Updating review. Bob L. I'm not sure what you are going on about, but you making accusations and coming at people & making assumptions is an interesting approach to save face. I know that this may surprise you, but I am not affiliated or friends with any band in this area. The only one I see "retaliating" here is you. I only expected basic good service & decent food. Your business is ran as such where you couldn't provide that & you get angry if you get a bad review. I could care less about what personal issues you have going forward. The Garage Bar & Grill is your typical loud dive bar with a tiny parking lot that serves basic bar eats & calls it a "restaurant grill" Our food was indeed basic, cold and none of my colleagues or I were made to feel welcome. We spent lots of money here and were treated like inconveniences. Across the board the staff here is unprofessional and rude. Management-owner doesn't care and acts like an immature clown. He can't handle anyone coming to him to report anything or he deflects like a narcissist who flips the blame and even lies to make the customer to be made out falsely. (Look at his past reviews he does it to countless people) I'm completely appalled by our visit and embarrassed that I chose this place to take my business partners to. We won't be back. read more

I have never had worst food or service ever! I ordered the bacon bourbon burger med rare and it was cooked past well done until it hd no life remaining. The waitress/ bar person was rude, never tried to make my visit enjoyable in any way. They should change the name to the Garbage!! We ventured to Wausau for lunch and the Packers game...because they were listed in the Old Fashioned Passport book. Their facebook page is full of delicious looking pictures and their menu is was drew us in. After a 1+ hour drive, we were hungry and thirsty - grabbing a high top table just off the bar. They have complementary popcorn and nachos - warm chips, nacho cheese and chilled jalapenos and salsa! How cool is that? They have an extensive tap beer list and the inside is decorated like a garage - a wrench shaped bar - wrench decorations and lots of natural light. We had some cheese curds as an appetizer and some boom boom chicken wings and before we knew it, our food had arrived for lunch. We played some darts, had free shots after Packers touchdowns and really enjoyed somewhere new. Super great place to visit if you are traveling through Wausau, too. read more

The absolute worst experience I ever had on multiple occasions giving this place a chance. The bartender was rude and disrespectful even when compliments were given. Was charged and paid for food that was not received on two separate occasions. Multiple people behind the bar talking and playing on their phones while waving at them and wanting another drink. Average bar experience. Plenty of TV's if you want to watch a game. Bar staff were friendly enough, food came out in a timely manner - angry chicken sandwich was good. Fair pricing. Atmosphere was decent. Probably won't be back but It'd truly help to have comfortable seating as silly as it may sound, would make a difference. We wanted to like this place, but the service, food, atmosphere were all terrible. The waitress was annoyed with any simple questions we had and more interested in eating her lunch at the other side of the bar. We were charged $2 extra for browned celery and ranch to go with our wings, and were not informed in advance. The extra charge for "smoked" wings tasted like liquid smoke, not actually smoked wings. The Mac and cheese ($2 up charge) tasted like Kraft, if you severely overcooked the noodles. They never brought the coleslaw for the shrimp basket, which was like breaded shrimp from Walmart dipped in the fryer. The Cubano wasn't good either; meat tasted old, swimming in gross sauce. The Garage has excellent food and wonderful service. Overall the ambiance is phenomenal.

The garage, while being small and having the worlds most uncomfortable seats has CHEAP drinks, good food, and a unique set up. It looks like a car garage exploded and there's car parts everywhere, even two "garage door" windows that open up during summer. The kitchen situation is very unique, all the food is cooked out back in a food truck type set up, may be a little discouraging to some but the main focus of this joint is the drinks and atmosphere. While the service was a little slow (granted it was busy in the small establishment due to a trivia night) and we had one sort of rude bartender, overall the staff were really friendly. The meal itself was pretty good. The pork had good flavor, some pieces were slightly burnt/overcooked but the flavor made up for that. The tater tots were my favorite! PERFECTLY crisp and delicious! The potato chips were also pretty good. I will probably be back for those cheap drinks and to try some more of their menu! read more

Ordered from DoorDash and this is not the dasher's fault. I ordered the chicken ranch wrap with fries. I'm in a hotel. They did not not give me any napkins or ketchup for the fries. The wrap was flavorless and fries soggy and undercooked. Horrible food. I worked in restaurants for 20yrs. Seems like a no brainer to give napkins and ketchup. The Garage has an obvious theme. Old car body parts adorn the ceiling and there's an entire car up in one corner. The wrench shaped logo is prevalent. Food is from a permanent food truck and is excellent. Local pizzas are available. Music videos and live sports are on multiple screens. The bar is open to the elements if it's warm enough, and there's a large patio outside with misters during hot weather. Nice spot just off Interstate 39. Try it, you'll like it. read more

Another example of substandard fare offered by the majority of Wausau restaurants. Ordered chicken strips and fries. This was nothing more than crappy frozen food off the back of a Sysco truck. Strips were mostly overcooked breading and the fries sucked. Waited an hour for delivery. Save your money and cook at home. It's sure to be better than what this place has to offer. read more

I can't say their bartenders actually know how to mix a drink given the amount of vermouth dumped in my cocktail, and I would never order food again. Think French dip that's 90% gristle, and bar food that's so mediocre you'll regret not going to Costco and buying frozen game day snacks. read more

My friends and I were having a wonderful time. We were trying to leave and pay our tab. My friend accidentally grabbed the wrong sweatshirt, and the manager came up to us and was trying to fight us. No harm no foul. The manager was trying to push us to get into a fight. The rest of my friends were trying to pay our tab, but couldn't because the manager and his friend were trying to start a fight with us. I would not recommend a place that is trying to start that stuff.... It made me want to go to church after going there. read more
