Great Breakfast Stop! Inside smelled like a bar (Smokey) but it was super clean and newly renovated in the front eating area. Great French toast with a huge portion. This is one of those places you're either going to love or hate. Service is excellent and beer is cold. For a bar menu it's pretty extensive but if you're looking for a decent sit down meal you could get better for your money elsewhere. I was quite shocked our bill was $70 for a shared appetizer, two salads, tea, and two drinks. We had to sit on the patio as the smoke smell inside is overwhelming even in the non smoking section. I could see this being a really fun hangout spot if I could tolerate the smoke. I'm sure we'll give it another try sometime and I'll update then, but for now I'm not dying to go back. read more

We had a pretty good breakfast today at Lone Oak and hadn't been there in about a year. We sat outside on the deck because the bar area was too smoky and front dining room was empty. We both ordered the big oak platter which is 3 eggs, sausage, bacon and an apple with potato's and choice of pancakes or French toast. Service was great however o asked if I could do 1 pancake and one French toast instead of 2 pancakes and I guess they wouldn't because I just got pancakes. Eggs and potato's were excellent! My husband asked for crispy bacon but they were not was he was hoping for. The sausage was very well cooked and my scrapple was deep fried ( never had it that way). Loved the pancakes! French toast was just dipped white bread nothing special. Overall good value for price and we had leftovers. Biggest change should be the view. Sitting with back to the street to avoid sun we has a woods view and staring at a stage that needs some cleaning up as well as crap behind the building. The outside has potential but needs some tlc and some new patio umbrellas. Worth the trip for a good $13 breakfast. read more

We were traveling and just happened upon this establish. They have great typical bar food, but the special they were serving that day was Red Snapper. I asked the server if this was actually good. While she didn't convince me, I decided to take a chance. My friends thought I was nuts as they ordered and enjoyed a hamburger and wrap. The Red Snapper was adorned with asparagus and sun-dried tomatoes. It was by far the best prepared and tasty dish. My compliments to the establishment and Jason, who cooked the dish. Stopped here on the way to the hotel. Not a bad spot at all. Our waitress was super nice and extremely helpful. She was very engaging and offered tips for our stay. The drinks were your average price for this area and the food was decent. The shrimp was great tho. So much flavor and made me wish I had ordered 2 of those for a meal. The wings were pretty average for this area. And the Shepard Pie was good, he said it was a little dry. The club sandwich was made well and big. I like review bathrooms too because who doesn't appreciate a nice bathroom. It was above average clean and smelled nice. The toilet paper was your average paper. There was a live band that was going to be playing, but we wanted to get to our hotel and didn't stay long enough to hear them play. Honestly, I would've given this place a 3 1/2 and by the rules of my Yelp mentor, that means you drop it to a 3, but our waitress was really engaging and did a great job so I bumped it up. A hidden little gem that isn't much to look at on the outside, but inside completely different! Best steak I think I've ever had in my life! Perfectly cooked, juicy, flavorful and tender. I've lived down the road for four years and have been fascinated by this place, but always too intimidated to stop in between the biker gangs and smoking. Finding myself a bachelor on a weekday night, I decided to give it a try. The Lone Oak Tavern is completely bipolar as the front non-smoking room is brightly decorated with a modern country look while the back bar looks like something out of Roadhouse and smoking is apparently mandatory as nearly every patron had a cigarette in hand. All the action is at the bar, but I really couldn't stand the smoke, so I sat in the front room feeling a bit of a pariah as I was the only person in a room that seats about 40. My server was very friendly and quick to point out that nearly everything is house made and even offered to point out what wasn't. I'm suspecting that would be fried frozen apps like the mozzarella sticks. There are happy hour specials giving discounts on drafts and rail drinks, and food specials throughout the week like half priced wings on Wednesday and prime rib on Friday. The beer menu is pretty Joe 6-pack: Coors Light, Miller Light, Bud Light, Yuengling, PBR, "Lone Oak Red Lager", "Lone Oak Stout", Michelob Ultra and Angry Orchard on tap; Coors Light, Miller Light, Bud Light, Bud Light Lime, Michelob Ultra, Budweiser, Michelob Lager, Molson, Stella, Blue Moon, Corona, Heineken, Rolling Rock and O'Doul's in bottles and some basic wines. The menu is mostly burgers and sandwiches with the beef for the burgers coming from a local Clarke County ranch. I got the "Tavern Burger" with chili, jalapeños and pepper jack cheese and fries. Ordered it medium rare and it was kind of cooked to temperature as the thickness was uneven so the thinner parts were more well done. Came on a nice fresh brioche bun and the fries were crisp with some sort of season salt, so all in all it was a good burger. I'd like to come back again but with a larger party of people so if the non-smoking area is empty again I don't feel so awkward. Normally I'd try to let the smoking thing go and sit at the bar, but this was extreme. I went to the VA Arboretum in Boyce, and found this tavern in Yelp. The place is not fancy, which I actually like. As soon I arrived I was very politely given the heads up that a group of bikers were about to arrive and it was going to get loud. I asked my wife and son if they wanted to stay, and they were actually pretty excited to see real bikers in person, I was happy to check the bikes too. The bikers were loud, as announced, but perfect gentleman on their behavior. The servers are one of the highlights of the place: very friendly, smiley and nice, make you feel comfortable and give you good advice on the food, drinks and even touristy activities to do around. The food is delicious. The absolute best for me was the Tavern Chili. I am in love! It was really good. The open faced Roast Beef with bake potato was excellent as well. The Blue Cheese and Onion burger was yummy, provided that Blue Cheese is your thing. From all the food we ordered, the only thing I didn't enjoy that much were the mini corn dogs, which for my taste where a little too sweet; not bad, but not as good as everything else. And yes, I tried every bodies' plate, stop being so judgmental haha. The draft beer was great! I will be back, and this time will order the large portion of Chili. We've been talking about trying this place out for a while and we are so glad we did...finally! The staff was friendly and took good care of us. We took the recommendation for the steak and cheese and it was excellent. They bake their own bread is what we were told. The fries were done just the way I like them...not overly crispy. We even tried the mini corn dogs as an appetizer and they were really good...cute! The beer was cold...and we enjoyed sitting outside on the patio. Don't go here if you are bothered by cigarette smoke. It is everywhere. They sat us in the non-smoking section but the whole restaurant smelled like cigarette smoke. It truly is a hole in the wall. I ordered club sandwich which was pretty good but very dry. I found part of a toothpick in my sandwich. My husband had a steak and cheese sub. He said it was pretty good and my son ordered a Reuben. The portion sizes were good. I probably won't ever come back here because I can't stand the smell of cigarette smoke and I couldn't get a fresh air of breath in the parking lot because everybody out there is smoking too. read more

Wonderful food and service, but non-smokers will want to dine al fresco! The carrot soup was obviously from scratch and amazing. The waitress was very nice and forthcoming with suggestions based on all she had tried and personally loved. The outside patio, while on a main road, was pleasant and for us a necessity - the "non smoking" section indoors did not have visible smoke in the air but the stale smoke odor was so thick I think we would have left with clothes smelling of smoke had we dined inside. While we weren't partaking just then, the bar (smokers and all) felt like the classic, fun dive bar with a full calendar of music and events. I imagine it's the sort of place with regulars and hope to check it out some night in the future when we are in the area again. read more

Lots of reasons I gave 1 Star! I looked on the website and see prices have gone up and they have gone up much higher than they need to be. So ordered chicken tenders and nacho's cause can't afford a steak this time. I get here and "Hope" (short girl with attitude) says they are tater-tot nacho. I said oh no thank you chip nacho please she says we don't have them. I said website says you do she says super bitchy well I don't control the website....."okay well that isn't my problem" I said. So then I start looking for something else to add so I settle on a steak and cheese she rambles off what come on it and I said yea that's fine all of that then she proceeds to tell me each item is .50 cent extra......damn really buckle and dime me to death!!! You know I drove from close to Middleburg to get here just for you just to eat because I liked your food. This experience makes me want to just go to the other guy. Hope you did a horrible job at all areas of my encounters and if I were the owner I would fire you. And if you are the owner shame on you for running the business in this way! I will not be back!!!! Oh sure it doesn't matter but I have been spending $150+ per mo with y'all guess that doesn't matter either..... Stopped here for lunch on a drive through the countryside. Sat on the patio and enjoyed beautiful fall weather. The interior smelled somewhat of cigarette smoke. Ordered build your own burgers. Delicious! Patties were properly cooked, thick and nicely charred. My wife had grilled onions and grilled mushrooms and cheddar on hers. I had blue cheese, hot sauce, bacon, and grilled peppers on mine. Fries were breaded and crisp and lightly seasoned with Old Bay. Tasty. Server was Kristie. Personable and efficient.
