There were only about 12 patrons sitting at the bar, and our booth was in plain sight, yet no one ever acknowledged us. Since we never received any service, we never had the opportunity to try the food or drinks. Eventually, we decided to leave. Based on this experience, I cannot recommend Blue Lion Pub and do not plan to return. With so many other restaurants and pubs in The Woodlands that value their customers' patronage, there's simply no reason for me to waste mine here.

I came there for a pre-concert meal; DJ Jazzy Jeff, Paula Abdul, and New Kids on the Block were performing at the Pavilion that night. Don't roll y'all's eyes. Lol. When I arrived, it didn't seem busy at all, so I seated myself at the bar. But, it did take a while for me to be noticed. First off, I had to ask a fellow patron for the menu which was beside him. After saying hello to one of the bartenders, he didn't bother to ask me if I wanted to drink anything. Granted he was setting up some drinkware, I didn't want to mess him up as he was organizing them. So, I let him be. It was not until another five minutes that his co-worker asked me what I wanted to order. Luckily, with preparation, I already knew what I wanted. First was the drinks. I ordered "The Godfather" (Tullamore D.E.W. Irish Whiskey | Disaronno Amaretto | Aromatic Bitters | Luxardo Cherry), which was really good! Nice and even drink with no overpowering flavors. Along with "The Godfather" came my usual accompaniments of iced tea, and water. Second was the food. Since I didn't know how big of a portion were the entrees, I played it safe by ordering two appetizers: Shepherds Pie Dumplings ("Homemade dumplings stuffed with marinated pork in traditional Irish seasonings. Served on top of mashed potatoes and finished with a green pea purée."), and Duck Wings (six wings "tossed in a Sweet Guinness sauce."). Usually, dumplings are steamed or lightly fried, but these dumplings were deep fried to a dark, golden brown. And with their accompaniments, they were really good! The wings with that sweet sauce were really good, too! I had to use a knife and fork because I didn't want to leave a mess all over myself. Would I visit them again? Maybe. She hired some great employees who brought in customers, but one of her later hires was questionable. That former employee now seems to have the power to get almost anyone banned, even though she's the one who caused many of the problems. I don't understand why someone who no longer bartends there would still have the authority to decide who can and can't be at the bar. I have nothing against the owners personally, but I don't understand why they would allow a former employee to influence who is welcome in their establishment. Don't get me wrong--every bar has some drama. However, I've never seen or heard of drama like what goes on at Molly's in Tomball. The manager was sweet and caring, but she often brought personal issues into the workplace, making it difficult for some employees to do their jobs. She would even yell at employees in front of customers. A good manager should address those situations privately, such as in the office or away from guests, not by the kitchen doors where everyone can hear. If you're looking for a place with constant drama, kids running around, good bartenders being fired, former employees deciding who can and can't come in, bartenders allegedly getting high, taking shots on the patio, and lying to management about it, then this may be the place for you. Those issues also seemed to contribute to customers being over-served, property being damaged, and problems with the karaoke DJs. Law enforcement is there almost every weekend, and the bathrooms frequently smell like a sewer. This is just my personal experience and opinion.

We will give them another try before we are forced to find a new local hangout.
