I visited this restaurant over the holiday and witnessed a scene that was extremely uncomfortable and unprofessional. In my experience I've never seen a "Manager" / "Owner" of such an establishment bully a customer before until that day. I watched Trish kneel down at a table and get in a lady's face and without asking any questions on what happened, start reprimanding her on where shes from and how she act's. Saying "that's not how we do things here" with so much aggression cutting the poor lady off she couldn't even respond let alone explain what's going on. And she handled it with so much grace, still leaving a 20 tip. It was a complete misunderstanding that was entirely worthy of an apology had any of the staff cared to correct it. The waitress of that table stood behind the counter gossiping about them and the other waitresses took turns looking over and whispering while smirking until they left. What I saw happen was, the waitress forgot to put their order in and never checked in with them for an hour, and when asked about it was offended by the customers who responded in disappointment. A minute later a Manager (Trish) angrily confronts a local regular, assuming they were from out of town. If trish had seen the full thing there is no way she would have harassed this customer in her face like that. Regardless I can't recommend a place that operates in hostility, nor lacks that much communication through staff and customers let alone basic respect. It is beyond disappointing in service, quality, and experience. read more

We were a family of 7. We ate there on July 4th arriving around 6:45 p.m. They were busy but not a packed house by any means. We sat outside. We waited nearly 1 1/2 hours or so total for our food. We kept the kids busy down by the water. Not once did our waitress explain the lengthy wait. I finally asked our waitress after waiting a little over an hour, why it was taking so long and wondered if our food would be out soon. She said she would check. She never came back to let us know what was going on. Instead, she served a pizza to a couple who came in long after us and said, yours should be out soon. Ours came about 20 minutes after that. As multiple tables received their food and people who arrived after us had come and gone while we still waited, it was beyond frustrating. We finally got our food. The food was good. Then, we got the bill. We were charged an automatic gratuity. When we confronted the manager, who gave us the bill, she stated it was their policy. When we flipped the napkin holder around on the table to show her that it was in fact NOT their policy and the policy clearly states a party of 8 or more would be charged, she got upset and huffed and went to fix the bill. As we signed the credit card receipt, she and others stood over us and watched. When we did not leave a tip, they asked if we were proud? We explained quietly and calmly, that we have never had such terrible all around service and we were more than patient for way too long. Then, when we were charged the tip and she was irritated at us? Why? Is that how you run your establishment and treat people? We did nothing but wait for our food and ask once where the food was. No one explained once why it took our specific table that long. However, when we left no tip, you, miss manager, got just livid. After standing over us to see if we were leaving a tip or how much we were leaving, you lost it! You told us it was the 4th and it was busy and people didn't want to work on the Holiday. Remember every other table received their food and had came and went while we waited. We did not argue with her or raise our voices and instead we walked to our vehicles. Our adult children were behind d us and they were met by a man with a Castaway shirt on. We have no idea if he was the owner, a patron or what. He was cursing our children out and told us to never come to this restaurant again. Worst experience we have a ever had at any restaurant ever! Communication and class from the workers would have made this a whole different story. read more

Shannon was our server and she did an excellent job in greeting us and helping us with the outstanding menu! We ordered the rueben and it tased fantastic! Old fashions were tasty and muddled perfectly! Castaways inside really looked north woodsy and had a great feel! Where we were seated overlooked a beautiful lake! Looking forward to going back for the Fish Fry on Friday! read more

If you head here to enjoy a delicious fish fry (haddock or perch) be sure to arrive very early on a Friday if that's your plan because this place is a very popular Fish Fry spot among locals. You can dine inside or outside on the patio when the weather is nice and enjoy a water view of both Lake Mohawksin and the Wisconsin River at either spot. The atmosphere is relaxed, the service is 10/10, the food is delicious, and the overall theme is lake life. Highly, highly, highly recommend the grilled cheese. We enjoyed the beer at Castaways, but unfortunately the food wasn't our favorite. The chicken salad sandwich didn't taste right, and was quite wet. The bread itself tasted stale as well. Good spot for drinks, but if I were to go back I would probably pass on the food. read more

Bob & I stopped by to check out the new Castaways Bar & Grill during their soft open. The bar, dining room & kitchen has been fully renovated. Trish, Greg & their crew did a wonderful job!! The food & drinks were exceptional!! They are developing their nightly specials...Wednesdays from open to close is "Ladies Night" $3 wine & 1/2 price appetizers. The food has been amazing every time we've eaten there. Can't wait to see what specials the other nights will have!! The also have gluten free options! So awesome as they're right on Lake Mohawksin!! read more

Had the bourbon burger with onion rings on top. Rings were lukewarm and hamburger was overcooked.

We had a delicious afternoon meal. Two in the party had the 3 tacos meal and were able to choose the protein they wanted for each taco. The others in the party had the Phillycheesesteak sandwich and the club sandwich. Nice portions of food. Service was great. We ate in the room that had windows facing the lake.
