Z's was pretty good several owners ago but not anymore. I ordered onion rings, a 2 piece chicken dinner (the chicken was supposed to be one white piece, one dark) and home fries. The onion rings tasted burnt, also the home fries were brown on the outside and raw on the inside which says the fryer oil was too hot. The chicken dinner was one thigh and one leg. I guess I got a break on the chicken as the menu states $1.00 extra for all dark meat or all white meat. I got all dark without spending the extra buck but I really expected a breast and one dark piece. This was the worst meal I have eaten in a restaurant in a long time and we will NEVER go back to this poor excuse for a restaurant. Absolutely crappy experience. read more

First time visitors on a Saturday afternoon. Seated immediately. Setting/decor tasteful and comfortable. Friendly capable service. I had prime rib sandwich and sidewinder fries. Really good-too much to finish so I took home half for leftovers. Companion had steak sandwich with sidewinder fries. He did not care for his. Did not think it was a tenderloin steak sandwich. This was an off the Beaton path quaint family run supper club. Good food, good service in a good old fashion supper club atmosphere. We arrived at 4 on a Saturday & Immediately were seated & orders were taken. All 3 of us ordered the smaller cut prime rib. We were served a quality salad with a choice of potatoe & prime rib. Old fashion drink was served in a tall glass with a variety of beer choices. Summer shanty was my choice after a long gravel bike ride from their parking lot. They had outdoor seating which was available with an outdoor bathroom. All very clean & tidy. We will be back. Loved the 4-h steer awards that were displayed from a hard working personal family. The fish fry and prime rib are the best in the area. My only complaint is that if you add mushrooms, they come from a can instead of sautéed fresh. I will drive 30 min to enjoy their food. My family really likes the sour cream and chive fries and sidewinders as a side. Always a great experience and delicious! read more

Went for a fish fry a few weeks back. Very crowded but a fun Friday kind of crowd! Seated quickly, very friendly, attentive waitstaff. Food was excellent, not much of a wait considering how busy they were. A little off the beaten path but worth the drive. read more

We went tonight for drinks and dinner. My friends have been telling me how good it was- and it was! The dining room and bar are comfortable and clean. The prime rib was outstanding!!! Tender, great portion, cooked to perfection(med. rare) and tasted so good. We enjoyed visiting with folks at the bar but didn't win "shake of the day". We'll be back with our family! read more

This place is a hidden gem of the northwoods. Great atmosphere, outstanding service and amazing food. I highly recommend their burgers. In my opinion, they are the best burgers in Central Wisconsin. The drinks are affordable and the food is reasonable. They have changed ownership recently, but they still have the same great menu and staff. read more

First time after hearing about many times. Went there on UTV today. Excellent food and value. I would say gourmet sandwiches. They had a chicken special that looked great from what I saw others having. Very clean and updated including bathrooms. Service was great. The outside is kinda nondescript, but when you are off the beaten path it's a destination visit anyway. read more

Terrible service. Appetizer came late with the meal. I gently asked to return it since we had our food and it was late(onion rings turn to mush when you bring them home). She did send it back but charged ne for it. When I questioned the bill she proceeded to argue with me stating, " I tried to get you to leave it on your table. Sometimes appetizers come with the meal." No. They don't. When I asked for the manager I was told no one was there. I worked in restaurants. A Friday night manager is always there. Had to come out to this business twice to get a decent meal. The first time was for the two dollar burger deal. It was one of the worst burgers I have ever ate. When they a asked about the burger I told then it was not good and they where unhappy that I said that. Left a review on there Facebook with positive and the negative. They erased it. The new owners don't take constructive criticism very will at all. So I went back now for a second time with my wife. The meal was better. But very poor attitude by the owners, not very welcoming at all. Also this business does not have pizza fries and no decent top tier liquor even though they are charging top tier prices. read more

I think the food is pretty good especially given the choices in the area. Kids devour the pizza...sidewinder fries are delish, fish fry is pretty good, funnel fries are great just needs more powdered sugar. I don't care too much for their broasted chicken though, it doesn't have much of a flavor and the buck nuts were mediocre. We do take out from here frequently. read more

This is an amazing place, on a rural highway in Gleason, Wisconsin. They offer a different daily special every day and have an amazing traditional Wisconsin fish fry every Friday. Everyone in the area talks about how great this place is and they are right. The locals know each other and meet there and people come from all over the area to enjoy the great food. Went there for Prime Rib, it was the pre-heated kind was not impressed. Service was very slow and not a good experience.

You can't go wrong at Z's. The food is great. The owners are nice. The staff is friendly. The prices are fair. And they even have Blatz in the cooler. Well worth the detour. read more
