Hopping restaurant located on a posh residential street about a mile out of the village. The decor…read moreis eclectic (I dined under a large, colorful Dr. Seuss print) with fairly closely-spaced tables that keep the room buzzing. There's an upscale bar in the entry that had several seats open even when the tables were all full. I started with the crab hush puppies. What's not to like about fried dough after all, but I didn't really get much crab flavor out of them. The buttermilk and corn preparation came through more. The entree was a showstopper, though - grilled elk chops with a pomegranate glaze and country mashed potatoes. They were scrumptious, and the al dente vegetables cooked in with the potatoes gave them a nice toothsomeness. One of the best entrees I've had in quite some time. It's nice when a menu gives you a protein choice you don't see everywhere. Parking is fine, with a paved lot in front and spaces on either side of the adjacent street. Service was welcoming and efficient.

We were seated in a back room at a long table, one of three. This room was warm and lovely. One table was already occupied, the other filled up shortly before we finished. From start to finish, our dining experience was wonderful. We did not have to worry about our little ones disrupting other guests, as the other party had little ones too. Our server, Madeline, was absolutely perfect! She was attentive without being intrusive. She had a good sense of humor and guided out decisions for food when we asked. She served us promptly and with a smile and made us feel so welcomed. I wish I could remember what everyone else ordered but I do know that my Pork Schnitzel was incredible! Also huge so I had enough for another meal the next day. When I return I will order the same thing. My husband brought a birthday cake in for me and our server brought that out at the end of the meal with plates and forks for everyone. We forced her to take a piece for her break, which she goodnaturedly did. There is only one tiny tiny thing to mention: It did take a long while for the 5 year old's drink and food to arrive. Not anyone's fault, it was very very busy. But try to explain that to a 5 year old. Rolls were served but they were too spicy for her. Or maybe the butter was spicy? Maybe feed your little ones something beforehand if you go on a busy weekend night, as we did. Kudos to the kitchen for pleasing so many different tastes so much, and for management for hiring Madeline who is a great asset to your restaurant.

The Pik N Pig in Carthage, NC is the best in the area. My family and I have been coming here for a…read morelong time. We have always had great food and wonderful service! This restaurant is very clean with a very welcoming atmosphere (seating inside and out) and clean restrooms. The waitstaff are always very attentive and just all around good people. The cooks are amazing and cook your food just as you order. Very kid friendly, I've been bringing my kids here from wee little ones to teenagers. If you have not checked out their Christmas events with Santa flying in on a plane, you need to check it out. No matter how old you are, you will enjoy it. The elves will parachute from the plane while they put on a show, and Santa will fly in to greet the kids. This place is all around awesome!! Check it out if you're in the area drive-in or fly in it all works!! Thank you Pik-N-Pig for always being awesome!!

When we arrived we were asked inside or outside, I chose outside, then got seated inside, because the outside tables were "wet." Waitress and rest of the service was very good. We had the pulled pork and brisket plates. The brisket was very lean. The pulled pork had almost no fat. The Honey BBQ sauce had absolutely no honey in it. The "better than sex" cake was advertised to have condensed milk and caramel in it. Sadly, not the case. IMHO not worth the drive from the Triangle. There are better BBQ places right in your town/city.
