I went to this office a week ago for tooth pain. Dr stephen lee was thinking that I was there for crown. When I said that I didn't come for crown, he got angry and started making fun of me for waisting his time. Left the office before I can explain why I came to his office. He raised his arm toward me meaning get out of here. It is the worst experience I had in my entire life with a doctor. How a doctor can treat a patient like that. I was there because I have tooth problem. This is his staff mistake not me. I noticed few times before that he doesn't care any more. He leaves the office to get rid of me before I finish my word and once he raised his voice to my daughter. He is rude and bad tempered. I don't recommend this office to anyone. I came here to get a routine check-up and to get a cleaning done. Be aware that this office is huge and sits on the OTHER side and OVER a wall of another dentist office that I accidentally visited. The office staff is pretty nice and the place is clean, and very appealing. It doesn't even look like a dental office. The practice is ran by a dad and son that just graduated dental school. He has to be the youngest dentist that has ever worked on my teeth in my whole life (25?). I was truly thrown off and couldn't believe it, but he got the work done. Now I'm hoping he just didn't oversee or forget something haha. The average cleaning is about $77. Dr. Stephen Lee's office saw us quickly... My daughter with special needs was having a dental emergency. Her silver crown had cracked in half and a very sharp edge was tearing her tongue apart. His office staff worked with me to get her into Childrens hospital to be put under anesthesia and take care of all of her dental issues, within two weeks of our initial consultation with Dr Lee. I got a root canal and a crown here a little over a year ago and I still have major pain. It took 4 appointments for this one procedure, I don't know if that's because they will only work on you for an hour at at time or it that's typical for a root canal but it seemed very excessive. After it was all said and done I still had pain to the point it was making throw up so two weeks later I made an emergency appointment, I had also broken another tooth in this time frame that I wanted looked at. I was COMPLETELY DISMISSED by dr. Stephen Lee during this appointment. He legitimately said to me, "it looks like I did a pretty solid rooty, but I'll give you some antibiotics to ease your mind." So basically he gave me antibiotics to shut me up. He also told me he did not see a broke tooth, I pointed it out to him and he said no. It was broken, it was cutting my tongue open. I left that appointment and did not return for any of the following appointments I had scheduled. read more

Hands down the best dentist's and office I have EVER been to! It was August 5th, a Sunday at 6pm mind you and my nephew dove into the shallow end of the pool breaking big chunks off his front two ADULT teeth. We were able to get ahold of Dr. Stephen Lee and Dr. Elan Lee and they told us to meet them at the office ASAP and they would be there shortly. Incredibly kind and so gracious to our family and even helped calm the nerves for my very nervous nephew. Dr. Lee is THE best, and his work is amazing (Trust me, I'm an elite & a 3rd year dental student). I'm surprised he doesn't have more yelp reviews, but it's probably because he doesn't pay to advertise himself like some others. He relies on his own quality of work and word-of-mouth from his patients. While visiting my family in San Diego, I had some dental health issues and needed to see a dentist immediately. My sister told me I HAD to see her dentist, Dr. Lee. She had been seeing him since moving to SD and has fallen in love. Dr. Lee made her feel very calm even though she typically has some dental anxiety and a high fear for pain (She is the type to say ouch before the needle touches). He did her first root canal, and she said it was completely painless--from the needle to the drilling to the filling to the end. I decided to give it a shot despite the lack of Yelp recommendations, and I am very grateful to her for directing me to this professional. I walked into the clinic and was admitted as an emergency patient. The girls in the front were very friendly, made it very easy for me to schedule an appointment, and I was seen right away. I needed some invasive procedures done, and Dr. Lee made if incredibly comfortable and painless. Dr. Lee and his assistants made the whole visit very enjoyable for me. He told me exactly what he was doing and what I should expect. He explained things step by step to me and treated me like his own family. As a current third year dental student, he practiced the way I aspire to practice. I can tell he truly knows all the science behind every material he uses and every procedure he does--best of all, he's got the compassion that makes a caring dentist. Dr. Stephen Lee and Dr. Elan Lee are going to be our dentist of choice for the rest of my family's life. I have never been more impressed with the care and efficiency as these two were. My son had a dental emergency on a Sunday evening and both Stephen and Elan came to the office within 20 minutes of our call. My 12 year old son had smacked his top teeth on the bottom of our pool and they had broke off. My son was so nervous on the drive to their practice but that all went away as soon as they sat down and started walking him through everything they'd do to get him fixed right up! Both Stephen and Elan were so caring. I was amazed at how great of a job they both did! You'd never know that he had his teeth mostly knocked out! In fact, the binding look even better than the teeth that he had before. Very thankful for their time and care. I just want to put out the word that this office is my first choice every time. They always have found a way to take care of me. They only suggest actual work needed. Even without insurance, you won't be floored with a rip-off bill. They just don't operate that way. Steven is a very compassionate, highly experienced, very intelligent dentist. He is grooming his son, Elon, to be a great dentist as well. They are very pleasant to work with. If you are looking for quality dental work, with people who are respectful and knowledgeable, I can't think of a better place that I would send someone I care about. Dr couldn't wait to get out of the room; didn't interact with me at all, just interacted with his assistant; he was pained when I asked for some more info - getting info was like pulling teeth, pun intended.. Again, he couldn't wait to get out of the room. I was soooooooo astonished by his avoidance behavior that I didn't get answers to my questions about different possibilities for fixing tooth, like implant or bridge! Egotistical Ash-pole. When I asked the office manager my dental questions after my exam, she said those are questions I should have asked the dentist. I told her I tried...(duh). In all fairness, I went in with high expectations of personal empathetic dental care based on their website. He takes pride in his work and I can see why. His office is very nice. There is even an elevator for the disabled. I came in because I had a tooth ache. He sat me down in one of the rooms and took a look. He told me I had two cavities. I came back the next week. He did two fillings in 30 mins. He told me what to expect and what to watch out for. As you can see, I don't write a ton of reviews. I do, however, write either outstanding reviews or not-so-happy reviews. I was so impressed with this office that I had to write a review. I am always hesitant when it comes to dentists because I've had a lot of dental work in the past. I've been to dentists who want to do a lot of "replace those old fillings" and other cosmetic work, so I solicited referrals from friends on my Facebook. One of my friends suggested Dr. Lee. I am SO happy that he was on my insurance list. First impressions are so important, and when I got hold of the front desk on my first call, she happily answered all my questions and spent time with me. With satisfaction from this first step, I booked an exam and cleaning. I was greeted by Teresa pretty much right on time. She did initial X-rays and charting. Then Dr. Lee (the son) came in for the exam. He noted that I had some older dental work, but said it looked like it was holding up. Basically, "If it's not broke, no need to fix it." No hard sales! Step two, satisfied. I was scheduled for cleaning that day, but the exam had taken a little longer than expected, so Teresa asked if I'd rather come back. She wanted to do a thorough job. Yes, I'd be able to do that. And I'm glad I did. I came back the following week. She did probably one of the best cleanings that I've had in years. I called Dr Lee's office and was able to get an appointment within one week. They were very prompt and Dr Lee was soooooo great . Chatty and gentle . He didn't try to get me to do "extras" which the last dentist I went to did very hard. He was able to put a new crown on same day PAINLESSLY . I was referred to Dr. Lee through a friend and I am glad I found him. It was about two years ago that I had to start with a crown and I just finished up on my second crown. I've been very happy with the results. He's very laid back and always eager to walk you through all of the steps. Dr. E. Lee and his staff were extremely dismissive, insensitive and did not value my time. Someone made an error whether it was a member of their team or "the lab" remains a mystery. Nonetheless, I showed up for my scheduled appointment (I am disabled and have to limit my driving), which was confirmed by the office, ready to have my procedure done. Dr. Lee numbed me (this is after informing me that the delivery was 10 minutes away). Then, one of his assistants came in 20 minutes later and said that they're not doing the procedure because there was a mix up with "the lab". A few days later a representative called me to reschedule the procedure. I showed up and had it done. All Dr. Lee and his team had to say for wasting my time and inhibiting my ability to eat food for hours was I'm sorry and make sure to take care of your tooth...They only followed up with me because I filed complaints. Dr. Lee had the audacity to call me and inform me how he was disappointed, which is not only self-absorbed but the wrong approach to have with a customer. He did not come to my business for a service and was treated with little regard but vice versa. Nor, I did not make a careless error or one of my vendors. He may be skilled at his craft (time with tell) but lacks customer service skills, same with his staff. He's like that's just move on from this, how patronizing. read more

I have extremely sensitive teeth where every time I've been to a dentist in the past they would give me very little numbing, where I'd be in extreme pain. The staff and hygienists are amazing. Wish I could say the same for the owner and main dentist, Stephen Austin Lee Sr. I took my 3 kids to get their teeth cleaned. They are 11, 6, 1 years old. My daughter was getting her teeth cleaned when the dentist walked in. He greeted her and then "jokingly" asked her 3x if my older son was her husband. This struck me as inappropriate, why is he sexualizing my 6 year old daughter and 11 year old son and making references to insest? Then he was asking my daughter how she does in school and if she is smart. He asked "Are your brothers smarter than you?" She said that maybe her older brother the dentist replied "Yeah, because boys are smarter right?" Then asked my son how he does in school and tells him to do his best because "we have to compete with those japs" the lady cleaning my kids teeth look extremely uncomfortable right there along with us. He made other inappropriate and unnecessary comments. I also heard him giving the lady in the next room a hard time about her tattoos "oh, you love that enough to get it tattooed, wow that's interesting." Just completely inappropriate all around. His son has always been very polite, although sometimes a little abrasive to the hygienists.. he's always been friendly to myself and my kids. Needless to say this opened the doors to having a "learning experience" and long conversation to my kids about his behavior and comments. We won't be returning. read more

Dr. Lee is a great dentist, with a fantastic staff, and a great work ethic. His son, Dr. Elon Lee is just as good. I hate the dentist, but if I have to see one Dr. Lee is the only one I will go to. For fillings he is really gentle with the shots and takes his time to do good work. Some dentists will go out of their way to finish faster, but Dr. Lee will spread fillings out based off quadrant. Why does a dentist take Denti-cal yet privately tell the patient they won't make enough profit off of them to help them? I went Feb 2019 waited for approval. Called a couple months later because I didn't hear from them and to make appointment, the son takes the phone, tells me he wants to talk to me privately,and says that when they got the "bill" it wasn't going to...well, they have a business to run. In other words, they won't profit enough for me to be worth seeing But, they should not accept denti-cal if they are not going to help the patient. Then he had the nerve to tell me, "but come on in and we'll get you cleaned up"meaning they will extract a tooth. Like i'm someone in rehab. What a joke. read more

Don't be fooled by the nice new surroundings. If you go to Dr. Lee you will only see him once a year. Every other time will be with a hygenist. I saw the hygenist every three months for a year and ended up with thousands of dollars in perio surgery bills that experts agreed would have been avoided if the dentist had been paying attention. This guy is about the money. He's rushed and doesn't know how to talk in "patient speak" and is insulted if you ask. Check out some smaller offices in Poway like Dr. Salamy. He actually looks in your mouth!!! Our whole family changed to another dentist when we realized we were never seeing the "dentist"!!!! They also busted my chops for being 3 mintes late one time yet I've been kept waiting up to 30 minutes over my scheduled appt. time. read more
