We stopped in totally on a whim on a Thursday for dinner. Our sons had told us about it and one of them and his wife had joined us for dinner and this was their idea. We were led to a back dining room with a nice large window to the patio and comfy half booths. Our Server, Braxton and his colleagues were SO AMAZING! All of our questions were answered and they didn't judge how many apps we ordered LOL! No pics but the Fried Green Tomatoes, Onion Rings, Philly Steak and Cheese Eggrolls and Loaded Deviled Eggs were ALL divinely delicious! Our entrees were the Hawaiian Pork Bowl, Bourbon and Coke Meatloaf, Chicken and Waffles and Chopped Steak. So many options that were each unique and executed perfectly! At this point we aren't about to let Dessert pass us by! My son and I ordered the Blue Lagoon Bread Pudding (in honor of Shark Week), others in our party had the Strawberry Rhubarb Pie and Carrot Cake. The most exquisite ending to our meal. I can't leave this review without commenting on our drinks! I was the one non-beer drinker but found the Paladin Sangria to be hands down the BEST Sangria anywhere in town! Driving to Texas and we've got 20 some odd hours left. So we gotta eat. Randomly select a place not too far off the highway so we don't get lost. Looks like it's the only place around lit up. Loved the decor right away. Old movie posters. Matte finish paint. Surprising amount of young adults in there. Must be the place to go in this area on a Friday night. Live music too which I love! I got the roast beet sandwich and it was soooo good. The toasted bread was perfect. Crunchy and crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Friend hit the broccoli Mac and cheese. This might be a little long of a review, but hopefully worth the read. There's not a lot of choices to dine out around this area. You have the typical chain restaurants () some nasty ass Mexican restaurants (one of them put my stepdad in the hospital with Sepsis) and that's about all you have in this area. Then you have Paladin Woolen Mill restaurant. Honestly, a true blessing in this area. From the great tasting food, to the service with a smile, this place sets the benchmark for what restaurants in this area should strive to imitate. Went today (Wednesday July 8 at 1 pm), not busy at all. Sat outside (had the dog with us). Service was attentive - thanks, Danny. Fried oyster appetizer special was delicious. Tuscan grilled chicken sandwich and Bison burger were also delicious. A great find just off the interstate for a nice meal and a break from the road. My family has been coming here for years. The food is always delicious and the atmosphere is great. We've even had events in their back room! The cocktails are good and the bartender, Tammy, is always on top of it! Their lunch specials are great with an awesome price tag attached! We found this hidden gem on our trip from NC up to NY. I looked on Yelp for restaurants in the area and when I saw the reviews I knew we had to try it. Great place. If you're in the area give it a try. Friendly staff, quick service and a great menu. The entrance is a sports bar which is quite load and a fun atmosphere. If you're wanting a quieter seating ask for the back room with regular tables instead of high tops. The next time we're in the area we'll be back. read more

Just finished a wonderful meal here with my wife. First time here. We are traveling through the area and did a quick search and pick this place. We arrived around 6pm and had to wait about 7-8 minutes for a table. Upon being seated our waitress immediately took our drink orders. When she brought drinks, just a couple minutes later, she took our appetizer order. I ordered the Loaded Deviled Eggs and the Pimento Cheese Fridders. About 5 minutes later she refilled our drinks and took our meal orders. I got the Bourbon and Coke Meatloaf with mashed potatoes and balsamic vinegar Brussel Sprouts. My wife ordered the Fries Chicken sandwich. Then about 5 more minutes and she brought the appetizers. Wow, the Pimento Cheese Fridders were absolutely amazing. We added a little hot sauce, well just because we love hot sauce. However they didn't need anything added. They were really good. The Deviled Eggs were also very good. Shortly after our meal arrived. Man, everything was wonderful. The meatloaf was so juicy and full of flavor. Immediately I could pick out the Bourbon but it wasn't overwhelming at all. It quickly became a little sweet and great burger flavor. The Brussels were amazing and the mashed potatoes were great too. Hey tried a small bite of the fried chicken sandwich and it was wonderful as well. The staff was very attentive and friendly, the restaurant was super clean and they were busy which is a good sign. We were looking for a place to stop on our long drive home and decided on here. Food was amazing and so was the service! We will be back!

I ate here for the first time last week, kind of out of the blue because I wasn't planning on stopping here it just looked like it had the best comfort food which in fact was exactly what they were serving. My experience was at the bar so I can't speak for the table service, but I assume that it's no less than what you'd experience at the bar. The bartender was friendly, offered suggestions, and had a very warm reception. I asked for an off-menu drink and it was swimming with the top-shelf whiskey I'd requested. We're off to a good start. The food was outright delicious, especially those Philly Cheesesteak Egg rolls, those we're worth the trip alone. If it wasn't for the enormous helping of Bourbon and Coke meatloaf I would have been ordering a second round. But as other reviews have pointed out, this helping is generous and filling. I've given this place five stars because if you're in the area, it's the only restaurant with this caliber of service and cuisine, the owners have made a huge investment and should be supported. read more

Randomly pulled off the exit to grab a bite to eat for lunch on our way to NC from NY. We had the pup with us, so we sat outside on their patio where they had some heat lamps that they let us turn on since it was chilly out. The service was fast and friendly. The Husband ordered the shrimp as an appetizer and said that was the best shrimp he's had in years. He got the chicken & waffles as his entree and said it was perfectly crispy on the outside and tender inside and recommends asking for melted butter (or just use the leftover melted butter if you get the shrimp which is what he did). I ordered the Mac & Cheese with no bacon (vegetarian), however I got the Mac & Cheese with chicken. When I brought this to the waitress' attention she quickly went back into the kitchen and had them make me one with no bacon/chicken and that one was sooooo good! Super creamy, a good amount (2 meals worth, I'd even say you could get 3 meals out of the chicken one), and the garlic bread was really good too. Normally I'd be tempted to take a star off for feeding me chicken but the food was great, the waitress was great and she even suggested that my husband take the Chicken Mac & Cheese which he gladly did box up to enjoy later. read more

I love both of these locations with one exception. Both locations STINK. I am not sure what chemical cleaner they use, but it is strong. So strong in fact, I can't get past the chemical smell as I'm trying to eat the amazing food. Imagine tasting a fantastic fried green tomato while also smelling bleach out of the bottle. It's a shame. When I get home, my clothes and hair smell for hours of the awful smell. I applaud their intent to keep things sanitized, but I wish they used a gentler method. I may only do carry out from now EDIT: upgrading my stars to 5 because as of recently, the chemical smell is GONE!!! Thank you!! Love coming here! read more

Food was just ok. Service was lacking. Waitress had no idea what the beers were and had to keep going back and forth to the bar. It took me longer to get a beer than to get food. The wings lacked flavor. They were very basic. Greens were too sweet. Prices are too high for what is essentially bar food. read more

We wanted to just update the status of this wonderful neighborhood place of business! We have lived in this area now for about five years, and after the sudden closing of the prior restaurant that occupied this space; we are happy to report a worthy replacement! They have their game on now! went on Friday after a long week and sat at the bar with my hubby! He ordered a burger with the recommendation of our bartender, and I as well went with her recommendation of Teriyaki Salmon! She was spot on; and I have gotta say hands down the best meal I have enjoyed in a good while. The salmon was cooked to perfection, perfectly hot, and the spinach with garlic! omg - even the brown rice was perfectly chewy and flavored - this dish was hands down delicious! my go to from now on! Hubby's burger with mushroom and swiss was enjoyed as well - no seasoning needed - he consumed every bite! Go and sit at the bar! the bartenders (dressed as Raggedy Ann) was the bomb! So, I'll start by saying I'm a fan of the Stephens City location. Tried P2 and just couldn't stay. Hostess upset me from jump but not the reason we left. Got there shortly after open and ordered a beer but told they're out. Weird since you just opened. Ordered a water and oh boy that was a mistake. The water tasted like it was mixed with alka seltzer. If the water was that bad how could the food be?!?! Wasn't going to find out and still fighting the heart burn from that horrific glass of water. Good luck if you go and pack some tums.
