I came here at the end of a road trip to Tomahawk and it was a great way to end the trip! I ordered the fried chicken sandwich with a side of potato soup. If I were to go again, I would try the coleslaw instead of the soup, only because of how thick the soup was. The fried chicken sandwich was good! I was not expecting the slice of American cheese on it, but it was surprisingly good! I also topped my sandwich with the lettuce, pickles, and tomato provided and added lots of Tabasco because I prefer a spicy sandwich. I also had a bite of pancakes - they were unreal! Definitely get a stack. Service was good. We got there are it's peak busy hours and we're seated quickly! Overall, I would go again! It was a fun place. read more

Found the place completely by accident while driving through. Very friendly staff, owner put the Bears game on a well-positioned TV for me without me even asking. Good food. The potato soup and chicken dumpling were both great, had a fantastic malt and grilled cheese, wife and I were quite happy with the whole experience. read more

Owner/boss treated our waitress very poorly in front of customers. We asked for a to go cup and he started yelling at her for giving us a cup. A simple " I'm sorry we don't give out to go cups unless you pay an addition $3.00 for your drink" would have been just fine. She had already served the drink, and we felt he was extremely angry enough with this simple mistake that we quickly offered to pay for the drink. Overall the food was ok, omelettes are on the small side. Cheese doesn't come in the western omelette unless you pay more for cheese. Hash browns could have been cooked more. The Toast was burnt. The Pancakes were fluffy and tasty. Very good coffee. read more

Meh... Food was decent, nothing great..same with the service. Asked for waters..our waitress never brought it. . Had to ask another one to bring it. Good homemade chicken rice soup... he had the beefy cabbage soup, and really liked it, too. We both had the chopped steak dinner.. Homemade mashed potatoes were great. NOW THE REAL BAD STUFF: one of the waitresses was wearing gym shoes, but no socks!? Hello??? Isn't that a health code thing?? And the window blinds.. are sooooo dusty & dirty!! Eww. If we didn't have such a hard time finding a restaurant that was opened on a Monday, we probably would've left, just for that!! Well, at least it was non smoking. read more

Run of the mill diner type place similar to a Perkins or Denny's. Trust me, skip those two and come here. Food isn't to die for, but plenty good and large portions. Plus their coffee is pretty tasty too and that says a lot! What surprised about here was the service. You could tell they were busy and servers were running around, but my order arrived very quickly and staff was very friendly. Got a table and then went to the restroom to wash my hands before eating. There was a lady in the other stall smoking. Sat back down at table. Local guy sitting in the next booth had his arm draped over the back of my booth, so I had to lean forward for 10 minutes until he turned around and took his arm with him into his own booth. Waitress was very good. Lots of windows in there for some nice, natural light. My burger seemed a little off and was obviously a formed mass produced patty from the freezer and it was swimming in pickle juice. I was asked if I wanted onion. I said yes, and got a whole huge slab of an onion, wow, as big as the actual burger patty. Luckily I like onions, so that was fine with me. The 1000 Island dressing on the side looked to be very, very old. Fries are crinkle cut. I felt unwell after I left. I felt worse a few hours later. By that night, I was projectile pucking all over my bathroom with a severe headache. So, yes, I think my burger WAS a little off... Thanks Family Restaurant. read more

This place was straight out of Restaurant Nightmares. As soon as you walk in the door the smell of fried food overwhelms you. The menu is way too long. They have at least three sections of sandwiches, wraps, breakfast, and Mexican food. I couldn't find any soup though. Offering this many things requires too many ingredients in hand, and lowers the chance of the ingredients being fresh. The smell made me crave some onion rings. My fiancé ordered the nachos. The onion rings were cold, I wish I knew how that happened. The ketchup on the table was "Fancy Table Ketchup" which is unacceptable to a Pittsburgh native. The nachos were topped with melted shredded cheese, ground beef, refried beens and olives. It was served with sides of salsa and sour cream. Nothing was fresh. The olives were out of place. The salsa was gross, and possibly past expiration. And if all that didn't dissuade you, the service is also very slow. read more

Our family (me, husband, toddler and baby) made the error of stopping by this restaurant on April 12 instead of going to McDonald's while on a 5 hour drive. There aren't a lot of choices in Tomahawk...but let me advise you that Pizza Hut or McDonald's would be better options. When we walked in, we were greeted by a waitress who was very unhappy to be helping us at all. She brought us a food-encrusted, sticky high chair. The carpeted floors were COVERED in food pieces, opened butter packets, etc. I actually told my husband we should probably leave after seeing how filthy the entire restaurant was...but we had already ordered some soda and milk so we didn't. My menu was so sticky that I had to peel apart each page. (like a carafe of syrup was dumped on it) The menu is huge...which is a red flag at a family restaurant. (quality over quantity anyone?) My toddler's milk came in a to-go soup container with an awkward cover and straw. We ordered mozzarella cheese sticks, dumpling soup, roast beef and pulled pork sandwiches. the waitress seemed put off that we weren't ordering a kids meal for our toddler. the mozzarella sticks were good. (from freezer to fryer...hard to mess that up) my pulled pork sandwich tasted rancid (seriously) I didn't eat any of it but the waitress never asked why. my husband's sandwich was gross too. the dumpling soup was good...but we had to ask for it twice because the waitress kept forgetting to bring it. we ended up paying our bill and eating McDonald's ice cream for lunch. My top concern for this place is the absolute filth. I can't imagine what the kitchen looks like when the dining room was covered in food. 2 days later, I'm thankful that we don't have food poisoning. read more
