We visited Pinehurst for the day and really enjoyed Agora. Unfortunately we got there an hour before closing, so most of the pastries were sold out. We tried the macarons and espresso pull apart bun. Both were delicious, although we felt the dough of the espresso bun was a little underbaked as it was quite dense and squishy inside. The lavender matcha latte was really good. Nice bakery and cafe in the village shopping area. Very busy and matches pinehurst's type of shop. It isn't as welcoming as other shops but they were busy so it may be better during the week. Coffee souring is good but not done in house. Pastries many choices for pastries but a little disappointing. They suggested them to be warmed and it was still cold. My husband and I stopped here a few days ago and then again a few days later. The line to the one register is always long and you have to arrive early to get any baked goods. The coffees are all one size and they have hot breakfast options. We like the breakfast burritos and the cronuts. The prices are on par with every other coffee shop. Seating is limited inside, the tables are still warm from the previous customers. They do bring you food and coffee to the table. My only recommendation is to find a new process for customer orders. I understand its a small operating coffee shop with one barista but the customers pack in and more would come if they processed through faster. Definitely recommend you give them a shot. read more

We have lived in Pinehurst for years and usually have breakfast after church. We have tried over a dozen places and decided to try this cafe despite the limited menu. My eggs were lukewarm, sausage dry and cold. The sourdough toast was good. They ran out of coffee. How does that happen in a cafe? We drank decaf instead of waiting for them to brew regular. A lot of workers standing around. My husband ordered an almond crepe. A COLD almond crepe. I have never heard of a cold crepe. It doesn't say it is cold on the menu. But it was mushy and so disappointing that he only ate half of it. The cafe is attractive but that is about it. Lots of Millennials and social media types, and a few younger golfers thrown in the mix. While it doesn't have the cool vibe we prefer the Trackside, Greenbow or Village Cafe for great food that is hot and where the service is great. read more

We stopped by for a morning coffee. The pastry and coffee were delicious. A great venue with good indoor and outdoor seating. A transformed bank , with a vault and a few an antiquities to enjoy. Bright and open with seating for getting caught up on emails or just a friendly coffee chat with a friend. Order at the counter and buzzed when ready. I ordered a regular drip coffee which was bold and rich. The pastry's looked so good we ordered two. The espresso pull apart and an almond croissant! Very good and great with coffee. We had a delicious cinnamon cream cheese macaron and Kougin-amman! Of course espresso and coffee was delish!! The service was mediocre, seemed disorganized and confused. The coffee was out and we watched it brew until 7 minutes after dripping that we finally asked if they could bring the coffee out. We would try it again as every place has an off day. read more

Please figure out a quality ordering system. Add another POS, permit online ordering, and streamline the to-go pickup process. We ordered over the phone bc the site wasn't allowing orders. We arrived to pickup but there was no designated area and no one answered the phone after several attempts so we could receive guidance. No parking resulted in driving in repeated circles while my husband had to wait in line and we were late to an engagement. I get that it's busy, that you want fast money in an affluent area, and that your counter people are trying their hardest with the limited resources and oversight they're provided. But there are a ton of similar setups that make the process work more efficiently. I encourage you to study up on this concept, MBA or not. At this point, I'd just patronize the coffee shop down the sidewalk (rhymes with "post office") where the food, coffee, and service are phenomenal- and timely. read more

Great spot right in village. I live in pinehurst and not a ton of good restaurants with the service you would expect in bigger cities However this place is extremely rigid in terms of ordering. I tried to place an order at the counter at 10:58, but the lunch menu did not start till 11:00. They would not let me order. Moved to Pinehurst from Salt Lake City, Utah 4 days, ago and tonight was the second time going to Agora. My lady and I went for breakfast Tuesday after work and they were advertising "cocktails and cuisine" every Thursday. We decided to come back for it and it did not disappoint!! Set menu covered all areas of anyone's palate. The drinks that were prepared were amazing as well!! The staff has been extremely nice both times and the vibe in the building is amazing. A treat to the senses First time visiting Agora for brunch with a couple of my girlfriends this week -- truly an adorable Pinehurst venue. We were eager to give it a try, as it's a newer attraction in the village. Guests order their selections at the counter, then are served after they've chosen a table. We chose a small table in their Carolina room and enjoyed lattes, fruit tea, and butterfly lemonade. (HIGHLY recommend the butterfly lemonade). Atmosphere & aesthetic are hard to beat in this area BUT -- My one complaint was our brunch orders took a bit longer than we'd preferred, and I ordered a scrambled egg and cheese croissant, which came fried instead. If you're looking for a quaint breakfast or coffee spot to enjoy your morning (indoor/ or outdoor), Agora is a beautiful location to spend an hour or two. In my opinion, the beverages far outdo the food but i will be back to try something different next time. read more

Loved this cafe! Former bank building with a bank vault was super cute inside and outdoor seating was perfect for a breezy summer morning. They had gluten free pastry options and all the milk alternatives you could want which was a plus for me. Service was quick and friendly, food and coffee were good. We went yesterday. Late morning. We knew it would be busy, but the service was terrible, except for the gentleman that delivered our food. (I'm sorry I didn't get his name) We ordered 3 avocado toasts, good. But too salty. 1 Elvis toast - delicious. 1 GF banana bread - awful. Overcooked. Burnt. Barely any banana flavor. Dry. 1 cinnamon roll - so-so. 1 vanilla steamer - with so much vanilla flavor you couldn't drink it. WAY too sweet and barely warm. 2 flat whites - no foam. Practically cold. Look, we understand you and were busy. However, the cashier was borderline rude, it took 20 minutes for the above mentioned food and 35 minutes for the coffee. I'm not exaggerating. I know some people do. This is no exaggeration. We've dined here multiple times before this and have had nice experiences. This was not one of them, sadly. read more

Absolutely love Agora. Very friendly atmosphere and service. Delicious brunch/ lunch fares. The pastry baker, Hannah lived and trained in France . She has mastered the art of REAL French croissants. Not since my childhood had I tasted croissants like this! It has become our go to for a casual eat. Since they bought the Bakehouse in Aberdeen, bread is often available to purchase right there. The Turkey, Avocado & Brie sandwich was AMAZING! My biggest complaint with deli-style sandwiches is when all of the meat is piled in a small portion of the bread. The place is delightful the coffee is delicious and the food is truly excellent. I've had the eggs and bacon platter, and the Turkey avocado bacon and both were amazing. Great place to sit and get some work done. There's an outlet by the tall table with stools, and an outlet in the corner. There are also lots of outside tables if the weather is nice. read more

Agora has become my new "Cheers". Bella, the Barista is a coffee (and fashion) savant - be sure to try the house made lavender syrup. Sandy, who takes the orders is friendly and personable and always remembers the names of her regulars. The coffee and baked goods are the best I've found in Pinehurst- or for that matter Moore County.  The  bakery that has "real" croissants with a crispy crust that shatters when you bite into it.  The cinnamon rolls ( with cream cheese icing) are bigger than my head and the flavor is perfect - not overly sweet and redolent of cinnamon.  The baker does not skimp on the butter when she bakes and it comes through in every bite. I also recommend the sandwiches and "soup of the day". It's just what the Village of Pinehurst needed read more

Overpriced As a newbie to this area, I have been invited to meet people a few times at this local bakery, cafe and coffee shop. This is undoubtedly one of the top places to be when you want to see-and-be-seen in Pinehurst and Moore County. It is a nice space, a former bank as I understand it. I don't drink coffee, so I can't comment on that, but the food and baked goods are well-prepared, well-presented, tasty -- and very much overpriced. A sandwich can cost $15. That is not a good value in my estimation. Plus, some of the staff can be a bit snooty, due apparently to being around all the local beautiful people. I can forgo being seen in order to get good food at a more reasonable price. read more
