Whenever I travel I am always on the hunt for delicious spicy chai. My travels landed me in Southern Pines for a few days and the first coffee shop I stumbled into was the Pine Scone Cafe. This is a cute little shop situated inside Elliot's Provisions. While the scones looked amazing, I was on a mission for chai. The friendly barista informed me they have a few choices: a powdered chai (hard pass) and two choices of chai concentrate- sweet or spicy. The concentrate brand was, "Sanctuary Chai" which I've never tried, and the blend was "Spicy Honey Chai" so I figured it'd have that honey-sweet tang and hopefully a good hit of spice. I was correct on the honey-sweetness, but the spice level was on the lower end of the spiciness scale. Maybe it needed to be shook before being mixed, the milk:chai ratio was off, or it's just not that spicy. All-in-all, a passable chai but not really memorable nor craveable. The shop is cozy-cute, the staff are fast, friendly, and welcoming, but the chai is just meh. I regret not ordering a scone. read more

We loved this place enough to go back again the next day. Scones are warm and tasty, especially soft when fresh out of the oven. Coffee was also delicious. Service very friendly and atmosphere was cozy. The green goblin scone was fantastic! Give that one a try if you like mint. The blueberry white chocolate was also a favorite. We loved that you can also buy a frozen log to take home and make as a family- we got several! read more

Staff, is friendly & helpful, atmosphere is casual, comfortable & even a cute & varied selection of gift items! It has become a must have at least twice a week for me! Freshly made sconces are light and airy yet moist. Prefer their coffee over other local options. Charming ambience. You can sit anywhere in the entire building, which encompasses a fabulous deli (Elliott's Provisions) and farm to table restaurant open in the evenings. read more

The food is excellent as is the service. The gentleman at the coffee bar, who I believe is named Jacob, is incredibly warm and welcoming. He also hustles to make sure your order is what you want and that you get it in a timely manner. I can't recommend this café highly enough. read more

Wow is all I can say. I am a tea and scone fanatic and have bad them in London, Cotswolds, Prague, Alaska, and many places in between. I usually bake my own scones but while I was in the Pinehurst area I had to try Pine Scone Cafe. Well let me just say, if they were in the Raleigh area, I wouldn't have to bake my own all the time. The April in Paris tea was also amazing! Everything was so delicious and if you like tea and scones, you need to give Pine Scone Cafe a try. You will not be disappointed. read more

The best place for a sweet treat and a coffee! We set out to find this place as we love scones, we pulled up to see a Memorial Day deal for active duty military! As an active duty Marine Corps family, we were super appreciative for it. We ordered several scones and a coffee to share, then went back and purchased some locally made jewelry! Delicious Scones - I had the apricot/almond and my friends the blue berry and cinnamon chip - I would give it higher marks, but my drink was not correct, (suppose to be a macchiato @ $2.75) and although I took it back to the counter to ask them to make the correct drink, the lady apologized for the mixup - I sat down with my friends and 5 minutes later, a woman handed me the exact same drink; a CARAMEL macchiato ($4.75). The scones were quite lovely, I make them at home so I'm very particular but they have great flavor and quite creative ingredients​ as well as fine coffee. Drove 20 minutes here for all the gluten free scones advertised on their menu only to find none when we got there at 8:00 AM. It felt misleading going to a coffee and scone place only to find they were out of things first thing in the morning. I understand there are kitchen limitations when preparing GF but be up front about it on your website, or add something like "call ahead for special dietary considerations." I asked about GF scones and the worker's response was "we don't have any right now" and offered no explanation until I asked why. So, I ordered a cranberry lemon scone and my wife went without. The scone was relatively small and I think someone forgot the lemon part, it tasted like a sugar biscuit with dried cranberries. Coffee was ok, but there are better options in the area. read more

Always a wonderful place to grab a coffee and a scone. They have a variety of flavors for scones. Make sure to get there early because once they run out of a flavor it is gone for the day. I have tried the White chocolate, the scallion parmesan, all varieties of fruit, and the jalapeño cheddar. I am more of a savory person so my favorite is the scallion Parmesan. I have not had a bad scone from this Café. The staff is wonderful, knowledgeable and helpful. Definitely a must visit place on Pinehurst. read more

Had some of their scones for breakfast this morning and they were amazing! We picked them up to go and it was easy to get in and out and we loved all the different scones we had. It was 1:15 on a Sunday and we realized it was 20 minutes away. We rapidly jumped in the car to drive over and try it out. They were exceptionally nice considering we walked in 10 min prior to closing. We ordered two drinks, one being their egg nog latte (seasonal special) - very good, with oat milk. Everything about this place is amazing. It is across the street from my grand daughter's preschool and the location is easy accessible. The staff is very friendly and professional. The atmosphere is welcoming and comfy. The scones are simply perfection in taste and texture. The flavors are delicious. We ordered 5 (Parmesan spinach, raspberry chocolate, cinnamon chip, chocolate and salted toffee caramel and traditional with jam and butter) different varieties and each was better than the next. The mocha was a smooth balance of coffee and chocolate. I wish I lived here so I could enjoy this place anytime. You won't be disappointed. read more

Bought a few mini scones, really liked the cinnamon chip. Took home a log of salted caramel dough to bake for Christmas morning. Awesome idea with different kinds to choose from, both sweet and savory. Can't wait to try some of the others. read more
