2021 he was pulling a scam with another dentist. Went to my insurance. He tried to overturn to complain. I had documents of proof and all documents were turned into insurance. It went to the top where mediation had to happen between my insurance and a 3rd party dentist investigation. He lost, I won. I got money back from their office. The end. read more

I had my surgical periodontal treatment in early of June, and it has been a great experience with Dr. Rubinoff and his team. I am not a native speaker, they patiently listen to my questions and explain every detail to me. Their bill is clear, no hidden cost, everything has a detail breakdown. Their team is probably the most efficient team I have ever seen. I was very worried about this surgery due to the pandemic, I am a cautious person (I even don't go in person grocery shopping for half years already), but I believe they are professional, and they prove themselves that it is safe to have a periodontal surgery during this time. They have all the protection procedures: masks required, online survey prior office visit, temperature check before entering clinic, hand sanitizer everywhere, Dr. and his assistants wear PPE. Their assistants are thoughtful, holding every door for me to avoid touching the handle, and give me hand sanitizer when I enter and exit any room. Let me start off by saying I've had more than my share of dental issues starting from early childhood. Tetracycline discoloration of adult teeth. Poorly located adult teeth that needed gum removal to drop down, baby teeth that wouldn't come out, impacted wisdom teeth removal, teeth that crack and fall apart, hereditary gum recession that started in my twenties. You name it. I've had several periodontal surgeries performed by Dr. Rubinoff over the past 20 years. First I had four quadrants of gum grafting in early 2000's, then last year laser surgery due to the effects of faulty veneers (put on by a different dentist) followed by another graft. And oh yeah, a benign gum callous removal caused by Invisalign trays. I got a second opinion before the laser surgery by a periodontist in a swanky new office with piped in spa music, a huge tea bar, and overly friendly staff, and was told there was nothing they could do for me. Imagine! Dr. Rubinoff has always been considerate and thorough with his explanations of the work as well as the billing. He and his staff have always worked with me to determine the best timing and most cost effective treatment course of action. The office and equipment is always clean, organized and well-equipped. The quality of the prep care, his work, and post operative care are impeccable! He has high standards for the results he wants to achieve and it shows. Now I see him every six months alternating with my routine dental cleaning. My hygienist is prompt, thorough and very solicitous of my comfort and follow-up. Let me start by saying I have had a difficult dental year (see my review of the villains at Del Sur Ranch Dental for details) that started with a cracked tooth, root canal, failed crown, and ultimately a referral to Dr. Rubinoff for a crown lengthening procedure. I found Dr. Rubinoff and his assistant Antonella to be professional, competent and even funny, which I find very helpful when under stressful conditions. The crown lengthening is a serious surgical procedure with stitches, and follow up, but when I consider the alternative was having to get a dental implant, this procedure was well worth it to keep my natural tooth. My cost-share from insurance was explained up front, they took care of the billing, and it was accurate. I felt Dr. Rubinoff did the right amount of follow up, I didn't feel like I was being up-sold at all, and each of his office staff was friendly and respectful both on the phone and in the office. I like that he specializes in only a few procedures, so I felt he was highly competent and experienced. I would not hesitate to recommend him to my friends. read more

I recently had a surgical procedure done to correct a receding gumline condition below my front teeth. Two of my three sisters had similar surgery done years ago. One told me the experience was so horrible that she'd rather die than go through it again... yes, she was exaggerating a bit, but she said the procedure was truly horrible and painful. So I put off the surgery for a few years, until I got a referral from a friend for Dr. Craig Rubinoff. I scheduled an appointment to have an examination. Upon arrival at his Poway office, near the corner of Poway Road and Pomerado Road (he recently moved his practice from Rancho Bernardo to Poway), I was greeted by a very friendly office staff. Dr. Rubinoff and his assistant, Antonella, spent at least 45 minutes conducting a very thorough exam of what should be done to fix my receding gumline condition. Dr. Rubinoff explained what the procedure would entail, and that he uses a laser instead of a scalpel for parts of the procedure, which reduces post-op pain and speeds the healing process. Dr. Rubinoff and Antonella made me feel very comfortable that things would go well, so we scheduled the surgery for a date and time that was convenient for me. The procedure went off without a hitch. The first couple days post-op, some pain and discomfort was present, but by the third day the pain had virtually gone away. There was, of course, some numbness and discomfort. My diet for the first week consisted of juices, protein shakes, and soft foods. By the second week, I was back to a fairly normal diet, but still avoided hard, crunchy foods. The the third week, I was eating anything I wanted. I've been to two post-op checkups, and Dr. Rubinoff assures me that the healing process is going as it should be. It's been six weeks since the surgery, and everything feels completely normal, almost as if the procedure hadn't taken place. Kudos to Dr. Rubinoff and his staff! I wish i could give this office zero stars. The office to the doctor are very unprofessional. When i went into the office for the first time and filled out their paperwork, the dental assistance would transfer the information to a handwritten chart. By the time that the doctor came in and was looking at the notes that the assistant put down on the chart, he got upset and was telling her how she messed up and didn't do it right and asked for one of the seasoned assistant to come in to help out with charting and looking at my mouth. I felt so uncomfortable and felt bad for the new person. Once my appointment was over, i left and never looked back. read more

This was my first time having Gingival Graft Surgery or knowing anything about it. I am so happy that Dr. Rubinoff and his entire staff had the patience with all my questions, and I had many questions. They had all the pre-op instructions and post-op instructions all in writing and easy to follow. I am currently undergoing a lower front teeth implant procedure with Dr. Rubinoff. I am a 69 year old male who has had various dental procedures in the past. Dr. Rubinoff came with excellent recommendations. His initial evaluation was very extensive including complete x-rays and individual tooth/gun/jaw examination. Included in this evaluation was a complete medical, dental and medication history. His assistant worked in conjunction with him in collecting this information. Dr. Rubinoff"s front staff made contact with my current and previous general dentists and coordinated insurance billing. Prior to the extraction appointment, I was fully advised of the implant procedure, the procedure costs and given prescriptions for antibiotics and pain medication. During this appointment, molds were taken of my teeth for the preparation of a "stay plate" (temporary teeth) that would be placed after the extraction of my effected teeth. Dr. Rubinoff has provided my general dentist with written updates. I was fully prepared for the next appointment. The extraction went very smoothly with little discomfort. The surgery was completed with the utmost concern for my comfort and well being. Dr. Rubinoff continually sought my input throughout the procedure to ensure I was doing OK. Since the extraction, I have seen by Dr. Rubinoff for two checkups to determine the healing status of the extraction site. Healing has been very quick with no repercussions, swelling or long term discomfort. The stay plate was adjusted during the first checkup and is very comfortable to wear. The doctor expects the implant to be placed in my lower jaw in the next few months. Dr. Rubinoff is extremely professional and maintains a very modern and well managed office. Unlike general dentists, his office is very private with individual "closed door" surgical rooms. His front and back staff conduct themselves in a very warm, professional and caring manner. Undergoing implant surgery is not a routine procedure. However, Dr. Rubinoff and his staff eliminated all my concerns and I was very confident, and remain so, in completing this procedure. I was referred to Dr Rubinoff by my general dentist. I was aware I needed some work done a few years earlier by my previous dentist, who had explained the seriousness of my receding gum line. Needless to say, I was anxious about having the procedure done. This year, I went for a consultation and was planning on having the surgery done, however, due to family emergency was not able to for several months. The office staff kept in touch with me and would check in like once a month, which I greatly appreciated. Once things were pretty much back to normal...my nerves kicked back in. My husband who had more questions and concerns scheduled an appointment to have his questions and concerns answered. All went well and we were both satisfied. I have to say, I was so worked up for nothing! The procedure went well and I did not have any pain. Just a little, minor itsy bitsy discomfort from having work done in my mouth...BUT NOTHING LIKE I WAS ANTICIPATING!!!
