More like a 4.6 -Ordering is a little confusing - but the food is so fantastic we've been here a couple times they have a unusual options with smoked meat sandwiches and a poke bar - I would say the place feels more like a hipster coffee shop than a smokehouse deli but not on a bad way. So, as a first time customer, I was a bit confused when I walked in. It was obvious that CT's was not a "sit down" establishment, but it was equally ambiguous about how to proceed. Fortunately the cashier immediately recognized our confusion and inquired, "Is this your first time here?" And then quickly, but clearly, she explained their system which included placing your order with her and then picking it up at one of their prep stations, or selecting something from their readymade options and then returning to pay at the cashier's counter. Now that I know how it works, our next visit will be a breeze. We were looking for a light lunch so I decided to go with a freshly prepared sandwich - an avocado egg salad sandwich on toasted whole wheat. It was really green - which might not be the most appetizing color for an egg salad - but the balance of egg, avocado and herbs (including cilantro) was just right. The salad was creamy and well seasoned. The bread was under-toasted - I like to see some nice golden-brown on the surface and not just a toasted texture on a slice of bread. My dining companion took a readymade Italian sandwich which he enjoyed. While it skewed generic, it was obviously prepared the day it was sold. All in all we were satisfied with our lunch. Now that I know their system, I'm anxious to return to try the rest of their menu. While my initial rating is "average," that could easily go up. Especially because we don't have many classic deli options in the Northwoods of Wisconsin. BTW - the deli restaurant is integrated with a full service bar which is accessible through a portal into the next door building. I'll have to check that out later. read more

This place is absolutely phenomenal all around. The food is some of the best I've ever had, the indoor eating area and patio are great, and love the grab and go store also. The staff is delightful and we visit this place every year we come to Rhinelander. I cannot express how good everything is prepared. If you don't like CT's Deli, either you've hit a REALLY bad day or there is something wrong with you. Pastrami is some of the best you'll find, not thin sliced like NYC but some chunks and you can taste the amazing bark. Wow. You can order at a couple different locations, or just sit at the bar in Wisconsin style and have a drink (or some...) while you wait. The turkey sandwich is also amazing, and pretty much everything here will bring me back. There's arguably a bit of a "Hipster" vibe, but CT's Deli is one of the best - probably THE best - dining option in downtown Rhinelander if you appreciate an amazing sandwich. Bravo! read more

Great spot for a tasty, casual lunch in downtown Rhinelander. CT's is a lot bigger than it might look from the outside - there's a full bar area, a casual deli counter, bakery and a nice amount of seating. In terms of food, they have tons of sandwich options (hot and cold), three soups including a bratwurst cheese, and a good number of salads. The mister went for a brisket sandwich and I had an excellent Italian beef with nice spicy giardinera. Prices are reasonable, food comes up quickly (you order at a counter and they call your name) and if you want a Caesar salad with a shot of Fireball you can sit in the bar and do just that. Let me start with you must read the signs as you enter. Luckily for me, I read everything. When you walk in, follow the signs to order at the bar. Everyone seemed ok. I ordered a double of jack Daniels and coke along with a sandwich and a side of mac n cheese. I wasn't really looking forward to eating a sandwich but I'm not from the area and the five stars is what brought me here. I was originally across the street at another restaurant and they couldn't even give a menu while serving everyone food around me, that's what also led me here. But then it seems the locals know something I don't. I didn't see no wings on the menu! I would've gladly ordered some wings. I probably would've ordered extra wings because I was so hungry. The sandwich was ok. But my issue was that they never brought me no napkins at all, not even utensils. What was I supposed to do? Eat the Mac n cheese with my hands? I don't even live here so there's no Utensils at the hotel. But I shouldn't have to rely on the hotel to get utensils. But I sure did walk to my car and ate the Mac n cheese with my hands like a whole cave man. While others around me had napkins, I couldn't see if they had utensils. If not, they would've got five starts from me. But yet I'm a better man than them, because tho the waiter didn't deserve it, I still gave her 15% tip. Because I'm different. We grabbed some sandwiches to go while in town for a hockey tournament. We typically end up eating junk fast food or pizza (common fare for kids' hockey trips). CT's Deli is great! Needing a little sustenance for our drive home we stopped in and got lunch! The interior ambience was fun, the outside patio was lovely with the flowers and the food was exceptionally tasty. They offered a number of gluten free items including the tasty brisket which had had a lovely little smoke ring and the simple yet delicious wild rice salad which I want to make! My husband loved the macaroni and cheese with pulled pork in a box as well as the beer cheese soup. The portions were significant and the prices were very, very reasonable! We also liked that our pup was welcome to join us on the patio. Be aware: they close early (6pm-ish) and serve only a few items after 4pm. read more
