I could give more antidotes about how Dr. Verma is amazing, but I think my above examples illustrate her character. She is not only warm and friendly, but also extremely competent and dedicated to taking excellent care of her patients. read more

Dr Verma has great knowledge of dental science and will gladly explain everything in detail to you before doing any work. She is very straight, direct and honest, addressed all of my concerns, and I would trust her with any dental work. I had a root canal, fillings and crowns done and all were done expertly and expediently and at a fair price. Plus she is a native San Diegan, very friendly and also very good with children. I started seeing Dr. Anita Verma almost two years ago after being disappointed with my previous dentist... and am extremely pleased with the experience. Dr. Verma goes above and beyond the general dentist experience, making you feel very comfortable with her calm manner, plus teaching and explaining the whole way through the process, so you not only feel really comfortable but you also learn how to better care for your teeth. The office is clean, friendly and not pretentious. She is so great that I have sent my boyfriend and daughter to her as well. I cannot say enough about how much we love Dr. Verma! I have had some really bad experiences with the dentist and now I even look forward to my cleanings. Dr. Verma and her staff are so patient and thorough and they have helped me and my husband improve our oral health. When we first started going to her, she didn't accept our dental insurance so she went through the application process just so she could take us on as patients! Dr. Verma is the best dentist I have ever been to and I've been to many over the past 45 years. She does excellent work and gives excellent advice (teaches). She is so thorough and gentle with her exams. Her staff is both professional and caring. And there is little or no waiting when arriving on time for your appointment. I referred my husband, then my brother, his wife and my 85 year old mother. They are all soooo pleased with the care they received. In fact, my brother had not been to a dentist for 35 years (since a kid), not even for a tooth cleaning. He was scared of going but had reached a point of being more scared for not going. It took a couple of appointments just to clean his teeth and Dr.Verma was able to save his teeth and gums. He thanked me for the referral and had a very positive experience with her. I am 99.9% positive that anyone who uses her services will be pleased with the results. In addition, the area is in a nice corner "strip mall" with easy parking, "reward food" (I'm usually hungry after a dental appointment), and is close to CostCo and Home Depot off of Scripps Poway Parkway. Don't hesitate to make an appointment! read more
