Made reservations here for Mother's Day. Was a bit nervous bc last year did the same at a place a few doors down and it was terrible. Pleasantly pleased with the service and the food. Our waitress was very accommodating to my MIL who has a very limited diet. I had an old fashion cocktail and it's one of the best I've ever had. Everything was superb. Will definitely return.

We met some family members here for lunch on Saturday afternoon. It wasn't crowded, in fact there were only a couple of tables taken. The service was good and the food was OK, but like my last trip (not reviewed) it just didn't seem all that great. I had the R&R Burger, which was as close as they could get to a plain hamburger. The fries were pre-seasoned, and could not be ordered otherwise, so obviously frozen. McDonalds fries are better...

Decided to take a little drive about 45 mins north of Houston to the place we heard about on social media, Rail & Rye in Navasota, Texas. This little town definitely has a historic vibe, including this establishment. Rustic, but modern. We entered and were met by Chef James. The service was phenomenal from the start. My husband ordered a Maple Syrup & Blueberry Old fashioned. Now he is a self professed Old fashioned snob, and he gave it 5 stars! We ordered the burger & chicken fried chicken both were delicious. We spent dinner deciding on which friends we were going to be the next time we come.. Great big city tastes with a small town vibe We will definitely be back. Thank you!

We swung by R&R while visiting Navasota, and were pleasantly surprised by the place. The restaurant is very sleek, modern, but relaxed as far as build out is concerned. They offer indoor dining on their first floor, as well as a rooftop bar area that we didn't check out due to high cold winds when we were there. They're also attached to a next door gift shop if you walk past the bathrooms in the back of the restaurant, in case you want to pick up some scented candles or tea towels. The menu offers a pretty well rounded assortment of choices. We ate there for lunch, so I've only got that for reference, but it seems like you can find something you like based on the options. They have weekly specials depending on the day you're dining, there's salads, sandwiches, burgers, shrimp & grits, blackened redfish, tacos, soups, and a 7 or so appetizers ranging from chicken wings to lamb lollipops. I had a big bowl of tomato basil soup and a grilled cheese, which was perfect for the cold windy day. Everything we ordered came out quick, was well portioned, and tasted great. Service was fine enough, not perfect, but definitely not anything to complain about, especially for a classy casual restaurant in Navasota, TX. If you find yourself hungry in Navasota, I'd highly recommend checking out Rail & Rye. I'm hopeful they stick around and similar offerings start popping up around it. Eat local and shop small.

Delicious Flat Iron Steak from the lunch menu! Ordered medium rare and the chef delivered. In the photo, I'm about halfway in. Flavorful and tender. What a treat!

The ambiance of this restaurant is so cute! Went here for a late afternoon lunch and the service started off strong but slowly went down hill from there. The first drink came out within 5 minutes from the bar, we did not see the other 3 drinks for another 45 minutes... After that we ordered food a salad, burger, chicken sandwich and pasta and it took 1 HOUR for it to come out. The tables were not full and the food was NOT hot when we received it. Really wanted to like this place but was disappointed when it came to service and food quality.

Ambiance: The inside is very small, and there was hardly any available seating, but we managed to grab the last two open seats. The staff wasn't great -- it was surprisingly hard to flag someone down even though the place is so small. Service felt a bit slow and inattentive. Flatbread Pizza: The cheese on the pizza wasn't very good, and the crust had an off putting burnt taste to it. Overall, there was just something not right about the pizza -- it didn't feel fresh or well-made. Definitely wouldn't recommend it. Sunset Martini: The drink was just okay. It was pretty sweet, with a very strong coconut flavor that reminded me of Ocean Water from Sonic. It pretty much tasted like OJ and coconut, and nothing really stood out about it.

Smoked Mashed Potatoes- very thick and smokey, but delicious. Definitely need some water lol. Poblano Creamed Corn- my wife liked this, but I didn't care for that creamy corn texture lol. Dessert: Marie Antoinette Cake- chocolate mousse cake that was perfectly rich with some kind of raspberry or berry drizzle. The spot is cute and cozy--nothing fancy and plenty of charm that isn't too forced. We ordered food and drinks at the bar and then sat in their indoor patio area (no A/C but tolerable circulation with the fans). They make their own beer, and we both enjoyed the kolsch that we stuck with for the evening. As far as food, we shared a giant pretzel and our daughter got a plain pizza. The pizza is that cardboardesque version, but it was edible. The pretzel was decent, but definitely a frozen-to-oven situation. What we *do* want to shout out is the mustard it came with. It was SO good. We asked if it was homemade, and it allegedly was: so spicy and nasal-clearing and tasty. The mustard alone is what is pushing up from 3 stars to four! Bottom line: nothing crazy special, but a good place with friendly folks working and decent food and drink. Prices are consistent with the area, and it's certainly better than Mandito's and it beats the chaos of Royer's. We won't be back, but we're glad we tried it.
