Natalie, my hygienist is the BOMB! I am a redhead which is a small population of a group of people that have a challenging time getting numb at the dentist. We also need more anesthesia during surgeries thanks to our MC1R gene. I have woken up in the middle of surgeries which is never a good thing! I needed a deep cleaning of my gums as I have pockets and my gums have receded. Natalie, also a redhead understood my anxiety as I needed many shots of Novocain to complete this task. I have horrific past experiences from many years ago when dentists have drilled into my teeth to fill a cavity and refused to give me the numbing medication I needed. I sat in the chair and cried during the pain. Natalie was very patient with me. She took the time to make sure I was comfortable and numb throughout both cleanings. I am not going to lie..I needed MANY shots to complete this task and yes..they hurt. but she was understanding, very patient and a total sweetheart. I was referred to Dr. Khansari by my dentist, & it also helped that one of the office's dental hygienists was seeing him for the same thing because she gave a glowing recommendation. Terrific and well organized office. And Dr. Khansari is extremely nice and skilled. Who wants to have a tooth extraction and implant? Not me! But it turned out I had a tooth that could not be saved. My dentist sent me here. One note is that if you are Covid conscious and want to make sure everyone around you is masking when you have to take yours off, please let them know in advance. That way they will schedule you for a private room instead of a chair out in the open. But once they know that they are very respectful. Getting an extraction and implant takes several visits over several months. But they were very organized and Dr. Khansari's work seems great. They gave me twilight sedation for the extraction, which turned out to have been important because it was complicated and I had an infection. They talked me through all of the steps afterwards. They answer texts quickly with any questions. And Dr. Khansari himself phoned me the day after the extraction to see how things were going, which I really appreciated. I don't know how the price compares, because I never got an extraction before. But it was one fee that covered all of my different visits and they told me the price upfront. I was referred to Dr. Khansari by my general dentist, words cannot explain how thankful I am for that. I unfortunately fractured a molar that was root canal treated, no pain because no nerve. However, it was sensitive to pressure (because of the fracture) upon receiving my dental X-ray- I was contacted by his staff informing me of the news that I needed to get an extraction. So we scheduled for it. Eeek! I was so nervous I had my best friend go with me for emotional support. * enough parking, easy to locate* Front desk, Paloma and Zora were absolutely welcoming, kind and the music was such a vibe. I was then taken back by Emma, Dr. Khansari's right hand. She made me beyond comfortable she explained and gave me a questionnaire, checked my medical history I was impressed on how thorough they are. Because I am in the path of getting an implant down the road, they drew blood for them to mix with the bone graft for better and faster healing! Hello 100% yes sign me up, didn't feel a thing. So fast and efficient. Surgery time, I had a blood pressure monitoring the entire time. Dr. Khansari numbed me again, pain numbs, pressure is normal FYI! He made the extraction process simple and felt absolutely nothing. Angie, helped Emma and the Doctor with passing the bone, sutures.... Communication and teamwork was 15/10! Dr. Khansari is very kind, listens, wants to meet your expectations and will try his best to accommodate your needs. Unfortunately I did not use him because the prosthodontist that he works with I was not a fan of so I decided to go find a different team. I landed in the most incredible hands so it all worked out amazingly. I am now 3 days in to healing from 6 dental implants placed meticulously by a very skilled oral surgeon with an incredible surgical staff! He talked me through it, so sweet and funny. He put me at ease during this very serious and huge procedure (which he made seem so simple!!!) Dr. Khansari's office refunded me my consult fee and gave me all of my records and images to help me out since he knew I had a long road ahead of me in search for a new team and having to go through all of the physical challenges. Where do I start? First off, if you're in need of periodontal care, look no further. This is your doctor, your staff, your treatment plan. I was referred to Dr. Khansari by my dentist after years of cleaning, braces (three times!), and regular root scaling treatments. For some people, a lifetime of care doesn't necessarily mean you won't need periodontal surgery. I am on the tail end of my surgical procedure with Dr. Khansari and felt that now was the time to write a review and to post it everywhere! Why should you choose Dr. Khansari for your care? - Quality quality quality. His office is immaculate, the treatment plan is comprehensive and effective, and his team is exceptional! Special shout out to Emma, who spent time getting to know me, sharing a bit about herself, and reinforcing that this place was going to treat me like family. - Affordable. I'm not saying cheap. Instead, when you think about keeping your teeth for the rest of your life, the price you'll pay will be well worth the investment. I'll never regret this decision. - Skilled. I'm just two weeks post op and I had gum and bone grafts all over my mouth (I think it was 16 teeth). Dr. Khansari also prepped a missing tooth for a future implant. My surgery took about 5 hours and I just had a few stitches removed today. I can already see the difference and I'm excited about it! Dr. Khansari is an artist! This office is always busy and yet, I'm always able to get an appointment when I need it. How does that happen? Everyone there looks and acts like they are happy to be there. My dentist referred me to a Periodontist but they were not in network with my insurance so I researched to find one that was. I could not find one I was comfortable with but I did see Dr. Khansari's reviews and after calling both offices, I chose Dr. Khansari because he was $100 cheaper, his staff was nicer, and they would submit the paperwork to my insurance for me. I paid Dr. Khansari $545 over what my insurance would have allowed if he was in network. At the time, I was okay with it because the procedure sounded complicated and I wanted it done correctly. All of my reasonings turned out to be a bad decision. Dr. Khansari turned out to be more expensive because I had to pay my regular dentist to redo part of Dr. Khansari's work. Also, his staff has misled me several times. Once, I was told I would receive a call from them by June 5th to provide a solution for my having to pay my dentist to redo Dr. Khansari's work. I also asked to talk to Dr. Khansari but I never received a phone call from either the office or him. After the first procedure, I went in for a recheck and I told Dr. Khansari that I had an appointment in two days to have my temporary crown put on but he told me it is not ready and he wanted to check it again in two weeks. I immediately called my dentist and asked her if she could do the temporary crown now and she said she needed to receive approval from Dr. Khansari which she had not received. At my next recheck I was told my gums grew back so Dr. Khansari told me he needed to cut them again and he said "let's try it without numbing". Keep in mind that the cutting is done with a laser. I thought it would be a quick snip but it became apparent that it was going to take a lot longer and the pain was so bad they had to numb me after all. When I went into my dentist to have the crown put on, she said my gums grew back again and I needed to have them cut again. She said I could go back to Dr. Khansari or have them do it. I paid them extra to do it because I did not want to go back to Dr. Khansari. They showed me the "before" and "after" and I have to say what my dentist did was a work of art. I know this review is long so I am not going to go into the details for their billing practices and the falsehoods (confirmed by my insurance) I was told which is delaying my getting my partial reimbursement. Dr. Khansari is an excellent specialist. I had complication with my tooth and I am done with my implant - took almost a year -and all steps and appointments went without any complication. I was able to manage pain with Tylenol, Ibuprofen and ice packs. It is a long process so brace yourself with patience. MetLife was giving us hard time as well to the office. I'm so glad I found this place. They are very knowledgeable and professional. I was treated for an gingival abscess that I had from my pregnancy. My dentist couldn't help me, so they referred me to Dr. Khansari. My abscess has resolved since being treated. I also decided to get a follow up teeth cleaning at this office because they specialize in periodontal care. I was so impressed with the teeth cleaning that I got from Erin. She is the best! I have never been to an American dental office that does a phenomenal teeth cleaning job. Erin took her time and knew what she was doing. Two things that you want to consider though. First, this place is pretty pricey. However, I guess you get what you pay for and that's quality periodontal care here. Lastly, they don't have much appointment availability. Even though their website says they accept my insurance, when I got there I was told I was out of network. They should have told me this when I made the appointment. I've been here several times before, they know my insurance, so this makes little sense. Would NOT recommend. I was happy with the surgery that Dr Khansari did, however I was not happy with their services regarding billing at all. I ended up paying approximately $1,400 out of my pocket even though I was told that their office accept my insurance. My insurance was supposed to cover 80% of the surgery, but it did not and any of the documents from the dentistry office was not accepted. There was several communication between staff and my insurance, but there was no outcome. These procedures are well defined procedures, so I don't understand why their documentation does not support why they had to do this work on my tooth for the insurance to cover. I'm giving one star but I would give him negative stars if I could. I saw Dr. Khansari for approx 2-1/2 years for one implant. During this time, I experienced 2 painful infections, had 3 failed implants, and a failed bone graft. I never missed an appointment and followed all of his aftercare instructions. This experience with Dr. Khansari caused a great deal of stress, emotional distress, and it affected my personal and professional life. I really believe that Dr. Khansari is not qualified to perform implant surgery. For 2 years, his negligence and poor communication caused me a lot of suffering, time, and money. I learned for another dentist that I was not the only one who has had a bad experience with Dr. Khansari. After 2 years of struggle, in 2023 I switched to a real oral surgeon and I had a complete tooth implant in 6 months, without any further complications. Be extremely careful with these guys. They're one of the most inflexible dentist location that you can work with. First of all they charge an exorbitant amount of missed appointment fee, and even if you do want to reschedule with them, they will still charge you the fee and won't deduct it from your procedure fee. Most other dentist location would be willing to deduct it provided that you still do the procedure with them. I would recommend people to stay away from this place as there are many other dentist that do the job just as well but are nicer to their patients. read more

Dr. Khanzari and Team are AWESOME! I got sent there from my dentist as I was having some severe issues with my back gum, like where my wisdom tooth was. A lodged poppy seed that caused an infection and was getting worse and worse. He was able to see me immediately after my dentist called it in, he eased the pain right away with his experience ad skill and got me in the same week for oral surgery. Emma was the nurse and she as so thorough in explaining everything that was happening, what to expect and just about held my hand through it all. Dr. Khanzari was a true professional throughout the procedure, always checking in and also did a great job in explaining everything, answering ALL of my many questions and never making me feel rushed. My visit involved two extractions and a lateral sinus lift. Because I requested no sedation I was able to follow Dr. Khansai's dialog with a professional colleague. There were at least a couple of dozen times when Dr. Kahnsari explained some critical technique. They all had a common thread; namely, "this is very important for sure and swift healing". This starts with the choices of materials (i.e. platelet rich plasma, a new package of bone, membranes, etc.) ; it involves surgical techniques with very many critical anatomical choices; it involves techniques for placement of bone and membranes; it involves suturing in very specific locations with very specific sutures. This is classic "the devil is in the details" which I have heard from many surgeons whom I admire. For me Dr. Kahnsari's treatment paid off with a very smooth recovery. I am giving this detail because anybody can stumble on to a good outcome for one patient. Dr. Khansari's relentless attention to dozens of details with choices all focussed on swift and sure recovery for you will work reliably . My father was a dentist and I was my father's guinea pig for much of the technologies available at the time of his practice. There are always changing medical advances that make dentistry a practice. Dr. Khansari never made me feel like I was his guinea pig, but we did laugh about some of the antics I had to endure while being the youngest of my father's patients. A most amazing and welcomed experience when facing a procedure that is necessary, scary and unwanted (to be honest!). Absolutely everyone beginning with my first telephone contact was kind, patient and helpful. On the day of the procedure itself I was completely at ease with the doctor and all others I came in contact with. I had a consultation because my new regular dentist said I had some deep gum pockets and should talk to a specialist. On the first visit, he recommended opening both sides of my gums on the bottom, putting me under and doing surgery of sorts. It seemed quite aggressive considering I go to the dentist every 6 months and this was the first time someone mentioned an issue. I went ahead and got a second opinion. They recommended deep cleanings every 3 months and said if I needed surgery it would be the area of two teeth and not my entire lower gums both sides of mouth. Fortunately I finished several deep cleanings and over the last couple years am back to regular cleanings every 6 months while keeping an eye on my gum issue. I had a regular check up today and everything looks great. I never had the surgery. I'm not saying I won't ever have to have surgery but I prefer a more conservative approach first. This is the second time I have had the extreme pleasure to visit Dr. Khansari. The first time was for an implant that he performed for me a few years back. He did a phenomenal job and I have had absolutely no issues with the implant. Dr. Khansari is definitely one of the most honest and humble doctor/dentists I have ever seen. His work is perfection and he is humble about it. He NEVER says you need treatment if you don't. This is HUGE in my book. I just recently saw him for his opinion on my receding gums and if I needed grafting. Another Periodontist said I did but I wanted to get Dr. Khansari's opinion because I value it. Dr. Khansari said I did not need immediate treatment and said to wait a year and revisit. He gave me very good suggestions on how to care for that area so maybe I won't need grafting. Again, he didn't look to give me a treatment (like the other Periodontist) that I did not currently need! That honesty will keep me coming back to Dr. Khansari (hopefully not too many times because dental stuff is not my favorite thing, if you know what I mean), if I should need treatment. I chose Dr.Khansari as the dentist to do my implant after reading all the great reviews, but unfortunately I didn't receive the same stellar treatment as other patients. I came in for a dental implant consult in Dec 2020 & was told that my dental insurance was in-network with Poway Perio & Dr. Khansari. I was informed by Sheryl, the insurance coordinator, that my insurance would cover the implant procedure & so I scheduled the procedure for July 8th, 2021. Three days before my procedure, the insurance coordinator Sheryl called & told me that Dr. Khansari had cancelled my appointment because he was dropping my insurance. There was no option to pay the out of network price or pay cash, which I would have been happy to do so. My appointment was simply cancelled & given to another patient. There was no rescheduling of the procedure. If Dr. Khansari didn't want to accept my insurance, then why didn't he tell me back in Dec 2020 when I came in for the implant consult? I guess money is much more important to Dr. Khansari than patient care. Now I need to find a new periodontist and pay for new CT scan & X-rays, all this time while my jaw bone is wearing away which means I'll require more bone graft when I eventually get the implant. Dr Khansari was one of four top Periodontists I consulted about treatments/surgery for my advanced gum recession. During the consulting process, I learned much about the latest procedures being used. My choice was based on who I thought could give me the best long term results to save my teeth. That was Dr Khansari! He preformed an allograph procedure on my bottom 8 front teeth at one time. Be Careful and Read the Fine Print of Your Insurance Yourself!!! I had a specific cleaning done which my insurance only covers once within a 12-month period...the issue comes in that I had the cleaning done twice by this office! Which means the insurance company rejected the claim for the second cleaning and have to pay out of pocket. Their 'insurance specialist' simply needed to do her homework (and look at my file) to see that the insurance company would not cover the second cleaning. The office representative noted that they 'don't read all of the fine print' for each insurance policy (cleanings - I would think are pretty routine). So...when they say 'your portion will be...' make sure you research on your own and don't trust this office to provide accurate info. read more

Really amazing periodontist! I had a gum graft, a consultation, and 3 follow ups. He did an amazing job on the gum graft, two months later and you would never guess I had any recession! He answered all my questions in detail and he helped me to determine what was causing my gum recession. I absolutely recommend him! His office was also excellent.
