The main focus is the bar but they do have light bites and specialty nights. When we ordered they specifically said "the food will come out when it comes, we aren't a restaurant so we will get to the food when we get to it, it's not like an appetizer that will come before the lobster roll." We went for the first time for Lobster roll night and the lobster roll was FANTASTIC! The Burrata and Grasshopper were tasty as well but the Mozzarella Wontons lacked mozzarella and were practically empty inside, maybe a very tiny sprinkle of cheese. I'd go back again for their specialty lobster night in a heartbeat but could do without the other items we had. I'd probably try a few more light bites from the menu. The server was pretty good but left us and other hanging for a long period and many people ended up going to the bar to get help, but again this is mainly a bar and the special night had a place full of patrons for food and I believe our server was the only one for the whole place and then two people solely behind the bar. read more

Best place in town for drinks! My personal favorite is the Grasshopper. Located in the old train station, the train comes by daily. Great service. They also offer small plates such as Margherita flatbread and hot pretzels. Very authentic ambiance with great service. read more

This place is amazing. With a rustic, historic feel, the ambiance takes you back to another time. The drinks are absolutely works of art, and the bartender, Logan, was not only informative into the history of the building and area, but was a delight of added company and was entertaining to watch as he made original drinks you can only find at the Timekeeper! read more

Was in town only Friday night, almost didn't stop, when I saw their anniversary party post. I was afraid it would be more people than I would be comfortable with.... it was not!! I stopped in late Friday night, snagged the only parking spot in the lot! Upon entering, spotted a stool right @ the end of the bar... like it was meant to be! Ha. I told the bartender I'd been brewery hopping all day so looking for a sweet NightCap. He gave me a menu & said he'd order something on the left, under seasonal. Without asking him "what's something most Amaretto-sour-esque I opted for the Charlamagne's Garden. As I just wrote: I didn't ask him but this cocktail was very Amaretto-esque!! HIT the SPOT I was looking to please!! It was delicious and the perfect end to my one day in Wausau. Everything about Timekeeper was great; friendly bartenders, comfortable & spacious digs, eash parky and absolutely delicious cocktails. Thanks for quenching my palate, Timekeeper, cheers! read more

There was a serious shortage of boutique bars in Wausau until Timekeeper opened. Being from Milwaukee, I was expecting flavorful, unique cocktails and this establishment delivered. It's especially charming, as it uses one of the old Wausau train stations and provides a variety of games for you to play while you wait for your libations. The service was rather slow, but considering how busy it was when I went I considered it acceptable. There is table service so you don't have to stand by the crowded bar which is pretty nice. There are several different and interestingly named cocktails to choose from, with their original cocktails being $10. There are classics for $9 as well (think of your typical Wisconsin old fashioned, gin and tonic, etc). One of the owners stopped by the table and told us that she searched around the country for different inspirations for her recipes and that each juice used is squeezed in house and all of the syrups are house made. It definitely shows with their delicious taste and perfect presentation. I first chose the Rosemary's Baby, which, as you would expect, had a great rosemary flavor and was perfectly balanced. The next cocktail I chose was Again Into the Breach (I think - I might have gotten the name wrong), which was an earl grey infused bourbon, simple syrup and a few other ingredients. Unfortunately I didn't take a picture of this one. The last cocktail I chose was the Bogwon Bill, which had an egg white froth and complex flavor with a hint of habanero pepper. I thought each was delicious and worth the price. Wausau is lucky to have such a great, charming place that offers fantastic drinks. Try it out! read more

I was at The Timekeeper this Saturday for the RAD Fundraiser and I'm kicking myself for not checking this place out sooner!! The building itself is beautiful and unique. We very much enjoyed the cocktails (I recommend the Pink Lady). Service was excellent and Kim was very sweet and welcoming. Love that they have a dog-friendly patio! The one thing that I really appreciated was the large accessible restrooms! Being a wheelchair user, this is something that is often overlooked and hard to come by in most establishments - and often curtails the length of visits. Thank you for thinking of this very important detail. We can't wait to come back soon! read more

Cozy vibe in the old train depot. There is a pretty compact menu, which is useful in deciding what type of drinks to get. They also have a good selection of games to play while you hang out. It took a little while to get our drinks the night we were there, but the staff was super friendly and the place was packed. My friend got Once More Unto the Breach and thought it was interesting in concept but possibly a little liqueur heavy, which is not necessarily a problem. I ordered the Weapinized Sarcasm and thought it was quite good. There was a nice balance between the flavors so that it wasn't too sweet or bitter. read more

Our local best drinks in town stop! We come here at least 2-3 times a month to sit down have a nice cocktail and relax. Much rather be inside with only patio seating available, but can't complain too much because they are open. Our favorite drinks our killa bees and bear beats battlestar Galactica a must get every time we go. Pictures is the whiskey sour and their newest creation a vodka seltzer made right here at the distillery. read more

Friendly people, great drinks. Highly recommend. Such a unique place for a distillery to be in an old train depot.

What an amazing find in the Wausau area! The craft cocktails are simply amazing. The menu may not be extensive but every item we ordered for our group was well done and enjoyable. read more

We ordered the spirit flight, which included a sampling of their 4 house spirits - vodka, gin, rye whiskey and bourbon whisky. They were nice enough to include a sample of the 6-month aged bourbon as that was the one we were particularly interested in. Enjoyed the bourbons the most. Great, attentive service. Will have to return for a cocktail next time! read more

The food and drinks were very good. We will definitely be back! I also took 2 bottles of their Rye Whiskey home!

Stopped here during one of our tours, and was so glad we did! The bartender was friendly and the drinks were strong yet not too overpowering. I highly recommend getting the Bourbon Cream! We also had the flat breads and they were a filling snack. I really loved the "Bears, Beets, Battle Star Glaxicga". Most drinks have really interesting bitters in them, that really jazz up the drinks. The building is beautiful and they are even dog friendly in one area! How great is that! read more

Nice ambience attentive waiters and distillery tours. Flat bread was excellent. Many creative mixed drinks.

Nice patio. Overpriced drinks. Worst service ever. I'm sorry but waiting 45 minutes for a cocktail is unacceptable. read more

We stopped here on a late Saturday afternoon and were pleasantly surprised to see a good crowd enjoying some handcrafted cocktails. We enjoyed a flight of their handcrafted spirits +1 as the bartender allowed us to try the 6-month aged bourbon. The bourbon and 6-month aged bourbon were by far my favorite even though I normally prefer gin. A great atmosphere in the old train-station. read more

I challenge anyone to find a better bourbon. I like mine straight with a large cube...none better! Rye is also top notch. My wife has tried several drinks and all have been great. Hats off to Beets, Bears, and Battlestar Galactica...her fav. Oh, and then there is the ultra neat building, metal art work outside, AND it is pet friendly. This place is worth a visit! read more

Try every drink- in multiple visits, of course. You can't go wrong and each cocktail is a work of art. Live music adds a great vibe. Super friendly and efficient staff. Added bonus is when the train goes by and the original purpose of the building comes to life! read more

Great spot for the young hipster Millennial crowd that values experiences. Also a good fit for the older sect who might value quality service and premium beverage &/or food offerings. My spouse and I visited on a Saturday afternoon (summer, 2019). This place is artfully restored by local owner-operators. Service was exceptional. Drinks are, ahem, consistent with Chicago prices, though the beverage cost(s) might be justified because the cocktails are the thoughtful and differentiated handiwork of someone who cares deeply about her/his craft. The building architecture, outstanding service and distinctive beverage selection make Timekeeper Distillery a real gem. The venue and overall experience is akin to what a person might expect to find in a larger metro area. We're fortunate to have Timekeeper Distillery in quaint, idyllic Wausau, WI. To the proprietors: keep up the good work. read more

This is a really cool place. This is the old train station in Wausau. The folks here fixed it up nice, great cocktails with some food choices. Very nice people, the kind you want to support. read more

This is a fun cocktail joint in Wausau. Their craft cocktails are creative and humorous. We came with friends and enjoyed playing games that were on the side--we chose jenga and trivial pursuit. The building has a brick interior with mood lighting. There was an odd light outside that seemed to be broken and needs to be fixed (it kept flashing, which was a bit distracting) but otherwise great service and community. read more

Super friendly service and they know how to deliver a unique cocktail, something different than what's typical around Wausau.

Chose to meet with a friend due to the live music I saw on Facebook. The depot is cool, the train passing by was the cherry on top for atmosphere. The drinks are the star. Tasty concoctions, variety of choices of directly distilled liquor. Mighty tasty and creative.
