    seasonal October 2023 cocktails
    Nikki B.

Was in town only Friday night, almost didn't stop, when I saw their anniversary party post. I was afraid it would be more people than I would be comfortable with.... it was not!! I stopped in late Friday night, snagged the only parking spot in the lot! Upon entering, spotted a stool right @ the end of the bar... like it was meant to be! Ha. I told the bartender I'd been brewery hopping all day so looking for a sweet NightCap. He gave me a menu & said he'd order something on the left, under seasonal. Without asking him "what's something most Amaretto-sour-esque I opted for the Charlamagne's Garden. As I just wrote: I didn't ask him but this cocktail was very Amaretto-esque!! HIT the SPOT I was looking to please!! It was delicious and the perfect end to my one day in Wausau. Everything about Timekeeper was great; friendly bartenders, comfortable & spacious digs, eash parky and absolutely delicious cocktails. Thanks for quenching my palate, Timekeeper, cheers!

There was a serious shortage of boutique bars in Wausau until Timekeeper opened. Being from Milwaukee, I was expecting flavorful, unique cocktails and this establishment delivered. It's especially charming, as it uses one of the old Wausau train stations and provides a variety of games for you to play while you wait for your libations. The service was rather slow, but considering how busy it was when I went I considered it acceptable. There is table service so you don't have to stand by the crowded bar which is pretty nice. There are several different and interestingly named cocktails to choose from, with their original cocktails being $10. There are classics for $9 as well (think of your typical Wisconsin old fashioned, gin and tonic, etc). One of the owners stopped by the table and told us that she searched around the country for different inspirations for her recipes and that each juice used is squeezed in house and all of the syrups are house made. It definitely shows with their delicious taste and perfect presentation. I first chose the Rosemary's Baby, which, as you would expect, had a great rosemary flavor and was perfectly balanced. The next cocktail I chose was Again Into the Breach (I think - I might have gotten the name wrong), which was an earl grey infused bourbon, simple syrup and a few other ingredients. Unfortunately I didn't take a picture of this one. The last cocktail I chose was the Bogwon Bill, which had an egg white froth and complex flavor with a hint of habanero pepper. I thought each was delicious and worth the price. Wausau is lucky to have such a great, charming place that offers fantastic drinks. Try it out!

Logan has been an excellent addition to Timekeepers! He is so friendly, always is consistent, and is part of the whole, amazing experience!

I was at The Timekeeper this Saturday for the RAD Fundraiser and I'm kicking myself for not checking this place out sooner!! The building itself is beautiful and unique. We very much enjoyed the cocktails (I recommend the Pink Lady). Service was excellent and Kim was very sweet and welcoming. Love that they have a dog-friendly patio! The one thing that I really appreciated was the large accessible restrooms! Being a wheelchair user, this is something that is often overlooked and hard to come by in most establishments - and often curtails the length of visits. Thank you for thinking of this very important detail. We can't wait to come back soon!

Cozy vibe in the old train depot. There is a pretty compact menu, which is useful in deciding what type of drinks to get. They also have a good selection of games to play while you hang out. It took a little while to get our drinks the night we were there, but the staff was super friendly and the place was packed. My friend got Once More Unto the Breach and thought it was interesting in concept but possibly a little liqueur heavy, which is not necessarily a problem. I ordered the Weapinized Sarcasm and thought it was quite good. There was a nice balance between the flavors so that it wasn't too sweet or bitter.

Our local best drinks in town stop! We come here at least 2-3 times a month to sit down have a nice cocktail and relax. Much rather be inside with only patio seating available, but can't complain too much because they are open. Our favorite drinks our killa bees and bear beats battlestar Galactica a must get every time we go. Pictures is the whiskey sour and their newest creation a vodka seltzer made right here at the distillery.

We were in Wausau this week end and read about the recently remodeled train station that had been converted to a distillery We had a great experience Taylor , crafted a traditional whiskey sour that was to die for my wife and I enjoyed a few drinks and took home a bottle their Rye and Vodka I recommend for before dinner drinks or a great after dinner meeting place They done have much of a menu yet Thursday nights they have live music Check this place out

    Spirit flight
    Catherine Z.

We ordered the spirit flight, which included a sampling of their 4 house spirits - vodka, gin, rye whiskey and bourbon whisky. They were nice enough to include a sample of the 6-month aged bourbon as that was the one we were particularly interested in. Enjoyed the bourbons the most. Great, attentive service. Will have to return for a cocktail next time!

We came in here to have some cocktails and being out of town we didn't know many places. We found this distillery and had the most delicious original cocktails. The bartender was incredibly friendly and recommended some of the original drinks with gin.

Fuzzy Limpkin - tart but super refreshing on a hot day
    Jenny N.

Stopped here during one of our tours, and was so glad we did! The bartender was friendly and the drinks were strong yet not too overpowering. I highly recommend getting the Bourbon Cream! We also had the flat breads and they were a filling snack. I really loved the "Bears, Beets, Battle Star Glaxicga". Most drinks have really interesting bitters in them, that really jazz up the drinks. The building is beautiful and they are even dog friendly in one area! How great is that!

Super friendly service and they know how to deliver a unique cocktail, something different than what's typical around Wausau.

It is a vibe in here and the views are great, I love the atmosphere! They have an elevator or stairs to get up to the 5th floor. It is a tiny elevator if you are bringing a larger group. The bathrooms were immaculately clean and it felt like a spa vibe. Service: Friendly and helpful, got all of our orders correct and the food came out quite quickly. Drink: I HIGHLY recommend the mezcal bloody mary, it was my favorite part of the entire experience. I would come back just for that drink. Food: Everyone at the table was extremely happy with their food and was raving about it, except me lol The breakfast quesadilla is meh. The eggs were over cooked, not a lot of filling, and the filling was watery? Maybe from the veggies? Which doesn't make sense because there was barely anything other than egg in the quesadilla. The sauces didn't have a ton of flavor and the outside of the tortilla wasn't very crispy. I'm leaving 4 stars though because everyone else was extremely happy with their food and that mezcal bloody was fantastic. Super cute vibes and a great place to chill with family and friends.

We sat and waited for more than 40 minutes after our so called reservation. We were never asked if we wanted to sit upstairs or downstairs, but he was going to put us at a high top with two babies. That makes no sense at all! My neighbors were even there and asked for a downstairs table as they were elderly and couldn't get up the high stairs. They had to wait for almost an hour to get it. Unfortunately, we didn't even get to try the food, because the wait took so long. When I mentioned this to the manager, he literally yelled at us on our way out in front of everyone. What a wonderful memory of this place. He was a JERK. The place is adorable, but I would highly suggest to make sure you ask your customers if they want to sit upstairs or downstairs and their preferences before you decide to book a large group. Along with that, if you have people waiting for so long, at least offer them a water or something while they wait. I also heard from my Neighbors that their French toast was hard., the wait was long, and everything was overpriced for what you got. I would not suggest going here if you're looking to spend a half a day just waiting for just ok food.

Service was also friendly and super efficient, with food made quickly. We were also happy to see there was a steady crowd coming in on a Tuesday night and the staff had no problems making sure everyone was taken care of. We started with the Taste of Manila Egg Rolls because we were so excited to see that something lived on from that restaurant which we miss. The egg rolls were quite tasty and the slaw and sauce just pulled everything together. For our main meals we had the M&O Melt with onion rings and the Red Hot Spicy Clucker with fries. I was happy the the spicy chicken sandwich actually had some heat to it and was full of flavor. The fries were also nicely fried. The M&O Melt was also tasty, and the onion rings were a favorite. Fried nicely so that they had a crunchy bite. It's always a plus when the onion doesn't come out all at once or separate from the breading. These were quite tasty and we definitely recommend the curry ketchup. It added a whole new flavor dimension to the onion rings and fries. Overall, can't wait to try some more menu items next time we're in the area. Definitely recommend.
