This place is where my money goes to ditch me. I keep finding plants that need to come home with me.

Renfrow's was recommended to me by the folks down the street at the Matthews Heritage Museum. It…read moredid not disappoint. The store is deceptively big. The front door is narrow and old. But walk through that door and its like the Tardis from Dr. Who. The store really opens up into multiple rooms each with their own treasures to be found. Then out back there is a garde. And green house. They have chili pepper plants the likes of which I don't think I will ever see again! I swear the jalapeno plant was nearly as tall as me. And that is not an exaggeration. It was massive. Like a spicy tree. It was seriously impressive. Anyhow, there was also a "volunteer" plant just outside the back door that had tiny red peppers on it. Nobody seemed to know the variety but said they were too too hot. Maybe Tobasco peppers they thought. I started talking to them about my own home garden and how I struggle with tomato and pepper blossoms not sticking around long enough to produce fruit. They told me about something called "Blossom Set." I would have bought some there but it was greater than 3 ounces and I had to fly home. What I did buy was a bottle of scuppernong juice. Funny name for a native grape with a delicious flavor. A little more tart than standard grapes. I had been wanting to try scuppernongs and that did the trick. My only regret here is that I don't live anywhere near Renfrow's and could not biy as much I really wanted to. If I was a local, this would likely me a regular stop on my weekend errands.

They have a wide variety of items for your home office, etc. The value that you pay appear is very affordable for the average consumer. They have plenty of staff that are working while I was there. I saw someone putting together a piece. Another person was doing cleaning and it appeared three people who work there were having a meeting Despite their being enough staff no one greeted me or asked what I needed so I decided to leave and order the items online. The store is not as big as the IKEA near the university, but it has a pretty good selection. I hope that they can improve their customer service.

The IKEA South Charlotte Plan & Order Point opened in mid-October 2024 and while it was crowded at…read morethe time, it has definitely calmed down. Unlike the full IKEA in Charlotte's University neighborhood, this is a much smaller footprint in the Promenade on Providence shopping center. Some similarities exist. The display area upstairs at the other IKEA locations has been shrunk down and this store has several setups of their furniture that you can walk through and get a proper feel for how it might fit in your home. Kitchens, bedrooms, closets, living room areas all set up with shelving, accessories and other accoutrements. A few other display areas with beds and furniture are set up with chairs and tables so that you can test and try out various IKEA pieces. You'll find some smaller accent items - clocks, picture frames, lamps, bedding, etc. Pricing on all is clearly marked. A handful of associates are here, ready and willing to help you with working out the various designs and customizing them for your order. There is no food to be purchased here, sadly. No meatballs or salmon or other great Swedish treats from coolers or from a cafeteria. This is a nice browse but it's not a destination shopping experience. For that, you'll need to drive up to the other store. [Review 73 of 2025 - 4048 in North Carolina - 23641 overall]
