First of all they had a drive through!! Already winning!! We decided to split a croqueta sandwich which was absolutely bomb af. And we got some coffees to go. Definitely a good choice to save money. THE WORST DONT GO THERE. I went to get a birthday cake for my mom and THREE OF THE LADIES working at that time were EXTREMELY RUDE TO ME. The younger one with blonde hair, the oldest one (is she deaf or what? I said hi multiple times and she didn't even looked at me) and the old one with dark skin (maybe fake spray tan). As you are zipping down A1a, Pinecrest is so easy to overshoot. STOP!!! I love their bakery goods, especially with the choices of specialty coffee. Always friendly service. They have drive-thru, but you are missing out if you don't go inside and enjoy the goodness. read more

Very popular place including by locals. Had to wait for approximately 45 to get the order in and have the food ready (note, nothing needed to be made to order). Altogether it took about an hour to get coffee and a pastry which was intended to be a 10 min stop. The coffees were good. The key lime pie was decent - the velvet cake and chocolate cakes were not worth the wait. read more

Discovered this bakery from a recommendation from a local server in. So glad we went and tried it. We ordered a Keylime pie to take home. It was very reasonably priced at $13. We also took The bakeries recommendation and ordered the guave cake, crème brûlée, and some thing similar to eclair. The guava cake was awesome. Everything here was very good and the best part about it is it's open 24 hours with the drive-through. If you're visiting the keys, I highly recommend stopping here. read more

I thought this place was terrific. It's a Cuban bakery with outstanding coffee and pastries. Their English isn't the greatest but neither is my Spanish so we made it work. Your coffee might be served in tiny drinking vessel. Relax. This isn't Starbucks. There's a lot of caffeine in this stuff, plus it's delicious. Whoa big disappointment, not with the food because we never got that far, there were a few customers sitting at the tables inside tapping their feet waiting on their orders, the outside completely empty and a car parked in the drive-through for who knows how long. After browsing the pastry case for longer than I wanted to, I was ready to ask a few questions and place an order but the employees were pre-occupied and most of the pastries weren't labeled. NOT WORTH THE HYPE. This place is completely disorganized. My hubs and I stopped in here for breakfast and walked into a madhouse. Cool, it's popular, must be good. They had a number station to pull a number from so we pulled a number and stood out of the way of the door as more people were coming into the restaurant. The place was busy. 5 minutes later we notice they aren't calling numbers and seem to be just randomly helping people with no real system in place. I asked an employee what the deal was and she said they weren't using the number system today so we went to the back of the unorganized "line" and lost our place in line which was frustrating. Subsequently we saw a LOT of cars moving through the drive thru so I am guessing they put more effort into getting cars through than they do the people in the actual lobby. Anyway, I ordered a monte cristo and my husband ordered a breakfast sandwich. It took 20 minutes to get our food. My monte cristo was cold, not warm like they are usually served. It was not served with the perfunctory jam so I asked for some and they said they don't serve jam. WTF. I have had LOTs of monte cristo sandwiches in my life and have neve had one cold or without jam. Its like serving a peanut butter and jelly sandwich with no jelly and over noodles instead of bread. My husbands breakfast burrito was bland and meh. We decided to give the place another chance since it had high ratings and went back a few days later in the evening for dessert. My husband had oreo cheesecake which was dry, bland, and tasted like sugar without any cream or cheese. I had the neopolitan bar which tasted old and stale. Their desserts are not labeled so you have no idea what you are ordering. I asked an employee what a few things were but she seemed annoyed having to explain what they were. Staff seemed impatient, borderline rude, and had a "take it or leave it" attitude. I mispronounced the name of one of their menu items and the gal working openly made fun of me and made a weird face like I was an idiot. This place is also NOT open 24 hours as the sign indicates. The evening we arrived they were getting ready to close and it was only 9 pm. Skip this place. There are a lot better options in the area for better eats. read more

Pinecrest Bakery in Key Largo is part of a chain of bakeries with pastries, cakes, sandwiches, and salads. The pastries are what we go there for as well as their coffee! The gals working behind the counter are knowledgeable and very kind! They were so patient when we asked about all the different choices. The restaurant is in a wide open space with a covered eating area outside as well. Prices are reasonable and choices are plentiful! read more

We paid $42.90 for 7 donuts/baked goods, 1 beer, and an individual serving of wine. I still can't figure out how it was so expensive. I think the lady may have charged me for a full bottle of wine. Baked goods were not great, especially considering the price. read more

The girls are nice- but they have been trained to be super aggressive. Just wanted a sandwich- would you like fries and a drink? Nope- just the sandwich. How about a dessert? Nope, just the sandwich. How about a cafe after your lunch... dude, I just want a sandwich. So, I get the sandwich. A club sandwich. A club sandwich is toasted bread, lettuce tomato, bacon ham and cheese. Bread was untoasted, no mayo... just a triple decker white bread sandwich. Could I have ensured they make it this way? Yes- but dude. The bacon was super curled so you're eating a super thick fried piece of rubbery bacon. Just pretty disappointing. I've had this in other locations and it's been leaps and bounds better. Music was a little louder than I'd like, wifi was not working, just all in all meh. Bro. I walked into Pinecrest Bakery expecting to be spiritually fed. Instead, I left linguistically confused, financially violated, and emotionally limp. No one speaks a lick of English, which--respect--but unless you're a Michelin-star Cuban abuela or took Duolingo way more seriously than I did, good luck ordering anything other than confusion with a side of regret. None of the pastries are labeled. It's like a culinary roulette wheel with zero instructions and everyone behind you breathing down your neck like you're holding up TSA. I got to the front, made eye contact with the lady behind the counter, opened my mouth--and was promptly ignored like a broke man in a Lambo dealership. Five minutes of standing there raw, unacknowledged, questioning every life choice that led me to this fluorescent-lit fever dream. The worst part? It looked good. Like "shut up and take my money" good. Problem is my white ass could only identify maybe two pastries, and neither of them were what I wanted. But I panicked and went with the Cubano, a slice of Oreo cake, some carrot cake, and two mini carrot cupcakes for the homie and I to split. Got in the car, ready to devour... and holy shit. I haven't been that disappointed since my ex told me she "wasn't ready for anything serious" and then got married 3 months later. The Oreo cake? Disrespectful. Should be illegal to call that Oreo anything. Cardboard with frosting would've hit harder. Carrot cake? Not offensive, not exciting. Just there. Mid. Like the guy she tells you not to worry about. Cubano? My brother in Christ, if I wanted a mayo sandwich I would've stayed home and ate depression on white bread. Key lime pie? You're in KEY LARGO. You had one job. This pie tasted like it was made by someone who's only read about Florida in a textbook. Bland, soggy, soulless. Final thoughts: Service? Ass. Food? Ass. Price? Straight-up highway robbery. I dropped $45 and left hungry, confused, and white as hell. This place is a trap for out-of-towners with hope in their eyes. Don't fall for the glass case lies. read more

My friend and I dodged across highway 1 to get here and let me tell you it was worth it. We came back the next day for more breakfast goodies. Coffee is on point, one day had the cheese and papaya pastelitos, the next day had a yummy ham and cheese number with a super secret (ok not really) stripe of seasoned meat baked into the pastry. Oh yeah had a guava juice too. The ladies up front aren't being "not nice" I just think they're being efficient. There was a line both days and it went fast. There are a couple of 2-4 tops inside and some seating under a cool tiki gazebo outside. read more

Every ingredient tasted fresh and homemade, including real eggs cooked to order, not the processed "fake" eggs you find in so many places. Be sure to save room for one of their homemade pastries. I was charged $56 for TWO cupcakes in a large order. When I looked at my receipt later and noticed, I tried to call but had been BLACKLISTED in their Maitre'd system. When I called from a different phone, I got the run around that no one spoke English. I speak enough Spanish to communicate my issue and they still acted like they didn't understand me. Usually I enjoy dinning at Pinecrest and decided to give the new one in the neighborhood a try. Service in the afternoon shift is a very big problem here, rude barista having a conversation about the manager and the owner behind the counter using bad words and not providing service at all .. I do not know if it was the server having a bad day or it was typical but what I received was the worst service in my life. It's a shame how I used to like this bakery but after coming here with my parents, my aunt and her boyfriend, it was a disaster. NO ONE SPEAKS ENGLISH! ! We try to tell to the girl (Maria) that she forgot to charge us the box of pastelitos but she didn't understand!! The staff that works here is absolutely the worst!!
