Pikes' is a fun and beautiful place to come and peruse on a weekend and that's exactly what a group of friends and myself did. We walked around and shopped for plants, enjoyed all the greenery scenery. I bought a super cute plant and so did my friend. My boyfriend bought a cute sign about our spoiled dog lol. They're pricing is on the higher side for plants, but it's a chain so I wasn't surprised. I like the things the have to offer and their options. I have shopped here every Spring and Fall for years, and have never encountered horrible customer service like I did today. I had specific questions to ask, but the associate kept cutting me off before I could get the question out. She then gave me an answer which was not what I was going to ask her about. Later on I asked her about a specific type of Hydrange, and she said, "What we have is what we have. I didn't want to cut off my nose to spite my face so I did purchase a few plants but only about 1/3 of those on my list. Honestly, if you don't want to answer questions from customers perhaps Pike's is the wrong place for you to work. read more

Pike Nurseries has a beautiful selection of all things landscape including flowers, shrubs, yard art, and most recently, they added real Christmas trees in the back! Walk through the double doors at the back of the store, and you're immediately hit in the face with the glorious fragrance of evergreen trees, LOVE! Inside you'll find everything from bird feeders to home decor to furniture and door mats. They even have a pet supplies corner. I enjoyed browsing the shelves but beware - their prices are quite high. I am looking forward to checking out their flower selection in the spring! Will report back. read more

Funny how demand for seasonal things changes. Not surprised, but if you are looking for variety, go in early spring. If you wait a couple of months, your choices are more limited as suppliers have only planted so much of items and once they are delivered to the many nurseries, it is too late to get what you want. But...Pike's is an excellent nursery and it is open until 6pm, so working people can get a good shot at buying plants and shrubs. What makes Pike best are the people who really know their stuff. Of course, they are very busy, but tell the cashiers what you are looking for and they will tell you who is that specialty expert. And they will page for them. Stand around looking confused helps speed the process, but there is a lot of competition for the experts. Right around the shopping center corner from Bahn Thai, so have lunch or dinner after you get your plantings. read more

I'll start by saying it's a beautiful nursery, the staff are knowledgeable and they always have plenty to choose from. I wish the customer service was a little better and this may be more a personal pet peeve. I purchased a Japanese Maple at full price about 2 weeks ago but received an email this morning stating they are having a "Customer Appreciation Sale" and all Japanese Maples are 30% off as part of the sale. I called the store and spoke with a gentleman who said they couldn't give a price adjustment because the sale is for end of season and only for what they have left. I guess I am a little miffed because I have spent a LOT of money there over the years and most stores will give a price adjustment if the purchase was recent. Let's call it what it is, the sale is really for "end of season clearance" and has nothing to do with customer appreciation, just say'in. read more

Beware! Do not work with Pikes for major yard renovations and planning. We've spent over 25k with them only see everything you can think of go wrong and done so poorly. Most all bushes they planted have died or are struggling due to poor planning. The front lawn they put in, totally dead. And the flag stone firepit area was done and falling apart. We are now working with another company to fix all the damage done. Please contact me directly before working with pikes. They subcontract all work to a company that is clueless and does poor work and pikes will not stand by any of this issue and will leave you to fight with there subcontractors. Sadly, Pike's has continued to increase in pricing and decrease in quality, selection and service. I visited today intending to purchase several plants. Probably $300-400 of business. I searched for the first of the plants I was looking for and finally found them but had to track someone down as the two they had were unacceptable. One was completely dead. The other was broken (literally) so most of the plant was laying on the ground outside the plant. The Pike employee commented "It just needs a new stake." But he took no action to address the issue and did not remove the dead plant as I pointed it out. To his credit he apologized several times for them being "low on inventory". In fact, with one dead plant and one seriously damaged, I'd consider them to be sold out. But I'm sure they would have been happy to sell me either or both at $50 a whack. I asked if they were going to get any more in. He "guessed" they would. When I asked when that would be he guessed some more. I pressed for specifics and he finally realized that he could go and ask the person responsible for ordering. He came back and said that they should be arriving mid-week. Then he volunteered that they could call me when they are in and even set aside several plants for me. I agreed that would be good. I finished my shopping with other plants and some soil conditioner and headed to check out. The line to check out was only about a 5 minute wait. I was called up to one of the registers by a nice young lady (no offense intended). She was pleasant and worked quickly to scan my items and give me a total. I completed the transaction and then asked about having them call me and also set aside some plants when they arrived. Her response was "No, no, no. Oh no. No we can't really do that. We don't get into special orders or anything. We just don't." So I explained that this was what I had been told in the back. This seemed to flummox her. She started fumbling for a notebook and said that she could take my name and number but could not promise anything. I thought that was kind of ridiculous. Either the guys in back are wrong or she was wrong. But either way there wasn't much interest or enthusiasm to help me. And I felt like it was pretty foolish to give my name and number to her if they don't do/can't do what someone else told me they could. I mean, that's a waste of time and another delay as I waited for a call that would never come. I told her it would be easier to just mail order the plants and she enthusiastically agreed with me. We prefer to support local businesses when we can but we have spent a fortune at Pike's and never really had the support or service we'd expect. They charge a huge premium for their products which are identical to Lowes, Home Depot and Walmart. And they charge a premium for their plants, when you can get them. It's just not worth paying 50% to 100% more for such poor service and support and we're done with Pike. I'd recommend you look at Walmart, Lowes and Home Depot for products. Look online for plants or visit real nurseries where employees know their plants and can do things like call you when your plants arrive. See attached photos of the two blackberry plants Pike had on display. One completely dead. No signs of foliage or blooms. The other broken and laying on the ground. Pikes is our favorite retail nursery in this area. They have a wide variety of plants that is laid out well and consistently amazing service. Pricing is comparable to any other retail nursery, but a wider selection with things you would not typically see at say a Lowe's or Home Depot. Stopped by today specifically for Eurphorbia Trigona Rubrum. (We remembered Pikes had a ton earlier in the season) We got lucky because there were 2 left! Browsed around and noticed spring bulbs were on sale, grabbed some to add to the collection. Cashiers were sanitizing in between each guest they checked out, good to know Pikes is taking precautions during the Covid Pandemic. Thank you for doing so. read more

So I've shopped here a few times before, and usually had a good experience. However yesterday was the first time I had to return something, and it was awful. When I purchased a cactus there last month there was a white spot on it. The kid at the register was super friendly, and at the time thought it was just residue from their fertilizer. Ok no problem. Turns out I watered it last week and the white area grew and I'm pretty sure it was mealybugs. So I went to return it the day after I discovered that, as well as two other plants I had bought that same day that I was concerned the pests had spread too, as I had watered them all together in the sink. I went to a young cashier who didn't know how to handle, and an older cashier came over to help. You would have though I had stolen these plants with her tone of voice. She sounded irritated and made a point of telling me that they usually don't return houseplants, so this was a one time thing. She acted like she didn't know what was causing the white spot. So when I wanted to return two other plants, as well as a pot seemed very irritated, told me it was a one time thing and they all I would get is store credit (ok fine, even though I had my receipt and was within the 90 day return period listed on the website). I returned two cacti, the other plant/pot was on a different receipt from the same day that I couldn't find. I was like, I would keep but am concerned about mealybugs. I think the girl just didn't want to deal with it and was like, just wait a few days to see if it's ok. At that point I was in such a shame spiral I left. And honestly if it does develop pests from the other plants I bought there I will throw it away and move on. Do not plan on visiting in the future, as I'm too afraid to have to return something. read more

Was here earlier for their 9 AM for their "Terrariums and Fairy Gardens Class" which runs for 30 minutes. Deborah, the presenter gave tons of information on How to set up your own Small Space Terrarium. Learned a lot. Folks, I do not have a green thumb or maybe I am just getting the wrong plants/flowers. There were samples of already made Terrariums at the table she was speaking from. Lots of attendees including children. Cool activity for the whole family. They have another class next Saturday on Air plants. Only one draw back, there were limitation with the amount of supplies they had for the class. After class, we went to look for Glass Terrarium Bowl which were not many to select from. You also get a 20% off of merchandise. Definitely, fun place to visit and learn about plants, flowers, and all your gardening needs. read more

We shopped there for the first time last weekend. They have a great selection of plants. However, many planters are not marked with a price. I purchased three small ceramic pots that would have been no more than $30 elsewhere. When we got home, we checked the receipt and was astounded to find out we were charged $110 for a small 6" planter and $105 for another!!! Even though we didn't buy much, our total was $305!!!!! We are so disappointed with this store and will not shop there again. Beware of items with no prices and no signs. In addition to the overpriced planters, it took FOREVER to check out because the cashier was having to answer the phone. Seriously Pike?? I recently used Pikes to design a plan for my entire front yard and purchased all the plants from them. That part of the service was great. Then we paid them to use one of their installers to plant everything, install lighting and drip lines to the new plants. They chose Reitzel Landscaping and all I can tell you is, if that's who they assign to your project, I would highly recommend that you demand a different installer. They didn't complete the work, missed several drip line ports causing a few plants to die and overall just provided very subpar service with very spotty follow up. After bringing this to Pike's attention, they forwarded the issue to their operations manager, and it took him a month to even e-mail me about it. By that time, I had hired others to fix the issues. I'll not be using Pike's again as they don't seem to stand by their work or hold their subcontractors accountable. read more

Bought a Eucalyptus plant from Pikes, kept plant indoors, watered about once a week. Two weeks later I noticed leaves on plant drying out, I watered again, two weeks later leaves will fall off with least little touch. Happened to find receipt, receipt said s Lifetime guarantee on all scrubs and trees, all others must be within 90 days accompanied by a receipt. Took plant back to store. Asst Mgr said they don't replace or refund on plants. It's apparent there plants do well in an controlled environment, no where else. I wouldn't recommend buying plants here. Lowe's and HomeDepot stands by their products. read more

We have gotten our Christmas tree at Pike Nurseries for the last few years because they have a great selection of trees (all varieties, plus flocking if you prefer). All trees are displayed in a stand so that you know exactly what it will look like when you get it home. They give you the option of leaving the stand on (no more swearing trying to get the tree straight). The guys who lash the tree to your car roof are very careful and put cardboard on the roof to protect your car. If you are looking for any other decorations, Pike Nurseries also has a great selection of poinsettia, Christmas cacti, philodendron, as well as wreaths, garland, and more! read more

I recently completed a backyard design and build with Pike and Picazo. I give Pike and Picazo my strongest possible recommendation. Having built 4 new homes over a lifetime and worked with 8-10 landscape design and installation teams over that period, finding high-quality designers with excellent execution is shockingly hard to find. And ordinarily it comes with very high costs. Working with Pike and Picazo has been just great. Design -- April's design met or exceeded all our initial targets, and the price was square in the middle of the range we discussed. Her ability to know where to spend money and where to value engineer was simply first rate. Although in the past I've gone back-and-forth quite a bit with designers, I think I had one minor change/request and she worked it into the final design. In summary, her ability to listen, bring her own expertise to the project, and deliver such a great design significantly exceeded my expectations. Order/build -- April and Ruti (Picazo) were simply a dream in this regard. Despite the supply chain challenges, somehow they scheduled all the work, and showed up on time each and every step of the way. The hardscape they built (patio, seating wall, fire pit) frankly looks good enough for a magazine...can't believe it's mine :-). Although I thought I had paid for fake rocks, somehow they managed to get hand-cut slate...super fun to watch them build it piece by piece, and it's stunningly pretty to look at now. If you want to work with a very talented team with a clear process for the beginning, middle and end, I highly recommend Pike/Picazo. I give them my strongest possible recommendation. read more

I have been to Pike's Nurseries at 12630 N Community House Rd before and the memory from the last visit left me wanting more. I would have gone elsewhere for what I needed but I happened to be in the neighborhood and they really do have a large selection of product. That is hard to turn down when doing anything garden related. Parking: Although it was the middle of the day, it was also 12:00 Noon, the middle of the day so parking was at a premium. I had to park further away than I have in the past but again, I understand that they were busy. The store: I selected a cart by the door and wheeled it inside with the intent of buying plants and other accessories for my garden. The size of the store is deceiving as it appears to be just a retail store but there is more. In addition to the large interior store, there are at least 3 separated outdoor areas full of plants, potting containers and most of the things a garden needs. Service: As I moved about the store, I saw several employees watering plants and engaging in conversation with employees but none approached me. At first I didn't give it a thought but I was on my lunch and I was unsure about where to find what I was looking for. As I made selections of plants, shrubs, potting soil, and other accessories my cart began to fill. It filled to a point where it became a bit difficult to maneuver up and over the strewn about hoses with a cart that was obviously overloaded. I eventually made it to the register and paid my $178 but it was at that moment that I realized no one was ever going to ask me if I needed anything. It was at that moment that I realized I did. I asked the cashier to have someone come and help me load my purchase into the car. This is not the first time that I have been to this store and was able to shop feeling invisible. It is not a good feeling but sometimes we will shop in places that don't have the best service. I understand that being outdoors is hot and being on your feet is tiring but we (paying customers) want to feel / deserve to feel like a business cares about our patronage. read more

This is my happy place. I didn't want to fall in love with Pike Nurseries because it is a chain but once you step inside it doesn't have that corporate feel at all. This is a beautiful location with an abundance of indoor & outdoor options. Quite an oasis in the city and my favorite place to stop in on a Sunday morning. I gravitate towards the indoor plants because I rent my apartment and can't commit to planting outdoors. The employees always go out of their way to help me find something specific or just chat with me about random plants that just came in. They are always extremely knowledgable and I walk away feeling confident that I have the tools to care for my new plant baby. Once I was looking for a string of pearly plant and the manager took my information and called me once she got them in. Depending on the time of year and type of plant gardening can get expensive but in my opinion Pike Nurseries isn't horribly overpriced. I paid $10 for my large string of oblong pearls plant and the succulent prices are on par with what you would find at home depot. $3 for each small donkey tail. The only difference is that Pike Nurseries would never spray paint a succulent or glue flowers on a cactus. read more

Although, we are only visiting Charlotte for the weekend, it was recommended that we stop at this nursery and have a look around. Pikes is one of the nicest nurseries I have seen. There are so many items available. It was fun as I wandered through the aisles and looked at the unique plants that would be challenging to grow where I live. There were so many water features and statuary ready for purchase for anyone wanting to add interest to their yard or garden. Some items were very pricey, but I found a dragonfly statue to put by our pond at home for only $15. The sales people were very accommodating. When the cashier found out I was from out of state, she double wrapped my purchases for our trip home. When we are down here again, I would like to come back and see what new things are available. read more

Typically I loveeee this place and can't get out of this joint without spending less than $100 (avid house plant collector). This last time was somewhat disappointing as I had my heart set on some beautiful hanging baskets. I did leave with two but I had either pothos orrrr ivy to choose from- maybe a few others but they did not interest me. Though I've heard that ivy can be difficult to care for, I still took my chances and rolled out with two of them plus a few other house plants! Ha. I will, of course, be back and give them more of my money! Also, the staff is very nice. Not always the most knowledgeable but if one person cannot answer my question, they will find someone who can. read more
