Belgian Burger
Daviña D.

We were in town visiting for Memorial Day and looking for a late night spot to grab a bite to eat in downtown Winchester. The menu actually has 50 different burger recipes with various toppings, and of course a bar as well. The space is open and is large enough to accompany groups. Not a fancy space, but casual, and clean. The selection of burgers was fantastic! And you can swap out the burger for a chicken breast or vegetarian burger if you prefer instead. I ordered the "cheesy western with chicken instead of beef. It was awesome! My partner ordered an extreme burger, "the Belgian (breakfast burger). The amount of food that came out was insane. Our server was also very friendly and helpful. We both left stuffed! Will definitely return to this spot when we're back in the area again!

I loved this place! We were one of the first tables in there and everyone was very welcoming. I thought the decor they had was awesome. Service was quick and speedy for party of seven. The food was good, the French fries were the best! They also had beer flights for a decent price.

Cordon bleu burger medium rare with fries on too small a plate.

We stopped by for lunch on a Saturday, not very crowded so we were quickly seated and waited on. A large selection of beer and burgers. If you want anything besides burgers you are out of luck. I ordered a Maine blueberry lager. I usually go for a hearty heavy stout but wanted something light and refreshing and the blueberries really stood out. For food she chose the Cordon bleu burger with fries medium rare. She states that the bun was cold and hard, the juice from the pickle spear on the side made part of the bottom bun soggy, way too much mayo ( I should have taken a picture of how much she scraped off) and over all it was bland. The burger flavor which was a tasty char flavor overpowered everything else. It was a burger with stuff on it basically. I had the Vampire repeller with added drunken onions medium rare with fries. I did not realize the drunken onions came cold, good flavor but would be better warm. I enjoyed my burger. Good size, lots of garlic and garlic flavor that balanced well with the charred burger. The fries are hand cut, skins on shoe string size.Perfect. I wouldn't change a thing there!

We love this place! Great beer selection with rotating taps by the season! Family friendly. With I had more time to be here!

TLDR: Just get the beer. Don't get the food. Street parking. Food (1/5): Got sick. I had the chili tots and my stomach was WRECKED. This place is always 50/50 with their food. I used to get the hangover burger and over the years, it's changed for the worse. Drinks (5/5): Can't really mess up beer. There's always something for everyone there. Service (5/5): The service is always prompt and polite. Parking (3/5): It's downtown Winchester. Parking is street parking. It's free on the weekends and after 5pm during the week. There are also neighborhoods you could park in if you can't find anything nearby.

The service was excellent. The menu is burger a million ways so if you are not into that go somewhere else. The George Washington burger was nice with the apples on it.

Food and service are always great. Servers are attentive and the kitchen is generally quick getting food out.

Returning to 50/50 Taphouse five years later because I'm apparently 50% fat and this is why. I simply could not resist the siren call of a burger and tots with two beers. The burger was PERFECT. Juicy and delicious and served on a buttered and grilled bun. The tots were a big portion and went perfectly with the ketchup that took a bit of hot sauce for some zing. On the plus side, I worked off a whole bunch of calories sitting at a table near a power outlet so that I could churn out a bunch of Yelp reviews before ambling down the highway towards home. Wonderful spot with a family vibe. Lots of folks eating, several kids being mostly well-behaved, and tunes that were not too loud. And that's why I didn't rush off and enjoyed a second beer. Came on a trivia Thursday night. Very lively lots of young people which is definitely my vibe. The food was decent 50 taps and 50 types of burgers. The servers were awesome even though it was busy. They do have liquor here as well.

Not sure who would really be sitting out there.. Once inside,, the Brewery is spacious with enough seating both bar and tables for a good size group of beer dinners.  I sat at the bar and ordered a flight of all 10 beers they had on tap. All the beer at Escutcheon is drinkable, crushable and reasonably price for $6-7 a pint. And, the beer here is true to style.  No extra flavors, just good beer by the numbers. Brian was our beertender and he was great.  Thanks Brian, your sense of humor and knowledge of the beer as well as nautical terms made our night way better.  The brewers name is John and he brews clean flavors.  It is comforting when the beers taste like what they are. This is delicious Slip Angle New England IPA 7% ABV... says its a NEIPA, but has the flavor profile of a west coast IPA Habermehels Oktoberfest lager 6.5 ABV... liked this One alot Annealed Coffee Stout 6.5% ABV... smells like coffee, tastes like coffee, give me some bacon and I've got breakfast For my first experience here, I was very impressed.  None of the ABVs were ridiculously high and the beers were true to their styles.  For me that was very comforting.  I am finding that here in Winchester, a night of beer drinking is Uber Affordable.  And Escutcheon is not the exception, but the rule.  If you want great beer at even greater affordability, Escutcheon is the place to visit.  I will be returning soon.

Our server was friendly enough but on the slow side for being so empty. The portions were small but the food was tasty. The steak bites were tender and juicy but couldn't have been elevated with the addition of shaved Brussels or even served on a bed of spring mix. Likewise the Buffalo chicken flatbread that had perfect flavor and texture would have topped the charts with a simple addition of blue cheese crumbles. What is good food if executed with a little tweak could be food worth remembering. We also witnessed an unhappy table and a server unable to appease them - the entire situation left us feeling uncomfortable where if servers are trained how to deal with "Karen" customers the dining experience could be better for everyone. Three stars for our experience, this was a road trip visit, so the likelihood of a return visit is unlikely. Worth a visit for a drink or two even a quick bite but the food experience needs just a small umph to make it a 5* review

We sucked down our food and water, asked for the check twice due to being on a time constraint. Dude never acknowledged. My husband finally stopped the bartender, asked for his name. "Brian/Bryan" while walking away. We left enough cash on the bar to cover our bill with a generous tip just so we could get out of there. Worse dining experience we've had an extremely long time.
