Great ambience, fun atmosphere. Reasonably priced and they don't charge a fee for credit card.

Food took eons to come. Staff are rude, music is too loud. We had to scream to hear each other. Not the experience we were hoping for so we ended up leaving. Posting update to my review for other Yelpers. I was here this weekend, not today 7-13-26. I only waited to give the business a review until today when I had more time. Bob L never comped my bill and he couldn't care less about how bad the customer service was this weekend, or making it right then, so . As for the loudness- Bob L. your underhanded digs are unprofessional. You are rude and it's not necessary over simple feedback that you could use to grow. You should also know better than to have music so loud to a point where patrons can't have a conversation. We were shouting at each other and had a hard time hearing. Think about working on your attitude when it comes to those that ennable your business to stay open- because I can see where the main problems here started. Maturity and respect is a must if you want to be taken seriously in the real world. read more

I went to the garage last night with a group of my friends to celebrate a birthday. We ordered A late dinner around 8 o'clock. Upon receiving our food, we were assaulted by the manager/owner of the Bar. He served us our food and demanded to see our IDs claiming we were under age, We showed him our IDs. He was not happy that we were in fact of age and he was wrong, He then proceeded to kick us out of the bar and spilt our food all over my group, ruining clothes, shoes, and his integrity. I would only recommend this place to my deepest enemies Or to people that enjoy being part of food, fights, and getting assaulted by operational staff. The owner/manager also seems to be high on drugs/methamphetamines, I think this is what fueled his rage. Photos are attached showing the owner and Manager putting their hands on Customers and showing the food that they had both spilled all over us. No refunds were given no food was eaten read more

Terrible. Absolutely terrible. Food was alright, nachos were stale, and flies were swarming our food. Even saw a bartender swat one on the bar and not wipe it or clean it up. Place smells terrible and everything is extremely over priced. Long story short, would not recommend. read more

I have never had worst food or service ever! I ordered the bacon bourbon burger med rare and it was cooked past well done until it hd no life remaining. The waitress/ bar person was rude, never tried to make my visit enjoyable in any way. They should change the name to the Garbage!! I ordered the loaded baked potato and they brought me a microwave, plain potato with nothing and then argued with me. When I said I ordered the loaded baked potato 20 minutes later they brought me a little dish with some cheese, sour cream, and a couple pieces of bacon horrible read more

We ventured to Wausau for lunch and the Packers game...because they were listed in the Old Fashioned Passport book. Their facebook page is full of delicious looking pictures and their menu is was drew us in. After a 1+ hour drive, we were hungry and thirsty - grabbing a high top table just off the bar. They have complementary popcorn and nachos - warm chips, nacho cheese and chilled jalapenos and salsa! How cool is that? They have an extensive tap beer list and the inside is decorated like a garage - a wrench shaped bar - wrench decorations and lots of natural light. We had some cheese curds as an appetizer and some boom boom chicken wings and before we knew it, our food had arrived for lunch. We played some darts, had free shots after Packers touchdowns and really enjoyed somewhere new. Super great place to visit if you are traveling through Wausau, too. read more

The absolute worst experience I ever had on multiple occasions giving this place a chance. The bartender was rude and disrespectful even when compliments were given. Was charged and paid for food that was not received on two separate occasions. Multiple people behind the bar talking and playing on their phones while waving at them and wanting another drink. In addition to the terrible experience from the staff. The food is overpriced for what it is. read more

Average bar experience. Plenty of TV's if you want to watch a game. Bar staff were friendly enough, food came out in a timely manner - angry chicken sandwich was good. Fair pricing. Atmosphere was decent. Probably won't be back but It'd truly help to have comfortable seating as silly as it may sound, would make a difference. The chairs were slippery and uncomfortable, I personally wouldn't be able to sit through a full football game at the garage. read more

Where do you begin First walking in the front door diagonal bar, a car hanging over your right shoulder, hood the Fords, back window of Chevy. Tonight was live music, and Sara behind the bar., incredibly friendly, but most importantly she made every patron feel special , and very welcome. As most know service first get the best review, keep it up the best service. Food review let's start off by the food runner as she handed you your food a smile appeared on her face ! Check off list on the menu to order great concept. Everything had great flavor. Awesome selection of beer. read more

We wanted to like this place, but the service, food, atmosphere were all terrible. The waitress was annoyed with any simple questions we had and more interested in eating her lunch at the other side of the bar. We were charged $2 extra for browned celery and ranch to go with our wings, and were not informed in advance. The extra charge for "smoked" wings tasted like liquid smoke, not actually smoked wings. The Mac and cheese ($2 up charge) tasted like Kraft, if you severely overcooked the noodles. They never brought the coleslaw for the shrimp basket, which was like breaded shrimp from Walmart dipped in the fryer. The Cubano wasn't good either; meat tasted old, swimming in gross sauce. Flies kept swarming our legs for some reason the whole time. 0/10. read more

Food was great - drinks were great Ambiance was pretty cool - garage doors were open and we watched The Badgers on 10 different T.Vs Pretty good service read more

The Garage has excellent food and wonderful service. Overall the ambiance is phenomenal.

The garage, while being small and having the worlds most uncomfortable seats has CHEAP drinks, good food, and a unique set up. It looks like a car garage exploded and there's car parts everywhere, even two "garage door" windows that open up during summer. The kitchen situation is very unique, all the food is cooked out back in a food truck type set up, may be a little discouraging to some but the main focus of this joint is the drinks and atmosphere. While the service was a little slow (granted it was busy in the small establishment due to a trivia night) and we had one sort of rude bartender, overall the staff were really friendly. The meal itself was pretty good. The pork had good flavor, some pieces were slightly burnt/overcooked but the flavor made up for that. The tater tots were my favorite! PERFECTLY crisp and delicious! The potato chips were also pretty good. I will probably be back for those cheap drinks and to try some more of their menu! read more

The Garage - Smoked BBQ Sandy - Bars Near Me - Wausau, Wisconsin

Ordered from DoorDash and this is not the dasher's fault. I ordered the chicken ranch wrap with fries. I'm in a hotel. They did not not give me any napkins or ketchup for the fries. The wrap was flavorless and fries soggy and undercooked. Horrible food. I worked in restaurants for 20yrs. Seems like a no brainer to give napkins and ketchup. Not to mention make food that is good. read more

The Garage has an obvious theme. Old car body parts adorn the ceiling and there's an entire car up in one corner. The wrench shaped logo is prevalent. Food is from a permanent food truck and is excellent. Local pizzas are available. Music videos and live sports are on multiple screens. The bar is open to the elements if it's warm enough, and there's a large patio outside with misters during hot weather. Nice spot just off Interstate 39. Try it, you'll like it. read more

Checked this place out while in town for skiing. Fun atmosphere to watch the Packers. They play the game audio which is always a good vibe to watch with. Friendly staff, big crowd and they have a shuttle service. Drinks were fairly priced read more

Another example of substandard fare offered by the majority of Wausau restaurants. Ordered chicken strips and fries. This was nothing more than crappy frozen food off the back of a Sysco truck. Strips were mostly overcooked breading and the fries sucked. Waited an hour for delivery. Save your money and cook at home. It's sure to be better than what this place has to offer. read more

Was excited to visit The Garage for lunch and a drink but was greatly disappointed. Waited for 20-25 minutes at the bar and were never served so we left. Will not be returning. read more

I can't say their bartenders actually know how to mix a drink given the amount of vermouth dumped in my cocktail, and I would never order food again. Think French dip that's 90% gristle, and bar food that's so mediocre you'll regret not going to Costco and buying frozen game day snacks. read more

excellent experience, couldn't have asked for more. Jacob was fantastic, he wasn't even on the clock and provided excellent service. 10/10 recommend. read more

My friends and I were having a wonderful time. We were trying to leave and pay our tab. My friend accidentally grabbed the wrong sweatshirt, and the manager came up to us and was trying to fight us. No harm no foul. The manager was trying to push us to get into a fight. The rest of my friends were trying to pay our tab, but couldn't because the manager and his friend were trying to start a fight with us. I would not recommend a place that is trying to start that stuff.... It made me want to go to church after going there. read more
