Views from the Florence room.

We spent our 20th Wedding Anniversary at this wonderful lodge and supper club. Stay in the Florence room, beautiful views of Lake Nokomis. Our meal was amazing, however the best part of this gem are the people that work here. Jacob the lodging manager was so helpful and had a beautiful fruit and bread tray waiting for us in our room. Zoey our server for dinner was AMAZING. Highly recommend this nostalgic getaway!!!

Walleye carpaccio. The best appetizer I've ever eaten north of Highway 8.

Bootleggers Lodge is the kind of restaurant I've been looking for in the Northwoods of Wisconsin. North of Highway 29 "upscale dinning" is mostly confined to rustic supper clubs serving the same old menus that they've been serving since I was a child in the 1950's. Bootleggers provides a classic supper club ambiance with a menu that caters to those seeking something a cut above the ordinary. Consider the dishes we ordered for our first course -- Walleye Carpaccio and Lobster Gazpacho. As I said in the caption to my photo, the carpaccio was the best appetizer I've eaten north of Highway 8, and not only that, I'd put it up against some that I've had at Michelin starred restaurants. It's probably not for everyone, but if you like sashimi or the lightly cured seafood in a ceviche, you'll probably enjoy it. I only had a small taste of my wife's gazpacho but the flavor was bright and refreshing and there was a just the right amount of lobster meat for a fist course offering. My main course was more of a classic -- steak, baked potato and some steamed broccoli -- but the Wagyu flatiron kicked it up a notch from the ordinary. My wife ordered the seared scallops with locally sourced pasta. The scallops were large, nicely seared yet cooked through without turning rubbery. For dessert we shared a peaches and cream paired with a dessert wine that our server suggested would go well with the peaches -- it did. It was not very busy the night we were there. We were tended to in a timely and professional manner, and I enjoyed a moment of conversation with the director of food and events as we departed. I reviewed the current menu in conjunction with writing this review and I see a bunch of new offerings -- so I guess I'm going back to give them a try.

This place is beautiful, the food is consistently excellent, and the servers are super friendly. On our most recent visit the service was slower than usual, which is why I gave it a four instead of a five. It took quite a long time for us to get served at the bar before we sat at our table. We were hoping to have full drinks when our entrees arrived, but we had to wait for a while to order them. I think they were a bit short staffed. That being said, we tried some new entrees and everything was delicious. The swordfish special was the standout of the evening, the filet was cooked perfectly, and the crème brûlée was some of the best we have ever had. They have a beautiful bar and outside patio. Be sure to make a reservation and ask for a table by the windows in the bar. Enjoy a cocktail in the eagle's nest leather booths overlooking the lake while waiting for your table. Definitely an expensive dinner for the area but a perfect spot for a special occasion.

Service and atmosphere were fantastic. Food was good, especially the French onion soup, bruschetta, prime rib, and rosemary butter! Wine and martini were perfect but beer list was wanting for more seasonal choices. Would definitely go back and next time I'll save room for dessert!!

Enjoyed the Friday night fish fry! Started with the cheese curds, which were very good. Chose the fried fish, which comes with a choice of baked potato or fries. It was tasty & a good value at $15. Other fish fry options included broiled for $20 or walleye for $25. Very nice lodge ambiance. We will return.

Nice spot! Great environment, with friendly staff. The food itself wasn't amazing, but you come for the vibes. The beer was good!

Very slow and inattentive service. Food was just ok. I wouldn't return at that price point. Disappointing for such a beautiful space.

To start with, the place is very cool on the inside. It has an amazing antique bar, and just as the…read morename says, boat memorabilia everywhere. The staff was terrific, too. Our server, Leah, was very pleasant and met our every need. I'm extremely picky about tartar sauce and she brought me out plenty to try and then when I loved it, more to enjoy with their excellent fries. I thought it was the best I've ever had in a restaurant. We all enjoyed our meal and my daughter loved her Fettuccine Alfredo especially. My walleye sandwich was incredible, too, especially since that tartar sauce was so phenomenal. One thing that really caught my eye was how hard the hostess was working. I don't think I've ever seen someone of her generation with such an amazing work ethic. It was kind of fun to watch her do her thing. If I had a company of my own locally, I would definitely be working to hire her. I didn't get her name, a d she looked awfully young to own the place. She acted as if she did, however. Amazing!

Off season = under 30 min wait with a great drink !!…read more Came here for the fish fry. It did not disappoint!! I will say my kid ate his weight in the breadsticks and cheese appetizer. A great Wisconsin staple. Husband and kid both got the fried cod. I got the broiled (so happy for that option as I love fish just can't do the breading). Everything was hot and delicious. Baked potatoes were delish and huge !! The bar has a great selection of tap beer and I also had a great cranberry vodka (from northwater distillery) that had a little spice to it with diet sprite (thanks for having diet!!)
