I walked in and was greeted warmly, and within minutes I was reminded why I remembered this place so well. It's authentic. No gimmicks. No trying too hard. Just good Cuban food. Since breakfast is clearly one of their superpowers, I went with the breakfast burrito loaded with eggs, cheese and potatoes. Wow. "Delicious" doesn't really do it justice. The eggs were perfectly seasoned, the potatoes had that beautiful crispness, and then they brought out their jalapeño hot sauce. I put some on the burrito and immediately asked, "Do you bottle this?" Yeah. It was that good. We also had the steak and eggs, and they nailed that too. Perfectly runny eggs next to a juicy, flavorful flank steak. Exactly what breakfast is supposed to be. A year later, the verdict hasn't changed. Yeah, this is the real deal. I still maintain that Denny's Latin Cafe serves the best Cuban food north of Havana. Five stars. And if somebody knows where I can get a bottle of that jalapeño sauce, we need to talk.

It's become one of our annual traditions. The restaurant is a great size with plenty of seating. You can grab a seat at the bar if you want to enjoy breakfast there, or choose from one of the many tables throughout the restaurant. During our three mornings in the Keys, we never actually sat down to eat. Instead, we stopped in each morning for a café con leche and a few pastries to take back to the villa where we were staying. Everything was fresh, delicious, and the perfect way to start the day. The service is always friendly, the atmosphere is welcoming, and it's one of those places we genuinely look forward to visiting every year. If you're looking for a great breakfast stop in the Keys, this place is definitely worth the extra drive.

Most of the ladies who work there do not speak English just like in Miami, but there is always one who speaks a little English and if you can speak a little Espanol and point to what you want, you will get what you came there for. Our server was friendly and helped us get our favorite guava pastries. Their prices are very reasonable here. They were fresh baked and smelled so good! They also have Cuban coffee, iced and hot. They make delicious cakes and donuts. And the favorite there is the Cuban Sandwich, which is generously filled with ham, shredded pork, pickle, cheese and crusty bread. They also have pastelitos and croquettas. Parking is right in front of the super cute casa restaurant. There is outdoor dining and a few tables inside also. They have a drive-in also. The sampler comes with two conch fritters, two coconut shrimp, two bacon wrapped items (which we replaced), cracked conch, and lobster and conch ceviche. I have to say this while it's fresh in my mind. The moment I had the lobster and shrimp ceviche, I got chills. Just an incredible burst of flavor. Tiny bit of heat at the end but nothing overwhelming. Just really, really good. The conch fritters are solid too. Chewy, not over breaded, and served with two sauces. One is sweet and one is more of a mayo style. There's also something that eats like a conch curry puff situation. I liked the cracked conch better personally, but both are worth trying. The coconut shrimp is also really good. The sampler also comes with tortilla chips on the side. The lobster bisque is delicious. Great flavor with little chunks of what I'm pretty sure is lobster throughout. Nothing more to add really. It's just good. The mahi and avocado dish has a nice seared taste to it. Not flame broiled exactly, but that kind of grilled sear that you want on fish. The pico de gallo is similar to what came with the ceviche, and it works really well here. All in at $75.
