I'd like to give grace in the fact that there appeared to be only one waitress, and I know staffing is difficult- however, how this experience was handled was far from ideal. Our party of 4 arrived and sat down immediately- a few tables had guests but did not seem overwhelming in the number of people between the bar and dining area. The waitress was hustling- but came over in a reasonable amount of time to take our drink order (5-10 minutes)- waters all around so super easy. We received our waters - and then waited-and waited- and waited. While we were waiting, tables cleared and we were the only ones left in the dining area until another group of four walked in-(30 minutes after we had our drink order taken) The waitress apologized and said the kitchen had been really backed up as she took the new group's drink order. When she returned, she took our order (2 hamburgers, mini corn dogs and a pizza) AND the new group's order. A half hour later, still with our two tables being the only tables - the waitress delivered the other table their food. So although our party was seated first, and had been waiting over a half hour at the point of the order being taken, the other table's order went in first. So we are now going on over an hour without food, and no one else seated in the dining room. We again waited, and waited and waited- and watched the other table FINISH their meal - and still no food. The waitress at this point was not even looking our way. Almost two hours in and no food, no acknowledgement and no apologies- we finally got up and left-embarrassed that we would have been treated in such a fashion and yet had continued to wait. I've never gotten up and left a restaurant before in my life but the fact that we had only ordered waters allowed us to not have to settle a bill - and at that point we were so angry it was best just to leave. So many things could have been done to make this experience better- even if there was a wait. Apologies go a long way- offer of free drinks or appetizers. It at the end felt almost purposeful - as the waitress and the bartender were on their phones as we walked out and never even looked up.
