I had a very unfortunate experience attempting to schedule a new patient appointment. I was told the earliest they had was 2 months from the date I called,which I did accept. I then received results of xrays done by my previous dentist which made it quite urgent to have the exam. I had been in touch with Cora and had sent in the forms she requested previously. I attempted to call and email the office and finally got through and was told that there were no openings but by chance they might have 3 cancellations the next day and she would call if confirmed. Which did not happen. She also claimed that she responded to my emails. Which did not happen except to say thank you for sending paperwork in. It seems to me that they are not able to take new patients which I can understand but there was no need to mislead me by claiming she responded to emails and suddenly might have openings which did not happen. read more

I have been a patient there along with my family for over 10 years. I've moved and looked for other dentists near by. Every time I think ok, this is it, I am proven wrong. I wish they had weekend hours or late days but I'd rather take the time off, drive the long drive, and know I'm in excellent hands. I learned my lesson. I've known Dr. Andrada's wife's family for decades. And for a while, I put off going to him just to be fair to the other dental practices in the area. I shouldn't have wasted my time looking! Dr. Andrada and his wife, Cora, the lead hygenist, have a great practice. The customer service is very professional and organized with scheduling. He is up on his technology and his knowledge. You can actually see digital x-rays of your teeth and it gets stored in your file. Also, he has your visit recorded on the computer with any changes or observations to your teeth. Cora is accurate and fast with cleaning. You're in and out in less than 45 minutes. Before you know it, your teeth are squeaky clean and you're smiling out off the office. read more

I went in as a new patient today (made appointment) to get a cleaning and have x-rays taken. Cora (sp?), my dental hygienist was so friendly and nice. She wasn't hard on my teeth at all and my teeth feel amazing right now! Usually they feel kind of gritty and weird but i can't stop feeling my teeth right now. She is awesome! Dr.Andrada is really friendly too. He did these feel checks on my teeth and clamp of my teeth I suppose, I'm not sure I didn't ask. He told me things about my teeth that I have never even heard before. My previous dentist would always push me to do certain things cosmetically and made me feel like I was going to break the bank doing it. They would always try to sell me whatever products there were using. Dr.Andrada and Cora educated me on what's causing what, and why my teeth are a certain way. They let me know what options I have if I chose to correct them. I don't know if I'm behind on technology or they're more advanced but they had immediate x-rays on their screen as soon as they took x-rays. I was really impressed. The front desk receptionist were really information and nice as well. They really educated me on my options and also my insurance so I understand how it would work. I have a hard time understanding insurance policies and kept asking a lot of questions. She was able to answer and help me through everything. Overall, great experience and 5 minutes away from home is a plus! I would highly recommend. read more

Dr. Andrada Changes Your Opinion of Dentists! Before I tell you about Dr. Andrada, allow me to tell you that I hate dentists and I believe the majority of them are obnoxious, arrogant, sleazebags and charlatans. They are cheap salesmen with cheap sales-pitches. There is not a single trace of humanity, continence and medical integrity in their bodies. I am a certified "Anti Dentite" (Seinfeld)! Remember that episode? What a riot! I had horrible past experiences with dentists. After my many failures choosing a decent dentist, finally I was about to give up! I stopped going to dentists for a year and a half. I considered dentists as a bunch of low lives, con artists and quick to get rich bandits. Finally I decided to draft my expertise as a journalist and do a vast research to find a decent dentist. Is it truly possible that there exists a human dentist rather than the usual weasels (I asked myself)? After a lengthy research, amazingly I found this dentist which I could not find any dirt on him on the Internet! I tried and I tried to find some dirt on him but everything said about him was good! All I found was great reviews about him! How can this be (I asked myself)?! Can this be the guy? So at last with much hesitation I took an appointment for me and my tail (Little Princess which follows me around the globe, around the country, around the town, in doctor's offices, in the shower and even at the physical and in the bathroom)! So finally my 4 year old Persian Princess and I dropped by his office and there I had my 1st human experience with a dentist! Close Encounter of the 3rd Kind indeed! Was this guy really a dentist or an extra terrestrial?! I could not believe it. Dr. Walter Andrada (Dentist) and his wife Cora (Hygienist) have been operating the shop for 16 years. They live in PQ (Rancho Penasquitas) and working in PQ for 16 years. They raised 3 kids in PQ, they have ties to the community and they have been a part of the community for 16 years. Kathy (Assistant) who is a renaissance woman has been with them for 15 years. Kathy does everything from secretarial job, to dental assistant to X Rays to computers and more. I think the only thing Kathy does not do is fixing the roof and plumbing! Maria (Front Desk Administrator) is extremely helpful and professional on and off the phone. Everything is done high tech via website and e-mails. Forms can be filled up online and sent via e-mails. Walter is such a gentleman, knowledgeable, up-to-date on the field of dentistry, warm and pleasant. Cora is such a lady, great in her field and concern about the patients. So are the rest of the crew in the office. They do not try to play the roles of the pushy salesmen and sell you services and products. They will explain to you, your options and then you decide what you want to do. My 4 year old is a high tech princess owning 3 computers, so they handed her an I Pad to play with. She could sit outside or inside different offices watching and learning what they were doing. This was her 1st dentist experience and she was preparing herself for a nightmare but instead at the end she told me: "I like this dentist". They played with her, entertained her, answered her questions, taught her good information on how to take care of her teeth and showed her new tricks on dental hygiene. So we got our X Rays, cleaning and exam and during the procedures, I had a short chat with Walter and a long chat with Cora. I am a good judge of characters and I often can speak 5 minutes with someone and comprehend where he or she is coming from. In the past I have tolerated dentists out of necessity and I ended up fighting with almost all of them. Now I do not have to tolerate them out of necessity but going to dentist will be like going to visit neighbors, friends and good old folks. These guys go out of their way to satisfy you. The problem with dentists is that they want to get rich quick and due to this behavior they end up losing a great number of clients. They assume they are good businessmen! The reality is that they are disastrous dentists and horrible businessmen. The smart businessmen are Walter and Cora because instead of ripping people off, being pushy salesmen and treating people badly, instead they look at the long term scenario and they see the big picture. Walter and Cora treat you like neighbors and friends. You feel like part of the family. By drafting this tactic, they guarantee themselves a large group of faithful clientele remaining their patients for life. Yes it is true, dentists can be human too! Andradas surely impressed the hell out of me and if they could change the opinion of an obsessive, compulsive, perfectionist journalist such as me, then they can surely affect your opinion of the dentists. read more

I was very sorry to be treated badly at this office after going there for dental care for 14 years. When I arrived, the first thing they asked was, "Do you still not have dental insurance?" I have always paid my fees at the time of service, but was made to feel with no insurance, I was a less than desirable patient. I was then told if I did not agree to a full mouth set of x-rays that the Dentist would not be able to do an exam. I explained I could not afford the treatment, and they would not back down. In fact, they mentioned lots of people are trying to not get x-rays and they are not going to accept that. All of this was told to me loudly and forcefully in front of a waiting room full of people! I felt it was unprofessional and embarrassing for the front desk receptionist to talk about my personal finances and health care in this way. I honestly felt bullied. I think Dr. Andrada is a terrific practitioner, and so is his hygienist/wife Cora. I am sad that his front office staff are so intractable and unkind to a struggling patient. Not everyone can afford top tier treatment every six months. While I am sure that boosts this practice's bottom line, I was mistaken to believe this team was about more than profits. read more

I *LOVE* Dr. Andrada and the entire staff! For our duration there in San Diego our entire family of four came here for all dentistry needs and the first dentist for both of my kids. My son who is afraid of everyone does awesome with Kathy and Cora and Walter is just so gentle. I generally tend to try and get Cora and Kathy for myself and my daughter as well, and I believe my husband does too. So worth the drive of 60+ miles one way for our visits. The office is small and intimate, not like a revolving door with white walls, funky shaped and bright lights everywhere. Chair side manner of the staff are polite, courteous and knowledgeable. The office has high tech machines in place to make the visit efficient and they NEVER recommend a service that is unnecessary or unrealistic like some dentists do who are out there in greed, they take the preventative approach within appropriate time frames and will give you a honest answer if asked. We had to have 4 teeth extracted for my daughter, they were able to do it there in office, but suggested pursuing the oral surgeon route and provided referrals. Most DDS would not do this. Dr. Andrada's practice is one of few HONEST and GOOD practices that are left in this time. You can NOT go wrong with Dr. Andrada, as an adult, a child, senior or someone afraid of dentists...this is where you belong! read more

His staff is also very personable and professional, as well. I've never had an issue with the dental office. The office is in a small professional mall in the center of Rancho Penasquitos and yes the office is small compared to my last dentist. However, I don't mind the size it's actually rather cozy, not hospital feeling at all. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted right away and since most of my forms were done online, all I had to do was sign. Huge plus, I like this place :) The person that took xrays was super nice and made sure i was comfortable instead of jamming in those xrays wings that you have to bite down on. The person that cleaned my teeth was full of all sorts of dental hygiene tidbits. She informed me that she was "checking my pockets" and told me what that meant, etc. Then comes Dr. Andrada, he was super friendly (and it's no wonder the rest of his staff is also). He was able to dismiss any anxiety I had since t's been 2 years since I've been to a dentist. He gave me advice on what I should do with my wisdom teeth (they aren't impacting yet) and gave me an option about a retainer. But never once did I feel pressured into getting anything extra done. Nobody likes going to the dentist..you got hands in your mouth, sharp instruments, and a spit sucker then to top it off the dentist wants to hear your life story..... This is deffinetly NOT the case in Dr. Andrada's office! First off the whole office is paper-less..so when I called and scheduled the appt. I spoke with Kathy (the receptionist) She got me in right away (the next day actually) then she told me she would e-mail me a link to a website where I could fill out the necessary forms and it would electonically be sent back to her. SOOOOO COOL!!!! it took me 5 minutes to fill out the form and I didnt have to fill out a single thing when I got to the office. They took me back right away where I met Nadia. She took my X-rays (digitally) and cleaned my teeth, she was really sweet and very efficient..she explained everything she was doing before she did it which made me feel comfortable..Next I met Dr. Andrada who introduced himself as Walter...He was super nice and extremely personable. He told me I didnt have any cavitys (YAAAY!) and that my teeth were very healthy! I left with a goody bag and a beautiful clean smile! Going to the dentist can be scary, but in Dr. Andrada's office they put you right at ease. Im actually looking forward to going back in 6 months for another cleaning! read more

I went to Dr Andrata for years, and was pleased with his service until I had a throbbing root canal problem. He insisted it was merely me biting down too hard while I was sleeping. I even bought a $300 mouth guard from him. (It was not covered by my insurance,) Long story short, after 6 month the pain was still a problem. It was only then that I was sent to an endodondist who discovered not just one new root canal problem, but a previous one had been done poorly. Only one of 2 roots on the tooth had been excavated. I never received an apology for the missed diagnosis, or any compensation for the useless mouthguard, my time, and pain. I was very disappointed, so much so that I am now going to a new dentist. read more

Being a Navy wife, I've bounced around quite a bit to different dentists. I think I've had the worst cleaning ever and now the best. The worst was definitely by a hygenist when we were stationed in Japan. Needless to say, I waited to get back to the states for my next cleaning. For a while now, I've been searching for a good dentist. I was referred to Dr. Andrada by a friend and will never change. The office is small and everyone is very friendly. The hygenists are thorough and are constantly telling you what they are doing or going to do and what to expect. Everything from Xrays to appts is digital. Dr. Andrada is very friendly, professional and thorough. I've had to come in for tooth pain that ultimately turned into a root canal and they were great about working me into their schedule. Dr. Andrada is an awesome dentist. My family has been seeing him for about 5 years. My kids love him (and they are hard to please). He never recommends services you don't need (like some dentists we've seen), and he will refer you to specialists instead of trying to do it all. He and his staff are very friendly and straightforward but at the same time efficient (we never have to wait more than 10 or 15 minutes...and this is the exception not the rule).
