This is surely one of the top 10 restaurants in the Village of Pinehurst for breakfast. They get 4 stars for food, pancakes were some of the best ever, eggs done just right, choice of link or patty sausage, we had link and it was quite good. Picturesque setting right on the harness track, on a Saturday morning there were five or six rigs out on the track. Atmosphere inside is three stars at best. Concrete block building, casually dressed wait staff, very loud, but friendly. Patrons are a diverse crowd, tables are clean, you may have to wait for a table. An excellent place to bring kids, with horses, sulkeys, barns, no through traffic and formica tables. Not as good a value as the Pine Crest Inn, but certainly well worth an occasional visit. Restroom was clean but so small that you must decide what you are going to do before you go in, as once you close and lock the door, you can not change your mind. Note: CASH ONLY. In the days of the proliferation of services like Square, I personally find this an arrogant lack of sensitivity to customer service. read more

Been going here every year for several and its just a comfortable place to be. Golfers, horse people, locals who know and a kitchen and serving staff that just want you to be happy and on time. Two poached eggs, potatoes, link sausage and the occasional blueberry pancakes with a bottomless, always full, cup of coffee, make my day. You will love it! read more

I was disappointed to receive extremely rude treatment when I called with a question about coming with my daughter for a birthday breakfast. The lady who answered the phone was curt and rude; it was as if I was a fool for not already knowing the answers. I hope this feedback provides them an opportunity to improve. read more

Love this place! It's like coming home, and it's a fabulous deal! If you're new to the area or just visiting, don't miss this. The wait staff is super friendly, real southern hospitality, and the very casual atmosphere is just right. My kids love it and can't wait to come every summer when we're here. The breakfast portions are generous and the coffee is flowing. Love their biscuits which are huge and buttery, and the blueberry pancakes are awesome and stuffed with berries. Other typical eggs and bacon type breakfast offerings are just the right mix of greasy and flavorful that you'd hope for at a diner type place. I've been going to this place since I was a kid. It is just what you expect on the track, a small breakfast joint with all the staples. Eggs, grits, bacon, coffee. The inside feels like it was the place the 1960s forgot but that's part of the charm. The waitstaff is pleasant and your food is always out quickly. I alway enjoy reading people's reviews. This is a breakfast restaurant. Eggs are fresh. Coffee is hot and dark. Blueberry pancakes are delicious. Syrup is sticky. Great breakfast. Now back to the other reviews. People get over yourselves. I would love to come to your house and review your- mood, service, smile, food quality, light levels etc. If you really get wound up over these things in your life you need to learn how to take a deep breath. First off: Cash Only. Perhaps posting the sign on the front door instead of at the register would be ideal? It would've saved me a trip to the Exxon station for cash. Second, if you want to walk into an establishment and immediately feel unwelcome by the piercing stares of the local geriatric populace, look no further, this is your place. The food is reminiscent of a Fort Bragg chow hall and definitely not something to write home about but worthy of a Yelp review. Basically, it's a hole in the wall for golfers to meet up before a game of golf to talk about golf and is about as welcoming and comfortable as a hospital bed. I think it's safe to say you don't go to the Track for it's food. But hospitality, they do have. I've been here twice with my parents and by the second time they remembered my name, where I was living, and what I was studying. If you're looking for local charm, it's a must. But if you're looking for gourmet brunch where you don't have to walk through the kitchen to be seated, try one of the golf courses :) read more

PTR is a good place to go for a casual breakfast. I waited a while to try it because I figured that it would be really expensive and fancy. Wow was I wrong. The location is great -- in Pinehurst, right next to the carriage track -- but they must be serving the cheapest food around. And to top it off, they had a vegetarian sandwich that was pretty good. I got the veggie sandwich and french toast. I'm glad I got two things because the french toast was terrible -- don't get it. But the veggie sandwich (which tasted like a Ruben) was great and only cost about $4. read more

Stopped in for breakfast one morning after seeing the reviews, plus a recommendation from a local. It's an essential part of the golf experience in Pinehurst, and I wanted to love it, but I thought it was just ok. The building is made of concrete block, so the noise that reflects off the walls makes it hard to carry on a conversation. I ordered the blueberry pancakes, and my husband ordered the Horseman's Special. Both meals were fine, but nothing to write home about. Did I love it there? No. Would I go back? You could wait for hours at this place before you even get acknowledged by anyone working there, especially the unpleasant woman at the cash register. It is the most unwelcoming place you'll ever go in the Village, and the food is mediocre on its very best day and is not worth the horrible treatment patrons receive. If you do get acknowledged, it is usually that woman barking something rude at you as if it is a privilege to be there. Keep travelling past the track on highway 5 and visit "Tina's Breakfast and more" next to Food Lion-exceptional staff, very very friendly, locally owned, and really great breakfast! read more

We never got seated. The New York lady in charge was abrasive and although there were four empty tables, she couldn't take time to accommodate five people. The back room was empty but no way were we allowed to be seated. This could be one of the greatest breakfast places (although I doubt it), but we felt very unwelcome. We went to the Villager for breakfast. Good service, nice waitress. Don't bother going to the Pinehurst Racetrack Restaurant. Not friendly at all!!!! Mainly the New York lady. Shame! Lady at register offered us no option of seating except a four top-- no pulling tables together, no eating at empty tables in Back as smaller parties continued to arrive and be seated!
