Hard to believe this was my first visit as I vacationed in Tomahawk for 30 years. Nothing was a disappointment. Salad bar was fresh and had just enough. Ribs and chicken were good. I am not a "fall off the bone" type of rib guy, but was advised they were. They were meaty and a bit too "fall off the bone", buy I was advised properly. Son had chicken fried steak. It was good and HUGE. Cocktails were spot on. Price was great for today's expensive and overpriced world. My son gladly took 3 boxes of leftovers back to college. If this was our first visit instead of our tenth, we probably wouldn't be back. Started with the phone call to make reservations - zero phone etiquette. Next when approaching the hostess, she was so harried, she couldn't even take the time to escort us to our table, just a point and a wave, "it's over there". It took almost 45 minutes after we were seated (for our reservations) to be approached by a server...approached not greeted. Another 15-20 minutes passed before she could remember to bring our salad plates and cocktail order. All very disappointing up to this point given we brought guests for their first visit for his birthday. Salad bar was picked over like it had been attacked by ravenous dogs. A friend recommended this place when we asked for a referral on a local supper club, and it did not disappoint. Small downtown establishment with north wood decorations, friendly service and atmosphere. We had a drink at the bar first and they had a good beer and wine selection. I ordered the rib and chicken special with a side of broccoli. It was a full half rack of fall off the bone ribs and two pieces of crispy fried chicken. My wife ordered the fried perch and baked potato. The perch was lightly battered and crispy, we shared everything and both thoroughly enjoyed the meal, which came with a nice salad bar. A good, classic Wisconsin supper club fish fry. This was all my dad wanted when we were in Northern Wisconsin for a family reunion. A lake perch fish fry and a brandy old fashioned. The tricky part is that it was also Hodag Festival, and we didn't want to wait ages and ages for a table. Google and Yelp searches had us calling just about every supper club or supper club-adjacent spot in the general area trying to find somewhere that took reservations. Pine Tree Supper Club fit the bill. We got there early, such is the way with my family. And we were grateful to have made reservations because the bar area was PACKED. But luckily, our table for 5 was already ready for us and we were seated right away. The fish fry dinners come with a salad bar. This is set up in the center of the dining room and it is packed TIGHT in there. There was a lot of maneuvering just to get a little salad. Take or leave it...it is a decently stocked offering though. You also get to choose your potato-adjacent side. I got fries with mine and they are thick cut and chunky...good for dipping and also substantial for leftovers. The perch was delicious. Not too heavy on the breading and nice and crispy with the frying. The serving sizes are undeniably generous. My meal could have easily fed two people! Service was good and the brandy old fashioneds (both sweet AND sour) were delicious and we were never left wanting. We got exactly what we hoped for. I would gladly eat here again. read more

This is a very popular dining spot, and they serve up a mean Fish Fry on Fridays but be sure to get there right when they open to get your name on the waitlist and even then, be prepared to wait for an hour if not longer. Seats in the bar space are first-come, first-serve. Order an Old-Fashioned cocktail while you wait or indulge with "desert" before dinner by sipping on an ice cream drink. Fresh from the microwave popcorn is served up in baskets to all who wait or sit at the bar. A unique feature of this Supper Club is most transactions end in you receiving a 50-cent piece. They like to round up or round down to 50-cents and give patrons a 50-cent piece with their change. Definitely an unexpected and neat little quirk we enjoyed while sipping cocktails at the bar. Everyone who works at the Pine Tree Supper Club is delightful and hardworking. Everyone is hustling to get patrons seated, served and fed as quickly as possible. We waited about 15 minutes past our reservation time to be seated in a dining room - there are two primary dining spaces, one smaller room with the salad bar and a larger room for big parties in the back. You can also order food at the bar if you'd like to. The food was delicious, amazing prices for both the quality and portion size. If you're looking for an authentic, Wisconsin Northwoods dining experience you'll be hard pressed to find a better place than this supper club. read more

Although the food was ok the wait was ridiculous. When I approached the hostess she asked if we had reservations which shocked me because I had called earlier in the day and was told they didn't accept reservations but, sure enough they had a reservation list. We were told the wait would be an hour so we decided to stay as it would take that long if we drove somewhere else. It took two hours to be seated even though there were tables available. Almost everything on the salad bar was empty and the last straw was watching the hostess grab the forks by the tines (no gloves) to wrap them in a napkins. We won't go back. read more

I am a local man who took my family for a nice meal. The prime rib was ice cold, the Ribeye was tough and supper fatty (bad cut), the Bluegill was salty and overdone. The specials had prices that were more than the regular menu price by $5 or more each. Also they are constantly ringing a extremely loud cow bell to call the wait staff to pick up food. There is not much room so the might put a platter of food right next to your table just to walk it to another table with is not bad until you are waiting a hour for your food and your hungry. read more

We were pleased to find this place right on the Main Street in Tomahawk. A plain front hides an intimate colorful environment inside - busy bar and comfortable dining room behind. Our group of four ordered burger, meatballs with mashed, chicken and ribs, and rib eye steak. All were well prepared, delicious, and...huge. Salad bar was included with some of the meals and was nicely done with several healthful veggies and dressings. Service was friendly and attentive. There was just us two, when the waitress found out we weren't ordering a lot, it was like we didn't excise, we may have had dessert but were never asked. Kurt & Bill do their best to serve my food as gluten free as possible & take my allergy seriously! We are always met with a warm welcome!! The wait staff & bartenders are consistently cheerful, no matter how busy they are!! It's a great family friendly, old time supper club with fantastic food!! I think this is the age-old conundrum of a local place forced to decide whether to cater to locals and alienate people they don't know, or try to cater to everyone and risk the locals feeling neglected. My overall impression is that the owners cater to the locals, and more precisely, to the blue-hair locals. You know, the folks whose taste buds don't work so good anymore. The food is acceptable. Just. For the money, it could be a lot better. The service is acceptable. Just. If it got any more surly of slow, I'd be screaming about it. As it is, far as I'm concerned I don't ever have to go back there. My wife is a little more forgiving about it, she would go back. You don't see too many "supper clubs" anymore. We came here on a recommendation from family and beings as it was Friday night decided to have the Friday night Fish Fry special. This included a trip to the typical salad bar. The fish, I learned, is not local at all, which was quite a disappointment. The server said all the fish served there, or anywhere local, had to be shipped in despite so many local lakes and the huge fishing industry of the area. Perhaps this is to protect local stock? Either way for an out of towner looking for local grub this was a disappointment. Still, the fish served was cooked perfectly and had a great flavor. The garlic parm mashed side was a disappointment. It didn't taste fresh but had a sticky, thick consistency. Service was just ok. She was efficient but not overly friendly. My son ordered the bacon cheeseburger and liked it. Some others got the steak and said it tasted good (I didn't think it looked good and was glad I'd chosen fish, lol) The decor is an absolute trip. Stuffed dead animals adorn the wood trimmed walls. This place looks like it hadn't changed in 50 years, and according to my local family it hasn't! I'm glad there are places like this left though and thought our meal here was A-OK. Definitely one of the better restaurants in the area. Portions are large, ambience is great, and I love the Lakeview. Food is average supper club food they do have a relish tray instead of a salad bar which I can appreciate the nostalgia of it. Family friendly environment. We watched THREE tables seated after us get served their meals first. Two of them were actually finished and had left before we were served. We were at our table for over an hour before we got our food. During that wait we were checked on once and offered to be served beverages. Then my fish was cold. Without an apology it was returned to the kitchen and came back so overdone and chewy that I didn't even eat it. The waitress could have cared less. We were charged full price. Accompanied by a ridiculously generous 8oz of salty, bland tarter sauce (what a waste). Baked potato: done right. The highlight of the entire experience. At $20.99, I felt ripped off. The burger: big. That's all it had going for it. My husband ate it without complaining, but for $11.99 I'd expect the man to at least mumble "it's good" - or something. Fries were cheap/awful/generic, also spent too much time in a freezer. Service: slow, neither friendly nor rude. Just tepid. Fascinating because it wasn't particularly busy and we were seated right away. Took so long we had to ask for our bill and to-go boxes the moment the meals arrived (a burger and a fish fry shouldn't take 60 minutes). Admittedly, we were so unimpressed that we just wanted out as soon as we were done eating. The best/worst part: they had the local radio station playing 80s cock rock, obnoxious commercials and all, a little too loudly. No romance. Flat atmosphere. We enjoyed a great meal in Tomahawk, WI! As other reviewers mentioned, I went right for the specials board and was not disappointed; fried perch won my vote! My husband had the deep-fried seafood dinner, which he really enjoyed. The meals each came with soup or salad bar, plus choice of potato. The salad bar was one of the few that my husband enjoys, as it was loaded with salads AND salad veggies. We each had the hashbrowns, which were yummy. Neither one of us cleaned our plates... and we enjoyed every bite! The service was really fun and thoughtful. WOW! WHAT A MEAL!!! We had the special GRILLED PRIME RIB...mine came with garlic-parmesan mashed potatoes and husband chose steamed broccoli. (Baked also a choice) The salad bar is included ... what a delight that is. Fresh, fresh, fresh. Cucumber salad just like mom used up make...pickled beets, home made potato salad, not stuff out if containers! Plump tomatoes, celery stix, broccoli, cauliflower with a delicious dill dip. I wanted a second trip to the salad bar but resisted. The wait for the entree was expected due to # of diners...but when all is cooked while you wait, it is worth it. Our prime arrived with sautéed mushrooms (extra, and worth it) AND whole garlic cloves which we asked for, but weren't sure they'd have. The au jus was the perfect company to our perfect medium rare meat. Our cocktails that night were "old fashions" which we asked for "sour" but arrived "sweet", a mild error but didn't affect the meal. Tonight we drove all the way to Tomahawk in anticipation of eating a nice prime rib dinner at the Pine Tree. We ordered our meal, My friends went to the salad bar (I skipped it). When the prime rib that one of my friends and I ordered arrived it didn't look great, but looks can be deceiving, so, I took a bite of mine. It was awful...tough and all grizzle. We then asked for different servings and were notified that we probably wouldn't be happy with a different cut since it was all pretty fatty (yes, that's what we were told) and would we care for a different entre, which we declined. I had only eaten a baked potato and Linda had one (small) serving from the salad bar, mind you. Well, the waitress came back to us (extremely embarrassed...I actually felt bad for her) with a bill for $14 for Linda's mini salad and $5 for my baked potato. I could not believe it. Wonderful Customer service, Pine Tree...just wonderful. Remember, word of mouth can help or hurt a business. read more

Tonight, I experienced probably the worst customer service I have ever had. Came in with a party of 10 (6 adults and 4 kids). Right off the bat, the bartender seemed extremely annoyed. Annoyed at people, annoyed at her job, probably annoyed at life. One person from our group ordered 3 drinks, she asked if that was it, and our party was coming in from outside little by little (trying to keep the kids entertained outside while we were waiting for our table) and she kept saying, "is that it??" "Is THAT IT???" Pissed off that we were even ordering drinks. Every time she made some, she would talk about us to a couple at the end of the bar. She had no idea we were watching her, listening to everything she said. Called her out on how she was treating us, and she said "I have stuff to do. I have tickets to make". We were 100% an annoyance to her, even though it's her JOB to make people drinks. Pathetic. Found out afterwards from a local that her name is Shannon and the only reason she's still there is because they can't hire anyone else. She was SO bad that I think they are better off having the waitresses make their own drinks. Not only that, but the drinks were terrible. Unfortunate for them, because we come up for a 60 person family reunion every year and had they played their cards right, they could've gotten a lot of business when we come up (for 2 weeks).
