Garden omelette with fresh tomatoes
Wesley F.

A wonderful brunch at the Pine Grove Restaurant. This really is a gem not to miss. My wife had the garden omelette which was delicious and perfect, I had the "Big Breakfast" with chipped beef sausage gravy and biscuits, country sausage, bacon, scrambled eggs and home fries. So good! Five stars!

This was a nice homey spot to come right after a long hike. When you walk in, it feels like you're walking into a country living room. I'm the atmosphere was very chilly and I probably could have taken a nap if it was appropriate. I got the grilled cheese and the apple pie. Both were safe options. I think my only critique for this place is that the menu didn't have a lot of options so I only really went with the grilled cheese because it seemed to be the only option for me and it didn't even come with an option for its normal companion of tomato soup. Maybe a piece of advice for the Chef would be to consider livening up the menu a tad or at least offer tomato soup with your grilled cheese.

I wouldn't even give this establishment a star but I had to put something. I hate writing a review like this but wow was it bad. The service was just fine but the atmosphere and the food were horrific. I was sitting elbow distance to another table who coughed the whole time. My burger had mold on the bun (picture attached below) and the burger was cold. My friend ordered mac & cheese which was just noodles with cheese on top. I was so disappointed and I will not be returning ever.

Home style country cooking. Staff is so friendly, restaurant is quaint, and food is high quality and tastes delicious. You can tell everything is homemade. I got the creamed chip beef and would definitely get again!

This was our first visit. Despite the obsession with the former guy, they didn't push politics, just great food. The staff was amazingly friendly and knowledgeable. Even though it is out of the way, it is completely worth the trip. We will be making the journey again real soon!

Cute local restaurant! They even sell local fresh eggs. It was pretty empty when we went in, so service was very attentive and pretty quick. This would be a great place to eat on a nice day as they have some great outdoor seating. Only taking one star off because they don't take credit cards, which was not clear to me until the bill came. Luckily they accept checks and have an ATM machine.

Giving this 4 stars for the category of restaurant it's in ($). The breakfast was good, nice fresh sliced home fries, a western omelette with authentic VA sliced ham, and friendly and quick enough service. We are not local, but picked this place because we read on Facebook that outdoor dining is available. In COVID era this is a consideration of ours. After being seated outside we noticed that tables are not spaced 6 ft apart and the waitress (while friendly and fast) did not wear a mask. Upon exit we also noticed a Trump sign on the door... sooo... if you mix politics with pancakes you may not want to eat here. On the merit of the food, service and price only I would recommend and return.

It's like a Cracker Barrell, only authentic! Small and cozy, with decent food and super-friendly service.

Awesome breakfast food, lunch & dinner good too. Great prices. Cash only, but there is an ATM on location, so no excuses not to go.

So we thought, let's get an early lunch on the way out. The entire staff was amazing and the food was so good that we joked and said we would be back for dinner on the way home. Well it seems like we were serious and after a little shopping and wine we went back for dinner. We walked into the warmest greeting from everyone we saw at lunch. We even had an opportunity to meet the nicest gentleman named Wally (we assumed he was the owner). We have never been treated more special! The food for dinner was amazing again. Great food and service is such a rare thing. This place has it down to an art form. We can't wait to go back soon. Thank you Wally and the staff! BTW, this restaurant is ranked 78th in the entire country by Yelp, so well deserved!!

I had the steak and it was OK. I came craving steak and was surprised to see a Brazilian preparation on such a limited steak menu. I'm a purist when it comes to steak,?and preferred not to have any sauce on it so I chose the strip which still had some form of steak sauce I found the meat itself without flavor. Service was amazing. The architecture of the restaurant was also beautiful, although they could use some slight renovation like the very worn seats of the booths. I would eat there again.

We were led to a back dining room with a nice large window to the patio and comfy half booths. Our Server, Braxton and his colleagues were SO AMAZING! No pics but the Fried Green Tomatoes, Onion Rings, Philly Steak and Cheese Eggrolls and Loaded Deviled Eggs were ALL divinely delicious! Our entrees were the Hawaiian Pork Bowl, Bourbon and Coke Meatloaf, Chicken and Waffles and Chopped Steak. So many options that were each unique and executed perfectly! At this point we aren't about to let Dessert pass us by! My son and I ordered the Blue Lagoon Bread Pudding (in honor of Shark Week), others in our party had the Strawberry Rhubarb Pie and Carrot Cake. The most exquisite ending to our meal.
